Took my car in for alignment and oil change. They performed these things fine. About an hour after I dropped it off they called to say the cabin air filter was dirty and asked if I want to have them change it for $49. I declined: when I picked up the car it turned out it would have cost closer to $125 with parts/labor that they didn't tell me about. So I'm glad I said no: I think I can learn that myself on Youtube or have my local mechanic do it for less. Also, they did not mention on the phone that my inspection was expiring this month. They pointed it out when I picked up the car but I would have loved to have had them do it while it was still there. Another big gripe I have with Firestone is that they apparently sign you up for some kind of survey. I've been getting 2 calls a day starting early in the morning: when you call the number back it does not tell you anything, and they don't leave messages. I just had the number blocked so I don't have to deal with it anymore. I generally don't use Firestone because I feel like they are too money-focused and not very customer-centric. The idea of a follow-up survey is nice, but numerous phone calls per day is not, and a message (or even a notification from the service staff that I should expect the call) would be nice. read more

This Firestone has walked us through new tires, inspections, general maintenance, and even the sad news that a car was dead. The team has always been friendly and courteous and they explain the service that needs to be done without over selling services. The place is always clean and the waiting area has interesting shows on not nasty news. Making an appointment if possible is always better but we all know that some things are emergencies and I'm listening to them handle one right now. Very good! read more

I have been a Firestone customer for over a decade and after three incredibly disappointing experiences over the past nine months at this location, I'll never go back to this store. I'll go in chronological order. 1) I took my car in for an oil change. The next day my car was smoking and there was a boiling sound, so I took it back in. The mechanic hadn't screwed all the caps back on. So they tightened the caps and sprayed the liquid off. The next day my car wasn't running right so I took it back in. They had sprayed water into my engine and had to replace a part. (To be fair, they apologized and paid for it.) 2) I took my car in for an oil change and was told my brake pads needed to be replaced, so I said sure. The next day my brakes were incredibly soft, so I took it back in. I never got a full answer on what happened, but they flushed the brake lines and it was back to normal. (Once again, at their expense.) 3) I took my car in for an inspection. I was told my taillight was cracked and it'd cost over $300 to replace it. I asked to see the crack. There was no crack. There was "water" (actually condensation) in the taillight. I took my car to a different mechanic who laughed and compared it to a glass sweating. He removed the taillight casing, wiped it off, replaced it, and then sprayed water all over it. Big surprise, there was no water in it. Really makes me wonder how much other unnecessary work they've charged me for over the past nine months. read more

UPDATE: I posted a review yesterday about a couple of negative experiences we had with this Firestone location. Posting negative reviews on Yelp is rare for me because I am not the overly-critical or sensitive type. But I felt like something had to be said about what happened to us. I was not expecting a reply, much less one the would cause me to edit what I wrote yesterday. However, less than 24 hours after my original review I received a very nice phone call from Mike, this location's manager. What a stand up guy. He owned up to the issue and assured us it would not happen again. I've been in the customer service business for 25 years and it seems customer service isn't always a company's first priority anymore. But my experience with Mike leads me to believe he truly puts the customer first. read more

I want to give a big thanks to all the great people at this Northcross location. Its hard to find a mechanic shop you can trust nowadays, but I can trust you guys with my Titan any day of the week. I appreciate you guys. So I dropped by this Firestone location earlier this month because they had a really good 4-day only special. I wanted to take advantage of the sale and buy 4 new Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 tires for my Titan. I arrive at the location and am greeted by CJ, a really great guy. He tells me my tires should be coming on the next truck first thing Monday morning. That was outside of the sale period, but he assured me he would still honor the sale price. Unfortunately, come Monday, I am told the tires didn't arrive because they are sold out everywhere and are on backorder. But because they had already promised me the tires, they said they would personally order the tires from another location out-of-state FREE OF CHARGE just for me. I asked around and sure enough, these tires were not available anywhere because they were a New Release that was a big hit. A few days later, I get a call telling me to bring in my Titan because my Revo 3 tires had arrived. I walk in and everybody seemed to already know about the Revo 3 tires. They were super excited about installing these tires. I was even told that they ordered an extra 4 tires so they could honor any road hazard issues I might encounter. The installation went great, my Titan rides super smooth. When it came to paying, just like they said, they honored the sale price and added another discount on top just for the few days delay in getting me my tires. I walked out with 4 new tires and the whole package (balancing, lifetime alignment, road hazard, etc.) for a REALLY REALLY great price. Thanks again to all my new friends at this Northcross location. This is without a doubt the best interaction I have ever had with a mechanic shop. The tires are running great and thank you for being so thorough with the courtesy check. I tried giving this place a second chance after my last not-so great experience but that was a huge mistake. As another reviewer said, be prepared to get ripped off if you are a woman. I went there to have them repair my tire which had a nail in it but: *Took an hour and a half even with an appointment. *For some reason they went over my engine during my tire repair finding "issues" such as my battery and my air filter. The mechanic actually told me there is a chance my car might not start tomorrow because my battery is in such bad shape". This is what they told me more than 6 months ago when they looked at it. Nice scare tactics. *They also went through my glove box during my tire repair and whoever did it did not bother to put things back. Why are they looking through my glovebox? This is the very last opportunity I will be giving them. There are too many options in town to have to deal with this. Ladies, I recommend you take a guy with you or just go elsewhere. read more

We have an older car and have been in this Firestone several times for several different things lately. I HATE spending money on car repair with the white hot intensity of a 1,000 suns, but the repairs were needed. I also HATE waiting for anything, but the staff there have been great each time. The latest time was the most expensive and the guy actually seemed bummed that the most expensive option was unfortunately the route we had to take (catalytic converter). So it goes. I'm taking our old car back tomorrow to get the latest thing checked. I've gone rounds with dishonest mechanics before, but this is a good/honest crew. read more

So we have an American car that's a few years old, but for some reason NOBODY had the correct battery for it. The battery just died. We had it jumped, but if we turned it off had to get it jumped again. We drove into this firestone after over an hour of calling around town and dropping into two other LARGE chains. Our toddler daughter was asleep in the car and we really didn't want to have to move her. She had already been shuffled around town and was super crabby. The service tech came out to the parking lot IN THE RAIN, to collect vehicle info. He located the battery that was in stock (which he said was standard in stock). Then they replaced it in less than 20min from the parking lot without us having to wake the kid. That's what I call stellar service. OH and they quoted the best price also! read more

I have been to this location more than 5 times and each time I have left more disappointed than the time before. I only returned in the past because it is close to my gym so I can run there while they work on my car. Two times ago that I went I had my windshield wiper replaced (took 4 hours) I walked there and back home twice because they told me it would be 30 minutes, a week later the windshield wiper popped off in a rain storm so I brought it back in and the customer service rep joked about it. This is now the 3rd consecutive time I have been quoted 1-2 hours tops wait time and have waited over 4 hours. Each time instead of an apology I've gotten a joke about how long it took (ex, "you can finally have your car back") yeah, not very funny when I've been carless all day. Do not go here, work is careless and the employees will lie about the wait time to get more business. read more

(Regarding Firestone's Austin, Northcross location)...Unless you enjoy being: ripped off, lied to, baffled with BS and confounded with their inability to answer, what should be simple questions, then AVOID THIS PLACE !!! I have an auto repair business. Within the last two months I've tried to help out two of my customers with getting parts ( that they'd purchased from this Firestone ), replaced under warranty. The first customer had a battery that had failed. Prior to calling this "complete... (whatever) auto "care" "... (another whatever) location, we trickle charged and load-tested the battery to confirm that it was dead and wasn't going to hold a charge. The battery had a date on it and my customer had an invoice from them indicating it was not very old. I called them (not mentioning that I have a shop) and told the guy that the battery had been charged up and it tested, as bad. He located the invoice in his system and I asked what it would cost to get the battery replaced under their warranty. The person I spoke with said, they'd have to look at it..."fair enough" I thought. Then I asked him to join me in a game of "let's pretend". ( I didn't actually use those words). I asked "what would it cost to get the battery replaced under warranty, IF, after you have the car there, you conclude that the battery is dead ?" That's when the nonsensical "circle talk" ensued. He would NOT give me a straight answer. When i pressed him on it...pointing out that he knows the age of the battery and when it was installed, he said (and this IS a quote) "well...now you've opened up a can of worms." My first thought was "Huh ???" My second thought was "This is a very straight forward situation...he has all of the necessary information to give me a price. What "can of worms !!" ? Conclusion...my customer bought a battery from me. The next customer, whose relatively new wife has been a customer of mine for many years, came to me with a big estimate from this F-stone to address a vibration he was feeling anytime his car was rolling. Their outrageously high estimate to address the issue included, amongst other things, replacing a c.v. axle and a wheel bearing . I drove the car, literally 30 feet, and said, "it feels like you have a really bad, out of round front tire." I got out, inspected the tire and BINGO !!...NAILED IT !! ...Tire replaced...vibration magically gone. Today was the final straw. (Speaking of things nailed)... Another of my customers had two nails in one of his year old Firestone tires. The nails were right in the middle of the tread. Patching them would definitely work. Knowing how much FUN it is to deal with them, I told my customer that if he arranged an appointment with them to have the tire (which supposedly had road hazard coverage) patched, I'd drop his car off there for him. (They're less than a mile from my shop). He told me that they never answered the phone. I went ahead and sent two of my guys to drop it off...instructing them to find out how much it would cost to get it patched under warranty BEFORE leaving it there. Naturally this became another needlessly complicated, mind numbing situation. One of my guys, being utterly confused by the manager's "approach" to this simple tire fix, called me and handed his phone to the manager. Said manager went on to tell me TWICE that "they'd "need to have the car there" to inspect the tire. I mentioned both times "the car IS there." My employee is literally standing in front of him with the key in his hand. Bottom line ...he declared the easily patchable tire, to be beyond repair and gave my guys an estimate for a new one. I took the tire to NTB and they patched it with no issues. If you. the reader, made it all the way through this, you deserve a bowl of ice cream or maybe... a candy bar(?). Just don't take your car to F@#%stone. I'm done now. I feel better. : - ) read more

I stumbled upon this Firestone after the one closer to me had an issue with their AC machine and the dealership I normally go to for repairs had a 4 day wait. I went in with an AC issue, they got me in quick and fixed the issue. When the AC started blowing hot air a few days later they quickly took a look at it (they had repaired the fan so this was an unrelated issue) and fixed the issue. The entire time they have been helpful and provided excellent customer service. I highly recommend this location and will be making the drive to them for anything car related in the future. read more

Kenny and the team we're so friendly and and even offered us a twenty dollar discount for waiting (even though it was only a couple minutes longer then expected). They were upfront about the cost and services needed and let us know what was urgent and what we could afford to wait on. I never felt like we were being oversold or taken advantage of. Whoa. This place used to be my go-to car place. I went this week to get my car inspected, something I've done there the past two years, and also to get my oil changed, which they've done many more times than that. There was a sign outside that said "new management, new attitude." I should have noted that more carefully! The lady behind the counter was not like the previous sweet receptionist, Christine. I missed her. She was rude, answered phone calls and kept avoiding having to help me. When she finally did, she got everything from me, and said they'd give me a call when the work was done. I asked for a time estimate, and she said maybe around five. At six thirty, I was worried they would close without calling me, so I called them. The guy who answered said my paperwork said I'd pick the car up at five. That was so not what we agreed! He said if I headed over to pick it up now, he'd wait for me, which is why I'm giving them a second star. He also gave me a $6 discount off my oil change, which was something. He was nice, and apologized, so I will give him that, but I won't go back. read more

I took my car here for a simple oil change. I have no reason to recommend them and several reasons to say I would not take my car here again, especially for anything more serious. After dropping my car off, they called me to tell me I "needed" new tires, even though may current pair has less than 20k miles on them (and they're good tires - I forget the exact warranty but I believe it was approximately 60k miles). The employee was sour when I told him no. When I went to pick up my car, the total was $30 - not a great deal for an oil change. I then noticed a sign that advertised a "7 for 1" deal where you get 7 different services, oil change included, for just $35. So they were happy to try and up-sale me $700 worth of new ties when all I wanted was an oil change, but didn't bother to tell me about a special that I would have actually been interested in. There were no complementary services performed you'd get at many other places, with the exception of the standard fluid checks. No floor vacuum, no window wash, etc. Also, you know the sticker they always put on that states when you're due for your next oil change? Well, they even didn't bother removing the current one. They just slapped the new one on 3-4 inches to the bottom right of it, completely crooked, and literally obscuring my view. It took me about 10 seconds to peel the old one off and properly place on the new one. If they're that lazy with putting on a freaking sticker, I'm scared to think what kind of job they actually did with the oil change. Based on this experience, I see no reason to take my car into this location for any type of service. read more

Kevin has been a huge selling point on why I chose this place to have work done on my ancient Jeep. He is professional, accommodating and understanding of a poor, working woman's budget. Though the price tag for the work needed on my brakes is horrifying...that's not his fault and he worked with me to help me get the best angle on tackling the 'necessaries' first. Wow! I was shocked to read the 3 negative reviews for this Firestone. I noticed that they were from last year and can only assume there has been a change in management. I have had a fantastic experience at this location. Earlier this year my wife took our car in for an oil change and just an over view of the vehicle. We waited until the last min and were leaving town the next day. She took the car in 15 min before closing. Ron (manager) asked one of the service guys to stay late and they were able to get us taken care of that night. A few days ago I took the car in because my headlight was out and every bay was full. Again I was met by Ron. I told him I was willing to leave it and come and get it later because I could see how busy they were. He told me to pull my vehicle up to one of the bays and changed the light personally. Very impressive! He easily could have said "come back in a few hours" but instead took care of me right there on the spot. The prices are fair and the customer service has been amazing so far! I took my 2015 Honda Fit to the Firestone at 7806 Northcross Dr., Austin TX, to get the oil changed 2 days before Thanksgiving. In order to access the oil filter and drain plug on the Honda Fits, the plastic front splash shield must be removed and then put back on afterwards. As best I can tell, the splash shield was not properly reattached, because later that same day after the oil was changed, the splash shield came loose and started dragging on the road as I was driving. Because of all the craziness with the Thanksgiving holiday, I wasn't able to get my car into the Honda dealership to have them look at the shield until the next week, by which time the splash shield had almost completely ripped in half and in so doing had damaged another part of the underside. It cost close to $300 to replace. I sent a note to Firestone's customer service and got a call the same day from the manager of the Northcross store asking me to come in to talk so they could help make it right for me. When I went in today, the manager was off for the day, but had already explained the situation to the service manager, who promptly refunded me the ENTIRE cost of the repairs that Honda had made to my car, along with his profound apologies. I have read many horror stories online about Firestone's upselling tactics and poor customer service, but I have to tell you, my experience with Brandon and Penn at the Northcross store could not have been further from that. Frankly, I have never had such an amazing and rewarding customer experience with any company as I have with these guys. My wife and I were simply blown away by how they immediately offered to reimburse the full cost of the repairs, no questions asked. On the wall of the store is a banner with a quote from Harvey Firestone, the founder of the company, that states "I believe fundamental honesty is the keystone of business." I can tell, the guys at the Northcross Firestone have taken this value to heart and embody it in every way. I cannot say enough good things about my experiences at this store and that is why they will continue to have my business -- thank you so much! I am a very satisfied customer. read more

They wanted me to pay half the cost of another tire to replace one that went flat that I got from them 1 week ago under warranty. Made an appt for 9am for an oil change, opted to leave the establishment expecting a completion call around 1030, 11 tops. Should not take any longer than that. 11 rolls around and I head back and they hadn't even started. I understand you're busy, but at least give a courtesy call to let someone know. Huge fan of these guys. Been bringing my jeep here for years and hands down, every single time they take extremely good care of me. One gentlemen even brought back a part from his own house - for feee! - just to keep me from having to spend tons of money on a new fuel tank. Once, the dealership wanted to charge me for all sorts of work, couldn't swing that so I postponed, but brought my jeep in for an oil change, told them about the work the dealership wanted to do, and it turns out that Work didn't need to be done. I've been there two times and had no problems with them whatsoever. They've been accurate with their time estimates, done a good job, and been fairly friendly both times. The second time I came in for new tires. I told the guy I wanted to get them cheap and he helped me save $80. While they worked on it, they noticed that my car was running very low on oil and topped it off for free. That saves me another $20 or so. Way to go y'all! read more

Took my car in for an alignment and they said I needed to replace a couple suspension parts on the driver side and handed me a quote for around $1000. I bought the parts for around $200 and replaced them myself in about an hour. I took it back and they said they'd get "right on it." Alignments shouldn't really take more than an hour so 3 hours later I show up wondering why they haven't called to say it's complete. After about 10 minutes the guy comes out and says they couldn't do it because it needed these suspension parts replaced. The same ones that I had just replaced.. it took him another 20 minutes to find out it was the passenger side and that they had originally told me the wrong side. Bought the parts and replaced them again on the proper side, took it in and finally got it aligned. Now there's a loud knock sound whenever I brake or accelerate hard coming from the driver front suspension. It sounds like something is shifting back and forth and it wasn't there before the alignment. I take it in and they want to charge me for a diagnostic on something they had to have broken themselves. And this is after I wasted my time and money on parts I didn't need because of their incompetence. Whatever I guess I'll pay, well now they don't have time for me and can't even schedule a day for me to come in. I had a back and forth with this guy that went a little like this Guy "we can't do it today, we're too busy" Me "that's fine, when can you do it" Guy "come back tomorrow" Me "what time then?" Guy "not today, we're too busy" Me "I get that. When can you do it?" Guy "sometime tomorrow I guess" Me *stares* Guy *stares back* Me "what time can I schedule for tomorrow" Guy *literally doesn't answer* This firestones employees collectively can't run this shop at all. Eventually the manager got involved and the best he could do was offer me a free alignment like I'd over trust those idiots around my car again. read more

I dropped my car off yesterday morning, thinking that it was gonna be about $2,500.00 for repairs, tires, and service. I stopped by for an oil change and to get my brakes checked. I was really nervous that I would have a big bill (my brakes have been making noise for a while, I just have not had extra money to fix it.) To my surprise, the cost was very reasonable. I was impressed with the customer service and professionalism here; that is the reason this location has become the place I will always bring my car. It is a great location; really easy to find and I was able to walk to the mall while I waited for my car to get fixed up. After my oil change the technician tried to tell me that I had an oil leak, which was not true and showed me $1500.00 in recommended services that I needed. Tried to give the dealership one last chance to perform service work and the service department was given me an unwelcome feeling. Called Firestone while I was at the dealer and spoke with Mike, decided after speaking to him to trust Firestone to perform the service work. I took my car here for an alignment issue while driving across country. After they test drove my car they printed out the alignment record and everything seemed like it was in good shape. $75 later I was ready to hit the road. As soon as I left the lot I realized my alignment didnt feel fixed at all.. it still pulled very hard to the right. Something they could not have missed during their test drive. I mean you change all four lanes on the freeway with this pull. I called Firestone and they refereed me to another shop saying they were too busy and couldn't get me in for a few days. So, I went to the shop Clock Tower Dr. They told me that I had "repack my wheelbarings" and it was a $350 repair. So, I said your the "EXPERT" Ill trust you that it would be fixed. Well, my car was not fixed. In fact the mechanic said that it wasn't any better and probably wasn't the correct diagnosis. But, the cashier was quick to get me out the door and $346.07 + $75 later I am stuck with a mis-diagnosed car that still pulls to the right. Thanks Firestone. I appreciate your "expertise" read more

I took my car here to get the tires balance, aligned, and rotated. I've had mixed experiences with various Firestone locations, with some providing good service and others trying to tell me that my car's tires are likely to blow out in the very near future if I don't change them right away, when my car only had 30,000 miles on it. So, I never know what to expect. The staff at this location provided good service and did not try to recommend things that my car did not need. They pointed out that there was some wear on the edges of my tires and that I should probably start thinking about replacing them, but did not try to pressure me in to getting it done right away. I had to wait about 2 hours for my car to be ready, but I could tell that they were really busy, so the wait seemed reasonable. read more

Brought my car in at 5 on a Friday with a completely flat tire. The shops phone was ringing off the hook, and they were working through a line of cars ahead of me, said they'd do the best they could to get the tire repaired before they closed. Less than an hour later, I got a call that it was repaired and ready to be picked up. I bought the road hazard warranty last time I got new tires, and glad I did. I had a pleasant experience with this business today. I ran over something this morning while dropping my kids off at school, and could hear the air quickly escaping the front tire of my car. I rushed my kids into school and raced over to the closest place I could find before the tire went completely flat. I ended up here, at the Firestone station at Foster & Northcross. Kevin came to out help immediately. We took at look at the tire and found the puncture near the outer side of the tread area. I knew from past experiences that there's a "point of no return" for patches, and was hoping that I wasn't going to walk out of there with a huge bill for a new tire. Luckily, they were able to plug & patch the hole, for a very reasonable price, and I was back on the road in under an hour. They didn't try to upsell me on any unnecessary repairs, new tires, etc. They were friendly, honest, and fixed the problem quickly. Happy to have these guys in the neighborhood. read more
