Next time we may decide to share a sandwich bc they were decent sized. After we ate we did some shopping, found a few things that our supermarket didn't carry. They are Always busy! Food is consistently good. Im Referring to the cheeses, cold cuts and refrigerated goods. If you are of Italian descent, you will find a large variety of canned tomatoes/vegetables, pastas, Italian rice for risotto, olive oils, cookies and Italian flour for homemade pizza. We've been searching for an Italian deli and bakery that reminds us of the great spots on the East Coast, and this is probably the closest we've found in the Valley. Overall, there were definitely more hits than misses. The deli offers an impressive variety of hot foods. The sandwiches coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic, and there are plenty of pasta dishes and traditional Italian entrées available as well. We didn't order a hot meal on this visit, but we'll definitely be back to try one. The market section is also worth browsing. They carry a wide selection of pastas, sauces, olive oils, canned tomatoes, and other Italian staples. My only suggestion would be to expand the specialty pasta selection with options like squid ink, spinach, or roasted red pepper varieties. Of course, we couldn't leave without visiting the bakery case. We brought home an assortment of Italian cookies, a black and white cookie, a Napoleon, chocolate cannolis, and a brownie. The brownie was the one item that didn't impress us, but everything else was delicious and tasted fresh. One thing to be aware of is parking. The lot is quite small, and both we and several other customers ended up parking across the street. It's not necessarily something the business can control, but it's worth mentioning if you're visiting during a busy time. The fact that this shop has been around for decades says a lot about the quality and loyal customer base they've built over the years. We had a delicious lunch at this spot today, it's an Italian grocery store / deli. I went with the hot NY pastrami with mustard, lettuce, tomato & onion, the bread was soft on the inside and crusty on the outside. My friend had the Robert Sandwich and he said it was the best sandwich he's ever eaten.. lol.. he loved it, def a fan. Next time I'm getting something from one of the bakery cases. The cases full of cookies & cakes looked amazing! The eating area was in the middle of the store. The parking area is small we found parking right away but I can imagine it gets busy, the service was fast & friendly. The variety of food items was really good. When you walk through the door of this little deli, you are greeted like you are home. Everyone is so friendly and that is refreshing in a big metropolis like Phoenix. We saw all the desserts right when we walked in and let me tell you, sooooo good. We settled for deli sandwiches and some salads. All very good. I plan to try everything on the menu so this will one of many reviews. The value was quite reasonable and we had leftovers, so two meals from one sandwich! So much meat on it that you fill up fast. Been here before but forgot to leave a review. I love these sandwiches, they load them up and love the shredded lettuce. I got the mortadella and cheese and added prosciutto. It was fantastic. My husband got the George's special and he loved it. The antipasto mix salad was fantastic so much meat and veggies. My boyfriend brought me an Italian stallion sub. It was bohhhhmb. So good. my daughter got a chicken cutlet sub which was pretty good but she got it with nothing on it just the chicken and cheese. I would've got it with all the fixings and really enjoyed that. I look forward to going back and trying some other things, but I can't say for the Italian stallion sub it was delicious. It's the real deal. The aroma is great the moment you walk in. Decent size grocery selection too to go along with their restaurant, the latter of which we came for. Had the meatball sub and green salad. Both tasted great and both were of generous portion sizes. The eclair was delicious and large in size. The cream puff was delicious, as well. Romanelli's is an staple in Phoenix and one of the best Italian deli's and markets I have been to. I am rarely in the area so every time I get the chance, we stop in. Today I got the chicken cutlet sandwich with everything on it and added mayo. My sister got the Italian stallion sub. we got a medium size of the Caprese salad and Italian sodas. We also ordered cannolis and assorted cookies from the baked goods area. The food is incredible but the staff is truly what makes this place special. Everyone is so kind and make sure that you have a good experience every time. They have a large variety of imported goods of high-quality from Italy and other European countries. While they have a lot of inventory, everything is organized in a way that makes sense and doesn't feel overwhelming. How did it take us over 25 years of living in the Phoenix area to discover this place?? We are originally from Massachusetts, and Romanelli's was like a nostalgia trip back to Boston's North End! (truth be told, the owners are actually from NY, but same idea!) The deli and market are expansive, with tons of packaged gourmet Italian goods, loads of fresh meats and cheeses - many made in-house. They have a wide selection of traditional sandwiches and salads, as well as pizza, homemade sausage, and Italian specialties like lasagna and eggplant parm. Speaking of nostalgia, we also saw a box of Drake's Devil Dogs and packages of Stella Doro cookies, like my Grandma used to serve with instant coffee! Then there's the bakery section...OMG! cream puffs, eclairs, Italian butter cookies, etc., etc., etc.... Fantastic! We ordered two subs - one cold with assorted Italian deli and all the traditional toppings, and one warm with roast beef, pastrami and provolone. The ingredients were fresh and abundant, squeezed between fresh Italian bread. They have a small seating area in the middle of the market. Between my wife and I, we only ate half of each and boxed up the rest for home. We maybe could have managed another half between us, but we purposely left room for dessert. At one counter we bought a lobster tail (if you've never had one, it's a dessert, and it's heaven!) and a big slab of Napoleon cake. At another counter, we got a half pound of assorted butter cookies. We brought it all home and enjoyed them immensely for the next few days. Romanelli's is a marvelous Italian grocery store. TEN STARS! The kind of place that hits you with nostalgia before you even grab a basket. I stepped into this joint and transported back in time - Sunday after church, five years old again with my grandparents, standing at the counter of Giannella's in Paterson, NJ. With the exception of the cashier dude, the staff was...uh..."mezza morto," and definitely in need of some Italian or Italian-American inspiration. A little life. A little rhythm. A smile perhaps. I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich, add wet mozzarella, hot soppressata, roasted red peppers, oil, and balsamic.. The cutlets were too thick and the mozzarella, although fresh, was strangely tasteless. Apparently this sandwich was infused with gold, crypto, or something because it rang in at $24 with the add-ons. My person had the eggplant parm, which unfortunately was over-seasoned with only a slight trace of mozzarella. The marinara on the side was undefinable. We hit the bakery on the way out. The sfogliatella and cannoli were great, and so were the ladies behind the counter, warm, lively, and actually happy to be there. Look, I'm goin' back to Romanelli's. We arrived from Oregon for a trade show and wanted some tasty sandwiches and found Romanellis Deli. We are so glad we stopped by this place. We ordered 3 sandwiches and each one was a piece of heaven. The bread is perfect and must be baked daily as it was so fresh. The construction of the sandwich is true perfection and the meats are cut nice and thin. The Italian dressing on the sandwich is amazing and pulls the whole sando together. We saved one half of a sandwich and even the next day it was so good and the bread was not soggy. On our way back to Portland we stopped by at 9 in the morning and ordered 3 more sandwiches for lunch on the airplane. The second visit did not disappoint and everyone in our group was so happy we stopped by to grab these amazing sandwiches for our trip. The staff is super friendly and the service is amazingly fast. The desserts are next level yummy! They have a huge selection of italian goodies that you cannot find in many stores. We brought home a jar of their pasta sauce for dinner when we got home and I don't think it could be any better. It felt like we were eating at a fancy italian restaurant at home. Service is always very friendly. To be honest I'm not a huge fan of the location. The parking lot is very small. There's plenty of things to look at, get some grocery shopping done, big pastry cases. It has "Italian deli" vibes which are very inviting, and you can sit inside and eat after you purchase your sandwiches and snacks. The sandwiches are always good. My favorite is the Italian stallion. I didn't post a pic bc I was too hungry. I always get cookies here. I love me a good 'hole in the wall' spot! Romanelli's is probably not a place you'd pop into considering the location. You might even miss it while driving by. But this place is where it's at for good Italian flavors! I really enjoyed the Italian Beef sub and had to come back to try the pizza. Now, the pizza dough wasn't as crisp as I would've liked but the taste was still good. My next visit will have to include an Italian ice and cannoli. My son and I were greeted by this cute nice girl who gave me all the background info and even introduced me to the 3rd generation owner. The store has so many great Italian grocery options, it feels so family oriented in there we loved it. We went to the back where you order, I wish I would have gotten the name of the guy helping me but he answered every question I had and kept saying "get a #7" so I did and now I know why that's the most ordered! I was very underwhelmed with their deli selection. The asiago cheese was the same brand that can be purchased at any local grocery store, and I think maybe the batch they sold me was near its expiration date because I ended up up throwing away half of it based on its horrible taste. Their homemade mozzarella was flavorless, and the imported prosciutto was the same as that sold at Costco. I am not sure what they used to fill their cannoli, but it was not flavorful at all. I was amazed that they had never heard of a cornetto before, because any/every bakery/cafe/pastry shop in Roma, Toscana, Firenze etc. in Italy is filled to the brim with many different varieties of these Italian croissants. I did not try any of their restaurant offerings, so I cannot comment on those, but the experience was not, truly, Italian, and the same meats and cheeses they sell in their deli can be found for similar prices at many other grocery stores around the valley. read more

We ordered the usual and when we got home to enjoy the sandwiches, I've seen better from a 7 year old kid. They were soggy and flavorless. We called to let them know of the underwhelming service and food for feedback purposes. I believe there is a new younger guy working now. We were greeted with EXTREMELY RUDE comments. Even mentions of going to McDonalds instead. As a loyal and frequent customer, this was unacceptable service(to a WOMEN, at that).
