Our family of 12 ate there last night 12/6/25. TERRIBLE!! 1) The soda was flat, 2) the onion soup was tasteless and inedible like bland bone broth with a gob of melted cheese on top, 3) the burger meat was terrible, 4) my chicken parm was burnt and the chicken was tough and rubbery like it was re-microwaved, 5) the fettuccine pasta was very hard and not cooked enough, 6) the rolls were stale, 7) the beer that was ordered was the wrong beer delivered to the table, 8) the fries were soggy, 9) the Shepherd's Pie was mostly mashed potatoes with hardly any meat or vegetables in it!! This was Disrespectful and Disgusting taking people's money like this. THIS WAS THE WORST FAMILY DINNER EVER EXPERIENCED EVER AND ANYWHERE!!! FIRESIDE: People aren't stupid!! Take your 10 year old out of the kitchen and hire a REAL CHEF!! It took a lot of guts to serve us food that was beneath even the worst McDonald's. And to top it off this was such a disappointment for us! Had reservations for 10 on a busy Saturday night and my family and I were seated quickly. Our waitress was friendly and patient while getting our orders for appetizers, drinks, main courses and desserts. I had chicken parm and it was excellent. My wife had the fireside burger and it was very good as well. Highly recommend this place for a celebration (my Mom's 70th) or a date night. Was in the area on the 4th, and we were looking for something that we hadn't had before. Found this place, and wanted to give it a try. We were blown away. Our service was excellent (I think our waitress's name was Sheila, but please don't quote me on that as I'm horrible with names). The food was amazing. Each of the three of us got a salad, thinking that it would be a "normal" size. Well, as you can see from the pictures, there was nothing normal about this size. Amazing tomato bisque soup here. The sweet potato and apple soup wasn't super flavorful. The apricot gojuchang wings were so tasty. The duck was a bit disappointing. A bit salty and the sauce was a bit tart. The vegetables were oversalted as well. Good service and nice atmosphere. read more

This used to be a regular stop for us. We ate there during the transition to new owners and thought there were some issues to be worked out. However our meal this past week raises deeper concerns. My husband had the salmon with apricot - a former favorite - which was dry and the sides were flavorless. I had a new salad on the menu - the warm beet salad with arugula on a bed of whipped feta. Unfortunately there was no bed of whipped feta, there were a few dry pieces mixed with several pieces of chopped beets (which were not warm.) The salad was served in a metal bowl (weird?) and was primarily undressed arugula. I ordered the salmon to top it - which was also sadly very dry. The best part of our meal were the cocktails and our server. We went home hungry. read more

Our first time and we will return. Wife had the strip steak special. The steak was cooked perfectly as was the asparagus and mashed potatoes. I had the braised short ribs. This dish was out of this world. From the bar she had the Italian margarita and I tried two different beers. We were pleased. For dessert she had the chocolate cake special and loved it. Popular spot in Strasburg area, no longer open for lunch, they open at 3. This restaurant is next to a hotel, and close to many attractions in the area. We arrived with a reservation early in the evening so there was not a problem but when we left there was a line out the door waiting. The service was good, and we were promptly waited on. For food, most folks had the tomato bisque, a big seller here. The chicken club pretzel would have been good if the meat was not so tough. Salads were large just as an FYI. Went for dinner today after seeing Daniel at Sight and Sound. This was my 3rd time eating here but 3 of my 4 friends first time. They have yet to disappoint. Great atmosphere, great service and great food. Our waitress Amber was awesome and food was fresh and delicious. We all ordered a variety of items and all enjoyed every bit. First to say when you walked in the staff was so friendly, warm and welcoming. The facility is old world charm, but the best the amazing food. Our non-profit organization recently celebrated its 75th anniversary with a banquet at Fireside's venue, the Willows at Historic Strasburg. We had never done a banquet before, so there was a lot of guesswork on our part. Amanda and her staff did a great job of making the planning process simple. She was always available to answer our questions leading up to the event. The event itself went off without a hitch. The staff did a great job of making it go smoothly, and the food was incredible. We had about 126 people in attendance, and everyone raved about what a wonderful venue it was, and how well the event went. Our group works with individuals with disabilities, and the venue was certainly accessible and wheelchair/walker friendly. We had looked at a lot of venues throughout Lancaster County, and when comparing cost and accessibility, this was definitely the best venue for our needs. If we decide to do another banquet, this will certainly be our first choice. read more

Went here last Saturday with my family. We were told it was going to be a 20-40 minute wait, but we were fine with that because we were able to get some drinks at the bar. The bartender (unfortunately I didn't get his name) working there was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the loaded grasshopper cocktail and it was delicious! We were contemplating on just ordering the food at the bar and hanging out there for the rest of the night, but we were then informed that our table was ready. This is when things started to slightly change for the worse. Our waiter (who I also don't know the name bc he didn't really introduce himself nor have a name tag) was friendly, but lacked attentiveness. There were multiple times we tried to wave him down and he wouldn't come. He would immediately turn his back to us while he either brought us something or would take one persons order. The table next to us also had the same waiter. He checked on the 3 times before checking up on us once! They even got their food before us though they came after us. It's was very frustrating to say the least. We had to rely on other servers to bring us the food and drinks we wanted. Honestly, all of us left pretty agitated. But I will say this: the food here was pretty great! I got the beyond burger with a side of onion rings. When they brought it out, they forgot the sauce that came with the onion rings so I had to tell our waiter to bring some out. I really enjoyed the food I got, but my mom ordered the fish sandwich and it was even better. I got to try it myself! For dessert, the 4 of us split a peanut butter pie and the blonde brownie dessert. Both were good, but the peanut butter pie was my favorite! Fireside tavern is still a good place. I love the homey vibe you get from the inside and outside of the restaurant. If you come here, just hope you get a better server than we did. read more

We have been coming here for years and have not been disappointed until now. We have left good reviews over the years, sadly we can't truthfully do that this time. The failures were on multiple levels. It started off well they had our reservation correct and were seated promptly. The server came over and greeted us and got us started with drinks. She came back with our drink order and proceeded to take our food order. I ordered the rib eye and my wife ordered the stuffed shrimp. When the server returned we tried and failed to order wine. Of 5 red wines on the list only 2 were available and of course they were not the ones most would want to drink. The server blamed it first on the old owners then on a wedding which they were supposedly set aside for. This was odd but okay let's move on. I told them I was not going to have a steak without wine so switch me to a burger and I will stick with beer. Their beer menu is okay. When the meals came out they bussed my wife's knife so she was unable to eat her meal until we were able to get someone's attention to get her a knife. That took a while. My burger was okay at best the one I had up the road was much better the other evening. The burger was cooked almost right, mildly seasoned a hint of a crust. The side fries were good. My wife's dish of what was described as stuffed jumbo shrimp was not accurate. The shrimp would only be considered "Jumbo" to a Lilliputian. The stuffing was dolloped on top rather than a proper preparation and the shrimp were not even butterflied probably due to their small size. Then there was an "Imperial Sauce" that was completely missing from the dish. Making matters worse both the shrimp and the crabmeat in the stuffing were overcooked rendering the shrimp dry and unenjoyable. This was a big let down. Yes,they did try to make things right but these flaws were beyond remedy. Another flaw that is a little beyond comprehension is that some of their best dishes such as the braised beef and shepherds pie were not even on the menu. These and some others were winners for years. There were other odd menu pairings. The shrimp was paired with mashed potatoes which did not go well rather than a rice that would. I am hoping they can fix this mess and get this restaurant back to where it was or perhaps even better. It used to be the best around but we had better meals other nights at places that until now were considered inferior. read more

While visiting Lancaster we made reservations to have diner here for our Anniversary . They received great reviews and we were not disappointed! When we arrived we were quickly seated . Inside it's a bit on the dark side but it has a nice homey welcoming feeling . Our server was vey polite , professional and attentive . We ordered our drinks which were quickly served and a Brie appetizer , which was so amazing with strawberry jam and walnuts ! Our entrees came with salads, I had a garden salad my husband had the Caesar both crisp and fresh ! I ordered the seafood grilled plater with shrimp , scallops and cod . It was amazing , we'll seasoned with a kick ! My husband had their crab cakes , he said it was delicious ! It was not baked with bread crumb crust , it was just a scoop of sweet delicious crabmeat ! Skip!! Beyond disappointing! There were 7 of us and only 2 meals were good. Five meals were dry, dry, dry. Two of us ordered the prime rib with crab and blue cheese sauce. ($42) Another two got the braised pork chops, and they were dry, too. The 5th person got a regular prime rib. Everybody was so disappointed since this was a repeat favorite restaurant on our yearly journeys to PA from VA. The mashed potatoes were huge, hard lumps and the carrots were crazy undercooked. Food was luke warm. So surprised since we go every year and have always loved. We normally don't say anything, but we did mention it to the waitress. She offered to take it away, but we didn't want to wait for 5 people to get fresh meals so we half ate it. Waitress didn't bring our appetizer either, and seemed too busy to keep up. Maybe she was new. Also, a good indicator of a good restaurant is a full house, well, it wasn't nearly as busy as it used to be so we are guessing we aren't the only ones who are now skipping this place. I also noticed the yelp average is 3.9 now! Speaks volumes. Too bad! It used to be our favorite. Manager did not visit our table or care when we mentioned it upon leaving after our bill was paid. Ambiance was lovely, but no fires in any of the fireplaces on a chilly evening. Which I was looking forward to. We will not be returning, and it was bad enough and treated poorly enough to leave a bad review. We have been here many times and have always been impressed. Unfortunately, today was a disappointment. My tomato bisque was phenomenal as always. My Caesar's salad however, while tasty, seemed to have been prepared without any cutting/shredding of the lettuce. Each piece was larger than my hand. Worse, my wife's falafel pita came without the pita, tzatziki, cucumbers, etc. Just a plate of 2 falafel balls cut in half. Chef error, we were told. The "corrected" dish was plopped down hurriedly by a disinterested server. It contained all the ingredients EXCEPT falafel. I guess we were to assemble the new dish with the now cold falafel delivered 7 to 8 minutes earlier. Plus, the pita was so over toasted (as in 'burnt') that it wouldn't fold like nicely warmed pita should. Two other issues: my wife's side salad was delivered missing here dressing (same disinterested server). And our entrees didn't qualify for complimentary bread rolls. We acquired 2 for $3. Our waitress Annabeth was wonderful and did her best. And the manager offered apologies. My wife returned the falafel and it was taken off our bill. But no token offering of any kind (free dessert, taking rolls or glass of wine off the bill, no gift certificate for a future visit. I love this place an we will return. We got in really late so there wasn't much to choose from. My husband wanted to get a dozen wings and split them with two flavors. The waiter said he would have to order 6 and 6 which is a few dollars more expensive. Just seems like an unnecessary up charge. He also ordered a side of fries which never came. The waiter said he just gave my brother in law more fries and thought they'd share. Excuse me? I ordered the seafood bisque which wasn't good. There were whole pieces of shrimp which tasted kind of funny. I also got onion rings which were pretty good. I really wanted the tomato bisque but it said it had mushrooms in it. The chili said it was made with chunks of beef. Maybe that's a fine dining thing. I tried my mother in law's burger which was good. My sister in law liked her salmon and brother in law enjoyed his ribs. I think if I was in the mood to spend a lot of money on food it would be a nice place for a date night.
