Great experience overall. Slow service & food was mediocre. There were quite a few things on the menu that tickled my fancy; however, the apricot/cajun salmon spoke to me. Portion sizes are generous, so order accordingly! Salmon was pretty good but not spectacular. I was lucky enough to sit outside and had an amazing view which was so lovely. Their drinks are pretty good & they have a decent selection of beers, if that's your thing. I tried one of their fruity concoctions & wasn't disappointed. Overall experience was great but don't get your hopes up with the food. If you're a food snob like me, you probably won't be blown away. read more

It was so good we went back the next night during our weekend trip. The food was wonderful and we were able to try several different cocktails from the extensive drink menu, all of which were delicious. The second night we all got a dessert and they were also amazing. The restaurant itself is cozy, especially all decorated for Christmas. We had a most enjoyable evening at the fireside Tavern. I had a group of approximately 14 people for drinks and dinner. Everyone agreed that the food was fantastic. We were amazed at the service, given the large group that we had. I don't think our waiter wrote down any of our orders, but they came out perfectly, the fireside Tavern is a lovely place to have dinner out with family or friends. I have never posted a Yelp review, but for a pricier restaurant, this was one of the worst meals we've ever ordered. The $40+ twin crab cake plate came with two small crab cakes and mushy vegetables (see attached). The $20+ black bean burger was a frozen patty that was microwaved until it was too hard to even take a bite, the lettuce was black around the edges, and the bun was stale. There was a small, black HAIR in the vegetables. The chicken wings, salmon, and burgers were mediocre. The fries and fish tacos were good, otherwise, I would try to give 0 stars. read more

Food is like cafeteria, weak french fries with that coating, chicken tenders meh, bloody mary not sure what the deal was, I've had them all over the country and i could not stomach the smokey flavor, less liquid smoke more v8 needed, I'm pretty sure the pickle that was in there wasn't the one advertised, waitress was friendly and attentive. All in all I had a pleasant dinner experience here. It was your typical ordinary American food restaurant. Decent food. Friendly staff. Clean and welcoming atmosphere. No complaints. However, the only reason I'm giving 4 starts instead of 5 is because nothing about my experience wowed me or "knocked my socks off". If you're looking for a casual, upscale Cracker Barrel this is your place! I would definitely eat here again but I don't know that it'd be my first choice as I've eaten at many places that have gone above and beyond! read more

My only complaint was we were eating the appetizers and before we were even finished they brought us the main meal. I wished they gave us a bit more time to enjoy the first course before the main. This was a nice place inside. The service was a bit slow for not having a whole lot of tables. Although our waitress was really sweet. We tried the famous turtle soup, and it was good. The meals were pretty good, but some of the people in our party were not able to get mash since they ran out of it. We all had steaks and steak salads. We made reservations but we're attempting to get outside dining. I was told that it's first come first serve for that area. So we went a little earlier to attempt that. However, once arrived we were informed they aren't doing outside seatings at all as like most places now, they are short staffed. Wished they'd have told me that on the phone. Luckily I made those reservations for inside as a back up (the older I get the wiser to always make back up plans. Keep that in mind so that these places don't rock your precious, valuable fun time). The restaurant was a good pick. Nicely decorated, clean, comfortable, and we were quickly seated. The waiter was exceptionally good. Very professional but not snooty. Our drinks came quickly followed by our appetizer at just the perfect time. Then our salads arrived a little later and 15 more minutes our main meals. It was like clock work. Bravo! The food was definitely delicious, nothing overly grand but presented well and flavorful. Two of us had the braised beef which was tender and didn't even need to be cut, with mashed potatoes that were an average staple style. The nacho plater was packed with meat, cheese, peppers, etc. The side salad fresh and the typical mix of greens. Desserts were good too but the basic manufactured ones like one can buy in the frozen section at the grocery store. I had peanut butter pie that I liked but was too full to eat it all (a good portion). The apple crisp was descent too but not as crispy as preferred. We were there catching up with extended family after not seeing them for over a year so we lingered a bit long, although we weren't rushed at all (they had a few empty tables so we didn't feel we needed to depart quickly). Over all a good experience. We recommend it when in the Lancaster area. read more

If you happen to be staying at one of the two hotels Fireside Tavern is planted between, you must dine here. Even if you're not, like I was, try to stop by anyways. My family and I chose to dine outdoors for lunch here. Their seating outside is under a beautiful willow tree that provides just enough shade on a summer day. Was in town for an event staying at the adjacent Holiday Inn Express and decided to walk here for dinner. 3 of us ate and I think the bill was around $125. Value and ambience were great. Service wasn't horrible but was a little rough around the edges, hence the 4 star instead of 5. All in all I'd stop again when I'm in town. read more

This is a very nice tavern. The food portions were huge and very well made. The ceasar dude salad was a meal on its self. The hogues are filled to the brim with meat and extremely tasty. Ur waitress was very pleasant but she was not all that attentive to us as she also worked the bar. Our experience here was very good and would highly recommend coming here. read more

My husband and I decided to try this place while we were in PA. We were told the wait would be 40 minutes, it ended up being around 20 so that's good. Staff was friendly and food was alright. I was expecting more from the new burger on the menu the one with bacon jam. It hit the spot but sometimes missing. The fries definitely weren't as good as they could have been, lacked on flavor, but cooked well. I wish I could remember the name of the amaretto drink I had, that was delish. read more

This has been one of my families favorite restaurants for years! I was so excited to see they had a Mother's Day brunch and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent (which is SO hard to find these days) but the food was even better. It's hard to beat hand carved prime rib, but the amazing pork and salmon and shrimp were a close second. And their Maryland style crab soups is the best I have ever had. I am hoping to see a Father's Day brunch soon! read more

We have been coming to the Fireside since it opened and to the Historic Strasburg Inn before that. This time the food was mediocre at best. The crab cakes were more filler than crab. The chicken tarragon sauce was awful and did not enhance a perfectly good piece of chicken. More concerning was the total lack of concern about covid-19 by the staff and management. The Fireside Tavern seems to be a consistent place to get a meal, but you will not be overwhelmed by anything. It is located at the Clarion Hotel in Historic Strasburg, PA, which is not loaded with dining selections, so the Fireside is a hotspot. They have a large menu and respectable beer selection for PA (read: a few micros in addition to the usual East Coast subjects). The service is good and friendly, which is nice. The noise level is a bit high, though. I love trying chili, so I tackled a "crock" of chili and a cheeseburger in the same sitting. Whoops! Way too much food. The chili was good and bad: chock full of meat but basically flavorless. It needed more spice at the very least. The burger was a 1/2 pound, juicy patty, that was cooked to a perfect medium. I was very impressed on my first visit. I sipped a generous gin and ginger as we sat on the patio to enjoy the farmland view as the sun went down. The salads were good...cool and crisp greens, house-made blue cheese dressing. The entrees were very generous and tasty: 1. seared scallops with rice covered with dark molasses and bacon was fantastic. 2. stuffed shrimp was a rich treat -- plump shrimp, rich, and flavorful Our only disappointment was dessert. Avoid the Kahlua flan...not pleasing. Grainy. Truly devoid of taste. I think our server lacked confidence in dealing with this and was unsure of how to handle the situation. On the whole, I can't complain too much when 90% of the food and beverage was truly wonderful. You can tell that they really do cook here.
