I'm a stickler for car maintenance but I've been having some bad experiences with my normal service provider and was overdue for an oil change. I stopped at Jiffy Lube on my way home from work a little after 5PM. They got my car right in without a wait. I was warmly welcomed. A couple minutes later, I was offered some additional services like filter changes and tire rotation, both of which I agreed to. Used to service in a dealership setting, I was prepared to be there until they closed but I was out the door in under 20 minutes. Amazing! I can't say enough nice things about the gentleman who took care of me. He was helpful, courteous and made my experience pain free which was such a relief. I think I got a bargain if compared to what I would have paid at the dealership. I'll definitely be a repeat customer. read more

The manager told me that the lower priced (of several) Pennzoil synthetic oils he offered included old recycled oil. This is not true. An effort to upsell to the more expensive oil. Technician who did the work, who did not speak English, seemed lost and confused regarding what he was supposed to do. Did not clean windshield exterior, as included in services to be performed. read more

to start I want to say that the staff were very friendly and polite and quick. I just had my oil changed here and although it says $29 advertised for an oil change I ended up spending significantly more without knowing. I denied all additional services, I asked them to not check anything other than the most basic of oil changes. Pull the filter, replace it, and put in oil. I was only given the option for synthetic or semi synthetic, I was told semisynthetic was cheaper so I went with that. My $30 oil change was well over $100... By the time they told me the price, they had already done the work so I had no option but to pay. I absolutely feel slighted and will never return. read more

Overpriced! Insisted that the mechanic asked if I wanted synthetic oil and told me the price before he started the job. NOT TRUE! Plus it was $ 25 more than what the dealer would have charged. However after I complained, he did match the dealer's quote for the same service which was about $ 25 less. read more

Happened to stop at this Jiffy Lube which was 30 miles from my home with a problem I didn't think they could fix. Figured I was looking at a big towing charge. I am beyond appauled by what just occurred.  A manager named Chachi dropped the f bomb in front of my kids. Synopsis of what occurred. I was on my way to pick up my mother.  I normally go to the Jiffy Lube in McHenry, IL and have always been satisfied with their work. Today I went to the Vernon Hills, Il location.  I wanted to go to a Jiffy Lube that honored the 25% veteran discount. Upon getting there I asked Chachi if I was ay a location that would honor the discount.  He asked me to show a military ID so I did.   While waiting a women had asked Chachi for cream.  He said, "We don't have any.  If you don't like it file a complaint." After a few minutes Chachi reappeared and said the car was ready.   He stated to show him the coupon code.  I showed him MIL25.  He then stated the store does not accept it but libertyville, il does.  I then stated why he would pull that twist. He asked what twist.  I stated he confirmed before the services started that they would honor the 25% veteran discount.  However at this point he continued to deny. I stated I would call customer service.  However they were closed.  In frustration Chachi then said "fuck you then... no discount... how bout that." He took a step back from the register and made fists along his sides. I then stated we are both frustrated and no need for foul language.  He proceeded to ring me up with a 15% discount. We exited and as I exited I told the remaining customers that the manager had poor customer service due to dropping the f bomb. As I exited the store the manager approached me and squared me off.  He said never to come to this store again.  He said call corporate and they won't care. read more

My 10 minute oil change took 30 minutes with only one other car being serviced at the same time. I have a new car but their computer said that I had 49,000 miles on the car. They could not figure out what I had done with the extra 44,000 miles. When I left I was given a sticker that said my next oil change was due at 108,631 miles. I tried to explain that was wrong but the only answer I got was "that is what the computer said." I guess your oil is really good because it is going to last over 100,000 miles before my next oil change. When I got home and read my receipt it indicated that my new car now has over 100,000 miles on it. It also says my exterior windows were washed. They were not. I hope that they put in the right oil. read more

I watched as the 'mechanic' dropped my oil pan(took screws out and let it down), and I asked why he was doing that. He said "it's good for it". Right. Then the manager came out and asked me who changed my oil before. He said they stripped the oil pan plug. Likely story. My truck never leaked oil. If the prior mechanic stripped it, it would have leaked. They put a rubber expansion plug in it. Inept, dishonest folks there. read more

Heard from Jiffy Lube last week and believe it or not they actually offered me a $20 discount on an oil change if I just give them one more chance. $20 discount for a repair (that was their fault) that cost me over $900 to have fixed. How ridiculous. They have been contacted by the Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Fraud Bureau, and they have completely ignored requests from them regarding their side of the story. Just proves that they don't really car about you or your car. read more

I got oil changed in my BMW. Soon after, I intermittently started getting check-engine light warnings and various codes. I finally brought to reputable mechanic who finally diagnosed an oil pressure issue due to a missing plastic snap on part from the oil filter cap that was not put back on and discarded with the old filter at oil change. Rather surprised they could make this rookie mistake, I brought Jiffy lube my repair receipt ($220) for reimbursement. I spoke to manager Chachi who spoke with his Operations manager and maybe even the owner. They denied my claim indicating I should have brought the vehicle back there first. I indicated that evening they checked the filter they would not 'see' a missing part that way not out back in by them. Furthermore, I indicated it took a while for the intermittent engine light to occur enough to warrant detailed attend room due to very infrequent and temporary lighting. They denied their claim and wouldn't make their mistake 'right' by reimbursing my costs for the detailed sensor diagnostics labor before finding the missing piece, new cap with cage and labor. read more

Why 5 stars? Noticed my wife's car needed an oil change. Was Sunday at 3:56pm, I have a busy life and getting an oil change during the workweek is difficult. Yelped for anywhere open on Sunday's in the area... None to be found but Jiffy Lube, but they close at 4pm on Sundays. I was expecting an annoyed look, annoyed body language or tone of voice, because yeah... I'm that guy... Coming in at the last second. But, nothing like that happened. Ignacio asked me what was up. Said I needed an oil change, and asked if I was too late given it was 4 minutes to closing? Ignacio says "no problem". I came in to use a GroupOn and was told that they don't accept them.... Ok fine. I then ask if he can check my tire pressure and I am told because I'm past the 3k miles they can't do it... Seriously? This is the first review I've ever left on yelp. I cannot stress enough how much I would avoid this establishment. They replaced my windshield wipers with defective windshield wipers. Nothing like the unbearable squeak of faulty wipers - sounds like a cat getting strangled when they are on. They also lied about the price of the set of wipers. when I called them out on it, they said they had already disposed of my former wipers. They tried to charge me to top off the fluids even though there is a large sign behind the register stating that fluid top office free. At one point the technician came to me in the lobby with a dirty air filter, claiming it was from my truck and saying it needed to be replaced. However the air filter he brought me was not the kind that fits in my car - it wasn't even the same color housing. These are the type of car repair scammers that you've been warned about your whole life. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I sat at this Jiffy Lube from 8:07 am to 8:38 thinking they would just be late and no one ever came. The store hours were from 8-7 and no one was there. The first time I came here I literally was over charged for an oil change that should have only cost about $50! read more

In addition to the quick, efficient service, they were polite, went out of their way to hold the door for me, and actually smiled as we interacted. They clearly demonstrated the essence of SERVICE. I would leave zero stars if I could. I came in for the signature oil change 12/30 and after nearly two hours of waiting received my vehicle back. They were shorthanded, distracted talking on phones in the car bay, and switching back and forth from car to car. I had three different techs working on the vehicle at different times doing who knows what. The best part is they did not refill my windshield wiper fluid. I caught them and made them fill it as it was checked off as completed but empty. Other fluids I could tell were not topped off. They tried to upsell myself an engine filter and cabin filter to which I said "yes". I then saw the tech putting the dirty engine filter back in my engine. I confronted him and at first denied it then told me actually I don't need it replaced yet. If I don't need it replaced then why did he tell me I did? Then finally yet another story that the part was out of stock. He apologized for "my confusion." I was not confused, I caught them not replacing the engine filter and have no doubts I would have been charged for it had I not seen them putting the dirty filter back in. Find an honest shop and run far away from the Vernon Hills location. read more

Usually these place get a 3. They are quick and convenient. I've used this location before and they were adequate. I watch as they harangue a young lady to come into the service area so she can see all the services they claim she needs. She finally says ok but she is only going to get purchase an oil change. Now it's my turn for them to tell me what I need. I decline - they can change my oil, I have a real mechanic to do other things. I give the tech specific instructions on how to close the hood as the latches can be tricky. I go back inside and guess what, I hear these jokers banging my hood in an attempt to close it. I walk out, tell them what to do and get attitude. I close the hood myself. While paying, I ask for the manager and the name of his superior. Manager comes out, introduces me to the owner. I state the problem in no uncertain terms, owners agrees he did not follow my instructions (it the owner who is banging my hood). I get song and dance from the manager. Owner doesn't say a word, not even an apology. Scratch this place from ever getting my business again. read more

Took my '07 Camry to Vernon Hills Jiffy Lube for an oil change. After 40 minutes I sense something is not right. I ask and the owner says the oil plug is not going in properly because the "threads shifted" on the oil pan where the oil plug screw goes in, but it should be OK. I take the car home and that afternoon I see a rather large oil stain on my driveway, and return to JL. After around 30 minutes he says he was able to use a slightly bigger oil plug to stop the leaking, but next oil change I would probably have to have the oil pan replaced due to the "threads shifted" mentioned previously. Return home and after 1 hour more oil on the driveway. Return to JL and the owner again says nothing he can do since the "threads shifted" and I need to have the oil pan replaced. Take it to my mechanic and he says the only way the "threads shifted" is if the plug was over-tightened, otherwise the plug was put in un-aligned to the screw threads, and the slightly larger replacement plug did not have the same thread pattern as the old plug, so the larger plug totally stripped the thread pattern. The cost to replace was just under $300. Returned to JL and the owner says "I told you the threads shifted and I'm not paying for this." After argueing he threw me out and threatened to call the police. Do not bring your car to the Milwaukee Ave. Jiffy Lube in Vernon Hills as the owner will not cover any damages that occurs to your car as a result of his negligence. read more

Wow! My son and I drove in and they weren't busy, no cars being worked on. Francisco pulled the car in and started the service... cleaned the windows, checked all the fluids, and vacuumed. He then came out to where we were sitting and told us that the oil in our car was still clean and that we didn't need to change it. He said that the oil required for our car was good for 10,000 miles and that we still had 5,000 to go. No charge for all the other fluids they had already filled. If you need your oil changed, go see these guys! Very honest and friendly!! read more

Not very friendly manager but work was done on a Saturday morning with minimal wait time. I don't like that you can't see the work being done but staff works with what they have. Military discount would be great but wasn't offered. I did use a $5 discount but had to search for a coupon code which was honored. I'll drive further for a military discount and a friendlier staff. read more

The absolute best thing about any oil change is when the crew does NOT try to shove a million different unnecessary add-one to their services. I just swung through here accidentally trying to turn around and go to a more expensive place to get my oil changed. I received excellent service as well as no pushy salesman antics that I was 100% expecting at my original oil change spot. $41 for all the services they include was an absolute delight and I plan on returning in the future. It's rare to find spots like this. Great job all around! read more

I had a good experience at this location. All I needed was an oil change and it was relatively quick. They didn't try to upsell me, which was nice. I also appreciated the clean waiting area a gian flat screen playing Sportscenter. Other Jiffy Lube locations are dirty and scary, so this one was a nice change of pace from what I'm used to. read more
