Took vehicle in at 11:30am for brake pads and oil change. Was told it my be an hour or two. I waited an hour, then had my sister come pick me up. Went to eat, then to the mall. 3.5 hours later, no call or anything. Another half hour later, I reach out to them for status check and was told that they haven't even started. Extremely livid!! Such a lack of service... not even a courtesy call or anything. I then told them to not even start as I was going to pick the car up and go somewhere else tomorrow. Extremely pissed! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I visited the location to get my brakes done. They persuaded me by upselling brakes, new tires, oil change and rotor replacement which I paid $430. Three days later my brakes began to squeak. I went back to this location and they tried to down play the issue by responding, "This is not an major issue ma'am. This a typical reaction with brakes. They are just hot right now." Two days after that all of my oil leaked out of the car and my engine locked. I towed my car to Firestone (at my own expense) and informed them of the problem. The manager reviewed the car and assumed responsibility for the engine locking. Next they filed a claim, took my car for a month, and replaced my once brand new engine with a used engine. A week after getting my car back, the brakes are now squeaking even louder and the rotors are grinding! I have called corporate twice and NO ONE has returned my call! PISSED....... I AM!!! read more

My overall experience was great. Its often a pain to have to visit a repair shop and fork over $ but today was smooth at Howell Mill Firestone. I had purchased the lifetime alignment deal in 2014 and came here today for another check. I paid $169 for the lifetime alignment vs. $79 for one time. My wife had her car serviced at a local shop recently and they charged $99 for the alignment. I was second in line around 11 am and moved right along. They quoted me about 45 minutes. Shortly, the mechanic brought me out to inquire about my trucks tire rotation. Err, make sure you rotate every 5k miles. My tires were wearing uneven and needed toe adjustment. He was informative and helpful about what to do next with my tires. read more

I came in to have my tire patched due to a bolt in it. They were quick to tell me that it would only take 30 minutes to patpatch it. 45 minutes later they're telling me that they will not patch the tire and that I have to buy a new one from them. A $25 patch became a $250 tire replacement. Pissed. read more

Made an appointment last week , dropped the car off Saturday 7am, I told them the things I needed done. Nobody calls me back or let's me know anything. All day Saturday is like I never went in there and dropped my car off. No calls no emails. Sunday Morning I have to call them, but by then anything that does need to get done can no longer be done because it's Sunday and the techs are not in. No sense of urgency whatsoever instead a list of 100 things that are needed and nothing was done because they don't coordinate their jobs. Won't be bringing my car back here to this location. DO NOT COME HERE. Terrible service. I had an issue with my car and I called Firestone Howell Mill to see what my options were and if they were busy. They told me they could definitely take my car today and have it worked on and get it back by the end if the day, which was great to hear since I work long hours during the week and get off when they are closed. 20 minutes later, when I showed up, they said they weren't sure if they could get it looked at let alone worked on and when I mentioned that I called ahead to double check the counterman and asked if I should go elsewhere, he said well they *might* be able to check on it, no times provided aside from a *maybe* tomorrow. (I suggested that maybe they could look at it and tell me what's wrong and then i bring it to another shop and even that seemed complicated) He walked away to "check" but provided no new information or even an option for me to speak to a manager. He did suggest I called the wrong number since he doesn't know who I talked to and "doesn't know what he number I called", to which I apologised at the suggestion. However when I redialed the number I originally called, the Howell Mill phone rang and their counterman picked up in front of me. He then suggested maybe I leave the car and they *may get to it. If their team is having this much complications and confusion and they aren't paying attention to who is calling, which again I redialed ( and is the number provided in Google), mainly though the counterman was not assuring whatsoever. I left that location with my car and will not be returning. In comparison I ultimately took my car to another shop and they took care of my every need, provided many solutions as well as exact times and addition info to ensure I was taking care of every step of they way to avoid any confusion (it was amazing to see the differences actually) Shame on me, i shouldve checked the reviews. Don't ever go to this location!!!!! or Druid Hills went in for wheel hub bearing that's it, Did not fix it correctly then charged me for two new tires !! told me car was ready even said they drove it lol car is in worse condition then before and I'm afraid I won't be able to drive my vehicle. The sorry excuse for a head mechanic gave me a refund because he knew they messed my car I came in there only to talk before he abruptly threw me out because he seen me and he knew my car I was nothing but respectful until I had to show my hand. A few complaints: 1) Making an appointment here seems to be pointless. My car still wasn't being worked on almost an hour after my appointment time. 2) The interactions I've had with most of the men who work here has left much to be desired. Most of them didn't make eye contact and mumbled when they spoke. I normally avoid this location because of the wait times I've experienced in the past and I assumed that making an appointment would have dealt with that. I was wrong. And to make matters worse, when on of the men in the office area finally realized that my car hadn't been worked on, he told me that it would go onto the rack next, just a few moments after he told another customer the same thing. When I mentioned that I had an appointment for much earlier, he didn't seem concerned and didn't offer any type of explanation or apology. They did finish up with my car within 30 minutes once they realized it hadn't been worked on. All in all, this experience was on par for what I've come to expect from this location. But just because it's expected doesn't mean it should be considered acceptable. read more

The service at this location is terrible! They've had my car for 5 days and counting. I've had to call over 8 times to check up on my car because they weren't giving me updates and you'll be put on hold for 10 mins each time to talk to someone. They charged me a $100 diagnostic fee for something that they could clearly see that was broken. I took a picture of a part that broke off in my car to my dad and he was able to determine the same thing they did just by looking at a photo! The only reason he couldn't fix it is cause he's out of state. I would highly recommend not going to this place. If it wasn't for me having to spend extra money on it getting towed and the fee they charged me, I would take it somewhere else read more

I went to do get a diagnositic done for my car. They gave me an estimate of $1300 for parts and labor for simple fix for valve replacement I went another auto care business, and my estimate was $460. My care is worse off now after two months of lying about contacting my warranty rep to get my car fixed and refusing to return my calls. read more

I'm a pretty patient person. However, if you're going to tell someone it'll be an hour, it better be done in an hour. This goes for restaurants or any other place you'd have to wait. On Friday night, I noticed I had a flat, so I switched it out. On Sunday, I went by Firestone (I have a protection plan there for road hazard, so the repair is free) to get it patched. I asked how long it would take, and was told an hour. I thought that was fair, as they were crowded and I decided to drive around for an hour and came back. Still nothing. In fact, they couldn't even find my wheel! Finally they found it and fixed it up. Then another hour to put it on the car. I almost went out there and did it myself at that point. Total wait: 3 hours. 3 times as much as they told me it would be. On a side note, I also have lifetime rotation and alignment with them. I think since they don't "make a sale" with these plans, when a customer brings in their car, they make their waranteed customers wait longer than someone coming in for the first time. One lady came in with the exact same problem as me, and they put her car up on the rack right then. This is after I was waiting 2 hours. It's not just this location either. I usually go to the one by Perimeter Mall: A 2 hour wait has turned into an entire day without my car. read more

UPDATE: Manager was incredibly understanding after I called him, and did my extra repairs for free. My car is fine now. Absolutely horrible experience with Firestone. Two weeks ago I came to get a flat tire changed and a maintenance check. Was quoted $4000 in repairs. I scheduled an appointment for the following week to just get my front brakes done, but all of a sudden the day before, my car is overheating. I get a quote of $600 in radiator repairs that was never originally on my maintenance check. I'm talking new hoses, thermostat, and new coolant (should've they have checked for all this a week ago???). Well tonight when all is done with the radiator repairs, they call me and tell me the car is ready to pick up. I take a lyft and I pay, get my keys back and head to my car and notice that the battery light is on (it wasn't when i dropped it off). I went back a minute before close and i'm THEN told "yeah the alternator is done for and the battery is drained, we put it in the report". So why call to tell me it's ready to leave the lot, when you KNOW it's unusable and still disabled? I feel really taken advantage of and i know for sure that it's because i go there by myself and they feel they can drain money from a women they feel doesn't know any better. It's like i go to get one thing done only to end up with 3 new major issues not even a week later that also weren't on my maintenance check which is 100% cause for suspicion. Taking my business elsewhere, as i've been a loyal customer for other Atlanta firestone's with no issues until getting serviced at this Howell Mill location. Take your business and money to the hand full of other repair shops on Howell Mill before they get a chance to rip you off like they did me. read more

I've had spotty luck getting oil changes in Atlanta, so I took my car here because I had a coupon. Friday morning is clearly one of the busier times, so I made an appointment and came back at lunch. They were done in twenty minutes. They were extremely courteous, even when I was fifteen minutes late (stupid Howell Mill traffic). The coupon included a free tire rotation which they forgot to do. They apologized and took my car back in immediately, but ended up rotating the tires incorrectly. Probably wouldn't go back without a coupon, but overall good customer service. read more

Hate this place for the following reasons. 1) Timeliness - I brought my vehicle in at 9:30AM. The car sat in the parking lot until 11:15AM. Granted it was a busy Sunday, but all that was performed was a brake inspection. (And tire rotation since the wheels were off anyway). It was 12:30PM before I was back on the road. 3 hours for a brake inspection and tire rotation is ridiculous especially since I saw my car with the tires off for a good 30 minutes with not a single technician around before I was notified of any of the findings. 2) Cost of repair - I asked for a quote for the repair for 2 rear rotor replacements and 2 pad replacements on a standard Nissan Altima. $380. I've gotten all that work plus front pads and front rotors machined for nearly the same price. Also I asked for a quote to replace the struts and shocks on the car. The quote came out to over $1100. The NISSAN DEALER quoted just over $700. Ripoff. (As a sidenote: I went to another Firestone once to ask about an oil change. I use Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic oil and prefer to keep using the same oil. They checked it in their system and and told me it'd be $25 a quart. WHAT?!?!?!??!?!??!?! After they told me it'd be $125 for the oil alone not including labor, disposal fees, etc...I walked out. Again, this was another Firestone, but they use the same system I assume). Anyway, just reiterating...RIPOFF. 3) Lack of communication between staff. One associate was giving me the status of my vehicle and the findings while another associate is trying to upsell me parts that were deemed not necessary based on the finding. Also, it was apparent the associates in the front didn't know too much about the details, so Alan (I'm guessing the manager) is brought to the front and tries to explain the problem to the customer. Bringing him to the front from the shop is a nice touch because the customer assumes he's a knowledgeable individual since he's coming from the shop...but he doesn't have a single grease stain on his hands. When I was a student in ATL, firestone tried to do me sooooooooo dirty. LOL I came there with one flat, which I expected would be a bubblegum fix. After waiting around for a couple of hours, for what I thought would be a repair, the representative says the mechanic noticed three flat tires (that rather than repaired... need to be replaced) and a forth donut... also tried to sell me an alignment. OH REALLY? Now if it wasn't for this aggressive state trooper, old sugar daddy dude wanting to be "my friend," I most certainly would have left to go to the nearest auto body a couple blocks away. Yea so I go up there saturday cause I got a nail in my tire on the tread. So I give it to em and they tell me 30-45 minutes...cool! no problem. So then the guy comes back 30 minutes after that and tells me the tire can't be repaired because of where the nail is at. Now who the hell do you think I am? If the nail isn't in the sidewall then the tired can be repaired. Then he tries to then sell me $150.00 tire!!!!! What kinda Stuff is that!?!?!?! So I decline the offer and tell him to put my tire back on. Next day I go to pep boys in Kennesaw and what do ya know. THEY CAN FIX MY TIRE. And the NAIL WAS STILL in there!!!! Ay DON'T GO HERE. I'm a fairly reasonable guy... and I give second chances, so here's my story... I used to go to a Firestone up in Woodstock that was honest and did excellent work for a reasonable price, so when I moved I expected the same level of quality and service from this Firestone. This is not the case. Some vehicle/service background: I drive a 2004 Montero Sport. It's well kept, no accidents, and I'm the only owner and driver. I've used this place 3 times. ----- Service #1 Request: First time was a simple oil change, new wipers, and a tire rotation. I also asked that they would top-off all the fluids including the windshield wiper fluid. Service #1 Result: Oil was changed fine. The new wipers were good on the front, but they forgot to replace the back blade. They didn't top-off any of the fluids. And the tires were rotated correctly. ----- Service #2 Request: New tires, oil change, wipers, and some new belts. Service #2 Result: They installed the new tires correctly, left the cap off my oil, forgot the back wiper blad again, and replaced only 3 of the 4 belts I paid for (I noticed this a few weeks later). Also, my radio somehow stopped working (noticed it as I was leaving), so I had to turn around and get them to reconnect something. ----- Service #3 Request: My AC stopped working, so I took it up there for an estimate. Service #3 Result: They charged me about $50 to look at it and then said it would cost me $1,400 for a compressor, dryer, and valve. They also strongly recommended another $1,600 in fixes (including belts I had replaced by them 6 months earlier). I went to NAPA and bought a compressor, AC dryer, valve, coolant, and an entire set of belts for under $400 (a third of what they quoted the parts). I'm currently looking for another mechanic, or I may just do it myself. Today I noticed, they didn't put the belt for the AC compressor back on when they were finished with their diagnotics - probably in case it started to work again on its own. ----- The bottom line is these guys are your stereotypical "slimey mechanics" your father told you to look out for. I recommend staying as far from this place as possible! read more

Say what u want about the service here but hot damn cheapest tires around. I even went 2 sizes bigger on my tires for $400.00 and got all 4 new ones. I was blown away by the tire prices. I came during Memorial Day weekend and the wait wasn't so bad just 1 hour and 40 minutes, but they were packed. I couldn't complain it was on a whim but I am one happy customer just because the price was soooooooooo sweet! And the service was crew were extremely nice, well mannered and attentive. read more

so, before my drive to VA, i stopped here to get my oil changed. The service was nice...the little lady who was working at the front desk was really friendly and warm. Small talk, yada yada yada...was a bit too early for that but i appreciated it. I booked an appointment online because i wanted to ensure that i get seen at a decent hour since i needed to get on the road. I received a confirmation email and everything...of course, my appointment was nowhere to be found...ugh! annoying!!! they, of course, bring me a list of "recommendations" that i should get before giving me my damn oil change. i respectfully decline and ask to please continue with my oil change...everything seemed to have gone well until i get to VA and my father notices that a metal piece of the front of my car (on the hood) is broken. and it wasn't like that previously. roar. my dad calls. they give him no trouble. they oblige and say they'll fix it or we can order the piece and they will do the labor for free. thanks Firestone. good times/but not really. read more

Re: Howell Mill Road location. Been there 3 1/2 times for service. EVERY time the service took at LEAST 3 hours longer than the time they quoted. They don't follow up on doing things they promise to do. Appointments mean NOTHING at this location at all. This last time I 'attempted' to use them, I was proactive. Made an appointment, they promised to order the parts they would need for my vehicle. Day of appointment, I'm there on time for the apptmnt that was supposed to take "1 hr in & out". 2 hrs later they tell me they didn't order parts & don't even have the oil for my vehicle. Never going back here again even though it's closest location to me. read more

Avoid this place if you can. I had my car dropped off on a Monday and was told that it would be completed by Thursday (at the LATEST). I did not hear from them until Friday and when I did, they told me that someone who worked there ordered the wrong parts and that my car wouldn't be complete until the next week. Called today to ask a wait time on an oil change and tire rotation, was told "I have a tech on the couch right now I'd be happy to put to work." Arrived 20 minutes later, checked in. Started catching up on work emails from my phone, and more than an hour went by while my car stayed sitting in the parking lot. The explanation I received was that one of their techs was trying to finish up with another car before bringing mine in, accompanied by a relatively hollow apology. I don't appreciate the lie I received, and will never do business at this location again. NTB just got a new customer, at least they tell me on the phone it'll be an hour and a half wait. I had an appointment at 4pm for a tire patch. I left work early and arrived at 3:50 and was told that there was only one car in front of mine. After waiting for an hour and a half I asked them to check on my car. After checking the gentleman told me "oh they're pulling it in now." They let me sit here for 1.5 hrs. I could have been picked up and come back. Not a problem. I understand if it is busy it will be a long time, even for a tire patch, but let me know, don't just leave me sitting here wondering. Edit: It did only take 15 mins to patch my tire once they got started. The manager (I think he was the manager) was nice and apologized, he even gave me a cupon for an oil change. So I am pretty car-inept. I hate to admit this, but I pretty much know how to operate my vehicle and that's about it. When my tire pressure light came on, I brought it to this Firestone hoping that it was just a minor flat repair. Personally, I didn't have any glaring issues with service. For the most part he was pretty patient with me, even when I refused to believe that really I just needed to put air in the tires. In fact, the representative allowed me to bypass the line and sent me straight to the mechanic. Apparently, no flat, the tires just needed air. I was in and out within ten minutes and the entire service was comped. Granted, there wasn't much that needed to be done on the vehicle. read more

I came in for a simple oil check, and to replace one tire. They told me that the other three needed to replaced, and I was okay with that. Then, I needed new brakes and two new air filters. I was okay with that, too. After paying $598 and spending 3.5 hours here, I was done. Or so I thought. I drove off, and my "new brakes" we're squeaking loud enough that a police officer asked me to stop. I called and CAME BACK just to find out the job wasn't done properly. I've been a Firestone customer for YEARS, but I will not come back to this location. If I pay for service, it should be done completely. No customer should pay for all of the recommended service just to have to return 5 minutes later. *UPDATE* Come to find it the brakes were not done properly. And the technician offered to fix it if I would take him out for a drink. I've now been here 6 hours and counting. My attorney will be contacting the corporate office. read more

My daughter's car had to be towed from Georgia Tech because of white smoke. I spoke with them on the phone...explained I was several states away and could they take care of my 19 year old. They tried for several days to replicate, ran diagnostics and couldn't find an issue. They called me each day until she could come pick it up...they couldn't have been more courteous!!! They made me feel grateful to have someone who was watching out for her so far away. I am so impressed and touched by these guys, I can't even express how wonderful this very stressful situation turned out! read more

I am a bit torn on how many "stars" to give. First, I loved the service to my car. The mechanic/technician was great. Julie and the other front-desk staff were also awesome. My only problem was the wait...the 4 hour wait. I am ok with the 4 hours, but I would have much rather known that up front. All of the staff was knowledgeable and seemed very honest. I find this these two qualities too difficult to find when dealing with getting my car fixed. I recommend this location, just plan on leaving your car there and returning later. read more

Wow. I bought 2 tires, they of course tried to sell me an alignment ... Which I bit on. The ordeal took longer than the hour they estimated. Finally they call, I frogger my way across Howell mill, walk in and pay. I walk out to check out my sweet new tires that I just shelled out $300 plus bucks for ... And there are the old ones still on my car! So another 40 minutes pass by and I finally get my car with actual tires and all I get is an awkward apology. I was almost stolen from. If I had driven off would they have even believed such a crazy story if I came back the next day? Avoid like the plague; try the Goodyear across the highway or Gordy tire, or any of the other 5 tire places on Howell Mill. read more

Basic oil change took over an hour (62 minutes). Then was told I need a re-alignment. Last time, I needed new brake pads and rotors. New rotors was something the dealer told me upon second opinion that you shouldn't need done. Seems like it's always something extra here - like your stereotypical car service place that will nickel and dime you because you're not a car expert. read more
