    Broken Break Pad

*Long Post Alert* After purchasing my 2017 Hyundai Sonata Sport, I was advised to take it to this particular Firestone location, on Savannah Hwy. I've since then taken my vehicle there 4x total, twice for service. The other 2 times that I took my vehicle I wasn't able to have it serviced due to being short of technicians or the technician being off until a weekday. I was patient but became fed up with this location after they continuously went around my initial service request (wheel balance & wheel alignment). I figured this was the issue because my complaint was about the shaking of my steering wheel, floor base & seat! After having a Complete Auto Inspection at the 1st visit (4/26/2025), it was determined my wheel/hub bearing needed replacing, so it was replaced. I left thinking okay, maybe the wheel alignment & balance wasn't the issue. (It was never told to or confirmed w/ me, if it was or wasn't) So yes I'm thinking I'm good to go. Nope! The same issues occurred leaving me to take the car back with the same complaint on the MORNING of 4/29/2025. At this visit, another Complete Vehicle Inspection was performed & it was test driven, I was told it's the brake pads & rotors, but they didn't feel any vibrations/shaking. The parts needed to be ordered. Ok, cool let's get the order in, claim submitted to the warranty & fix it. Claim submitted, car was left over night (waiting on the parts) and picked up the following EVENING because the estimated time given (9:30am - 10am) didn't work out. Paid for the complete vehicle inspection, warranty covered everything else. I left with my car hoping this time the issue was fixed. Nope! We are now in May of 2025. I took my car back by to let them know the car is now squealing when I hit the breaks, louder than a school bus (which it wasn't doing before) & that the vibration is still there. Literally felt like a massage chair at the nail salon. That is when I was told they will take a look into it however I couldn't be seen for service that day because they were short staffed on technicians & busy. I took it back the next day, a Saturday & was told the technician wouldn't be in until Monday. At this point I'm irritated. After leaving there was a factory issue with the engine that needed serviced. That took a couple weeks. Got the car back, picked up where I left off with Firestone, I asked one of the technicians if he could at least come outside to look at & listen to the car. He did & said he didn't hear any of the squealing from the brakes. I asked him to verify what exactly was done when they last had my car, he told me that the rotors were replaced. Not the brake pads. I was completely confused because I was told they were replaced, with the rotors, I mean are they not suppose to be replaced with the rotors?? Apparently the warranty didn't cover the brake pads, only the rotors, but why wasn't I notified? I would've covered that on my end. I was offered a free brake inspection if I brought it back. THAT is when I left & decided to make an appointment with the Old Trolley Road location. Guess what! Another vehicle inspection only this time it was a Complete Vehicle Inspection PLUS. It was determined that my brake pads were cracked & rubbing against the new rotors. Ruining them & causing the squeaking sounds & vibrations due to uneven surfaces. Why would they place cracked brake pads on with new rotors? Anywho, new brake pads & rotors (Front & Rear) were needed and replaced. So there you have it. My 1 star review, what would you rate the services?

The Firestone on Folly has always been super busy and can never fit me in, so I started coming to the Savannah store.

When I arrived I was surprised it was no charge. I really wanted to tip the gentlemen that worked hard to get my car up to par in a safe and swift speed and learned they distribute the tips amongst the workers for that day. It's not expected but it is appreciated. The rose brightened up my day as well. Thank you to the folks at Gerald's - I'll always recommend you to friends and family. Sidenote - park along the grassy areas back around the neighborhood or if in the parking lot, look for the green pole posts. If not, car may get towed while waiting to be serviced. The parking lot in the back is mostly reserved for the shopping area patrons.

And they recommended a place that specializes in finding issues that no one else can. I did't end up going, because just like everywhere else they said it would be like $200 just to look at it. Pass. It ended up getting fixed so I'm good on that. But this review is about my current service for brakes and tires. I have an olllllddddd car so this won't be the same for everyone but I got out of there with new back brakes, rotors, etc. plus 4 new tires for under $900!! Dude - I have NEVER paid this amount ever for brakes and tires. I almost cried. They also told me that my shocks, that another dealer said I needed to get done, were absolutely FINE! That other place was gonna charge me like almost $3k!!! Anywho, dropped off the car at 7:30am and they were done shortly after 1pm. With the amount of work already lined up - I was shocked. I thought for sure it would be done the next day. Lastly, I got there at like 7:10am to wait and there was already a line but their procedures for this (which apparently they're used to) were so organized snd efficient and got everyone checked in and out the door in less than like 15 minutes. I've never seen that. They also clapped for us as we entered. That really caught me off guard, but I thought it was kinda cool and cute. Who does like an applause?? lol I am blown away right now. I'm officially a lifetime customer. Wish I'd have been going to them from the start!

At a Mini mechanic claiming the same issue!RIP OFF! Went to my local mechanic and he said they were not being honest! since the owner wants to attack me, I was at this shop once before and it was a positive interaction however they said they cleared all my check, engine, lights and warning lights! Once I drove around for a few days, those lights all came back on and I purchased a scanner to figure out what was going on. Turns out that they could've easily figured out that all I needed was a Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid . So after two visits to the shop, not only did they not diagnose it, but it causes me to fail my inspection so then I had to purchase a reader and then fixed it myself! and they said that my warning lights for my headlights and my tail lights were short! So I bought headlights myself and put them in and the tail light was an easy fix, but they couldn't figure this out either! This shop is a farce. Don't trust them whatsoever the owners arguing with me over their failure to actually do a good job for their customers! This car runs great and I take care of it and have every maintenance done that I can as it's driven all across the country for over 107,000 miles so for you to question my upkeep of it is offensive!!!
