The people are nice and all, seem to know what theyre talking about and are necessarily too bad when it comes to upselling (it does happen but from what ive seen its only stuff that is truly needed) but my one problem with them is this is the second time in a year that ive been there for an oil change and gotten my car back to see the contents of my glove compartment on the floor of the car. On Saturday, December 28, I visited the Firestone Complete Auto Care at 5002 Southport Crossing Pl. in Indianapolis. Prior to having brought my car in, I called and spoke to Dylan telling him I was having issues with my car shifting gears. I mentioned that the "Check Engine" light was on thinking this was due to my gear issues. He told me to go ahead and bring the car in. I took the car in and was told on Sunday that the diagnosis revealed an issue with Cylinder 3 and that the car needed new spark plugs. Not knowing that this had nothing to do with my gear issue, I authorized the work, which totaled more than $660. When I got the car back, the "Check Engine" light was off. By the next day, the light was back on and it still wasn't shifting correctly. Last Friday, I took the car back and told whomever was there that the car wasn't still running correctly. His response was, "That's a transmission issue and we don't work on transmissions." WHY WAS I NOT TOLD THAT WHEN I CALLED OR BROUGHT THE CAR IN ORIGINALLY? Had I known that the Cylinder 3 and spark plug issues had nothing to do with the problem I brought the car in for, I never would have authorized the work. I would have taken it to a transmission shop. THIS WAS SO WRONG! Why was I not told from the beginning that this was a transmission issue and that they didn't do transmissions? While I understand I authorized the work, it was not for the problem I took the car in for. I will NEVER take my car to any Firestone again and encourage you not to. read more

Typically if I have a major car issue, this is my go-to spot. You can always call ahead to schedule an appointment however they also have the option to drop off and pick up later. We dropped off the car over the weekend and they didn't have the part needed so we had to wait til Monday to get it fixed. It was a big issue so it ended up costing us a bit but they were able to fix it. The staff are always very concise and communicative about everything they are doing which is great when dealing with mechanics. They do have a waiting area for those who don't have a ride and/or just having a simple oil change done. read more

We brought my car in to get quoted for new brakes. They quoted us $804.88 for brakes and rotors (parts only), $370.04 for labor, 29.60 for "shop supplies" and 58.41 in taxes which brought our total to $1,262.93. We were able to find the same exact parts for $401.59 through Autozone and luckily, we found a reputable mechanic who will install the parts we bought for $200 so we will save over $600. I tried to give Firestone the benefit of the doubt by calling and asking about the 100% price mark up on parts, but they were unable to give me an answer besides that's how they run their business. I had not been to a Firestone before, but was looking to have the free inspection performed before deciding to proceed with a brake service. I felt that I didn't have a good understanding of what the inspection included and how long I would be expected to wait. I sat for a full hour and then was told that there was something that would need to be done, and it would take another hour. I didn't have the time, so I made an appointment to come back. Then they attempted to charge me for the "free inspection" which I showed them on their website was listed as free. They said OK and waived any fees. I just didn't have a great feeling about it, so I went elsewhere for the brake service. read more

Firestone saved me again! My high temperature light started turning on about 15 minutes after I turned the engine on. Of course when that happens your mind goes to the worst case scenario. I kept having anxiety about my car breaking down on the highway. I assumed it was something big, like the radiator, that was wrong and started researching which new car I was going to have to spend a fortune on. Then I took my car to this location. I let them know that the light was on and I wanted to know why. If the car didn't need any crazy expensive replacements, I also wanted them to change my oil. They told me they would take care of it by the afternoon. As promised, they called me just after lunch to let me know that my car was fine, it just needed the coolant/antifreeze topped off. What a relief! I appreciate them not trying to replace anything that didn't need to be replaced. I picked my car up and the light was off and the oil was changed. The prices here are very reasonable and the service is great. read more

Absolutely horrible experience, for the get go I'm never coming back here again. I went to have an alignment done and they said that my steering box bushings and control arm needed to be replace. And I just replaced the control arms myself. He said can only do the the toe alignment. read more

Sorry that I can't recommend this place. Last night, I made an 8:00 a.m. appointment for this morning for new brake shoes, at which time I was told would take no more than 30 minutes. At 8:00 am, I arrived. It is now 10:30 a.m., my car is in pieces, they just gave me a $1000 estimate for other work my car supposedly needed, and have told me the it would take two more hours to complete. However, instead of charging me for two hours of labor, the estimate is for FIVE. Hmm... So, after 2.5 hours, I still don't have brake pads and my car is still in pieces. I don't mind upselling, but I do mind bait and switch tactics and overcharging. I am taking my car and business elsewhere. read more

My daughter who is away at college at IUPUI needed some basic maintenance done on her car. When she sent me a copy of the bill I was blown away at what she was charged. I'm left to wonder if they took advantage because they saw a young female by herself. First the parts of the bill that I had no problem with- A new tire was needed and installed and an oil change was performed. The cost for those items was fair and the going rate. Lets start with charges for parts. On the left side I will list what the parts were priced for by me at AutoZone and then what they charged my daughter for them. Believe me, I realize that there is always a markup but some of the markups here are ridiculous. Part: Autozone price: Firestone price: Air Filter 16.89 30.99 Lower Radiator Hose 11.99 37.99 Upper Radiator Hose 14.99 41.99 Power Steering Belt 10.89 25.99 Drive Belt 11.99 41.99 Now lets talk labor charges: 1. The two bulbs that shine on the license plate- $24 to change them 2. To change the lower radiator hose- $105 3. To change the upper radiator hose- $84 4. To flush the coolant (you know open the spigot on the radiator) $50 5. To replace the belts- $73.50 I called and talked an acting manager and finally a manager who did price match the parts versus the local Toyota dealership and gave my daughter back $50 which was appreciated but no where near good enough. Avoid at all cost.... horrible management.... the fired them and the new ones are not any better..... will say they will make something right when they damage something but you have to stay on top of them. Personally watched one guy try and sell a lady front brakes.... when he was unable too the assistant manager tried to scare her into buying... went as far as to tell her that if a caliper locked up it would for sure need replaced and if that happened then she would need s complete brake flush. I have a Chevy Cruze.... they quoted me a transmission fluid change at $250 and said it was because my trans has a pan and not a drain plug so that makes it more and the filter is pricey. I told the assistant manager that no Cruze has a pan and the filter is not serviceable and you have to drop and open the trans to replace it. I asked her why the other guy was wrong. She said well we are not ase tech and just go off general knowledge that we have picked up over the years and sometimes bad information it told to customers. I told her that that is why people don't trust them and agree to add on services and I left and will not be back. read more

They patched a tire for me instead of selling me a new one. So my sweet wife goes to get tires installed that we bought at TireRack. They then say oh my your car has serious problems that need to be corrected today. So they flush the coolant: $91.00 and change the air filter $50. I call them on it and what do they say: the coolant flush is part of standard maintenance; lie like a dog. Air Filter, well I maintain her car and it is not late enough in fall to have done that. So installing tires fine. But they cannot be trusted to be honest. read more

A great place with friendly, fair service! Everyone working there was so friendly and willing to give me clear explanations as to what was happening with my car as well as fair prices. It is also nice that they provide TV (with availability of a remote to change the channel) and free soft drinks while you wait, and the waiting area is somewhat cozier than lots of other waiting areas I've been in. Plus, it's right next to Panda Express, so you can walk over there for food while you are waiting! My visit would have been fantastic if I had been informed by the staff of the availability of coupons before checking out, but that is minor. I would definitely recommend this Firestone location, especially if you don't know a lot about cars and want to be treated fairly! read more

We purchased a set of tires from Firestone and have had nothing but issues. Twice now we've had valve stem problems and getting in to get it fixed is a nightmare. I went this morning to get air in my tire and got attitude from the manager. She couldn't find anyone else to air me up so she ended up doing it. Well she put SOME air in my tire but not enough. As a manager I'd like to think you would know how to read a pressure gauge but I guess not. read more

Went in to have 4 brakes and rotors replaced on a 7 year old domestic sedan. A manager named Jeff said it would be $1000 and after I freaked out and he realized that I know a little about cars, he offered to price match other shops. I told him to take my car down immediately. Went to Car-X and had all 4 brakes and rotors replaced for $400. Either Bridgestone Retail Operations encourages this type of gouging or turns a blind eye to it. Either way, BRSO needs more decent and competent leadership. You can't do stuff like this in the era of social media and expect to last. read more

If I could I wouldn't even give them one star. I took my car in due to my low tire pressure indicator on. The gentleman at the counter said he could not get me in right away but I could make an appointment. I did so and returned at my appointment time. An hour after my appointment time they finally brought my car into a bay. 30 minutes later I was told that 3 if my tires were in bad shape and needed replaced. I plan on selling the car so I did not want to put any more money into it. I told them this and reiterated that I needed to know why the indicator light was on and asked if they checked for nails, screws, etc I a tire or if the spare needed air. They just came back to I needed new tires and I was at risk if I did not replace them. What a scam!! A few days later after minimal driving (they did nothing to my tires) low and behold I walk out to find a flat tire. Clearly they did not check the tires!!! I will be taking my car to another facility to have the tire inspected. read more

Really horrible experience! I showed up for a standard oil change at 9am. I left over an hour later with my check engine light on. I returned and was told it was a strange code that only shows up on cars with over 100,000 miles on it (my car has less than 12k). The tech said it should be ok now, but if there are any more problems come back. Next day less than a mile from my house the light came back on. Called the store and was told to come back in and a tech would look at my car again. So I made another trip in only to find the tech had left for the day. Some other tech looked at it and after half an hour told me that it's not their fault but gm had sent a message to them about a fuel injection problem and I should take it to the dealer. I called and spoke to the manager Michelle the next day and to say she was rude was a understatement. I told her that I was upset that she told me to come back and the tech would look at my car was gone. I wanted a refund and she said "if that will make you feel better about your car being broken, ok.". WHAT? YOU BROKE MY CAR! Next day at the dealership guess what? They forgot to put the oil cap back on. Really?? So I go back for my refund during the time Michelle was going to be in and shocker.... She's left for the day. With refund in hand I will never return to this Firestone ever and I will tell everyone I know about this terrible business. read more

I waited for two hours for a new battery to be installed on my 08 Chevy Impala. Their inventory said that they had two of the batteries I needed- turns out they had none. It wouldn't have been bad if they realized that they didn't have a battery when I brought my car in. Or sometime during the first hour they had my car. Worked on a gas leak leak in my caravan. Breaks went out on my way home from work the next night. Brake line right behind gas tank. They changed plugs in my Durango and it lost power and the gas mileage went down by 4 mpg. I've used firestone for 30 years. No more. Maybe it's just the mechanics at southport store. read more

Had work done here a few weeks ago and needless to say....awful. They did not get my front tire properly secured and while driving on the interstate I lost all lug nuts but one and my front tire almost came flying off. Had to have the car towed and since the tire was not secure more damage occurred. Not a fan. I will not to be back. read more
