I rarely leave reviews, but this experience warrants one. If I could give zero stars, I would. I'll start with the only positives: scheduling was easy, drop-off was straightforward, and they sent the invoice promptly. Unfortunately, that's where the good ends. I brought my car in for a tire rotation, oil change, transmission fluid service, and coolant flush. I dropped it off at 10 AM. A few hours later, I got a call saying I needed two rear tires replaced... one worn and one with a nail that was "unrepairable." There was no proof provided, and I agreed over the phone. I was charged $577 for tires and $524 for brakes. The pricing already felt questionable, especially after reading similar experiences from others regarding this shop. They also recommended for me to replace my cabin and engine air filters because they were dirty. This is IMPOSSIBLE, because I had personally replaced both just TWO DAYS prior. That immediately made me question everything else they recommended. At that point, it became clear they were either not checking anything or just trying to upsell blindly. I called later to confirm pickup and was told 6:00-6:15 PM, even though their posted closing time is 6 PM. I arrived right at 6, only to see my car just being put on the lift. After already waiting 8 hours, I had to wait another 50 minutes, making me late to my plans. That same night, I noticed fluid leaking from my car. I placed a paper towel underneath overnight and confirmed it was transmission fluid. Not only that, the fluid didn't even look fresh and was more brown than red. The steering wheel was also pulling to the right, making the car feel unsafe. I had to return the next morning for them to fix these issues, issues that should never have happened in the first place. After this, I inspected the car myself and found even more problems (photos included) * Multiple plastic retainers under the hood were broken or missing, leaving engine covers unsecured * The coolant reservoir was nearly empty, despite paying $168 for a coolant service * The driver-side wheel well liner had been left detached, causing it to drag and get damaged while driving At this point, it's hard not to feel like this place is careless at best, or dishonest at worst. I paid around $1,800 and ended up with new problems, missing parts, and had to spend additional time and money fixing their mistakes. To their credit, the front desk staff was friendly. But good customer service at the counter doesn't make up for poor workmanship and questionable practices in the shop. I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. read more

I've been to several Firestone locations over the years, I've been to other tire places too. Firestones always make me feel respected and they treat me fairly. This location is no exception! Yesterday I had regular maintenance at my car's dealership and the technician found a nail in my tire. They don't do tire repair so they recommended another tire place (see my other recent review) that was not a Firestone. That place was eager to sell me 2 new tires citing wear on the tire, even though the dealership had just told me they were fine. I walked out of that place. This morning I bring my car to this Firestone location (should have started here...) after a short weight in a clean lobby with great service they told me they took the nail out of the tire and it wasn't leaking so I was good to go! No charge! I know low cost/free tire repair is common with tire shops but the honesty about what I needed and the speed with which they treated a walk-in really left a strong impression. I will be back the next time I need tires. read more

Be careful bringing your car here--especially if you're not knowledgeable about cars. My 87-year-old father took his car in for what he believed was a simple brake fluid service. He was then quoted nearly $1,000 for a long list of additional work he did not request. The way it was presented to him was the most concerning part--confident, matter-of-fact, as if all of it was necessary. He trusted them. I only got involved because I overheard the call. Once I started asking questions and pushing back, most of those "necessary" items fell away. That's not a misunderstanding--that's a red flag. It's hard not to conclude that they were attempting to upsell heavily to someone they assumed wouldn't question it. We ended up authorizing only the basic service that was actually needed, but the experience left a very bad impression. read more

DO NOT COME HERE! COMPLETELY WASTED MY ENTIRE DAY!!! I drive a fleet / company vehicle so I understand that there are additional authorizations that need to take place. Called in advance to see if there are reservations that can be made and they said yes, so I booked a 9 AM appointment to allow for plenty of time for all of the maintenance and service to be completed. I made sure that they knew it was a fleet vehicle, and all of the services that I needed to have done, and she even saw the other fleet vehicles in the system that I had brought in in the past When I arrived, the man said there was no reservation in the system. And when I questioned it, he said that he would still take the car in, but even having a reservation doesn't do anything to make the service faster, it just lets them know approximately how many cars to take in or not for the day. I let him know the services that I needed and I was originally going to wait in the shop for my car to be completed, but I was told it may take a while because they need authorization, which is something I hoped they would have done ahead of time when I called to schedule the appointment, so I walked back to my apartment and left my car there for them to work on. I was told that all they need was my VIN and they know how to contact Element Fleet services when I asked if they needed the card. Told him that I had another appointment at 1 PM and he said he would do his best. Made sure he had my phone number. I had not heard from them by noon so I canceled my 1 o'clock appointment elsewhere, knowing that I had the deadline of March 5 to get this done for the company. So I wanted to make sure it was completed. Even pulled up my email from Fleet services. I know that they close at six so I called shortly after five to check on the status and was put on hold for 15 minutes before I simply hung up and took the 15 minute walk over there to pick up my car. Turns out there was absolutely nothing done to my car at all. Car had not moved. Not even the oil change, brake inspection, safety inspection, and tire rotation. The check engine light was on so they were going to perform the diagnostics on that, but I made sure that he knew the oil change and inspections were priority and to get that done first regardless of the check engine light diagnostics. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS DONE!! The tablet was supposed to have certain things marked off as to what was done, but nothing was marked off at all. She also mentioned that there was something in the system about 11 AM so at the very least that probably indicated when the items were authorized by the fleet services to get the services done even though I dropped my car off at the original reservation time of 9 AM! Fridays are the only days that I can get my car serviced as that is my work from home day and I'm usually out driving to see clients every single day during the week otherwise. She asked if I wanted to leave my car overnight. It's my Friday night and beginning of the weekend! I need my car! Hoping that they did some work but just didn't mark it off in the system, I took the keys and checked all the gauges in the car and nothing was done. The oil was still at 13% remaining, the tire pressure was all the same as before. Apparently the technician that was working on my car left at 3 PM today. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS DONE AND THEY HAD THE CAR FOR THE ENTIRE DAY FROM 9 AM UNTIL 6 PM, AND I EVEN HAD TO CANCEL MY OTHER APPOINTMENTS FOR NOTHING!!! COMPLETELY WASTED MY ENTIRE DAY!!! I even called ahead to make sure that I had my bases covered! The gal that I talk to, when I picked up, the car was nice, so it may not have been a reflection of her service, unless of course she was the one that did not put my original reservation in the system when I called. I have a pretty lengthy commute for work. Taking that into consideration, when my car notified me a tire was losing air in the middle of my Sunday, I stopped at the nearest open shop to get the tire fixed. In this case, it was this Firestone location. Unfortunately for me, the plug was not done properly by Firestone and I was left on the side of the road in a section with little to no signal that following Monday. The tow truck driver took me to the nearest tire shop which informed me they couldn't redo the work from another shop due to liability concerns. No fault on them, this was all Firestone's doing. Firestone had deemed the nail location fixable and gladly charged me 30$ whilst improperly performing the repair leaving me out a tow ride, a lost day of work and in need of a brand new 500$ tire since they left mine defective. Astonishing considering this tire only has 800 miles on it. Do not say a service is doable if you cannot perform the service correctly. read more

I'm one of those entertainment industry folks who's turned to Uber to help make ends meet during this (what else can we call it?) depression in our industry here in California. I have two experiences to report, one with this business and one with American Tire Depot on Jefferson near the 405. I experienced a rapid pressure loss of the passenger-side rear tire the other day during an airport run. I had my car (a 2025 Audi Q4 e-tron) towed to American Tire Depot on Jefferson. They were polite, professional, did an excellent job, and what did they charge me for the patch of my tire? $0.00. It's what they do to make an impression and to initiate and/or maintain customer loyalty. When the exact same thing occurred again (apparently my car picked up two nails at a construction site last week) yesterday, I decided to go to this Firestone. Natalie was polite and professional. The repair technician Jesus, on the other hand, wouldn't acknowledge or respond to me when I asked questions. Natalie informed me that he's on the spectrum, so of course he gets a total pass from me. He did a fine job. Firestone however does not embrace the kind of policy that American Tire Depot does, this despite having done my $50 Uber inspection with them last month. The cost of this tire patch? $30.91. If you have no other option (if you can't make it down to American Tire Depot on Jefferson and the 405), this Firestone is a fairly good alternative. read more

I feel very taken advantage of after my recent experience at Firestone. A few weeks ago, I went in for a tire alignment and oil change, and when I came to pick up my car, they told me my brakes were cracked and that I'd need to spend roughly $600 to replace the brakes and pads. This was confusing because my 2020 Toyota Prius has less than 40,000 miles on it. The next day, when I drove my car for the first time after the appointment, there was a loud screeching noise coming from my car. I had to cancel my plans and take the car back to Firestone to figure out what they messed up. They never fully explained the cause of the noise, but it eventually went away. After all of this trouble, the most disappointing part is that I took my car to another mechanic, who personally showed me each of my brakes and brake pads and explained how they assess their condition. My brakes and pads are essentially like new--no cracks, no issues at all. I feel incredibly disrespected by Firestone's attempt to pressure me into a costly brake replacement. I will never return to any Firestone location. Additionally, I'm extremely frustrated because I paid for their lifetime alignment package about a year ago, and now I can't get that money back. Came here today just to let them check my tires because I had a tire pressure warning on my dashboard. Came here at 1:30pm they took my keys and been waiting and waiting until it's 3pm and that's it I had enough and just forget about it, I came to the desk just to get my keys and for 15mins no one in the front desk is there to assist you but i saw the guy outside vaping.. really? So while I was waiting for my keys there were 2 guys in front of me and told me he's been here 3 hours waiting just for a flat tire also. I received no communication until 8/28/25, when a rep assured me I'd hear from claims within 3-5 business days. It's now day 6+ with no contact. I followed up -- still radio silence. This appears to be their standard customer service strategy: stall, ignore, and hope customers give up. I'll update after the court hearing. Updated Review (as of 8/14/25): This matter is now a legal case (Small Claims Case #25BHSC01758) and Firestone should be served within the next few days. I received the same reply on my Google review and have already sent 3+ emails to the address they provided after being asked to, with no reply, prior to filing. Their public response here is the first acknowledgment I've received since my initial reply. Updated Review (as of 8/10/25): Original review posted 8/2/25 I originally posted my review here and on Yelp after submitting a complaint through Firestone's official website. In both cases, I received the same copy-and-paste response asking me to email a specific address with more information. I did exactly that, I sent my details to two different places: The customer service email listed on their official website. The email address provided directly in their public reply to my review. After my initial complaint and reviews, I promptly received generic "we're here to help" replies. I followed up with the requested information immediately. Since then: silence. In total, I have sent: 1 initial complaint through their website. 2 public reviews (Yelp and Google). 4 follow-up emails to both the website customer service address and the review-reply address. To date, I have received no further response from either department. In my personal opinion, this creates the illusion of good customer service, publicly replying to reviews to appear helpful, but privately failing to follow through. While we are sure this positive review applies to all Firestone car care centers, we are speaking specifically of the service with regard to the Hackensack location. It would be an understatement to suggest that their focus and attention to our cars was just good. In fact, it was superior to any dealership or other service places where the items of choice such as tires, engine maintenance, attention to detail towards diagnosing our cars should they need additional servicing -- all are beyond outstanding. In fact, this location has a "super mechanic" name Ivor who not only knows today's computer oriented cars but also was a rare find regarding fuel injected classic vehicles. Furthermore, they honor appointments, and do above and beyond inspections where we found pricing across the board to be better than competitive versus other concerns, including tire companies. Had an appointment at 12 at this location, was originally estimated 30min-hour for a simple tire install. We got there right at 12, and got told it would now take an hour-hour and a half. That's fine, we had time. After coming back at 1:30, the car hasn't moved no services were done. I asked the service manager why it wasn't finished to be told that all the techs were out on lunch and would be coming back in 30 min. That would mean another 1.5 hours of waiting - again simply for a tire install. Keep in mind I had an appointment, and told them it needed to be done at a certain time which they said "should be absolutely no problem." Won't be coming back here for any reason. Never really deal with bad customer service but I just wanted to share my experience. I dropped off my car at 2pm, paid full in advance for a new tire. I call them and ask if it's ready at 430 pm, the time they said it would be done by and they said it was. My cousin is picking up my car and she says the spare is on still and it hasn't been worked on. 530 pm comes along (they close at 6) my tire spare is still on, no new tire, and I've spoke to 2 associates on the phone prior. (Giovanni) there were no cars around and they claim to be looking for the tire still. I end up asking for a refund and getting my car back. 3+ hours to have my car sitting there when all it needed was a tire change. Wow. Just wow. And on top of that, no apology or sense of customer service towards their customers who have paid and waited. read more

Had issues with an over heating engine. I didn't even make it 24 hours before the engine over heated again. Had to get a tow and they said they missed the bracket/ rod and the technician didn't check the specs for my car and didn't know about the fan. (Apparently that was the problem) had I known about that I wouldn't have gotten new tires that they said I needed. I knew I was going to need them soon and had planned on replacing within the next three months. So I paid $1201 on Saturday. Had to take off work Monday (loss income, thanks Firestone) and now have to pay an additional $930. Do NOT use Firestone unless you want to be paying for the problem multiple times read more

I did the $9.99 promo to have my tires rotated and a bunch of stuff, like battery and brake pads, checked. Employees were nice. Pro Tip: if you walk about 10 min towards Arizona Street, you can hit Bodega Wine Bar while you wait. That's what we did! We came to change tires on two cars. We had an appointment for the first time slot on an 8 am Sunday morning, so we expected to be the first ones there and it should be quick. They said it will take around 5 hours or more to change the tires because they are back logged. Perhaps they should contact the customer and say there is a big delay before we get there? What is the point of having an appointment if a simple tire change can take 5-6 hours?! Every other time I had an appointment in other shops to change tires everything was completed in less than 2 hours. They kindly agreed to put a rush order on one of the cars, but it still took 3 hours to be completed from the time of the appointment. I got quotes for the tire changes over the phone. However, they wanted to charge more for one of the cars than I was quoted on the phone. We negotiated back the price to what was quoted...Why are they trying to charge more than the price they told me themselves over the phone?! The next day when I went to pick up the other car, the guy did not know neither which one was my key nor which was my car. He asked is this your key? Is that your key? Is this your car? A professional shop should have an organized list of which car and key belongs to which customer. I could totally have left with another car if I had wished to do so. Just when you thought you heard it all... I went to Firestone Complete Auto Care in Santa Monica... and this happened. Background: I purchased a new battery from Pep Boys on 5/9 and AAA installed it. Upon doing so, the technician informed me that my alternator was bad and draining the battery. When a friend called Firestone, they said bring it in and they can install a new alternator. --sounds simple 20 minutes later, my friend and I dropped-off my car at Firestone. I handed my keys to a mechanic and informed him that the new battery needed to be disconnected because the alternator will eventually drain it while sitting. The mechanic said they will. Just a few days after dropping off my car, my same friend saw it parked on Selby, a residential street directly behind Firestone. I wondered if they already fixed my car. --Actually, it was the contrary. On 5/14, my friend gets a call from Firestone saying we need to get my car out of their garage. He said they can't find the replacement parts and that there was a bolt stripped and they don't have the equipment to cut it off. --"Replacement parts for what" you ask? --Stay tuned. Upon arriving at Firestone, the manager said my car won't start. I asked if they disconnected the battery after I left, and he said that's not the problem. When I asked what the problem was, he said "I don't know. We do body work." --Can't make this up. The manager said if I replaced the battery with a new one, the alternator will kill the car within 10-15 minutes while driving home. When I responded "doubtful" he replied "Don't you know how an alternator works?" I told the manager that I was going to take my dead battery back to Pep Boys, replace it, come back to Firestone, install it, and bid farewell to have another garage replace the alternator. The manager attempted to dissuade me from going to Pep Boys. --Does he know something I don't? 30 minutes later, I arrive at Pep Boys. They remember me and replace my battery in the blink of an eye. Upon returning to Firestone and having the new battery installed, I noticed someone had gone through the trunk of my car while it was left at their garage for a week. How do I know? Because someone removed my ozone machine from the locked trunk and now it magically appeared in the passenger's seat. --interesting Upon having the new battery installed, my car started right up, however, I noticed the Firestone technician tugging on the steering wheel to straighten the front wheels before exiting the driver's seat. --What could that be about? While attempting to pull out of Firestone's parking lot, I noticed my car no longer had power steering, and although my residence was only a few miles away, the temperature gage on my car went beyond the red zone and blew out the radiator and thermostat while I was pulling into my parking spot. Upon contacting AAA to come and disconnect my new battery, the technician looked under the hood and said "There's a socket wrench down there!" --Excuse me? That's right. Firestone left a socket wrench in the engine compartment of my car, then drove it. By doing so, damaged the power steering and cooling system, THEN didn't disclose to me about the damage, and instead let me drive away without saying a word. --Complete Auto Care? When the Firestone mechanic drove my car on Selby with a socket wrench attached to a bolt in the engine compartment, it knocked-off the belt to the power steering pump and lodged between two hoses and the engine fan, preventing it to spin and cool the engine. As a result, it caused $972.28 worth of damage. Upon returning to Firestone the next day, I informed an employee that AAA found their little present they left in my engine compartment. I also informed this employee I was missing a wooden dowel from my trunk. This employee said he'll look around the shop and get it back to me tomorrow when I come back to speak to the store manager about being reimbursed for the damage they caused. --Why are Firestone employees removing items from a customer's locked trunk? To top it off, after being referred to Firestone's corporate claims department in Nashville, they stated they won't pay for the damage they caused without me signing a release to not discuss this matter with anyone. Recap: So let me get this right. Firestone breaks my car and doesn't tell me about it and then they let me drive away with both the steering and cooling systems compromised and didn't say a word. However, once Firestone got caught, they now won't pay for the damage they caused unless I sign a release to keep quiet about my horrific experience with Firestone Complete Auto Care. read more

The only difference between getting Rob at gunpoint and getting Rob at this tire shop is no difference. You drive in with your flat tire, hoping they will help you along but with no success they will take full advantage of you and tell you that you need to replace the tire $300.00 to $400 or $600 in my case when easily it could've been patch For $30.00. They do not care at all. Going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. and the worst case scenario you pull in at 7 o'clock in the morning they already have 3 to 4 cars in front of you and they tell you it's gonna take 3 to 4 hours to get the job done. I took my car to him at 10:30. I call at 4:00 and he says my car is up next for the technician. Nobody bothered to call me once to tell me anything but I now have to wait til tomorrow to raise hell. I should have had priority considering g I was sold a defective tire and not have to wait 2 days for something the store has available. Horrible experience and to make it worse I am a regular customer here but will never give them my business again. I will use Santa Monica location from now on. Totally disgusted and done read more
