I came in later in the day on a Saturday (about 1.5 hrs before they closed). They were able to do an emissions test and change my oil and were done in 40 minutes. I was surprised they were able to get it done that late in the day. I got full synthetic and it was cheaper than most quick lube places. My truck needed an oil change so I returned to my go-to place. I went in first thing in the morning and they were able to knock it out in about 45 minutes. They were thorough, clean, and courteous. They don't take appointments for inspections but I called to ask estimated wait time and they got me in earlier than the time given. Everyone following guidelines and chairs outside to sit on. It was seized on and had to be drilled/hammered out so it proved to be harder than originally thought, but he stuck to his original quote for me. My car was experiencing a bad wheel vibration in the front end. Brought it in and told them there was a wicked front end vibration. They called the next day to tell me that their "Master Technician" had diagnosed the problem as a bad power steering pump. Doubtful. But, it is an older car, so I gave them the benefit of doubt. After getting the car back, the problem was still the same. Not a power steering pump. While driving home from work, the vibration suddenly got real bad. I pulled off and discovered that the vibration was wheel wobble from loose lug nuts. One of the wheel studs had sheared off and only two lug nuts were keeping the wheel from coming off completely. If I had been driving at highway speeds, I would probably be dead if the wheel came off. This shop did poor diagnostic if they missed loose lug nuts and replaced the power steering pump instead. They didn't even test drive the car or they would have felt the wheel wobble and maybe repaired the problem I brought it in for. So, they misdiagnosed the issue, didn't test the repair, and returned a dangerous vehicle to the customer. I was able to replace the missing lug nuts and the vibration (of course) ceased. I brought the car back to the shop to have them replace the sheared off wheel stud. Every conversation with the shop was deflection and trying to avoid taking responsibility. They were more concerned that the power steering pump did actually need to be replaced over the fact that their negligence in diagnosing and repairing my vehicle could have resulted in an accident and possibly my death. It seems like their liability to the customer should be a concern. And on top of that I waited hours for them to get to my car. Customer service and making their error right for the customer didn't even occur. Why didn't they try to make it right? Or offer apologies? Or make fixing the damage a priority? Probably because they're more concerned with the bill than retaining a customer that was furious at their negligent repairs. I won't be back. And as a potential customer, I would advise anyone reading this to decide if your safety is worth trusting this shop? read more

I took my in car in to do an AC job, my car was not blowing enough cold air, at first they ask almost $200 to add freon and I agreed with it but as they did not find the problem they assume in start changing random parts off and I did not agree because they not even know what the problem was, but my cars problem was an easy fix if they weren't so lazy to do a full inspect in my AC system it would not cost me $200, so my cabin air filter had a smell square that was blocking the air going through to the driver as in the picture, it took me 30 minutes to change it out and have a blasting AC working properly. So think twice before taking your car to this place. read more

They tightened the drain plug and recommended I take it back to Jiffy Lube to show them the issue. No charge. I appreciated the swift response and obviously no charge for service. Hood was damaged during an oil change and inspection. I called over 10 times to get the shop to review the footage and after 35 days was told the cameras reset after 14. I was then told to submit an estimate to the corporate office and after two more weeks was finally contacted. All he kept saying was there is no way we could have done that and I replied with I just wanted to see the footage. He complained about having to spend money for a while and called me a liar and said there are plenty of people that try and get away with this and the camera proves them wrong. I again said all I wanted to see was the camera. The guy working at the shop knew the location of the scratch and dent without me ever telling him. The corporate guy challenged me to come to his shop and show him how the scratch and dent could have been put on there. This is the third time I've had an issue with this shop. The two times before were due to the oil cap being put on too tight. They had to break it off and replace it both times. Terrible customer service. He had no reason to get upset if he knew his shop didn't do it. He immediately accused me and just kept saying prove it. read more

Austin Automotive Specialists on West Parmer is compliant with CDC guidelines, which seems to be uncommon around here. They set up chairs for waiting outside, everyone inside was wearing a mask properly, and going contactless is possible by dropping off your car and doing paperwork over the phone. I've never recommended an auto shop before in my life, but I like these guys. Both times I've been here the prices were good, they didn't try to oversell me on anything, and unlike most other shops and dealerships, I never felt like I was being lied to or taken advantage of. I've been coming to Austin's automotive specialists for a couple years now and I refuse to go anywhere else! They take the best care of me and have the best customer service. They are always so genuinely kind, no matter how busy. I've gotten my oil changed in just 30 minutes some days. I would not mind waiting hours if that's what it took for a place this great. I drove my car to the shop had them check it out. That morning I cranked my car the battery was low because it took some time to start. However, when I picked it up from the shop my car cranked with a jump then cut off several times and it was running really rough. I told the person at the desk, he told me the battery had totally vaporized or something like that and that was causing it to run that way. My car was not running like that when I took it in. I have had two experiences with Austin's automotive specialist. On July 7 I took my car in because my AC was only blowing hot air. They let me know that there was a problem with the coolant system and that it needed to be replaced/fixed, that was $404. Shortly after I got my car back the AC started to blow hot air again, but luckily this time the car was overheating. I took it back in and they found a new leak in my AC, bad luck. sorry I don't know the mechanical terms please bare with me. Now the first estimate they gave me was over $600. Please keep in mind that this was only a few weeks after I paid over $400 with the hope that my AC will stop blowing hot air. I quickly explained to the manager that I have multiple sclerosis so driving in the summer with hot air blowing exacerbates my multiple sclerosis symptoms causing fatigue, numbness, tingling, and balance and a lot of other things including achy muscles and just not fun stuff. I also Explained to him my financial situation because of COVID-19 I had lost my job and my fiancé is now only working part time hours because of the pandemic. I had just paid over $400 for them to ask for me to pay over another $600+ equalling over $1000 was just something that I couldn't do. he really listened to you my situation and worked with me. I've never been to a mechanic shop where they are so willing to work with you on pricing and really do their best to get you your car back as soon as possible. He dropped the estimate nearly 50% I was astounded and so grateful all i could do is cry. The manager is absolutely great and the fact that he was willing to work with us so much meant the absolute world. read more

I had an oil change on 4/16/21. I made an appointment which was for 2 and I arrived right at that time. My car was pulled into the bay as soon as. I got there, but my car sat for 45 mins. Again, I had an appointment so this was disappointing. When my car was finally lifted at 2:45, it was only up for 15 and I was leaving a few minutes after 3. The work was obviously quick, but the wait was annoying. Feel I should've been prioritized with my appointment. Overall, I'd definitely go back. Maybe they were short staffed this day. read more

Took my car in for a pre-check before taking it on the road to Houston. Got a road-trip ready, good to go report according to Austin automotive. Took off for Houston, didn't make it 50 miles before the check engine light came on. By the time I made it to Houston (in pouring rain as well) the battery indicator light, the check engine light, and the emergency brake indicator light, were all on.
