STAY AWAY ! I brought my car in for a oil change and coolant flush/Fill and everything seemed fine. The had a staff of 4 and only one car in the bay. Well what started out as a maybe a 2 hour process turned into 7-8 hours of chaos. The Manager is a unprofessional, very deceitful and violent. I was told one price and then when it turned out he didn't have any of the parts needed, he had ordered it??? when I kept on asking him how much longer and why doesn't he have these basis part in stock, HE IGNORED ME. what should be a few hundred dollars turned out to be twice that amount after he rang me up... I was installing a new battery when the screw to the bracket that holds the battery in broke off in the bracket. I was able to drive it to Midas and they immediately drilled the old screw out & made sure the battery was secured with new screws. Great service! read more

Made a appointment and they were going to charge me 175 for a diagnosis and 107 for an oil change. I was asked to wait over two hours just for a the oil change alone. Manager interrupted our conversation to push for diagnosis. In the end I drove down the street to Take 5 and got an oil change and scan for 100 bucks and it only took around 20 minutes. read more

Brought my SUV in because of a couple of nails in the tire. They initially said the tire couldn't be repaired and needed a $200 replacement. I declined, so they put a donut tire on. They also quoted a wide range, $300-$1000, for the AC issue without proper inspection. Took my SUV to the dealership for a recall service today. This shop is in my neighborhood I took all four of my cars there for over ten years with the idea that I was building customer loyalty but they were continually changing managers and mechanics so when I finally had a problem with one of my repairs and had to take the car to another shop to get the repair that should have been done in the first place for half the price I got zero loyalty back. There were some good managers over the years but the GM, the owner and the corporate office could care less how long you have been a customer. So I have avoided this shop ever since and suggest you do the same. read more

When I got there, both of the employees came and said we can't help you, then asked what I was there for. If you can't help me, it doesn't make a difference what I'm there for. Unable to give zero stars or I would. Worst auto repair experience I ever had and I'm 77 years old! In Oct. 2022 Dean and Tom "tagged teamed" me on a brake job for $1,860. I had the car towed due to brakes failure. After a weeks time and unreasonable delays I took the car home. The brakes were less than effective but I got just a song and a dance. After nine months I took the car for an inspection at another shop (not Midas!). I was told my brakes needed to be replaced. I showed them the Midas invoice and was told I was robbed and extorted. They fixed my problem satisfactorily for $1,170. So, they explained that I was charged two times the amount they pay for the same part and also I was "ridiculously" charged for labor costs. People, don't trust these guys. Read the small print and see a three month period of time on the warantee covering only brake shoes and pads. DON'T GET "MIDASIZED"......... I had my car towed to Midas for repairs, and they diagnosed a problem with the starter. They charged me over $1500 to replace it, which was significantly higher than expected since a starter typically costs around $200. They charged me close to $700 for the starter alone. In hindsight, I should have taken my car to the dealership, where the same job would have cost me $967, including their inflated prices. My 2006 car showed the check engine light while we were driving from Wisconsin to Chicago. We chose to pull into this Midas franchise, and were totally happy with the service which Tom provided. After he had the car scanned, he gave us sound advice about the results involving a catalytic converter malfunction. I came to this Midas without calling and was able to be helped immediately. I was blown away by the level of service and honesty by the staff here. Long story short, a clamp holding my exhaust together rusted and fell off leaving my exhaust disconnect, extremely loud, illegal and dangerous. The Midas staff was able to patch my exhaust without having to order any parts, this saved me a lot of money. Many other auto repair shops might have taken these facts as a opportunity to take advantage and gouge the price. Instead, I got a permanent and professional repair at a very fair price. read more

So I brought my car in there on 6/24/19 as the muffler couldn't get any louder. They quoted me $800+ and I should bring it in on Wednesday. I am sure glad they couldn't get to it right away as I would not have saved myself oodles of money. I swung by my mechanic and he said he didn't mufflers but he suggested I take it to Discount Muffler & Brake in Palatine. I called them immediately and they were able to get me in the next morning and they only charged me $250. The oil change price stays the same, the fees fluctuate depending on who's the manager. I've been here 4 times in the past year and every time you get different fees added on. No, not the oil disposal fee, which most places charge. This time it was $4.99 Shop Fee... last time it was credit card processing fee. If you're okay with random fees every time, they're easy to get an appointment with, probably for this exact reason. Good luck. read more

Excelent Customer care! Mark, the manager overlooks all aspects of the business. I was impressed with the way he diagnosed and fix my problem. Normally when you go anywhere for service is expected to cost you more then the list price. Not in this shop. He was kind to spend the time and educate me(I don't know much about cars or mufflers) and only after he figured out that I understood what is going on, only then he start taking prices. To my surprise he gave me choices which made me feel good. Midas s a good place, but people working in those stores make all the difference. I hope that he will be still in charge of the store when I come back,defenetly I will, and I know that an honest smile and hands capable will take care of anything my car needs. Took the car over because I had two issues - one an exhaust problem and another was a faulty vent fan. Of course while I'm driving there, the vent fan suddenly decides to work again. Money saved, but who knows for how long! Anyway, I got there around 8AM and they put the car up pretty quickly. Gave me two quotes - one for the center pipe (with the hole in it) and another that also included the muffler as it's on the way out. Opted to keep it cheap, but appreciated the dual quote. Everything was done timely and professionally. No hype or upsells. So far. the car works fine and I have no reason to believe it would change. I really liked dealing with this place and I'll be back there again when necessary. Rarely would I give a mechanic 5 stars out of the box - but this place is worthy thus far in my book. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I brought my wife's/son's car in for service recently when the yellow dash light was on. One week and almost a $1000 invoice later they gave us a car that about 2 miles after we drove it out of the shop was totally undriveable - only 2 cylinders were firing and you couldn't drive the car more than 10 MPH. We went back to them and tried to negotiate a partial refund but they completely "stonewalled" us. The store manager Tom's boss, Ray, was one of the rudest and most customer unfriendly people to whom I have ever spoken. Worst experience ever! Took my car in at 8am to have a noise checked. They not only misdiagnosed my car they also couldn't finish the work on time. Tom (store manager) told me the rear bearings needed to be replaced and it's $989.00. I agreed to have it replaced but when i picked up my car the noise was still there. When i spoke to Parker(mechanic) he told me the rear differential also needed to be replaced which cost $3k-4k. I asked why wasn't I told about this from the beginning he said he didn't diagnose my car it was Ray (the GM). They clearly misdiagnosed the problem but Ray kept denying it and would not give me some sort of compensation other than a store credit. So not only does my car still have the same problem it had before I took it to this store but I'm also out $1000. This is the worst customer service and experience with and auto shop ever. read more

Con Artists. I paid them $400 to fix my car. They didn't fix it right the first time. Now they are saying they need $500 to fix the same problem. Even worse, Midas Corporate office lied to me and said they would call me in 24-48 hours, that didn't happen. I called them back a week later and was told that Midas don't give out refunds. So I spent $400 for nothing. My car is not fix. And the Midas Corporation don't even care. So please everyone do not go to this Midas location or any other Midas location. I'm begging you! They will try to be nice to you, but that is part of the con. Also, please do not fall for their fake reviews. They get their employees to post fake reviews online. read more
