I'm obsessed with the apple harvest chicken salad, although I'm not a mixed greens person so I always opt for romaine only. The sweet vidalia onion dressing is so good and the candied pecans pair so well with the red onions in the salad. It's seasonal, so it's sadly not a year round option, but I also love the veggie pizza. It's heavy on the toppings, which I love, and big enough that I always have a few slices left over. My son and I meet at this location from time to time, I come from another town and he lives in Tucson and it's an easy place to eat and sit and catch up. We met there yesterday about 11:30. The employees were very friendly as always, food was fine, no issues. My issues yesterday is to the cleanliness. I used the restroom before leaving to get back on the road and it was filthy. It looked like the floors hadn't been cleaned in a long time. You could also find a storage area somewhere for the dirty bathroom tools/bucket etc, a cabinet maybe and not in the bathroom stall? Then after seeing that it made me look around more outside into the dining room, the base of the tables, chairs and rope stands were all a mess, caked with dust and dirt, I'm thinking geez if the public area looks like this I wonder what the kitchen and prep area looks like. Needless to say I think we will find another place to meet up next month. read more

I normally don't take the time to write reviews, but my experience at Schlotzsky's this past Monday was so frustrating that I felt it needed to be shared. The service was honestly some of the worst I've ever had at any restaurant, and it completely changed the way I feel about this location. When I came in, the employees Fabian and Francisco were behind the counter, but instead of focusing on customers or preparing orders, they were playing around, joking loudly, and distracting each other. At first, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt--maybe they were just finishing a quick conversation--but it kept going on and on. My order took far longer than it should have, and it wasn't even busy. I stood there watching them mess around while my food still wasn't being worked on. They moved slowly, kept talking to each other instead of paying attention, and honestly acted like they didn't care at all that customers were waiting. By the time I finally got my food, I was already irritated and completely unimpressed. What should've been a quick stop turned into an unnecessarily long wait, and the whole time it felt like I was watching two employees who simply weren't interested in doing their jobs. If Schlotzsky's wants returning customers, they need to address this type of behavior immediately. I shouldn't have to stand around watching grown employees play instead of working. Seriously, how can you be out of Coke? Again? For the second time this year? NOTE TO YELP: This is NOT to be conflated with my earlier review about the same problem, dammit! And despite a management response to my previous post about the exact same problem back in September, that it was actually available but that their employee just "failed to find it" (presumably the supply refill, not the beverage tap), and that "they would not let it happen again", it happened again. I had to visit one of their many fast-food competitors nearby to get my preferred beverage. Despite supposed "new management", this Schlotzsky's has always been and still is rather hit or miss, apparently depending on staff at the time of one's visit. Like other reviews, I've had them completely "forget" online orders, or get them wrong when the details are all on the printout, or not ready at the specified time, which is a problem since I'm located far enough away that travel time is involved and is the principal reason I place an online order to be ready at a specific time. I've found that I can't do that anymore, and must wait to order after I get there, and then wait for it to get ready - hoping that they actually listened to my specified customizations, which I must now memorize rather than conveniently select them from the online-ordering menu. Unfortunately, despite their admittedly-good sandwiches and other offerings, there is no Tucson alternative to this still poorly-run Schlotzsky's location. read more

Does anyone in Tucson know how to really make a Pastrami Sandwich?? I 'heard' this place did. Well, that's a big NO!! I ordered the GIANT @ $21. All they did was put it on a bigger round piece of rye bread, NOT increase any meat on it. Rediculous!! You can't pick your cheese, so Swiss was it. You can decide no Djion, their secret sauce. Throughout my visit in Texas, I saw Schlotzsky's all over the place. I said to myself... I got to swing on by and check it out. I didn't know it was a sandwich shop until the check-in staff at Worldmark Marble Falls mentioned it to me. She said her brother love's their sandwiches... something special with their bread. As I was leaving Texas, I still have not visited a Schlotzsky's. I was hoping to see one before crossing from TX to NM, but I didn't. I was kinda bummed about it. I must have manifested it because when I was driving through Tuscon, AZ, I saw a Schlotzsky's. I immediately exited the freeway and drove straight here... yes, it was a detour on my way home. Hey, I try not to miss any opportunity for great eats if I can help it LOL. It is a sit-down restaurant so no drive-thru at least I didn't see one. It's a quaint sandwich restaurant with some outside patio seating. I ordered to-go so didn't get a chance to experience the dine-in atmosphere. Anyway, I ordered the Smoked Turkey Avocado Sandwich (I love turkey + avocado combination!) and of course, I was curious about their pizza so I also got their Veggie Supreme Pizza. Turkey sandwich was huge... great portions of ingredients... tons of turkey with a good slab of avocado, however, I thought the bread was a little soft... I was hoping it to be a tad crunchier... it was still good though. As for the pizza, it was a little bland... I know it's a veggie pizza, can't expect too much flavors from veggies LOL. I think they needed some more flavor in the marinara sauce. I probably should have went with the California Chicken Avocado Pizza... oh well, next time! Staff was very friendly and pleasant. Prices were okay. Ambience was nice. While I was waiting for the foods, I took advantage of my presence and used the ladies room. So very cute restroom labels (you'll see what I mean when you see the pics LOL)... it's uniquely different and humorous! After getting my foods and shortly after entering my car, I started googling for Schlotzsky's in CA... my research tells me that there may have been some locations, but they all closed down or they are planning to build them eventually. I still don't know what the outcome is... I may need to consult with my personal Google consultant who is better at googling... you know who you are LOL! Anyway, I am glad I got a chance to try Schlotzsky's even if it was in AZ and not in TX. Thank you for fulfilling my wish! When you're ready, come on over to California if not already. Finally went here after passing it a million times and wondering where they fall when it comes to good sandwiches in Tucson. I appreciate the drive through and after scanning their menu for what seemed like forever, my husband got the turkey club sandwich and I got the chicken pesto Genoa. I have to say I love the bread the sandwiches come in. It's thick and soft, with a crisp that makes it a 10/10. These sandwiches are PACKED with meat and reminiscent of a sandwich you would get at a deli. So though it's a drive through, I would rate it higher than Arby's (which I also do like so no shade) which I still look at as fast food. I liked the pesto in my sandwich but not so much the rest. I feel it was bland and needed some kind of sauce. My husband's sandwich was great. I ordered sweet tea and it tasted the exact opposite.. like the tea they give you at catered hotel events. They give chips with their meals so no fries, but they have at least 5 flavors to choose between (bbq, salt and vinegar, & cracked pepper is all I can remember). This place is pricy though as we got 2 medium meals and paid $30. I will say the sandwiches were HUGE and heavy so I can understand i felt some value in that, but I would not return pay that much for 2 combos. Store clean, staff- the cashier was friendly, ambiance was pleasant. I went twice in one week. My flat bread was good, sandwiches were good with their signature bread. I decided to order the Cobb salad. Huge issues with my food. I must order salads in town 4-5 times a week. This evening about 6 o'clock as soon as I received my salad the bread sticks I couldn't resist, and everything else was very wrong. Perhaps it was the end of the day and the ingredients were prepped in the morning but everything in my salad was old, brown lettuce and avocado, the cucumber coins were see through and mushy, I requested no feta, and the chicken was just wrong... wrong color and texture. I wondered if it was frozen and thawed out because the chicken had the texture of tilapia and was so wrong I couldn't eat it. The guy at work told me about this place. This would be my second time coming here, I'm trying to give it a chance and try out a few things on the menu. So far the food has been good. First time I came I got a roast beef dip, today I got a avocado turkey. I'm going to try out. If you were on a work lunch or pressed for time, this is not a place for you to come. Both of times I have eaten here. I have went through the drive-through and had to park. Today they asked me to park in the number one slot ; however, all the slots were taken. It doesn't take away from the food but, if you're pressed for time stay away. Schlotzsky's has decent staff. They're not mean or come off like they hate their job. They will take care of you. I would say definitely give Schlotzsky's a try. But don't take it as fast food just because they have a drive-through. read more

After a day of things going askew, we stopped at Schlotzsky's for an easy dinner on our way home. Well, chalk up another thing going wrong. I ordered a turkey avocado sandwich. First of all, the picture on the website is SO deceiving. I know, I know, most pics for most places look nothing like the real food item. But still... Anyway, I asked for no mayo on the sandwich, add cheddar cheese and instead of sourdough, I asked for the jalapeno cheese bread. Guess what I got? A really messy sandwich with VERY little turkey, lots of mayo and no cheese all on sourdough bread. I could only eat part of my sandwich after scraping all the mayo off. Best part of that sandwich was the avocado. My husband ordered the Bacon Smokcheesy and it came out the way he ordered it - standard. However it was such a small, flat sandwich with just one piece of bacon on it that it too was a big disappointment. We also ordered a Cinnabon cinnamon roll to take home. Surely that will be good, right? I've always been a fan of Cinnabon but this cinnamon roll was dry despite following the directions in the box to heat it. What a waste. You know, I should have gone back inside from the patio where we were eating to complain about the food but a sudden power outage/surge in the area created some chaos inside of Schlotzsky's. Their menu boards went down which I would assume meant that their registers went down as well. I am sure my concerns and disappointment would have been met with blank stares at that time. I had never been and was driving down Valencia and thought why not. The service was top notch! They gave me info about the app and how I can scan my receipt for points. Really friendly and I didn't wait more than five minutes. Okay so the pictures online don't show how giant their giant sammies are. I figured it would be comparable to subway. I was very wrong. I got the Avocado Turkey sammich and it was the size of a dinner plate. It also had a large amount of avocado on it. It took me two days to eat it. I will say that I needed some salt and pepper as the sammich was on the bland side. But that's my tastes. Holy crap! Where's this franchise been, and why haven't I heard of them before? Of all the places I've tried; Subway, Arby's, Jersey Mike's, Firehouse, Jimmy John's......this has them all beat. It's not even close! I got their signature sandwich with the option to increase the amount of meat. During the ordering process I realized all their sandwiches are warm. As I was going to take it back to my hotel and eat it whenever, if ever, I got hungry, I ordered it cold and with mayo and mustard instead of the garlic dressing. On my way out to my car, I noticed what's been my go to sandwich franchise across the street and regretted not going there. That is until I did get hungry later in the evening and busted out the work of art that was my sandwich! I threw it in the microwave for about a minute and it was optimal. The bread, meat, mayo, mustard, olives, onions, lettuce.....did I mention the meat and bread? It was all outstanding. The menu has changed slightly since I was last in there a few years ago. Over all not too badd it was a really good chicken sandwich. I have always felt their menu was a little overpriced but the combination of ingredients has always been great. Although I didn't get dessert they had an awesome selection of Cinnabon treats. Since my order was to go and I didn't see any hot sauce in the condiment area i asked if he could throw a few hot sauces in the bag. When I got home I realized he dropped a whole bottle in there....super cool. The bottle is labeled moderately palacious Louisiana style hot sauce. My work ordered Schlotzsky's for our monthly all staff meeting. I got roast beef box lunch with jalapeño chips. The box was way cute...and I was optimistic. I took the first bite of my sandwich, and it was fatty. The roast beef was not pink or red at all. Way over cooked...and really fatty. I thought...."I will try a bit from another part of the sandwich". Nope...two fatty bites, and I was done with it. ick. The chips were made by Schlotzsky's...and were...OK. Schlotzsky's always has great sandwiches. I've gone here probably more than a dozen times and I've never had a bad experience with my food. I do order the same thing every time: Turkey Bacon Club, and because it's so consistently delicious I have to get it every time! So, I highly recommend!!! I have been a diehard fan of this chain for decades now, and I think this is the last location in Tucson (at least the Southeast region). I have watched them struggle through new management and employees over the years, but (being a super fan and) it never being THAT bad (nor that great), I haven't written a review before today. There's a new manager running the store and although my order was missing a sandwich a couple of weeks ago on an online submission, this new manager really showed gratitude for me calling to let them make it right. Today I came in to get the replacements and make-it-right order and HAD to write this review. Aside from being thanked by the manager himself and an eager young lady behind the register, I noted a completely new culture among the employees in their pride to be there and their kindness to each other and their customers!! Food has went down over the years. I have been twice recently, and it's been a huge disappointment. The first time I went with my sister the food wasn't anything like we remembered it . We both said that we would never return.... few weeks later my husband and I were driving to our hotel and we passed by the schlotzsky's on valencia I told him nope don't do it but he wanted to see for himself if it were the sandwiches he remembers ... this is where "I told you so" comes into play.. the food was disgusting. The restraunt has a strong sewege odor that makes your stomach curl as you walk in, but the best part is the manager, Lucero.. after we ordered our food.. paid and sat down, they brought us our food not to long after .. about 5 minutes later we were approached by an employee who said our payment didn't go through I immediately got on my bank and verified that the payment did infact go through I showed this to the employee and all was fine.. shortly after the manager Lucero, who told me she was the general manager, came over and started being verbally aggressive in front of our kids over non payment. We told her we paid and showed her the bank account .. she told us that it's our machines this happens a lot I can promise you it didn't go through. After seeing the charge did go through, I called the bank for one last verification, and the teller confirmed the bill went through and was paid. She wouldn't quit verbally assaulting us while we were trying to eat our meal, yelling over and over, enjoy your free meal, and get out of my store. I told her we are paying customers and will leave when we are done she continues to harass and told me now her cashier had to pay the bill.. I told her we'll that's illegal, and why you trying to make her pay a bill that was already paid ... I made a report on bbb, called corporate, and filed a police report on the manager for harrasment and verbal abuse on my children and I . It's sad the business allows this type of behavior. I have called for the real general manager and corporate but haven't heard back. I hope with the money you still from people using the it's our machine scam helps you buy a new system or maybe the money you are taking from the cashier can go towards that. This place needs to be investigated for stealing from customers...always check your account first! read more

This place is great. A perfect stop for a light, but satisfying, lunch after flying into town. Super convenient location to the airport. Sandwiches are really tasty. The bread is amazing. Nice clean atmosphere and friendly staff. Most of the negative reviews are pretty unfair and management takes the time to respond to each one. This will be a regular stop for me when coming to Tucson. read more
