We have been here many times and have always been impressed. Unfortunately, today was a disappointment. My tomato bisque was phenomenal as always. My Caesar's salad however, while tasty, seemed to have been prepared without any cutting/shredding of the lettuce. Each piece was larger than my hand. Worse, my wife's falafel pita came without the pita, tzatziki, cucumbers, etc. Just a plate of 2 falafel balls cut in half. Chef error, we were told. The "corrected" dish was plopped down hurriedly by a disinterested server. It contained all the ingredients EXCEPT falafel. I guess we were to assemble the new dish with the now cold falafel delivered 7 to 8 minutes earlier. Plus, the pita was so over toasted (as in 'burnt') that it wouldn't fold like nicely warmed pita should. Two other issues: my wife's side salad was delivered missing here dressing (same disinterested server). And our entrees didn't qualify for complimentary bread rolls. We acquired 2 for $3. Our waitress Annabeth was wonderful and did her best. And the manager offered apologies. My wife returned the falafel and it was taken off our bill. But no token offering of any kind (free dessert, taking rolls or glass of wine off the bill, no gift certificate for a future visit. I love this place an we will return. But tonight was a true letdown. read more

We got in really late so there wasn't much to choose from. My husband wanted to get a dozen wings and split them with two flavors. The waiter said he would have to order 6 and 6 which is a few dollars more expensive. Just seems like an unnecessary up charge. He also ordered a side of fries which never came. The waiter said he just gave my brother in law more fries and thought they'd share. Excuse me? I ordered the seafood bisque which wasn't good. There were whole pieces of shrimp which tasted kind of funny. I also got onion rings which were pretty good. I really wanted the tomato bisque but it said it had mushrooms in it. The chili said it was made with chunks of beef. Maybe that's a fine dining thing. I tried my mother in law's burger which was good. My sister in law liked her salmon and brother in law enjoyed his ribs. I think if I was in the mood to spend a lot of money on food it would be a nice place for a date night. Stopped by the fireside while staying in Lancaster. Glade we gave it a try ! Food was awesome.! We ordered onion rings for appetizer and they were good and plenty. Just needed more dipping sauce. Entrées were bacon cheeseburger and vegetable lo mein. Both were very good ! Burger was big and not frozen. Lo mein was big portion and very good with nice flavors. Place was very clean and set nicely with Christmas decorations . Our sever Mark was excellent doing a great job ! Like to give shout out to the people behind the scenes for making our food . !! There are so many nice little restaurants in the area that are happy to have your business. Go to one of them. We stopped here (party of two) late in the afternoon. We were one of only a few tables, so busyness doesn't account for the poor service we received. Our waitress didn't seem to want to be bothered with us. We normally tip 50-100% of our bill, but she got 15%. The food was good. Good. But not fabulous. Portions were generous - we had leftovers. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't an experience that will bring us back. read more

This was our second visit to the "Fireside Tavern" in the past year. It is about 90 minutes away, so I think it means a lot that we made a point to find it again. It has a lovely ambiance, with creatively designed lighting and decorations. It has a modern colonial feel. The drinks and food were served quickly and was delicious. Great food, service and ambiance with four different rooms, each with its own unique ambiance. A full sit down bar, two dining rooms. One is more formal; the other less formal. Then another room is close to a sports bar atmosphere. Then there is a summer patio with umbrellas outside under shade trees. I like their prime rib, fried oysters and salads. Highly recommend it. My wife and I had an amazing dinner. It was our first time to the restaurant, and the food, service and atmosphere were top notch. I started with an Old Fashioned cocktail and the wife had a Peppermint Martini. Both were generous portions and flavorful. Then we had the tomato bisque and Manhattan crab chowder. Delicious! Our tasty entrees included the broiled seafood platter and tonight's special - a charbroiled meatloaf with jalapeño jam. Both came with mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus. Went here with my family on Saturday night. They were packed, but still had excellent service! Reese, the new owner, was very friendly and also very helpful! This is a great place to enjoy a meal either as a couple or with friends. While there were children there, it wouldn't be my first pick for young kids. The menu is.suited for people that like to eat meals they wouldn't typically make at home. We were a table of four. We were seated immediately. The restaurant appears to be in an old home. There is outdoor seating too. It was not loud. You could really only hear the people seated next to you. Our server was excellent! He was polite, professional, and clearly took pride in his job as well as making his customers happy. One of us got the muscle appetizer as his meal. It was huge! Dipping the accompanying toasted bread into the delectable pool of muscle garlic white wine sauce. So glad he shared. That bite of dipped toast was the best bite at the table. The fish and chips were yummy too. It's the flaky coating, not the disappointing bread crumb stuff. The side salad was mixed greens, fresh, and clean. We ate dinner outside on the deck under the sprawling willow oak - a nice setting. Stuffed shrimp was a B -- good not great, but worth a try if you like shrimp. Shepherds pie was a C. Good and well-prepared, but 90% potatoes. Mashed twice-baked potatoes with large chunks of beef that required cutting with a knife, like a steak. Limited veggies. I wasn't sure what to expect at Fireside Tavern, but it was so close to our hotel that we decided to give it a try. I was blown away. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip, which is served in a bread bowl along with large chunks of crispy on the outside, soft on the inside slices of bread. The dip was covered with a layer of melty cheese. The dip itself was creamy with notes of garlic. It was some of the best spinach dip I've ever had. The side salad with ranch was relatively simple, but the ranch was top-notch. The burger and fries was cooked well, and the fries included a crispy coating along with a delicious seasoning. The side of cole slaw was great. The decor inside was homey and the service was spectacular. If we ever return to the area, we'll definitely return to Fireside Tavern. read more

Had outside seating available in a tent which was a plus. Generous portions. Food was mediocre. Nothing to write home about. Service was lacking - In case people have forgotten, we are still in the middle of a pandemic so we when asked for extra straws to be brought out, I would've hoped that each straw was individually wrapped. The waitress, without wearing any gloves, brought out a bunch of uncovered straws and dropped them on our tables. Being from out of state, we were shocked by the cold attitude of the certain staff members. We did not appreciate the snippy/short responses of the staff when we asked a question. As paying customers, We are NOT eating there for free. It would be appreciated if we are treated well without any attitude, snippiness or frustration. read more

Wonderful cozy decor in this restaurant. I had the broiled seafood platter - 3 scallops, 3 shrimp, 4 ounces of cod, whipped Yukon potatoes, 6 grilled asparagus spears, and a salad for $29.95. The meal was delicious and filling. Also enjoyed an Irish Mule cocktail which was also very enjoyable. Topped everything off with an apple crisp a la mode. The owners and staff are passionate and caring and treat all guests with respect from the moment they walk through the door. The Fireside stays busy so it is best to make reservations if possible. The bartenders are quick and personable and are always coming up with delicious new combos. Also, if you are gluten free, you will not be disappointed! They have a wide variety of gluten free options and if it's not already gluten free, they can most likely prepare it that way if requested!
