Went for an oil change/new oil filter at the Firestone in Galveston, TX on 61st on 2/2/22, appt. at 5PM. My 2021 Ford Ranger has 5,726 miles on it, and this was my first oil change for this truck. I told the employee that I just wanted the basic oil change, about $28.00 with my coupon that I had. The employee told me that I had to use synthetic oil in my truck because it was new and that all vehicles from 2014 to new vehicles are required to use synthetic oil only. I told the employee that I had never heard of anything like this when getting your vehicle oil changed. I did ask the cost and he said it would be $103.00 total. I told the employee that I had never paid over $100.00 for any past oil change. The $103.00 was with a $15 off coupon that I had for Firestone. This store charged me twice for labor, premium oil change labor and another charge for labor at the bottom of my invoice. They also had problems getting the oil filter off my truck, the employee told me that they had to remove my front tire to get to the oil filter. My appt. was at 5:00PM, they didn't finish my oil change until 6:30PM. This was my first and last visit to this Firestone. I'm sure there are other places in Galveston that do good and fair oil changes, unfortunately this is not one of them. Stay away! Ron W. read more

I made an appointment online, it was confirmed. I got to my scheduled appointment 10 min early to check in. The person who checked me in said it would be about an hour. Now at 1 1/2 hours my car is still in the lot!!! No updates, I had to go to the parking area and look. Still waiting at 1 1/2 hours for a low tire!!!! read more

First time customer and I will definitely be back. I went to Classic Honda for a problem with my headlights and a scraping noise coming from my rear axle. Classic Honda first charged me 135$ just to look at my car, secondly they were going to charge me 1650$ for all my breaks as well as calipers to be replaced. They refused to show me the damage and told me that I should not be driving my car at all. I reluctantly let them fix my headlight (just needed a bulb replaced) for 179$. This all took over 4 hours. I took my car to Firestone for a second opinion and they were wonderful from the start. Taking a look at my car was free, quick (less than 30 minutes), and helpful ( they showed me the damage and explained exactly what needed to be done). Some of the parts needed might have had to be shipped from Houston, but the manager did everything in his power to get the repairs done that day and before they closed. I was expecting that I would not have a car for at least several days and that the cost would be somewhat comparable to what Classic Honda quoted me for the cost of the repairs. However, I was pleasantly surprised to not only get my repairs done the same day ( the store stayed open late to get the job done), but also to save more than 1000$ on costly, unnecessary repairs. Bottom line, Firestone offered quick, honest, reliable service at a fair price. They gained a committed costumer today. On the other hand, I will never go to Classic Honda again. I don't know how they got the name "Classic"...Classic Crooks is more like it. read more

Long story - short (I hope). Had to go to Galveston in a rental car due to a hit and run just prior to departing. Rental car was a nightmare and involved being given a vehicle with a low pressure leak in the drivers side (flat) rear tire and a check engine light that went on just as I arrived in Galveston. Enterprise had no replacement vehicles and told me that I would have to take the vehicle to Firestone, NTB or Pep Boys to have the tire repaired. I had the tire repaired in Killeen (took 5 hours when I was told it would only take 1.5) BUT when the check engine light went on I decided to see how Galveston Firestone compared. They were amazing. I called ahead and Alan Flores assured me that they could do a full search of the code and determine if the vehicle was driveable to get me home to Killeen Allen was true to his word. Within 15 minutes of arrival he had the car in the bay, up on the lift and in a total of 30 minutes did a diagnostic and review of the vehicle and assured me that it was an O2 sensor code and that while it might reduce my fuel economy, I could travel the 247 miles home without concern. What a total difference in service and attitude. Cannot thank Alan enough for putting my concerns to rest and helping me get home. He is a true representative of customer service. read more

I'm asking questions because I don't know anything about cars so why are they so condescending like it's common sense? Today I came to pay my bill as they (Firestone) offer decent deals when using their credit. I HATE being handicapped and only make use of the "privilege " when I absolutely have to. Today is one of those days. All 3 handicapped parking spots close to the door were occupied by vehicles that did not have placards or plates. Turns out they were vehicles left for service and rather than the staff moving them to accommodate those of us who need the spots, they were left there. Extremely disappointed. When I pointed it out, after watching a gentleman with a cane walk to his vehicle about as far from the door as possible, one vehicle was moved. Disappointed. read more

I went in with a working car, ended up with a totaled car. I took my car in for an oil change, they called and let me know I also needed new spark plugs and a new battery so I gave the go ahead for that. Two days later my car started to overheat. I pulled over and called firestone. I talked to the manager Chris and told him there was no oil in my car, he bullied me into thinking I don't know what high mileage oil that has just been changed looks like and told me to take it to the nearest firestone (I was in Houston). So I let my car cool off for about an hour and headed to the nearest firestone, on my way the engine blew up. I had it towed to the nearest firestone. That firestone called and let me know the Galveston firestone forgot to put the oil cap and the oil filter back on and that they were having my car towed to Galveston to remedy this situation (I have this in writing). Chris at Galveston firestone assured me he would reimburse me for the $300 of work, get me a rental and fix my engine. I went by to check that my car made it to Galveston only to notice new body damage (I had some minor previous damage) on the front bumper. At this point they had had my car about a week and had still not looked at it. I brought up the body damage to Chris and that is when he became irritate. I just wanted to get to the bottom of the body damage (my insurance came out it is $500 worth of damage) It has been one lie after another "your car will be fixed today" when I asked about the rental but they had not even looked at. "We are waiting on a part" had not even looked at it. "We saw video footage that your car was damaged when you brought it in" but the restaurant next door said he never came over asking for footage. It goes on and on. Because I brought up the body damage and it made him mad he sent the issue to firestone claims. They denied my claim, stating that though there is evidence of the oil leaking out, the inspector believes it was because of running at a high temp with no coolant. So I called Galveston firestone and asked what they routinely do when they change the oil, it was specified to me that they check the coolant, so if the coolant really was the issue, why wasn't this noticed when I had my oil changed? Also it would not have been running so hot if it had oil in it. When I asked Chris about this he said they never check the coolant...it is just a web of lies, I just paid off this car and now it is totaled due to this Firestone's negligence and unprofessionalism. I have no money to fix and insurance doesn't cover 3rd party negligence or mechanical failure. I live in Galveston and work in Houston, I have been without a car for almost a month now. This has been the most horrific experience. Unless you want to loose your car, DO NOT TAKE IT TO FIRESTONE. Not only is this Galveston shop terrible, dealing with claims on the corporate level is an absolute nightmare and won't can't anywhere if you do find yourself in this situation. read more

I made the mistake of taking my car there for a second opinion about why my car was overheating. They told me I needed a new radiator installed and it would cost a couple of thousand dollars. Come to find out I was low on radiator fluid. Never again will I go there. They love scamming people and are not knowledgeable at all. read more

Very disappointed with the lack of customer consideration and service. I made an appointment for a simple oil change and tire rotation the day before and arrived twenty minutes early to drop off my car. I asked if my car might possibly be ready in about an hour and was told it would be closer to two hours because they were short handed. I left and returned an hour and forty minutes later to find my car in the same spot. I went and inquired and was told they had not started yet but I was next. There were at least 4-5 employees and one car on a lift. Ridiculous! They could not even call and let me know they were running WAY behind. I took my keys and left. Very inconsiderate!! read more

BE CAUTIOUS about the approximate time they tell you and make sure they verify the part is actually in stock. Otherwise, you will be sitting in the waiting area with your previously operational vehicle taken apart while they waste your time tracking down the part at a different location. Their mistake has been very costly! Price: fair price and quality. I asked them to check for available coupons and they found two that applied to the alignment and service charges. read more

This is my second time giving my business to this location and today it was just a vehicle inspection. They don't take appointments for vehicle inspection which is understandable. I called first and they said it would be a 45 minute wait/finish inspection time. There were no people in the waiting room when I arrived, but there were cars in bays. I gave my keys and walked to get something to eat at the restaurant next door, in order to best utilize my time. Before I left the store, a couple of people came in, also for an inspection. I was gone for lunch right next door about 45 minutes to an hour and my car was still in the lot and had not been moved or worked on when I returned to Firestone. The people that had come in to the store after me were also still in the lot. The folks waiting said to me that they realized I had already been at Firestone before their arrival and they were not happy with the wait either! The service person took them first. When my vehicle was finally done at least an hour and a half after my arrival, I went to pay my bill and mentioned that they should have taken me first, before the other folks that arrived after me and that were able to leave the store 20 minutes prior to me. The service person then proceeded to argue with me saying that I left the waiting area and therefore it is fine for them to push me back. What happened to first come, first served and NOT arguing with the customer? Bad customer service!!!! P.S. The other time I gave my business to this Firestone all the folks in the waiting room were unhappy with their lack of customer service and time management! read more

They got my fiancé and I in without an appointment at the very end of the day.. then stayed an hour past closing to finish so we'd have our car in the morning. They didn't charge a "diagnostic fee" and our bill was 1k less then a local competitor!!! These guys rock!! read more

We took my Chevy Equinox to Firestone in July 2019 because my engine overheated on vacation. We told them to fix everything that was causing the issue so it'd be a complete fix. We are a law enforcement family and need our car to be working while my husband is gone on his 12 hour shifts. They replaced the radiator, hoses, and the thermostat. The thermostat that they installed was broken and continued to cause issues for our car. In addition, they did not replace the water pump that was also broken. Those two things combined caused our engine to continuously overheat and cause other issues in our car. When we reached out to let them know that they did not do their job correctly, they refused to take responsibility or to do anything to remedy the situation. The corporate office was less than helpful as well. We have been trying to work out a solution with them for months and have gotten no where. I will never trust my car to Firestone again. Take your business anywhere else. read more

Do not use this Firestone location. I had freon put in my car. The mechanic broke the interior front door handle on my car and did not repair it. The entire a/c system is not working correctly.. I have returned several times for Galveston Firestone to repair my car and a/c. Clint the manager does not know what he is doing and is a poor manager. No follow up return calls. I am traveling on business in the Texas heat w/ no a/c and a broken door handle.. I have attempted to contact the corporate office as well. What a disappointment. Update: I picked up my car from the same Firestone today, and it turns our they had installed the wrong type of brake pads. They fixed their mistake free of charge, and my brakes are no longer squealing. read more

STAY AWAY! Took one of our work trucks in because it had a miss in the engine. They told us it needed a coil pack, new spark plugs, spark plug wires and a fuel injection cleaning for about $1,100. They said the coil pack was not firing the number three cylinder and that all the plugs and wires should be changed. The truck has 70,000 miles on it and is 4.5 years old. I said to replace the coil pack and the one spark plug, since the plugs are rated for 100,000 miles. They said they to check with the manager to see if that could be done. I said if it was that much trouble that I would just pick up the vehicle. Well, they called back and said they would not perform the work because it was not the right way to do it. I picked up the truck and paid the $110 diagnosis fee and took it to the dealer. The dealer checked it out and the coil pack was not defective and that the number three spark plug was bad. They replaced all six plugs and wires for $310. Truck runs great. I really don't appreciate Firestone making me feel like a moron for not doing it the "Firestone way". It used to be the car dealerships were the ones to rip you off, I guess times have changed. Kudos to the GM dealership and shame on Firestone . read more

I don't quite understand why this Firestone has such a low review score. I understand that people have a bad experience they are more likely to get a one star review and list their complaints, and they are free to do that. However my experience with this complete auto care center could not have been better. I hit a curb and busted my front passenger tire and damaged my rim. I drive a Hyundai accent that uses a type of tire that is very uncommon for places to have in stock. They had to order my tire and rim, but I was fine with that. Every other tire place I've ever been to has had to do that for my car. However, the reason they are in their five star is because when no one else would give me a ride home, one of the employees offered to give me a ride home off of Galveston Island instead of me having to pay for a cab. That is the kind of customer service that deserves a five star review. If that person had not done that, I would've had to pay a fairly significant amount for a cab ride back home and he didn't even take gas money for the ride. That employees name is Daniel, if you get him, he will help you with everything you need. The service was friendly, and completed within the timeframe that they said it would be completed. do not waste your money here for a diagnostic test. i initially went to autozone and received a free test however i panicked and took it to firestone hoping they would give me a definitive answer. nope, they charged me $100 and gave me the same information autozone did. their recommendation didn't even fix the problem and they didnt even check to see if the part was malfunctioning. money wasted:( read more
