I scheduled an oil change here last week. After an initial mix-up on rescheduling my appointment (which Sam rectified when I got there at the rescheduled time), the service was top-notch. Both Sam and Chris were very professional and courteous, and they got me in and out of the shop in a reasonable amount of time. Sam suggested I think about getting a new battery but he was not at all pushy about it (and I wound up doing it), which I very much appreciated. My experience here was great, overall, thanks to Sam and Chris, and they have earned my loyalty. I'll be bringing my car here from now on for regular maintenance and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for your car, too. read more

1 star because 0 star is not an option We have been taking our cars for service at Firestone in Lake Zurich for 15 years. We will NEVER let them touch a car of ours again! This review is delayed due to the need for a rational review. On April 25 ,2026 I had an appointment for Firestone to inspect my brakes. The brake pedal was spongy and a few times it went to the floor while driving. The cars rotors and brakes were repaired in early 2025 at LZ Firestone. Walter stated the brakes were showing wear at 50% and didn't need to be replaced yet. The brake fluid exchange was completed in early 2025 but that service was recommended again. Walter said the technician drove the vehicle and did not experience any issue with the brake pedal. On April 30, 2026, I took my car to a Kia Dealership due to the continued concern with the brake pedal to the floor and having to be pumped to stop. The technician video taped his inspection and the inspection revealed: 1. Brake calipers and caliper pins were ceased 2. Rotors were warped 3. Sub par brake grease was used 4. Brake fluid was not drained fully - only drained out of the reservoir 5. The master brake cylinder also was not functioning/ceasing and had to be replaced If left up to the Firestone staff incompetence, my brakes could easily have ceased and caused a serious auto crash. read more

In a very timely manner, Miguel Looked at my car and was able to figure out the problem and I was on my way quickly, at an extremely reasonable price....a fraction of what the dealer would have charged. This street lamp (the one that's supposed to be facing the main Firestone building) blinds anyone who's driving past them on their way to Target. You can't even see what's coming from the opposite direction when the light is in your face. It's enough of a hazard under normal circumstances--imagine if someone had a migraine and was trying to drive through here. read more

I took my 2010 Ford Focus and bought two new front tires for $269. My car has the lifetime alignment that bought back in 2012 for $300 and that gives me the alignment for free... an epic deal by Firestone! A couple hours later I got a call from FS stating that they were unable to do my alignment because the left and right tire rods needed to be replaced and they were unable to get the alignment done without replacing both parts. Firestone quoted me out the door $456. That sounded a lot to me...so I politely stated I would shop around for a bit. Brought it to Hollis Brothers in Barrington because he said he could replace the left and right tire rods for $195.. which is half of what FS wanted. But that sounded like a deal to me! Got a call a couple hours later from Hollis Brothers stating that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my tire rods and that there should be no reason why FS couldn't do the alignment.. Firestone said that the outer rods were completely frozen and Hollis brothers said that they didn't even need to heat up the rods that he could just twist them with no problem. Dave from Hollis brothers offered to do the alignment there but it would be anywhere from $130-287 depending on how bad it needed aligned.. I seriously felt betrayed.. I called back and talked to Chris and he just stated that he would show me the tire rods if I brought back the car but considering since he didn't do the repair he was just standing by the notes.. but now I don't know what to do.. because now I feel that if I bring back my car to Firestone for the alignment... how do I know if FS will even do it!? I feel upset because I bought new tires from Firestone just so I could get this alignment done for free but now the trust is kinda broken. I'm just feeling really disappointed and stressed because now I don't know what to do. Earlier this year I bought 4 new tires for my SUV. In June, I had a flat tire. I called and explained to them that I recently bought new tires from them and I needed 1 fixed or replaced. They told me they could 'fit me in' 5 days later. I went across the street to Just Tires. They fixed the tire while I waited. Yesterday I awoke to another almost flat tire. I have been going to this Firestone for years. There were some warning signs along the way (like them losing key fob parts. I had to hound them for 3 months before they took care of it), but their price seemed to be reasonable, so I continued to patronize. The recent encounter made me feel I need to write this review to warn others. I have had two sets of tires (summer and winter) for my BMW, and I used to take them in to this Firestone to get them mounted on one set of RIMs I have. They used to charge me around $80 to do this in the past. I ended up buying an extra set of RIMs, and I took my car in to get the summer tires put on the new RIMs. They asked for double. It seems like a same amount of work to me, so I asked them to explain the difference. They kept telling me there are two sets of RIMs instead of 1. It became clear in the middle of the discussion that they didn't really hear me or understand the situation that the amount of work involved is the same or maybe even less than before. The reason for my negative review is that one of the guys (Steve) walked away in the middle of conversation stating that this is a waste of time. The other guy (Patrick) told me to go away and walked away as well. I could hear him cursing as he walked away. Regardless of the price, this is not an acceptable behavior. There was no provocation on my part as I was willing to pay what their price is now, but just asking to understand the difference from last time. Very disappointed. read more

While the front desk reception was friendly, my experience with Firestone has led me to believe they have unethical business practices, where they push unnecessary services on customers that lack knowledge on cars. I took my car in for an alignment after having new tires installed. The front desk associate was very friendly and was able to promptly take my car into the garage, as I made an appointment online. During my service intake with the front desk, the associate kept pushing their Firestone credit card on me, stating I would save xx% on my invoice and be able to spread the payments for a few months. I declined. I did make a request to have them look at my drivers side wheel, as it was making a faint scraping sound when I turned the wheel to the left. The front desk guy said they can do a vehicle inspection for me no problem, but at a $10 charge. I thought a vehicle inspection, at least a visual inspection, in most, if not all shops were complimentary. I declined, as i could just look at it myself and save the $10. After waiting for 25 min in the store, the front desk guy came out of the garage and told me that the technician would not be able to complete my alignment without having to replace some necessary parts. Similar to another Yelp reviewer, they stated that they would need to replace both my inner and outer tie rods as well as my inner tie rod. He stated that the lock nuts for my tie rods were seized and the technician could not break them loose, even after applying heat from their torch. The store quoted me over $800 in parts and labor for the inner and outer tie rods. Adding in the cost of the alignment, the total invoice was over $1,000. I suspected this may have been a sales tactic, as I am very aware of the condition of my vehicle. I regularly perform regular maintenance in my car. I declined the service, to which the front desk associate once again, suggested I apply for the Firestone credit card to receive the discount and extend the payment. I left Firestone and drove directly to a trusted mechanic I frequent. I had my mechanic look over all the parts that Firestone recommended replacing. After throughly looking over my car, my mechanic told me that all suspension components were in great shape and did not need replacement. Since my mechanic does not have an alignment rack, he was unable to perform the service. I went to Discount Tires afterward, and they were able to perform my alignment with no issues and with no mentions of having to replace any parts. I suspect it is common practice for Firestone to recommend unnecessary parts and services in order to meet sales goals. Their service was very friendly, but they were trying to rip me off with a smile on their face. Just beware if you choose to take your vehicle here or to any Firestone location. Really disappointed in the Firestone location. I stopped there on Sunday November 28th in distress because my tire had lost air and was at only 25 psi. They are open until 5 pm. They refused to help me stating that their hose was broke. Let me say that every bay has a hose and they were taking an order for 4 tires as I stood there as well as working on other vehicles. So of course, they had to fill those new tires with air and they had to run their tools with air. They could have easily had me back up to a stall and put an air chuck on any hose. It's really bad form to refuse 30 seconds of time to help a fellow driver in distress and then give an excuse such as "our hose is broke" while working on other cars. read more

Update April, 2017: I received a telephone call from a Firestone customer service representative who was appropriately apologetic and told me he would have a "one way" conversation with the store manager. He offered a refund ($15) for the lamp (though the manager attempted to refuse payment, the charge actually had gone through) but I declined because I wanted to be clear that my complaint was not about the money (after all they HAD done the service), but about the rudeness and hostility. Also because it would require a trip back to the offending store. He then offered me a discount on future service. I have to think about that, but if I go back to Firestone at all, it won't likely be the Lake Zurich location. Update 3/21/17: when I posted the following review several weeks ago, I got an almost immediate message from Firestone expressing concern and requesting the invoice number. I provided that immediately, and haven't heard from them since. ________________________________________________ I wrote a fairly unflattering review of this place last year, referring to the service as sloppy but despite other Yelpers' reviews, I did not find them rude or hostile. BOY THAT HAS CHANGED! I said before that I would probably trust them for tires, but not for more extensive work. I made the mistake of coming here for a lightbulb. Now, just let me say that the technician replaced the bulb properly, but their store manager (STORE MANAGER!) was about as rude as I'd ever seen. I did ask a question. That was my error. Curious that they had opened the hood as part of replacement of a rear lightbulb, I asked why, referring to my inquiry as "curiosity." He seemed irritated, and gave an answer that was somewhat cursory. When the car was finished, I asked the (much more helpful) woman at the counter, a follow up. By this time Manager Kevin was seething. He said he'd answered my question, and I said (to her) that I thought it was her answer that had been informative. I feel I would be totally remiss if I did not take the time to write about my most recent Customer Service Experience at the Firestone Store - Lake Zurich. This review is related to a 4 Tire install/Balance they performed on my 2014 RAM 1500 Pickup. Let me start by saying that these tires were ordered "online" and I had them delivered to the Firestone store for an install. Patrick was my Service Rep. The install was performed in a timely manner, and I was outta there! Anyways, a few weeks later (and 1500 miles) coming down off the Mountain from Maggie Valley N.C. (on my way home from a fantastic trout fishing trip with some family!) I had a problem with the install ( I won't go into details - but there was a lot of shaking going on!). In any case, I was able to eventually pull off, and make things "right". ...and get home with only minor damage to my truck. The next day I drove in to Firestone and talked to Patrick who IMMEDIATELY stepped up, acknowledged the issue, apologized, and said he would take care of the damage! We scheduled an appointment the next Saturday to get the work done. ...Wow! Honesty and Integrity were on full display. And the story doesn't end there. The next week I drive over Saturday morning to get my truck fixed ...and Patrick is not there. Hmmm, I'm silently wondering if we are going to be talking about a bill in a couple hours. I walk up and talk to Chris who looked up my appointment on the computer and said that he would be helping me out. Well Chris not only supervised replacement of the obviously damaged components, but he also identified a "potential issue" with others ....and replaced those components as well!!! Double WOW!!! In closing, I want to Commend BOTH Patrick and Chris for the amazing Customer Service experience they have provided me. It is not every day you find individuals like these guys that FREELY demonstrate those virtues that we all would love to see from the people who supervise work on our vehicles - Accountability, honesty and integrity! When I brought my wife's van in for an oil change, the manager and the tech pointed out a damaged boot under the car. They said they could not repair just the boot. The had to replace the entire tire rod. The cost $1089. I don't know everything about cars, but I had a feeling this just didn't seem right. I took the van to a couple different shops for another opinion. They both offered to replace the boot. The cost $70 including the part. Suburban Auto in Wheeling did a great job. I saved myself over $1,000 by NOT using this shop. read more

Took my car for a rear brake job. They had difficulty removing the wheels due to lug nut issue. They called and quoted me $786 to replace 20 lug nuts. The dealer cost for the same set was $186. When I asked Patrick about the difference he said there was a markup. Obviously, but that's a bit ridiculous. My vehicle was brought in because of overheating, ac-off, and power reduced reading on the display. I get it there it takes 3 days to diagnose and 4th to fix. When I get it back the same errors are on the dash (overheating, ac-off, and power reduced) and the tech said that was a different issue then the overheating issue. I was like the heck you say and went to talk to the manager. He treated me like an idiot, and tried to explain why those come on. I asked for my money back because you didn't fix the issue and then he was like the issue was fixed. So they reset the computer and so far it is working. In this conversation I was told they "test" drove the car which if they did they would have seen the error not been able to drive it. So that is one lie. In this conversation I asked how do I know they replaced the water pump if I they are just resetting the computer and they said they would show me a pump in the back. (They could show me any pump what the heck will that do?) Finally I did get him to write on the receipt that if it fails they will refund my money. But I am expecting the famous (They don't work here anymore) when I need to get this fixed. I feel very lucky I have enough auto experience to see this as a scam. This has made me leary on sending my wife in there for any services. Do they have a service book of ways to screw people over? At least they are pro scam artists. read more

Definitely won't be going back here again. Was told that I needed to replace my CV axle on the left side. Bought the exact part that they told me to buy AND from Advance Auto Parts (which is where they get the part from). I use A VERY experienced mechanic who actually used to work for Firestone and has done all of the needed work on my car. (Why pay hundreds for insane shop fees when someone just as experienced can help you out?). I have a 2013 Mazda Skyactiv hatchback, engine VIN 7. After research, I read across multiple sites and car shops that my car is very specialized even in this part and that it is recommended to buy the part OEM. However, I went with Firestone's recommendation and the part is absolutely incorrect. The splices don't fit into the assembly correctly because the diameter of the part is smaller than the original. I called and spoke to Pete at Firestone and his statement was "Well if you had done it with us it would've been correct." And "Well, the auto parts store should've checked to make sure the part was the right one." Really? First of all, had I taken my car into Firestone, they would have called me saying that the part isn't correct and that they'll need to get it from the manufacturer. AND attempt to charge me even more although they presented me with an estimate. In addition to leaving me without a car for another day or so. I wish automotive businesses such as these would just be honest and at least tell you that a part needs to purchased through the manufacturer rather than lie and attempt to steal your money. I'm sorry but had you told me that "Oh, let me look into that for you and get back to you" rather than blame it on everything else but yourselves I wouldn't be writing this review and likely taking this complaint to the Better Business Bureau. You're talking about a $20000 vehicle and trusting obviously incompetent mechanics to work on it... Be careful trusting this business when it comes to parts because I don't think that they really pay attention to VIN numbers. They just use databases for all standard vehicles and think that everything works for all vehicles. Won't be giving my business anymore to this Firestone! read more

Thanks to a pothole, a tire off the rim, another flat, and a bent wheel, I found myself being towed to this Firestone. It was the close spot, and since they do Tire Rack installs, I figured this was the excuse I needed to finally replace my badly worn tires. They close at 7pm, but their lobby was open when I dropped my car off the truck, and they were able to get me set up and processed, and then let me wait in the warm lobby for my ride. They do actually price match Tire Rack on tires - so rather than wait the couple days it would take to get them delivered, I just paid the slightly extra for a pair of Bridgestone Potenzas. That plus balancing, mounting, alignment, tax, etc, etc, came to about $810, which was more than I think it would have cost from Tire Rack, but probably saved me a couple days of rental. Unfortunately, one of my wheels was bent, as I mentioned, which they noticed the day after I dropped it off (as they weren't taking in anything new at the time I dropped it off) and it ended up being sent out to be "repaired." I didn't see damage to the wheels when I inspected them post-pothole (which I did do, since I had to drive a short distance on the flattened tires) to check for pavement damage to the outside lip of the wheel. So, not sure where it was, but I can't see it now that I've picked the thing up, soo...whatever. It's obviously balanced now - I'm not getting the bad steering wheel vibration I had previously, which is really nice to finally be rid of. One nice thing - I had the option to pre-pay, have them lock the keys in the car, and pick up after hours, saving me from worrying about schedule. A nice touch, and probably something other places would do, but worth mentioning. I didn't end up using this, given the particular way the stars aligned. I hope to not be back - this place is a ways from my hood. But in a pinch, they did fine work. read more

I have been coming to Firestone on and off for the past 10 years, and have visited branches in Texas as well. I am somewhat conflicted about its rating, because service is inconsistent and depends greatly on its personnel. The quality of service is good, but pricing is above average. This leaves it up to its personnel to help defray the cost with coupons and recommendations. Some have recommended I do service when not necessary, while other recommend I don't when not necessary. I will say that everytime I go to Firestone, I leave thinking I will never come back, just because it is just too expensive. But ... then I come back in hopes of dealing with the "right" representative! read more

I don't know if I'd take my car there for diagnostic issues but I've never had an issue at the LZ location for oil changes and tires. I tried the one in Crystal Lake because it's a lot closer but they were incredibly unprofessional. LZ Firestone has always been friendly. Like every place they recommend services but I've never had a $600 list of things like a dealership gives you. Update - My car started making a noise when slowing down so I did their free brake check. Several people drove the car and they were able to hear it but they were not positive if it was the brakes or struts. Appreciated the honesty that they weren't sure - they could've easily said front brakes needed replaced. read more

As you read through the other reviews there is a constant theme with this facility to up-sell and continually operate a questionable business. I am from the nearby area and along with other neighbors have encountered multiple poor experiences with this company. I recently was scheduled to have tires installed that I purchased through a 3rd party company. This tire supplier had apparently aligned themselves with Firestone to perform all of their installs. All invoicing and costs were paid and processed through the 3rd party tire company. After the tires were installed by Firestone in Lake Zurich, and to my surprise, I was presented an invoice!! True to form, there was an attempt by Firestone to charge an erroneous additional fee of $78. In addition, they discovered an apparent tie rod problem which appears to be their "go to" auto issue. Fortunately, I was able to identify the error for the charge and declined the work on the tie rod as their price was exorbitant. My problem is there are plenty of people out that are vulnerable to these practices. read more

My car showed battery light . When I visited the store, they were quick to identify the reason as bad alternator and told that I have to replace it. I asked them for the lowest cost option and they came out with a bill of $819.00. I Googled for the costs of the alternator that ranged anywhere between $199 for a remanufactured one to $ 314 for a new one. When I showed it to them they told me that they will use OEM replacement part and can provide limited lifetime guarantee while they can only install the part if I purchase it elsewhere and cannot offer guarantee . As it made sense I agreed to pay $819 . Once they finished the work and started the paperwork to charge my card I asked the guy at the desk about the part warranty and he said ( this was a different guy than the one who gave me the estimate) the part installed is a remanufactured one and can give only one year warranty. I asked him why should I pay so much extra money for the remanufactured part as this can be done lot cheaper and also it was not the OEM replacement part that I was told prior to the work authorization. This guy gets rude and tells me that I should understand there will be mark up when they buy the part from others etc., I was very upset but nothing can be done at this point and arguing with people who have deceit built into their business only causes heartache . In the end he told me that he checked in the system and noticed there is a limited lifetime warranty but still I paid TWO TIMES than what I should be paying to get the alternator installed elsewhere. This place is pure rip off and stay away from this store. For this kind of money you get a dealer service with genuine OEM parts replaced. Please do not use this store for any repairs read more

I won't lie, I joined Yelp specifically so I could thank this Firestone for all the great work they've done to my car within the last seven months with a five star recommendation. I like this place so much because of the integrity of the employees and the company. There aren't many places I trust with my car, but these guys I know are always honest with me. For example, I recently went in to get an oil pan gasket leak fixed, and after checking it out and spending over an hour with my car, they came back to me and brought my attention to a bigger problem. My transmission was leaking. The oil pan gasket is at least a 400 dollar repair and they recommended I don't fix it and focus on the transmission, which I eventually had to go to another shop to get repaired since they don't deal with transmissions. And what did firestone charge me for my hour and a half visit? Nothing. They could have easily sold me an expensive repair I didn't need, but instead pointed me towards a more problematic repair that they couldn't even do. Even with the five stars these guys aren't perfect. They installed my new struts incorrectly and also didn't recommend an alignment to the new tires they sold me, which caused them to go bald within a month. BUT, as any good business should, they acknowledged their mistakes with no argument and properly replaced and installed the products with no extra charge. Lastly, the reason I gave these guys five stars (instead of four which I almost did) is that the shop that I went to fix my transmission leak at (which was an angie's list top rated seller) charged me 54 dollars to clean off the transmission to see where it was leaking from. Fstone LZ did this same cleaning a few days earlier before telling me they couldn't fix this problem and guess how much they charged me? Nothing. I love these guys and they really make me feel taken care of here. Can't recommend them enough. read more

This is the second experience I've had with Firestone where they jacked up the price and wanted me to pay for items I didn't need. In this case, their estimate was almost $2,000. They even wanted to charge me to replace parts that I have previously had replaced and bought a lifetime warranty from the Firestone in Round Lake Beach. I took the car somewhere else and the repair was $262. I'll never even given Firestone another chance due to this overcharging being common in multiple locations. read more

My car suddenly started vibrating and making an extremely loud noise the other day. Having zero knowledge about cars I wanted to find the closest place as I wasn't sure if it was even safe to drive although none of the dashboard lights were on. It was also two days before Christmas and I had a lot of driving to do so I went to the very first place I saw which was this Firestone. Wow. Courteous? That would have been a dream. Professional? Yep another dream. Instead the two buffoons that I talked to told me to get a ride home and they might have time to look at my car in a few hours. Merry Christmas to me. I rolled my eyes at the condescending twosome and left to find a shop that employs people who have a little courtesy and compassion for their customers who are in a bind. By the way, the problem was diagnosed in less than 5 minutes at the next place I went to who actually bothered to take a quick look rather than leave me stranded with no transportation during the holidays in zero degree weather. Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND, I have never had worse customer service. This happened on 12/23/2013 in case the owners care about the quality of their employees. This is the worst tire place I have ever dealt with. They don't actually honor the appointments they make, the staff is rude and not helpful. They typically have one person working the front desk and a bunch if customers waiting. Nothing is done quickly or efficiently here. Go somewhere else. I was actually trying to buy some really expensive performance tires for my Porsche, which you would think they would want to sell?! Instead I will spend more to have them done at the dealership to avoid dealing with these people. read more

I went here to have some tires installed and balanced. I would NOT recommend this place. I have the OEM wheels that aren't low profile or large. I requested to have them use stick on weights instead of the crimp on. Crimp ons damage the coating on the wheels and with the salt here start oxidizing the wheels. Most newer cars on the road don't use crimp ons from the manufacturer. Anyways, they said they could do that. I came to pick up the car and drove off. No problems until I hit 65 mph. That's when the front of the car vibrated so severely I thought the wheels were going to fall off. So I return and the tech says that according to the machine the wheels are balanced. My thought is well that's weird, the wheels shake like crazy like they aren't balanced. His response is that the only option is to use the crimp ons. Rather than argue I'm just going to take my business elsewhere and have them rebalance with stick ons like most cars on the road. I definitely wasted my money here. Go elsewhere and pay the same $$ but get better service. read more

Too bad I had to select one star for this place. I live in LZ and really try and support the local businesses, so it pains me to write this. It's a tire store - not too many people with time on their hands to go into a trire store without a reason;. I SERIOUSLY need tires for my SUV. I walked into this place with an older gentleman sitting at a computer, whispering profanities under his breath, so I figured he's in the middle of a problem. In comes a young guy from the "shop" and doesn't say a word. Basically, no one even acknowledged that I stepped into this place (BTW - I was the only one there). I proceeded to "look around" figuring these guys were busy - next thing you know, I'm the only one in the room. WTF!. As i proceeded to walk out, get into my truck, the old guy is standing in one of the bays (hands on his hips and certainly not helping anyone, and looking at me as if I were crazy. I'm in sales and wish I had it this easy. THey had a qualified customer, with a legitimate need, cash, and ready to buy. Needless to say, Discount Tire got my business (oh yeah - different city). I paid for coolant to be replaced and this place didn't put ANY coolant in. Because I realized this past their 7 day window (when my light came on again) all I get is a sorry for the inconvenience and free oil change. Absolutely not. Do not trust these THIEVES. read more

I had a really bad experience here a few years ago but I heard they changed management. I'm not saying don't go there, because I believe in supporting local business. If you do though, and something seems really expensive, don't be afraid to check part prices online and maybe get a second opinion. It's always good to be safe. read more

Store fraudulently charged my Firestone card for someone else's service. Firestone card says I have to hash it out with the store, and the store itself says they can't do anything about. When you ask to speak to the manager, the manager doesn't actually show up to work. Total scam Firestone!!! Some random person gets service and they bill me for it, and now I have to take them too court just because my name was in their computer. read more

Seems like a new team. These guys are much friendlier than the last team. I only rated them two stars because I dropped off my car to get checked because I just bought it used two weeks ago. The store called me and said they recommended a wheel alignment because there was inside wear on the two front tires. When I told them I literally just put on those snow tires and they have less than 100 miles on them he said he would have the tech check again. Sure enough, they were perfect. Sure seemed like they were trying to extract additional sales even if it meant outright lying to customers. I still like the counter guys so much better than last year. read more
