My mom and I were driving to our hotel when we passed through Ronks and were trying to find a spot for dinner - I literally typed into Apple Maps "American dinner" because we were just feeling good quality American food and this place popped up! I am so unbelievably glad we stopped here because it was one of the most impressive and tasty dinners I've had in a long time! Their menu isn't super extensive but they do have rotating specials of drinks, dinner, and dessert. I went with the pork chops which came with their seasonal starch and vegetable which was potatoes and zucchini. The pork chop was super flavorful and cooked to perfection. The bacon jam had a sweet and salty vibe which only added to the flavor of the dish. I ordered a ginger and pear mocktail - refreshing. Their drinks looked amazing but I refrained from alcohol for the night , but they were definitely tempting. My mom loved her apricot salmon and had the same sides. Bread and salad a soup are all à la carte add ons. The roll was nice and fresh tasting and my mom had the tomato bisque which she loved and honestly smelled so good! It was covered in melted cheese - yum! We got dessert because of course we had to- all made in house and gluten free. I got the creme brûlée which was hands down the best creme brûlée I've ever had. You could see the vanilla bean flecks and it had a hint of saltiness which balanced out the creamy texture and sweetness nicely. My mom got the carrot cake which was multi layered and came with candied walnuts and caramel sauce. Our waiter was so unbelievably kind and attentive and personable. The restaurant had what appeared to be 3 main rooms. The bar looked gorgeous, we sat in one of the dining rooms which was simply decorated and a bit moody. Holy smokes Fireside Tavern, you hit it out of the park! For anyone who have kids and is gluten free, this place is fantastic! Upon entering we saw a table of books, crayons and drawing paper for the kiddos. We even got goldfish with our kids menus! What a dream for any parent having to bring our little rascals along to steal our food and complain about it too! Our server was absolutely wonderful even when dealing with our 2 unruly kids and a crying baby. Sorry about that. We were a party of 7 on a Saturday at 5pm. The menu looked wonderful with a ton of great options and our food came out so fast too, which is great when you have kids. We shared the poutine, which had a lot of tender meat, perfectly cooked crispy fries and a tangy and warm gravy. I would have liked more cheese, but I'm not complaining that much. I got the shrimp tacos, my kids got the kids cheese burgers, my wife got the crab cake sandwich and my friends got the onion soup, salad with steak and linguine with clams. I was not impressed at all. We stopped in last night for dinner, a rare occasion that I was looking forward to. We made reservations and got there about 4:45. It was not busy yet. The hostess sat us promptly. The server took about 10 minutes to get to us and we were ready to order everything. We ordered two non alcoholic drinks, French onion soup, a Cobb salad with steak no ham, no bacon, blue cheese dressing and green goddess dressing and poutine fries. The soup was decent. A little sweet for French onion. My salad came out with both ham and bacon on it, and I was missing my green dressing. The steak was tough and I wasn't given a steak knife so I was sawing away at it with a butter knife. I picked the ham and bacon off the salad and put it on a side plate. I couldn't get all of the bacon out. The server finally came to check in, I asked for the green dressing and let him know the drinks hadn't come yet. My husband's drink came out. Mine did not. Towards the end of the meal I asked for the drink. It was just soda and peach. When he brought it he let me know it was spiced peach. I wish I knew that when I ordered it. It tasted like booze and I couldn't drink it. When we were finished and our plates were clear the server then apologized for the ham and bacon. Had reservations for 10 on a busy Saturday night and my family and I were seated quickly. Was in the area on the 4th, and we were looking for something that we hadn't had before. Found this place, and wanted to give it a try. We were blown away. Our service was excellent (I think our waitress's name was Sheila, but please don't quote me on that as I'm horrible with names). The food was amazing. Each of the three of us got a salad, thinking that it would be a "normal" size. Well, as you can see from the pictures, there was nothing normal about this size. This used to be a regular stop for us. We ate there during the transition to new owners and thought there were some issues to be worked out. However our meal this past week raises deeper concerns. My husband had the salmon with apricot - a former favorite - which was dry and the sides were flavorless. I had a new salad on the menu - the warm beet salad with arugula on a bed of whipped feta. Unfortunately there was no bed of whipped feta, there were a few dry pieces mixed with several pieces of chopped beets (which were not warm.) The salad was served in a metal bowl (weird?) and was primarily undressed arugula. I ordered the salmon to top it - which was also sadly very dry. TERRIBLE!! 1) The soda was flat, 2) the onion soup was tasteless and inedible like bland bone broth with a gob of melted cheese on top, 3) the burger meat was terrible, 4) my chicken parm was burnt and the chicken was tough and rubbery like it was re-microwaved, 5) the fettuccine pasta was very hard and not cooked enough, 6) the rolls were stale, 7) the beer that was ordered was the wrong beer delivered to the table, 8) the fries were soggy, 9) the Shepherd's Pie was mostly mashed potatoes with hardly any meat or vegetables in it!! This was Disrespectful and Disgusting taking people's money like this. THIS WAS THE WORST FAMILY DINNER EVER EXPERIENCED EVER AND ANYWHERE!!! FIRESIDE: People aren't stupid!! We had a family dinner at Fireside Tavern on 6/27/26. We were a party of 8 . The place was very nice and we started off good . Service went downhill - Jeff was ok but very swamped . We ordered drinks and waited 20 minutes to place our food order - we had 1 child and 20 minutes is not always easy with a child . We ordered 3 appetizers to share that were very good but our meals were served shortly after our appetizers came out . We had requested the childs meal with the appetizers but that never happened . The meals were served and we had ordered 4 Chesapeake melts ($84) all 4 were missing the crab - meanwhile no one came back to check with us about the meal - we had to flag someone down and ask them to send over our server - while he apologized our meals got cold - and the manager brought us our side dishes of Crab ( very salty) and we ate what we could of the cold burgers . After we were not interested in any dessert . No compensation was made for the mistakes - it was a costly one because we will not come back . The manager should have offered at the very least complimentary drinks or one meal comped . It truly left a bad taste in our mouths . We will not be coming back unfortunately . We arrived with a reservation early in the evening so there was not a problem but when we left there was a line out the door waiting. The service was good, and we were promptly waited on. For food, most folks had the tomato bisque, a big seller here. The chicken club pretzel would have been good if the meat was not so tough. Salads were large just as an FYI. Our non-profit organization recently celebrated its 75th anniversary with a banquet at Fireside's venue, the Willows at Historic Strasburg. We had never done a banquet before, so there was a lot of guesswork on our part. Amanda and her staff did a great job of making the planning process simple. She was always available to answer our questions leading up to the event. The event itself went off without a hitch. The staff did a great job of making it go smoothly, and the food was incredible. We had about 126 people in attendance, and everyone raved about what a wonderful venue it was, and how well the event went. Our group works with individuals with disabilities, and the venue was certainly accessible and wheelchair/walker friendly. We had looked at a lot of venues throughout Lancaster County, and when comparing cost and accessibility, this was definitely the best venue for our needs. If we decide to do another banquet, this will certainly be our first choice. read more

Went here last Saturday with my family. We were told it was going to be a 20-40 minute wait, but we were fine with that because we were able to get some drinks at the bar. The table next to us also had the same waiter. He checked on the 3 times before checking up on us once! They even got their food before us though they came after us. It's was very frustrating to say the least. We had to rely on other servers to bring us the food and drinks we wanted. Honestly, all of us left pretty agitated. But I will say this: the food here was pretty great! I got the beyond burger with a side of onion rings. When they brought it out, they forgot the sauce that came with the onion rings so I had to tell our waiter to bring some out. I really enjoyed the food I got, but my mom ordered the fish sandwich and it was even better. I got to try it myself! For dessert, the 4 of us split a peanut butter pie and the blonde brownie dessert. Both were good, but the peanut butter pie was my favorite! Fireside tavern is still a good place. While visiting Lancaster we made reservations to have diner here for our Anniversary . They received great reviews and we were not disappointed! When we arrived we were quickly seated . Inside it's a bit on the dark side but it has a nice homey welcoming feeling . Our server was vey polite , professional and attentive . We ordered our drinks which were quickly served and a Brie appetizer , which was so amazing with strawberry jam and walnuts ! Our entrees came with salads, I had a garden salad my husband had the Caesar both crisp and fresh ! I ordered the seafood grilled plater with shrimp , scallops and cod . It was amazing , we'll seasoned with a kick ! My husband had their crab cakes , he said it was delicious ! It was not baked with bread crumb crust , it was just a scoop of sweet delicious crabmeat ! We have been coming here for years and have not been disappointed until now. We have left good reviews over the years, sadly we can't truthfully do that this time. The failures were on multiple levels. It started off well they had our reservation correct and were seated promptly. The server came over and greeted us and got us started with drinks. She came back with our drink order and proceeded to take our food order. I ordered the rib eye and my wife ordered the stuffed shrimp. When the server returned we tried and failed to order wine. Of 5 red wines on the list only 2 were available and of course they were not the ones most would want to drink. The server blamed it first on the old owners then on a wedding which they were supposedly set aside for. This was odd but okay let's move on. I told them I was not going to have a steak without wine so switch me to a burger and I will stick with beer. Their beer menu is okay. When the meals came out they bussed my wife's knife so she was unable to eat her meal until we were able to get someone's attention to get her a knife. That took a while. My burger was okay at best the one I had up the road was much better the other evening. The burger was cooked almost right, mildly seasoned a hint of a crust. The side fries were good. My wife's dish of what was described as stuffed jumbo shrimp was not accurate. The shrimp would only be considered "Jumbo" to a Lilliputian. The stuffing was dolloped on top rather than a proper preparation and the shrimp were not even butterflied probably due to their small size. Then there was an "Imperial Sauce" that was completely missing from the dish. Making matters worse both the shrimp and the crabmeat in the stuffing were overcooked rendering the shrimp dry and unenjoyable. This was a big let down. Yes,they did try to make things right but these flaws were beyond remedy. Another flaw that is a little beyond comprehension is that some of their best dishes such as the braised beef and shepherds pie were not even on the menu. These and some others were winners for years. There were other odd menu pairings. The shrimp was paired with mashed potatoes which did not go well rather than a rice that would. I am hoping they can fix this mess and get this restaurant back to where it was or perhaps even better. It used to be the best around but we had better meals other nights at places that until now were considered inferior. read more
