I'm an owner of Firestone tires with the "lifetime warranty". I was having low tire pressure readings for one of my tires. I wanted to ensure nothing goes wrong while driving. I called to schedule an appointment because they are rarely available for walk-ins. They indicated I can stop in anytime. I did that. Took a half day because I know their service is extremely slow. Upon arrival, the service agent took forever to welcome me. I told him my scenario, he indicates they are booked until the next week. I told him I spoke to someone that morning. He was insistently dismissive saying there's nothing he can do. I asked is there another location, he replied, you can look them up and call, we wouldn't know what their appointment schedule looks like. I asked how do we use the warranty and service we paid additional for if you're never available. My tires are your brand and I have an emergency. The attendants were so unresponsive is what seriously disappointing. I called the national customer service number, she started by saying "Iiiiiiiimmmmmm listening" sheesh! This company needs a re-branding of service, especially this location. read more

Firestone is a brand that I usually trust as for car care and with my recent experience with Omar (my car care technician) at this location. I had a deteriorated car battery and brought it over to Omar to see if they can test it to validate my suspicions. I pulled up to their lot and walked up to Omar to see if they had my battery in stock, which they did. Omar also told me that if I took the battery out myself I would save $60 and bring the battery in to test. I proceeded to remove the battery and to my surprise, Omar came out to my car with the battery tester and took the time to explain to me the tests that the tester will perform. Not more than 5 minutes, the tester showed that my car battery was defective. Omar too the battery and instead of charging me a new battery, he pro-rated my existing and discounted the new battery. What I liked about Firestone: They close at 10pm CDT, Best customer service (in the city). What I disliked about Firestone (this location) was the parking lot was limited. Overall I would recommend this Firestone to anyone who wants the best care for their car and a good friendly service experience. read more

I took my car in for a flat tire and they said the tire was damaged and couldnt be repaired. It was a 6 month old tire with a 50,0000 warranty with 2,0000 miles on the tire and they charged be $369.00 for a new tire. They of course didnt keep the old tire so I could get the manufactors warranty on it. Very shady and unethical business going on here. if you have to use them be careful. I absolutely dread going to the auto shop to take care of my car. I don't understand anything that anyone tells me when I'm there and always feel like I'm getting ripped off. Luckily, the staff at Firestone are patient and thoroughly explain what needs to be done when I have questions. Therefore, they have received my business for the past 3 years. Let's get this straight from the start. This is not a place that you can drop off your car and expect it to be done within the hour. If you live in the South Loop, you can schedule an appointment, drop off your car for repair and then return to pick up your car. This is the luxury of living close to this auto shop. You don't need to wait for your car. If you're car is finished earlier than you expected, you don't need to rush back to get your car because there's a parking lot for your car. On the other side, you can wait hours for your car to be fixed because this location is so popular. I've always had my car fixed by closing time and ready for work the next day. I highly recommend making an appointment early especially if you want to bring your car on the weekends. Their small parking lot gets full very early. After a bad experience at Jiffy Lube, I always get my oil changed at Firestone. A bonus is that they always do an inspection on your car. They have replaced my tires when my threads ran low, my brake pads were running thin, my battery was about to die and my headlights were out Not only do they price match, they have a bunch of coupons online that you can use on your services. Yes, I have used 4 coupons at one time and the staff went through each of my coupons with me so that I would get the best deal. They've helped me survive driving through Chicago winter. I know that I can always rely on their services. If you can accept the wait time and live close by, come by Firestone for your car! read more

I would give zero stars if possible. I made an appointment days before, and it still took 4.5 hours to get an oil change and alignment check done. What was the point of the appointment? Pro: -bathroom was clean -worker was kind when I confronted him about the lack of communication, but no improvements/changes were made Con: -Waiting room wasn't COVID safe. Chairs were socially distanced, but arranged to face one another -Workers were not wearing masks in back room -There were too many people in the waiting room -Work that should have taken 1.5 hours max took 4.5 hours -Worker did not communicate it would take that long. He only said it should take "a couple" hours -They used and charged for the expensive oil without telling or asking me. (Btw, I've always used "regular" oil with no problem) I understand if there are back ups and they run behind schedule. If they communicated this, I could've taken an Uber home instead of walking 4.5 hours from store to store in snow! I get it if I had a car that requires expensive oil, or if they think my old vehicle for some reason needed an expensive oil. I would have considered it if it was for a good reason. The problem at this Firestone is that the workers did not communicate any of this. I will never come back to this location again. Firestone in Rockford was very honest and clearly communicated options and costs for the work. Unfortunately, I still need to find a transparent and honest mechanic in Chicago. read more

Always professional and I literally only waited for my car 1 hr 20 min for oil change maybe ? was in and out and that's including with the tire rotation. Everybody was very nice and like I said I have bought all my tires There had had my car worked on there before with rotation of my tires never had a problem with them always good work keep it up guys! I had a flat tire and I brought it to Firestone to get it checked out. I got there a little before the store opened. Miguel greeted me warmly and said it would take between 1 hr- 1.5 hr as he still had cars from the previous day. I waited in the store and got my car back within the hour! Great service. read more

I have used this location for 10+ years and have continuously been disappointed in its responsiveness, decline in service standards and lack of attention to detail. However, for most of those 10+ years, the location had a monopoly on simple repair services in the South Loop. However, competition has grown in the area and its time to make a chance. This changes is based on my most recent experience- finding the appointment times quoted and return of my car to be an extreme miss, for a simple emissions part, which took 15min. once they finally got to my car. Even leaving it from 4pm (close at 8pm) and schedule to pick up 24 hours later - the car was still in the lot. When I complained, the response was sorry we didn't get to it, can you wait an hour? Seriously, ridiculous and unexpectable. Time to move down the street to Goodyear @ 18th and Wabash, two block south. read more

Went to them as they were nearby and an endorsed tire installer for SimpleTires. Eduardo took FANTASTIC care of my vehicle. From putting on plastic on the steering wheel, to plastic on the drivers seat to not just dropping the rims on the ground - gingerly lowering them slowly to the ground - to wrapping all 4 of my rims lovingly(!) with firestone-provided tire bags! to lowering them in to the back trunk of my corvette. He also didn't just zip the lug nuts tight with the air gun finished off the lug nuts with a torque wrench to spec! Explained a lot of what he was doing when I asked him - i like to watch! I had a wheel locking lug nut on the tire, they were able to get it off since I didn't have the custom nut from the previous owner! I would go back to Eduardo my Technician 10/10 times he was great thank you! The service manager - sorry didn't get his name - also hooked me up giving me a nice discount on the wheel nut custom procedure that was fantastic! These guys were really great. "Courtesy checks we perform do no include safety checks, only fluid level checks." - Joe the Manager This statement alone is scary considering the part they needed to check can easily be seen hanging 6 inches from the floor underneath the car. I'm no expert, but even I could tell that any car should not have a plastic hunk dangling from the bottom. It should be a red flag as soon as the car is lifted. It's THAT obvious. This is not my first (but certainly my last) time going here. Aside from an oil change, I specifically asked the 1) tech at check in, 2) another tech when I went to pick the car up, and 3) the tech servicing it to check on the OBVIOUSLY broken plastic chunk. The tech servicing it finally checked after I asked him directly, but since he had already lowered the car (it was closing time), he asked me to get down on the floor (I have a bad shoulder) to show him. I did, reluctantly. Right away he said he knew what was broken, would check it in the system and would send me an email with the recommendations with my receipt. I got billed for the oil change, but no email and NO NOTES WERE IN THE SYSTEM for the part, and again, this was something I specifically asked them to check 3 times and that is quite visible. Seems like they just wanted me out the door. I called to follow up. They asked ME what part I needed. I didn't realize I was supposed to be the tech. They said no notes were in the system, that they would try to find what happened, and if I wanted to bring the car back in. Really? For the "stellar" service? For the expertise? Call me crazy, but I can't trust people who don't really take the time to finish what should be a simple analysis, especially when it's in their face, and they've been asked numerous times to check one item, specifically. They will not get my business anymore. Their service has been going downhill, and now I know that no here one checks the brakes. If you want a tire rotation, they'll do it, but you better check the lug nuts before you leave. Safety sold separately. read more

I took my car in for a simple oil change. They did their little "inspection" and told me I needed new brakes. You can only imagine the surprise on the guy's face when I told him I changed the brake pads myself and bled the lines the week prior. The "oh we confused you with another customer" was awesome. I was an aircraft mechanic. I only took my car in for oil because I don't have a place to dispose the old oil. It's always fun to catch a shady business in the act. read more

I ask what the point of an appointment was and the kid behind the desk told me it was like the doctors office and I just have to wait my turn. Went in for new tires and was told it would be about 3 hours. I came back 4 hours later and it was still where I parked it in the lot. They told me they only had three of the tires I wanted and were waiting for their afternoon delivery truck. It would have been nice if they had called. So I bring it in the next morning and I'm told it would only be about 2 hours and they would call me when it was ready. Again 4 hours later I call them to check on the status and they say it will be ready in another hour. Don't waste your time here, and it will be wasted. Ordered one tire and had an appt for 3 pm. and just needed it to be replaced and was told it would be ready at 5 and didn't walk out until 7 pm. I am writing this review on behalf of my boyfriend. He first took his Toyota Camry a week before Thanksgiving to get a run-over before going out of town and to check on vibrations felt on the steering wheel. This store told him that he had to pay OVER a $1,000 to have front tire rods replaced (bear in mind that $800 was just on the labor). They claimed that it was the cause of the problem. My boyfriend declined the service as the total estimated bill was already too high for his budget. Today, he brought his car to Goodyear to get a second opinion. After checking the car thoroughly, they told my boyfriend that the tire rods were FINE and that all that needed to be done was an all-wheel alignment and wheel balancing to eliminate the vibrations felt on the steering wheel. Lo an behold, the vibrations have disappeared, even after testing it on I55 upon completion of the work. In a nutshell, the South Loop Firestone is NOT being honest with you. GET A SECOND OPINION as you will save HUNDREDS of dollars. The work today only costed $154 vs. $1,000+ for what Firestone originally quoted my boyfriend. Needless to say, we will not be going back there. :-( BUYER BEWARE !! read more

We went in for an estimate on new pads and came back with $1200 list of things to do include: Transmission fluid flush (The car is manual!), brake fluid flush, oil pan replacement, and of course, new rotors as well. Turns out there was an oil leak, but they were wrong in where it was. The rotors were perfectly fine. The brake fluid flush was based on absolutely no reason, and, naturally, a manual car does not have automatic transmission fluid. Do not trust these guys. read more

A few days days later, the light for the low tire pressure light came on again. I bought the car to the shop and explained the situation to the sales man. He went to the car to take a look at the tires. Should have known something was wrong, when he said he didn't see anything wrong the tire that was patched; but saw something on the opposite side. He offred a comp check on the tire 'patched' and to check my other tires. Turned out another tire needed to be patched. The original tire that was 'patched' had no issues and wasn't patched at all. So what did I pay for the first time? Air to be placed in my tires? $30 worth of air! Either they are blind or I was ripped off. I do not trust this place.My business is going elsewhere. Don't waste your time or money. I dropped my car off at 1pm to get a tire patched. I could easily see a nail and asked them to take a look at another tire that needed frequent refilling. $30/tire wasn't a bad estimate...in Chicago at least. They called me at 6pm to tell me my tires were all too bald to even be patched. I had to buy 4 new tires. Huh. Seemed odd since I just had my 25,000 mile service at the Honda dealership and they didn't say a thing. So I picked up my car and just took it to Honda City where they patched the tire without trying to up-sale or feed me ridiculousness about my tires being too bald. I don't trust these guys, at all. Don't take your car here for anything but tires! The auto service is a complete and total ripoff. This Firestone quoted me $633 *for an alternator and drive belt replacement!* (I know, I gasped too). With that quote seeming ridiculously high to me, I called around and got other quotes in the area - this is a $380 job. So let's do the math: Firestone's cost ($633) - actual cost to do the job ($380) = Firestone charging $253 extra. If you're a percentages person, that's a whopping 66% more than the competition. No, in case you're wondering, Firestone doesn't sprinkle fairy dust on your car, or add special chrome-plating to your door handles, or give your tires a spa pedicure while they're waiting. They simply rip you off in the name of being Firestone Complete Auto Care. Firestone's response to my challenging their ridiculous quote?: "We realize we're normally priced higher than other shops in the area because of our nation-wide warranty." (In case you're wondering, they only price match their tires. Not regular auto repairs). Seriously, 66% higher? I'm accustomed to paying an extra 20 bucks for warranties. But $250 EXTRA? I'll pay that much to tow my car back to my old mechanic just out of principle. The moral of the story: Steer clear. Literally! read more

I know a lot of people s*&@ all over this place but honestly, considering the location and everything, it's a pretty solid place for oil changes and other minor car repairs. While I am sure they can do major work as well, I typically stick to specialty shops for that stuff as they have more expierence with your specific type of car. Check their website for coupons as they are always running different specials every month. The best deal hands down is the synthetic blend oil change for $24 out the door for 5qt's or less including filter. That and they stay open real late and open very early in the morning. My one knock against them was it took about an hour for the oil change even though they brought it around almost immediately after being seen and checked in. Maybe it was because they had to let the car cool first before draining the oil? Who knows... And the recomendation sheet they give after the courtesey inspection is a nice heads up of things to look out for. Plus they check your battery for you and give you a receipt print out of it which is nice. read more

The only word I can describe the service of this firestone is terrible!!!!!! I bring my car to do a completed inspection and give my key to them. The guy who serviced me dropped my key on the floor mindless and I didn't notice so much. After they finished the check and gave the key back to me, I found that the red warning button on my key is missing. I asked the manager about this, but the manager even didn't see my key and told me he didn't know and can do nothing about my key. What's more, when I ask for my detailed check report, the manager try to find it in the dustbin!!!! In the end he said he can't find it and just wrote some data on my receipt. As a reminder, if you choose this firestone, remember to take a picture of your key when you give it to them. I will never go back to this palce anymore. read more

I made an online appointment for my car (2015 Mazda Cx5) to have Firestone perform a simple oil change. I had notes online that the car would be dropped off and taken at the end of the day after work. At 8:30am, the car was received for the appointment and paperwork signed confirming the service to be done on the vehicle. At 5:30pm I arrived at the store and mentioned I am here to pickup my car. After a few minutes, the service guy comes to tell me that NOTHING had happened to my car. A full 9 HOURS later, a simple oil change had not been done to my vehicle. And this is with an appointment scheduled for the work. No calls during the day to even say that something is wrong at the shop for this simple service not to happen. I was left with nothing and the simple explanation that only One (1) tech was on duty. So I asked, now what am I suppose to do. He simply looks at me without a response, so I requested for a manager. My luck, the manager was no where to be found and I asked for a number to call him. I will be doing so tomorrow. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, to think that in 9hrs, a shop could not honor someone's pre-scheduled appointment to handle an oil change for a vehicle. Simply appalling. read more

Brought my car here because I was hearing a squeaky noise while braking/turning. They told me I needed new rotors (~$800) even though I had just gotten them one year ago at the Firestone in Palatine. Got my car back and the squeaking was gone. Few days later, heard more squeaking. Took it back again to find out that they had put "BAD PARTS" on my car a week ago. They didn't want to tell me that but I kept asking for more information. Additionally, they do not call when they say they will. Even though my appointment was at 11am, I had to call them at 6pm asking for an update. I was told they'd call me in the morning and never heard from them. read more

Bought tires via TireRack.com and shipped them to one of their recommended installers. Scheduled an appointment for mounting and balancing at 7am on Friday, and they had me out the door by 8am while I waited in their lobby. Sales associates and techs were friendly and helpful. They explained everything on the invoice, which includes suggested services, like replacing wiper blades and cabin air filters. These are all overpriced services than anybody can learn to do after watching a YouTube video, and every shop will try to sell you quick repairs like this while you're there. I appreciate that they weren't pushy about it though. I feel confident writing this review because I do most of my own basic car maintenance. read more

This place is awful!!! They just try to scam you. I called to get my tire fixed because it had a nail in it. They said no problem, just drop it off and we will give you a call when it is ready. Never got a call... five hours later I call to see if it's ready and they come back and say the nail can't be taken out it's too close to the rim (it's actually not. I have a picture of it in my iPhone). I said ok how much will it be to get a new one? The guy was like the ONLY tires I have in stock are $199.99. I said ok no thanks I will take my car and go somewhere else. Then the guy says oh wait...I have a tire that is $79.... I was disgusted! They are all liars and only try to sell you stuff. I can't comment on their actual vehicle services because their system was too dysfunctional to actually allow me to get my car fixed. I scheduled an appointment online and received an email saying the shop would contact me if there was a need to change the time. I showed up a little early and asked if it was ok to drop my vehicle off early and come back. They turned me away. Said my appointment was not confirmed, only requested, and that they were too booked to accommodate anyone before Tuesday next week. Ok, disappointing, but I left. An hour later I get an email.... confirming my appointment for that evening?!?!? Will I be bothering to turn around and go back? Don't think so. read more
