I scuffed my tire and went to Costco (my go-to) for replacement, the cost was very high since I planned to sell the car so I found myself at Discount Tire. As I was driving there, I passed Belle Tire (who quoted me lower than Discount Tire on phone) but since I was in Discount Tire parking lot, I decided to go in. I told them that I wanted a second opinion and was helped by Eric. He was so knowledgeable and kind, explaining everything very thoroughly, plus they had the tires in stock and could get it done an hour. I never even made it to Belle Tire for an in person opinion or quote! Yelp reviews weren't the best either. Eric made me feel comfortable (my car is my baby) & helped me get tires that fit my budget & purpose. He explained thread count & helped me fix my TSPM light that had been broken for over year! I can't wait to go home with my lady soon. I waited 2 hours at Costco yesterday and wasn't even seen thoroughly, in that same time, I got all my issues fixed right there on the spot at discount tire. We have been regular customers of this store for YEARS. After having a difficult time for a scheduled tire rotation on a Saturday (just don't), I decided to pop in and complete this task today as one of the employees who filled my tires told me the wear on my purchased tires was very, very low. I was told the tires would be eligible for free replacement under their mileage warranty. Fat chance. Jason advised that because the wear was "uneven" they would not honor their advertised warranty. NOT ONCE did they ever offer alignment or mention that for as many times as I have been there. They also declined the tire rotation because the "wires" were exposed. i always came here for my services and I WAS always taken care of. I have a history of nails in my tires. They always saw it and know it. They USED TO BE HONEST also. I didnt feel that way on 3/18/24 and felt totally dismissed by one of them. They almost sent me on my way without checking any tire...and in fact There was a nail in my tire, it turned out. I'm glad I stayed and told them to check that tire.. He told me that the tire was still at 40 and didn't see a nail in it. But I just had it inflated from 27 yesterday by Delta sonic to hold me over so i can get it checked out. Long story short, I got a call back after I called and complained and they're going to make it up to me. 5/22/25 got an oil change and the guy said whoever put your new tires on didnt do it right. Got them here a month maybe prior. So i explained what the oil change guy said and they fixed it. I Go 8/25/25 as my tire light was on again thinking nail again. But they said my wheel was corroded and I needed new wheel. I was not fully informed or educated on what was needed fully and my interpretation of what they were saying was not matching what I got. and a guy customer there told me to put the old wheel back on and just get it fixed. As my mental state was declining and anti trust building they were still trying to sell me new wheels at discounted prices despite my hysteria and crying after the customer was telling me they were ripping me off. Trying to sell me all 4 new wheels or just the one new wheel closest to what I have now. I said im in no mental state to make decisions and they were still trying to sell me something. Finally they put the old wheel back on and refunded me. So I can think it over and get 2nd, 3rd opinions. Taking advantage of a single female that does not have male support in her life is NOT OK. PERIOD. even tho I usually ask the questions for understanding. But that guy customer made me feel these people totally played me and now im going for other opinions hoping I can still drive temporarily on the wheel til I get it fixed or replaced. I usually drive to South Bend to The Tire Rack to buy tires at good prices. Now that Discount Tire owns The Tire Rack, the price was the same for 4 run flats. The service was OK and quite honestly, when they installed them, one was underinflated. Easily enough taken care of. Nine months later, I notice that I'm losing about 1 psi a day in one tire. After filling it at the dealer a few ties, I bring it back to Discount Tire. I had to make an appt for the next day to have them look at the valves (probable problem). Next day, after 1/2 hour, they say that they are done. That's it. I ask, what was the problem? The tech says that they found a nail in the tire, removed it, and patched the tire. No big deal. No charge. How can I not be happy? read more

I bought from this place once before when I purchased some run-flat tires for another car. This time my front tire had a very slow leak so I figured I'd get it fixed. Jorge went out and checked the tread on my tires and told me they were getting close to replacment but I still had some tread left. (I decided to replace them anyhow. I do a lot of driving and the back two were replaced recently at another tire place. I didn't go back to them because of their incompetence.) Jorge found the exact tires in stock, gave me a price and mentioned the repair option for about $40 more. He didn't push it. He is a real low-pressure sales guy. He didn't push new tires, he didn't push the repair option. I added the repair option and left my car there. They called me in less than two hours and I returned to pick it up. Now this is where Jorge stands out above other service guys anywhere. When I got in line to get my car there were 3 customers ahead of me. While Jorge was servicing those customers he asked if anyone in line was waiting to pick up their car. (He did this when he was helping me earlier. To him, it's all about servicing the paid customers first. He feels paid customers shouldn't have to wait in line with people who might just be coming in for an estimate.) He multitasked to take care of the person he was working on while ringing up my tires so I could leave. Very cool. Then he took service a step further. When I got in the car I noticed a minor problem. I was going to let it go but decided to get it corrected. I walked back in and got in line. Jorge was helping a guy get some pricing and was heading outside to check the guy's car. Normally service guys are blind to anything going on around them besides their immediate customer. Jorge spotted me in line again and stopped to see what he could do for me. I mentioned the problem and he immediately talked to the service guy to get it corrected. This is the way service is supposed to be but rarely is. Jorge is unique. Besides Jorge being an outstanding sales guy, the place also has a great customer-focused attitude. Free bottled water or coffee while you wait. Free tire air checking and free tire repairs, even if you didn't buy the tire from them. I know giving free stuff will get customers in the door and then they can sell them stuff, but that's not the attitude here. If you need some repair they will mention it, but they aren't going to do the hard sell or upsell. This customer-focused attitude is why there was a steady flow of people when I went there on Saturday. And how much more did I pay to get this outstanding for the two front tires compared to what I paid the other, incompetent, big tire center when I bought the back two tires...? Less than $10. This location is absolutely horrible when it comes to checking and/or getting air in your tires. Went in last month, about 10 minutes before closing time. Pull up where you go and get air. About 10 seconds to me pulling up the door where the air is closes. I wait a few minutes and nothing. I beep a horn a couple fast times, nothing. Just before that the manager walked right past my car and nothing. I was finally able to get air. One of the guys in the tire change area/garage was wearing SLIDES while working. Thinking that's an OSHA Violation for sure. Fast Forward to yesterday. I get in line to get air there's another car ahead me. We're both waiting about 10 minutes before someone came out to check our air. Guy gets to my car and tires, does all 4 tires. Comes around to my window and I said "All Done?" he's like yes all set. Before I pull away I ask him if all 4 of my tire caps are good? He goes can you please pull up just a little bit? LOL I'm guessing he let one slip out of his hands and wasn't going to tell me about it. I pull up, he grabs the one that was under the car and puts it back on my tire. The only reason I asked is because the last time I went the guy did not tighten the caps right, a couple of them had only been turned a tine bit, just enought to grab the thread. I was wondering why in the past my caps were missing on a couple of my tires. The guy last night was legit going to let me drive off without one of my caps on the tire valve because he let it slip out of his hands and under the car and if I didn't ask him about it, I would have had one missing. They looked at and found a screw, plugged the tire. The other firm did an oil change and was asked to look at the tire. Said nothing wrong, buy a new rim. I am a long discount tire customer. Came in to ask for a simple tire repair and instead they wanted to sell me a set of four new tires for over $1,200... Then told me that I could get cheaper tires but I had to wait a week for them to come in. Discount tire has saved me on numerous occasions. They stand out amongst the rest because of their HONESTY. My first, second and third experiences were all with waking up to find a nearly flat tire on the car - getting it filled up quick with my little pump and running it over, to which they'd find a nail. Each time they patched it for free!!! So this last time when i had an issue i didn't even think twice, i went there. Unfortunately this time it couldn't be patched. And they were so worn i couldn't just replace two, i needed to get a whole new set. They worked with me to find the right size, find ones that wouldn't be too noisey but were still within my budget, etc.... they got them on right away. So i was in and out in under an hour and a half as a walk-in. I always get SUPER friendly customer service. They seem to know what they're talking about. I never feel like anyone is trying to take advantage, or get you to purchase things unnecessarily. I only wish they did more! I wish there was full mechanic capabilities, because i truly hate finding a reputable mechanic! I highly recommend coming here for your tire needs. I moved to Buffalo Grove from Palatine almost ten years ago, but i still drive there instead of finding a new place because i KNOW they can be trusted.
