Last Saturday my tire pressure light came on and my tire pressure reading kept going down. I pulled into Mavis in Sparta and asked if they could look at my tire. They pulled my car into the bay right away and about 10 minutes later they pulled it back out and said there was a small nail, it was fixed and I was good to go. I received the most remarkable attention ever tonight. I was driving from home from work and got a flat tire and I was able to replace the tire with a doughnut spare, and then drove to the MAVIS discount tire to ask them to repair the flat. They were incredibly cordial, professional and attentive. My daughter had a nail in her tire today and was in a rush to get back to her work in the military in DC. Absolutely terrible experience, I bet if half of the people who left these reviews waited a few months (like I did) they'd all be 1 star. I got 4 tires at Mavis 10k miles ago, they now have metal showing through. I was told on the phone by the assistant manager that these tires require a rotation every 40k miles to wear the treads evenly, this did not make sense as I hadn't even reached 15k yet let alone 40k. I was also told by the assistant manager that he could do nothing to rectify the situation, as his manager was not available and would be in a meeting ALL DAY. The man on the phone did not apologize. He did not seem interested in fixing the situation at all, he paused at least 10 seconds before answering me after every question I asked. Not sure if this is because the questions were annoying him or if he couldn't come up with the answers to these simple questions, either way pretty unacceptable for an "assistant manager". There is clearly a discrepancy at this location about what customer service means. The assistant manager recommended that I stop in with the car tomorrow to speak with his manager after already being told that the car is at my mechanic on the other side of the county. This man had no regard for the fact that I was 1. At work while calling him (no sense of urgency) or 2. Need my car for work tomorrow (just like he needs his). Bottom line is this- go here if you're looking to buy another set of new tires in 9 months with no responsibility taken by Mavis, no refund/discount given, by Mavis and no way for you to commute. Great experience here. Had an appointment this morning to replace all 4 tires on my jeep wrangler. Mavis was the best quote on a full set of the tires I wanted, fully mounted, by far. Arrived on time and was taken in right away. Told it would be about an hour and a half, so I waited in the waiting area instead of leaving and coming back. Was told about halfway through the service that during the routine inspection, there were a few items of concern. They took me into the garage area to physically show me what they were talking about, instead of just telling me like other places do. They outlined all the additional work that needed to be done and what they thought the urgency was on each item, gave me a quote for what each service would cost, let me know what they would be able to do today and what would have to be scheduled, then gave me the option of what I wanted to do. They let me decide whether I wanted to get any of the work done, if I wanted to do it today or schedule for a later date, or if I wanted to take it to get done somewhere else. I didn't feel pressured at all like is common with other shops. Definitely recommend. read more

Absolutely the worst! Rich the so Called manager is rude unprofessional and down right disrespectful to women. I was treated like i have no idea about tires, nor am I educated which is completely the opposite. We had a tire repair, on a tire that was clearly defective. Was told I hit something in which I did not. All while arguing with me in front of other customers. Meanwhile another woman had been sitting there waiting for her car that was getting a oil change and they lost a part while Doing so. So she was stuck waiting on a part they lost! When I pulled in the parking lot three employees were hanging around outside - not working. When I walked inside the manager was hanging out inside the garage with a smoking employee - neither one working. I made an appointment online over a week before my service. When I arrived I was told there were others ahead of me and they wouldn't be able to get to my car for at least three hours. This was surprising to me since online signups were not unlimited. Many appointments were blocked out for being full. Maybe they would have been able to get to my car earlier if they were actually working. I asked what was the point of making an appointment and I just received an attitude and a reiteration that others booked their appointments at the same time. I had a tire with a slow leak in it and drove to Mavis as that it had been purchased. The guys there got the tire out of my car for me, assessed the situation and quickly fixed the tire. I was amazed at how quickly they turned it around and was grateful that the solution was a quick fix and they didn't try to sell me on something more expensive or complicated. Additionally, I was surprised that they did this for no cost to me!!! I made an online appointment with them. Someone from the Sparta NJ location called to confirm the day and time of the appointment. I show up at the designated time only to be told it will take a while. I asked how long and was told 2 more vehicles were ahead of me and the bays were full. I asked what was the point of the appointment. They proceeded to tell me they don't book them. I said then why did someone from the location call to tell me I was all's stop to come in. I said my appointment was even marked as waiting. He said he can't do anything. Even with these times. I shouldn't be told that basically the online appointments are useless. I can bore you with all the details, but there is no time. I don't have the time to write all of it and you don't have the time to read all of it. My wife went to have her breaks done; after they inspected them they told her she only needs back breaks, because the front ones still have 35% of the break pad left. They quoted her a price. When She picked up her car, they over charged her by $80. dollars. She rectified the mistake right away, and she received a store credit, no problem, all good. Fast forward nine weeks later, she makes an appointment to get new tires. After a couple of hours they called her and said she needs front breaks. How can that be she didn't drive her car for ten weeks because of this pandemic. They told her she drove over fourteen thousand miles. Impossible! She decides to get her breaks done. Guess what! That's right, she was over charged again by two hundred dollars. So not only did she not get her store credit that they said she would get, but was also over charged by approximately two hundred dollars. Furthermore, they refused to correct the over charge. She called the district manager immediately and he told her she would receive a credit on her credit card. What they did on both over charges is they ran the card without showing her the receipt. So they ran the card and refused to adjust it correctly. In my humble opinion, I believe this was done because of her gender. This is a common practice in the automotive industry knowing that most women aren't knowledgeable about car engines. I don't want to paint with a broad brush, as not all car service places are like this, but the ones that do this bring down the rest of this industry. Get your receipt fist, read it over then and only then let them run your card after you approve the receipt. read more

Very unprofessional service. they never called me to let me know my car was ready; I left it there to check and repair a slow leak on my tire. then many hours later I call and was told oh yeah, it's ready. I go pick up car and was told that it's leaking from the valve so they didn't do anything. why on earth didn't they fix it, or call me to tell me and give me the option of getting my leak repaired? so I wasted half a day and nothing got resolved. The service was great. Came in on a Saturday morning when I was told it would be really busy, but they were super friendly and got me in and out. I had a trailer tire with a broken valve stem and came in to have the tire replaced. While they performed the work, I asked the manager if they sold tire irons because the wrench I had wasn't the best. He said no, but lent me one! And they ended up not charging me for the stem repair because it was such a small job. I was ready to buy a new tire! Will definitely come back for tires. read more

I will never return to the Sparta store. I was told an hour and 15 minutes, I figured maybe an hour and half for new tires. I purposely made an 8:00 AM appointment on Wednesday to be first in and out for Saturday. The total time spent was close to 3 hours. I am sure you can see the work order with the time stamp in and out. I watched a few employees stand around and then proceeded to work on the managers car for 3 hours plus, they still were when I left at 11:00. I know it was the managers car because when he pulled in at 7:50, it was like a bat out of hell pulling right up the garage door and complaining about his car. I later asked the service manager who the store manager was just to confirm I was right. Also, the store manager decided to yell at me and told me to buy my tires elsewhere while I was standing in the parking lot. Watching work getting done to my car is not allowed at this shop. I highly recommend this manager get some anger management classes. He should not be leading anyone at the store. He should not yell at a customer. He was rude and quite frankly I felt threatened by his tone, I truly feel sorry for any person that steps in at that store. I am concerned for anyone that might question this manager, our local community should not have to deal with this behavior. The kid working on my car had no help. There was no other car being worked on but mine and the managers car. There were at least 5 other cars in the lot that were dropped off by customers sitting there for at least an hour and half. This was absolutely disgusting, unprofessional and down right rude. I will be sure to let folks know in the community what I observed standing around and waiting for my car. read more

This place sucks and so does the staff. Don't bother making an appointment because they are never on schedule. An oil change Kevin said would take an hour just bring you car right in at 11 am. We called 3 hours later vehicle was not done, wait another 3 hours and still not done we yell the other Kevin that Kevin promised it in an hour and that was 6 hours ago, his response was we can get it in next. Needless to say we did not get our oil charge. Another time we went to get a tire plugged, again took hours longer they they said. To make up for the delay they said fill out for the Mavis credit card and there would be no charge. We will never go back. We now take all out cars to Sparta Tire. Much better service and the staff is polite and not arrogant jerks. read more

UPSELL!!!! Each time we took a car in, they would give us an outrageous quote. They told us they could not change a lightbulb on my car without removing the entire front end .. the told my son he needed a new caliper ( This had JUST been replaced) When they did look at my light, they left a cap off, leaving it open to dirt and water getting in. I took my car across the street to M&M bulb was changed within a few minutes and they even ordered me the part that this place did not put back on Seriously, an entire front end had to be removed to change a lightbulb? read more
