The hub and I decided to grab a bite to eat at Firehouse Subs before seeing a movie at the nearby theater. I was excited to try their French Dip sandwich. The restaurant wasn't busy, so we weren't worried about making our movie in time. I ordered a small French Dip because I wanted to leave room for popcorn at the movies. The cashier asked if it was ok if the sandwich didn't come with the au jus because they ran out. Um no, that's not ok. If there's no au jus, it's not a French Dip, it's just a sandwich, so I ordered beef and cheddar instead. It was the middle of the afternoon, so I have no idea how they ran out of the au jus, but whatevs. My husband ordered a medium sandwich, so we got our drinks and sat down. I also got a small bag of chips too, so I slowly munched on those while waiting for our sandwiches. I finished my chips and we waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, 30 minutes after ordering, our sandwiches arrived. My husband mentioned how long it took and the girl who brought our order out said "oh sorry, there's only two of us". Apparently she thought we were both blind or couldn't count because we could clearly see there was a cashier plus 3 people prepping and cooking. We also saw another employee appear out of the back and leave while we were eating. The wait time *might* not have been bad had the food been worth the wait but wow, what a disappointment. I've never seen such a small sub. I ordered a small, assuming it wouldn't be huge, but for almost $9, it was tiny. It was literally about the size of my palm and I have small hands. My husband's medium was also small and overpriced. Even the pickle spears were small and sad. We had assumed for the prices, their sandwiches would be comparable to Jersey Mike's (which we love) and probably a step up from Subway, but no. I mean, the flavor was good but having more than 4 bites to eat would have been nice. We will not be returning to eat here. There are way better places to get subs at much better prices and you don't leave hungry. Also, because of the wait, we missed our movie time and had to change plans. read more

Food safety + disrespectful staff. We came to Firehouse Subs today and it was an absolute mess from start to finish. I ordered a standard sub with NO vegetables. Simple. When the food came out, my husband and child received theirs, but mine was missing. When mine finally arrived, it was wrong -- loaded with vegetables. I sent it back and asked for a remake. The remake was worse. It came out burnt, to the point where the smell of char was overwhelming, and it was greasy and sloppy-looking. At that point, I wasn't willing to send it back again and risk eating something that had already been handled multiple times. That's not "being picky," that's basic food safety. When I was explaining this to my husband, an employee came over and asked what was wrong. I explained I wouldn't be eating it and why. She said she'd speak to the manager. While waiting, I watched the employee who brought my food walk to the back doorway where another young employee was standing -- and they were smiling and laughing about it like it was funny. (This is same girl ended up being the "owners daughter") The manager did issue a refund, but then another employee inserted herself into the situation and became verbally aggressive, announcing that "her dad's the owner." That wasn't relevant, it wasn't professional, and it didn't fix anything. The manager was already handling it. The attitude and escalation from staff made a bad meal worse. Mistakes happen. Burnt, greasy remakes happen, apparently multiples times at this location. But mocking customers and getting confrontational is a choice. We won't be back and I'll be spending all my free time letting everyone know that Firehouse Subs likes to staff young adults who cannot conduct themselves while on the clock. read more

If they could tell you they don't have what you're ordering. Instead you get in they don't have what you order and then to be charged extra for a poor quality type of meat. If you're giving me a lower quality turkey, don't you think I shouldn't have to pay extra if I'm not getting the same type of quality turkey that I requested if you're not giving me roasted turkey but I'm getting deli meat turkey why am I paying extra? We happened on this place while running some errands on the south side of town. We were starving and decided to have lunch here. Hubby and I both loved it! The décor is so cute. The mural on the wall was very Tucson-centric with one firefighter with a sombrero on! We shared the Virginia -baked ham sub - fantastic! The bread was especially good - it was so soft, and lightly toasted - just perfect! You can get the sub with what it comes with or add your own toppings. We also got the mac and cheese side - that was just ok - I wasn't a fan of the bread crumbs on top. This is about the Oracle location. I go there about once or twice a month but I think I'm done. The food quality has become really inconsistent. I usually order the same sandwich and sometimes it comes out great and sometimes not. Lately, its been not. Ingredients left off (how do you forget lettuce and tomato?), different bread than what's on the menu, shorting ingredients (one slice of pepperoni for an entire sandwich! really?). I can understand a once in a while fail, but its become fairly typical. On the plus side, on the most recent order, the server cut the price in half because of it. I will continue to visit for the beer (although they removed my favorite IPA) because they have a great selection but I'm done with the food. read more

The bread used for the sub was delicious. The sliced turkey had very little flavor on its own. The medium sandwich meal was good, but certainly nothing to write home about. The prices for what we ordered were a bit steep, 2 medium sandwich meals (includes medium sandwich, chips, drink) came to just over $30. There are several 'sit down' restaurants at which you can dine, and get a full meal for about the same price. If you want a quick sandwich and are willing to pay for it, this might be the place for you to go. read more

The wait time for our food was ridiculously long. There was 1 couple that ordered in front of us and we both waiting over 14 minutes for our food. Then the food didn't taste as good as other locations and they overused the sauce to the point the bread was soggy. I hope that this is a one time issue as this location is convenient for us. She checked in on us later to see if everything was okay. We ordered the Turkey/Bacon Ranch and the New York Steamer. We opted for the meals so we got chips & a soda. The total was around $20. Firehouse has become my favorite sub place for the ease of look-n-point-by-picture ordering. Even at busy times, the food quality is consistently good, consistently hot, and consistently moving at a fast pace. They have enough variety to keep me trying me things despite my favorites. These guys have the best subs of any chain! The bread is nice and moist and it won't fall apart. The meats are always juicy and tender and the service is fenomenal! Best part of this location is that if you also want a more substantial dessert than the cookie they offer you can walk a short distance to Coldstone creamery. We enjoy coming here after a movie.
