Since I've been to Firestone, which has almost been three weeks, I've had two additional opinions about my "almost metal to metal" touching brakes." Both guys said that I had 20% left and had about another month before I should come back in. So I went there a few weeks ago hoping to get an alignment done to my Jeep because I had just put a 4" flex arm full suspension lift on it and it was very much out of alignment... The lady I spoke with at the front desk was super cool and was pretty impressed that I did the lift by myself (only took 4 days) but I digress..... Well about 10 minutes after they pulled it back there the nice woman I spoke with came and got me and asked me to follow her to the back where my Jeep is parked on a lift and the lift is setup high enough where we can see the front end without bending down. That's when I met, I guess, the boss or something, maybe he was the manager, but you could tell the guy didn't know what he was doing or talking about. He starts going on about not being able to do the alignment because of this right here and he proceeded to jiggle the c clamps for my front trac bar's adjustment sleeve, so they made a lot of noise like a set of keys and I was a baby. Go back to the beginning of the story real fast ; when I got there I asked the lady at the front desk to tighten my suspensions nuts and bolts bc i just put the lift on. the rear trac bar bolt has to be at 134lbs feet of torque and I was unable to do that. He also told me my steering wheel was on UPSIDE DOWN I asked him if he understood what a suspension lift was and to consider the fact I have a longer pitman arm installed and I relocated my front track bar, um, yeah your steering wheel tends to move around a bit. This guy did not know simple mechanics, or he assumed that because I was a pretty girl that I didn't know what I was doing. So Mr. asshat, if the steering wheel is askew all you have to do is adjust the drag link. Takes a 5/8ths wrench's and maybe a pipe wrench. Or maybe not. I really didn't know what to say to the guy because he should have already felt embarrassed for the crap he just said... the guy inferred that I REMOVED the steering wheel, turned it upside down and stuck it back on. Come. On. You could totally tell the guy was a overly paid corporate pencil pusher bc he had on brand new safety glasses and wasn't dirty at all. This review is not for the other Mechanics working on vehicles there. This really is just a review about their manager. If you go, just ignore that guy. Talk to the guys in the pit that know what tf they're talking about. read more

So, it's a one star trend. I called to ask what it would cost to replace a light bulb (I cant get to it, I have big hands and no tools). I was quoted $78. I went down and told them I had the right bulb, they couldnt use it as .....well they wanted to sell me one. They then looked at how long it would take (without being within 40 feet of the car): "It could take an hour, that is $100 minimum with $40 bulb" "so what if it takes like three minutes" "oh if it takes 3 minutes that'll be $100 with a $40 bulb" That continued until I lost faith in humanity. I made an appointment to get all new tires and do some scheduled maintenance on my car before reading reviews on Yelp. After reading some of the reviews, I was very skeptical. (I usually do all of my service work at the dealership directly, but opted not to this time because the expense at the dealership was just more than I thought it should be.) I'm very happy with the service I got, and I'm pleased with the end results. The price was really good! For less than the price of what Discount Tire would have charged me for 4 tires on my sports car, I got 4 new Firestone tires, a coolant system flush, and a fuel system cleaning and decarbonization. And, they were happy to let me keep two of my old tires that still had good tread. My salesperson even rolled them out to me at my car during pick-up. My engine was already running well, but I feel like it's got some more pep after the fuel system cleaning, and I was a little worried about the tires because they were so cheap compared to Pirelli at Discount Tire, but they're great! They look and feel excellent. I think I'll start coming here for my oil changes instead of the dealership. read more

I took my car here for an oil change with a coupon for free wiper blades along with oil change. The wait was kind of long, but the shop was comfortable, spacey and semi-clean. The only thing that threw me was when the front desk guy went over my recommended services he started to chuckle/snide or snicker deviously when he told me I needed and $1100 rack and pinion. I didn't find that so funny. He was trying to be funny. But yes I get the last laugh when I shop around and find someone cheaper to do the job. Hee hee Haw Haw. read more

Came in to get a tire patched as I had a nail in it. I figured I would get a oil change while I was there too. They said that it would be an hour to get done. After 1 hour they just pulled it into the bay. About 30 min later they said. It would be 10 more min. After 30 min another service rep said it should be done in about 10 min. 20 min later they let me know it was done. Their sense of time is way off as I heard another customer complaining tat they were 2 hours over her estimated time. Then 2 weeks later I take my car into another service shop due to my starter not working and they said that I need an oil change as it only has about 200 miles left on the old oil. So obviously firestone didn't even change the oil but I still got charged for that. read more

Do not go here. They have terrible service and they WILL rip you off. I scheduled an appointment for an oil change with a $19.99 coupon. The appointment was for 3pm on a weekday. First problem - it took almost two hours to get the oil change completed. Why do they even bother making appointments if they aren't go actually go by appointment times?! Next - they completely disregarded my coupon despite mentioning it earlier - and then they charge me for $65 for an oil change. One simple oil change. Two hour service. $65 dollars. I can't even explain how ridiculous this is. Tell me it costs so much because of the special make and model of my car?! I drive a common Toyota model. I am never coming here again. I have used this location for 8 yrs with great service when Yolanda and Jonathan were there. Now that they are gone service is terrible. I have had to go back several times to fix problems with breaks. The new group is the reason I don't trust most mechanics ! This location is awesome. I always get nervous using small places like this instead of a Jeep dealership or where I bought my car. When I first moved to Houston I need to service my rental car and Firestone was the approved vendor for National. I was pleasantly surprised by the service and low price. They always fit me in and get me in and out within an hour. I usually only go for oil changes and they never try to get me to make other unnecessary repairs. I hate going into places where they heckle you for more money and work that doesn't need completely. These guys do what you ask and nothing more! The weekend staff is the best! read more

This is the worst customer service that I've witness by far. My intention for going their in the first place was to do an alignment on my vehicle, but when that was all set and done the associates working there were talking about how I needed new struts. What they did not know in advance is that my father is a mechanic, so what he told me differed from what they said... In the end I got screwed because these worthless human beings you call adults here do not know how to actually work for their money without scamming a customer... so anyone out with a car and you definitely it's in good condition do not set foot in this demonic place because they will tell you otherwise. read more

I know nothing about cars, I just drive them so when my boyfriend told me I had cracked tires I just stared at him. He told me where to go and what to get and from there Firestone had my back. I got a free oil change, new tires and rotation, and an alignment for a really great price. I've been following the manager of this store since he was at the Westheimer and Tanglewilde location. 4 cars, 7 sets of tires, countless alignments, and a few major repairs later, there's a reason why I keep coming back. I have also referred several of my friends to this location. This is the ONLY Firestone I trust with my car. I've even suggested work to be done on my car and was told it was not needed. I made the mistake of coming to this place because it's so close to my office. I have been hearing for a last few years about how bad the pricings was here but I am generally skeptical about most things. Well in this case "believe the hype". This place sucks! I arrived shortly after 8:00 am and walked up to see a pair of "cashiers" standing behind their stations holding a conversation about what they were planning on having for lunch later that day.(no eye contact, no greeting, and no other paying customers besides myself. insight) 4 minutes later I was finally acknowledged by a guy comes from the back with my favorite line "I can take u right ova here". He then proceeds to tell me that he's going to charge me $157 dollars to replace my brake light (Good thing I already had the part in my car) and "I would have to pay up front!" I also had a question about a check engine light and I was told that "there would be a $100 fee to do a diagnostic". This is quite surprising to me as most places do them for free. (Even auto zone..) So I politely tell them No Thank You and I will also be pulling my corporate account this afternoon. read more

Came in for an oil change and state inspection was supposed to be done in about an hour... Took a little over an hour and one of the guys came out and said that they couldn't do the inspection bc the machine is broke! I wish they would have told me that from the start! Horrible experience... I noticed I had two flat tires walking to my car from work, so I drove to this firestone because it was the closest shop. They told me they had the tires and to wait about 1 hour for the car to be ready. Perfect. 45 minutes later they tell me they only have one of the tires I needed and already put that new one on. How on earth was i suppose to drive home with only one tire fixed??The store was already closed at this time. I told them to put my old tires back on and give me a refund. They said they would have to charge me a mounting fee for the one tire they did put on. I was flabbergasted and laughed in utter disbelief. I asked to speak with a manager. The lady went to back for a few minutes and came back saying we won't charge you. Manager didn't even come out. When I went back to my car they did a lousy job putting back my old tires..they were half way off the rim..by this time it's dark,stores closed and I had to tow my car to discount tire who the next day did a fantastic job replacing my tires.....beware of this place...they also try convincing you with b.s talk to buy things you don't need. read more

Very professional and accommodating staff at a very competitive price. I got an oil change, an alignment, and 4 new tires installed for $550. At other franchises, just the same type of tires alone cost me $650. They also replaced my burnt out break light for free! I've been reading the bad reviews of this location and all I know is that the people leaving the negative reviews have no idea how an automotive repair shop actually functions. Seriously calm down people, yes they will quote you maintenance cost for your vehicle because it is recommended but they will fix what you request. Went in yesterday to get my oil changed as I work across the street, they told me they'd have my car ready within an hour and a half. Carlos called me about an hour later letting me know it was ready. When I picked up my car I noticed an oil stain on the floor board matt, as I pulled around Carlos noticed me pulling up and asked how he could assist. I let him know the issue and that nobody had put down any protection for the matts. He was more than apologetic and even spot cleaned the matt. I was greatly appreciative of his help and service as I work in the customer service industry as well. This was definitely the best customer service I've ever received from Firestone. Had my car inspected there. I personally watched the entire inspection. Great technician. When I tried to pay, the sales guy told me all the other problems with my car including that both air filters were dirty and needed to be replaced. This was a total lie because neither air filter was checked. Had they checked, they would have discovered that I had recently replaced both filters. I refused any additional repairs. I called Firestone corporate to tell them my experience. They told me the area manager would call me. Never did. read more

Very poor management at this location. Called to ask about state inspection I was told they open at 7 and if I come early it would not take time. Showed up at 7 today was the first person there was then told that the person who does state inspection does not come in until 8, Was also told there was a separate line for state inspection and if I come around 8 and there were no other Inspections I would be done in 20 mins. Showed up again at 8 and was told the wait is 1 hour and 15 mins and there are other maintainance cars in front. Very poor communication and management at this location. This place sucks to the core! Firstly: the staff was rude Secondly: the guy at the counter was busy on a personal call and did not pay attention to my request that apart from oil change they needed to look into the warning message being shown in the car. Third: the car was not ready at the time they promised and worst was that they didn't even know which was my car and it was shocking to see that they had not even started working on my car. The guy carelessly said that I should wait and they will get to it. Fourth: I had received a $15 gift card from Firestone requesting me to come back to their facility and I intended to use it for this oil change service. But the guy denied to honor that gift card stating he has already given a small discount on the oil change through another coupon and cannot accept my gift card. When I showed him the details on the back of the card which said I can use it with any sale items he said very rudely and in a threatening manner "are you going to stand there and argue with me??" I have never been treated this way. I anyways paid the full amount and wanted to get out of there Fifth: i reminded the guy of the warning MSG which I had earlier Mentioned and he went bAck to the technician since he had forgotten to let him know Sixth: I drove off the service center and I see the warning MSG is still there so I had to return again and they tried to get rid off the MSG by resetting the system. They couldn't tell me what the warning was About.... They just reset the settings and went away; it was 7pm and looked like they were in a hurry to close down since they started pulling down the shutters even though I was still there. I mentioned in the Firestone survey about this and they took my contact information stating that the store mgr would call back. Its been over 2 weeks and haven't heard back from them. I am never ever going to use Firestone Again! read more

Made an appointment for Sunday morning to replace my battery and have an oil change. The online coupons were a good deal but then I somehow also had a nail in one of my tires. Seemed suspicious but I let them fix it. All in all it took 3 hours to complete these 3 minor things. Will not be coming back to this location. read more

WOW! Some of the older reviews here are god awful and it really surprises me because the service I received today was INCREDIBLE! Leonard, the new manager at this location, went above and beyond my expectations for customer service. I came in for an oil change and alignment (lifetime alignment owner) and about 30 minutes passed and I was on my way. He did come back and tell me about some of the issues he noticed with my older car, but he didn't try to scare me into fixing anything once I told him my father worked in auto repair and would definitely handle it, but I thanked him for giving me the info because I didn't know all that was going on! I had never been to this location before, but I was desperate for an oil change before I headed out of town and stopped in, no appointment necessary. I definitely will keep this Firestone at the top of my list from now on and will always ask for Leonard. Honest, respectful and kind are some of the best words I can use to describe Leonard and his team. Give them a try next time you need some auto repair...I think they just have had some poor management in the recent past that has made this location less than appealing! While reviews may vary in thumps up or down depending on one's experience with different shift employees on different days, I want to say my overall rating of this particular firestone store over a seven year span is a 4 star. Barely 48 hours ago I took my van to this location for the battery to be replaced since it was still under warranty and had just suffered from low voltage requiring a jump start on my way to work. Carlos (the service advisor) said it would take at least 4 hours to get work started on my van and advised that I leave it for that duration and return for pickup. He promised to give me a call when work was completed. Before leaving I asked that oil change service be performed as well. Estimated cost was given to me and I gave the go ahead. Four hours later I received a call, walked over to the store and paid for the oil change service, and received assurance from Carlos that my battery was replaced with a new one. Since I was already late for work, I jumped into my van and drove away without opening the hood to check. 48 hours later and to my puzzlement my van suffered another low voltage output, again requiring me have it jump started. When I opened the hood to connect the cables, only then did I see that the same old battery was still in place. Filled with rage I drove over to this firestone shop, demanded to speak with Store Manager Jonathan Brekken. I opened the hood of my van for him to see the old battery still in place instead of a new one and told him that I had been lied to and that deception is a bad practice for the health and continual existence of his business or any business. He agreed, apologized and courteously asked if I would let him have my keys and get to work replacing the old one with a brand new one himself. As I waited, Carlos (apparently having been spoken to by the boss) came out and offered his apologies to me, saying it was a case of miscommunication. In 20 minutes Store Manager Jonathan Brekken was back, again apologizing for what he repeated was 'miscommunication' between the service advisor (Carlos) and the mechanic in the shop, handed me my keys and thanked me for my patience. For this, Mr. Jonathan Brekken and his crew at this firestone location have earned my salute and a four star rating. read more

I brought my SUV in to this location because I could smell exhaust fumes on the inside. So I was told that they had to check out the entire car and not just the problem that I brought it in for. Yea ok, it is old so I was like whatever (and it wasn't free). So they come back with a long list of stuff that needs to be repaired. I ask will this take care of the problem I brought it in for? I was told yes. So about $2K later I have the same problem. I take it back and I was told that I would have to have it checked out all over again (for a fee). Um, no thanks. A friend of mine recommended his mechanic and turns out it was just a loose hose all along! He fixed it free of charge and the exhaust smell went AWAY! This Firestone may be good for simple things like oil changes and flushes and things like that but don't trust them with large repairs. They will most definitely rip you off if they can. read more

Just terrible. I came in for an oil change, during one of their $19.99 specials. I came in on a Friday around 3 PM, and anticipated being able to leave within 30 minutes, as I've never had an oil change take longer than 20. Instead, I waited in line while one employee stood outside, talking on his cellphone. Then, I waited TWO AND A HALF HOURS for the oil change, after having paid for the service up front. This was ridiculous. I asked when my vehicle would be ready when the service began, and they said 25 minutes. After two and a half hours, I went to the counter again, and one of the employees told me that they said brake fluid coming out, and would I like to go see it? Why didn't they come and find me in the waiting room of the shop when they discovered this? They told me that the brake line was broken, and I asked for a quote, and to make an appointment for the next day. I was quoted $196.50, for a replacement. The itemized bill they gave me had $450 of extraneous repairs that they "recommended" as well, and the employee seemed confused, and highlighted what would actually need to be done. Dubious, I went to another auto shop, Gaines Autospeed on South Main, and, after fifteen minutes, they told me that the brake line was not cracked, it was the wheel cylinder. They quoted me $95 if I wanted to replace the brake line, and only $88 for the wheel cylinder. I saved over $100 by getting a second opinion. I was severely disappointed in the customer service, integrity, wait time, and ludicrous, dishonest pricing at Firestone. I will not be returning, and have shared my experiences with others. read more

So the first time I came in, all I needed was an oil change which they did and then had me replace some belts which I did though I'm not sure it was necessary and when I asked for the old belt they said yes but then claimed they tossed it. I also had a $20 bill stolen from my change drawer, which to the managers credit, they did offer to return to me. But still, when looking for a mechanic to be a return patron of you want to feel like you can trust them and this was not a good sign. Not great...based on this experience they would've gotten one star. However on my second time in I had, Kevin who was much more direct and told me what I needed upfront. He suggested some things but didn't try and force them and overall I just like he was honest about my needed repairs. I did have to wait far longer than my expected wait time (I was told 45 minutes and spent 3 hours there), which can be annoying for some. read more

I would not recommend this place. I went to this firestone after calling and being told there was no wait for an inspection sticker. Keep in mind I live less than a minute drive from this place. When I arrived they said the wait time was 1.5 hours!! I've been to other places where I've been in and out in less than 20 minutes. I was a customer for the last 20 months and yesterday I brought my car back after the check engine light came on after they changed the oil a few days prior. They charged me $99 for diagnostic fee and their recommendations were a $300 repair. I took the codes they gave me and called another mechanic. Ifound The check engine light code was because the part they were recommending fixing, was loose from after they changed the oil. Gave them an opportunity to make it right after explaining this and they still charged me $99. I will never go back to this Firestone again and would recommend you don't either. This just shows you the lack of knowledge from their technicians and it's all about the sale of repairs. read more

A couple of months ago my transmission failed. I went to the Firestone on dacoma and they replaced it with a used transmission. Of course the used transmission ended up being faulty. When I went back to the original location I got the transmission replaced at I received the runaround. After a couple of weeks of going back-and-forth and a week of calling customer help. Finally I was able to get through to the regional manager. He was amazing and put me in contact with the store manager of this location. They determined that a used transmission should have never been put in my car. However since the damage was already done the only option was for them to rebuild it. They gave me a ride to work they reimbursed me for the charges I incurred at the Nissan dealership in order to get evidence that the transmission was faulty. They reimbursed me for a rental car. I received nothing but the highest caliber of service at this location and I'm very pleased with my experience. The transmission doesn't feel perfect but the cars running effectively. The store manager Jonathan let me know even though there's no warranty if I have any further issues to bring it back to them. Thank you so much Firestone in the galleria you guys saved my life!!! read more

My brake lights were out and I went to Firestone for them to put in new bulbs (if that indeed was the problem). They told me they checked the bulbs by putting electricity to them and they were fine - they wanted to run an electrical diagnostic test for $135 and told me 3 different problems they might unearth with that test. I declined to proceed. This morning my husband changed out the 2 bad bulbs and everything is fine. read more

Took my girls car in for two tires and alignment. Told my service writer I am a retired master tech and I know there were other issues with the vehicle which I was gonna take care of after he finished. I just don't have a tire mounting machine and a alignment machine in my townhouse. So he quotes me a price and I agree. Seemed high but being a garage owner I know the game. So go to pick it up and I'm getting double charged for a strut replacement. He tells me the strut mounts are additional charge when I got quick Struts replaced. Extra 75 bucks. He proceeded to tell me they are separate from the strut assembly. Foul! I got it taken off the bill after he consulted with his manager. So, this says two things. Either the service writer is incompetent or we just gonna fuck you. I say the later. I ran a shop for 16 years. You have a choice. Fuck people or just give an honest service. Trust me. Honestly is the best policy. And you can sleep at night! Your the highest volume Firestone in town. Quit getting greedy! read more

This was my first time at this location and definitely my last! I went in for a few minor things like oil change and tire rotation and before it was ready to be picked up I received a call telling me a that I needed almost $1000 done to it! They were crazy the car barely has 75,000 miles and the way they made it seem was that these were not suggested that they were necessary! I declined and told them to just do what was scheduled. When I get there to pick it up I get in my car and the glove box is wide open and all my papers and stuff hanging out from where they were searching for the wheel lock. Then there's black hand prints on my leather seats, dash and door frame as well as the outsiders of the car! They didn't even reset the oil display on my dash. Then after having it sent to get detailed I find that one of my wheel lock on my tires is missing and when I called and talk to the manager he basically told me it was not their fault and would not replace it. He tried to say someone must have tried to steel my tire. I'm not sure when they would've done it when it was parked in my garage or in a highly secure parking garage at work within 24 hours of leaving Firestone. Their customer service skills are really lacking and I would expect dirty hand prints on my car from some lesser places but not at Firestone in the Galleria area. Don't trust these guys go someplace where you and your vehicle will be treated with respect! read more
