We used to have our smog check done at the Shell Station on Sunset, but it burned in the Palisades fire so we needed to find a new place. The 76 Station survived the fire, but no longer does smog checks so they recommended Brentwood Service. I found a $20 off coupon on their web site and was told no appointment needed, so off we went. They completed the whole check up in about 15 minutes. The price seemed fair, especially with the coupon, and I'm good until 2028! read more

These guys charge up the wazoo for their services. That said, the mechanic is excellent, the workers are friendly, and the station is clean and well run. The work done on my car was excellent, done in a timely fashion, and, so far, no regrets. It is nice to support a local business, but do be aware that they are going to charge you more than most mechanics will...but, for the convenience and the strong work they do, they get a big thumbs up. read more

After finding this location on Yelp, I called ahead and they welcomed me over. When I arrived for a smog check they pulled my car in and had me out in roughly fifteen minutes. Their team was on point. One team member was handling the paperwork while the other began working on the vehicle. And although they did not honor the Yelp Check-In coupon, they did offer me a different discount. To be honest I was a little taken back, but that being said, they were friendly, quick, and charged a fair price for the area. They weren't trying to "nickel and dime" me, so I won't drop their rating for the Yelp Check-In misunderstanding. When I found out that my Lexus was beyond the warranty period I fortunately discovered them. They do better than Santa Monica Lexus which is a high hurdle. My 9 year old is doing fine thanks to them. I don't know how they do it in this high rent neighborhood with the prices they charge. read more

I once pulled in to this gas station, and a random man pulled in after me offering to fix my car's paint job and telling me he'd follow me to my home to do it, even after I said no. Needless to say, I was feeling afraid and needed help. The guys here immediately all came out and chased him off, saying they'd call the cops. I was extremely grateful for them. Don't let full service stations become a relic. There are very few full service gas stations I know of that are still in existence. I am fortunate that one of them happens to be very near my home. I like having this gas station as an option when I need the air in my tires to be checked. Mario and Ashley helped me yesterday. Poor customer service. I was told I wasted their time after my smog check failed because of a cold battery in my car which I haven't driven in months. It's one thing for my car to fail the inspection, leaving me to have to deal with it by driving 100 miles in a day and bring it back, and it's another to shit on a customer. I paid for the test. I will not be going back for certification. First time here. Never going back. I will now go to another smog center where I won't be spoken to so rudely. I really like this service station: after years of going to "the dealer," I went for a second opinion. "Vince" has been very helpful in (1) explaining what each repair accomplishes; and (2) identifying the priorities versus "what can wait." I have had tires replaced, and my brakes done. When dropping off, they offer a lift to home/work (which my dealer no longer does). Feeling you can trust a mechanic is so important. I'm glad I found them--and they often have coupons in direct mailers, so that saves me another $20. read more

I came by to get help with my car fan, which was making some strange noises after I replaced my cabin filter a few weeks back. I had been stopping by this gas station to supplement an oil leak every time I needed to drive the car, 6+ months (quoted by many repair shops as a very pricey fix) the employees of this 76 patiently assisted me. Tom Simon (the manager) the friendliest and knowledgeable guy struck up a conversation and offered to just take a look & give his opinion on how I could fix without spending how much I had been quoted. He ended up providing me an affordable and reasonable quote. My car is now running normally again and I couldn't be more grateful for these guys! Prolly the Most expensive gasoline in all of LA. A Gallon of Gas is Always 50-75 Cents Higher here than Anywhere else. Do Not take your car for repairs here. It will take forever and They do not know what they are doing, They Also will Misdiagnose easy Fixes ect ect. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I am new to Los Angeles and was in search of a place to take my car for oil changes, maintenance, etc. In New York I had brought my cars to the same guy for over 10 years so I trusted him a lot and was nervous about going to a new place. I received a coupon in the mail for an oil change at Brentwood 76 so I called them up to make an appointment and was told I could bring my car over the same day (which I did). This was the first time I went (July 2010) and everything was fine. I also had some additional work done on my brakes. I picked the car up, paid and went on my way. The second time I went was October 2010 to get an oil change and some fluid changes. I picked my car up the same day the work was completed and drove it home. The next time I drove my car was on the way to work Monday morning. When I got on the 10 I heard this awful scratching sound under the car... I drove all the way to downtown with this sound under the car and pulled over once I got off the highway. I looked under the car and saw that the guard was hanging down so I tucked it back up and went to work. On the way home the same problem happened and once I got off the 10 I pulled into the nearest gas station. The gas station advised me that the guard needs to come off for my model car to perform an oil change and whoever worked on the car did not reattach the guard. Gee, thanks guys. Now it's January 2011 and my car has been making small vibrations for a few weeks and lunging when I am accelerating... I checked all my fluids and it turns out that they did not property insert the dip stick for the transmission fluid and it literally smelled burnt when I took it out to check the transmission fluid level and there was no fluid on the stick. I am headed over to the same gas station I used the first time to have the guard fixed because I do not know where else to go, I do not trust Brentwood 76 with my car and I will never go there or recommend them again. read more

Great honest mechanics here! Vince & Dorian are wonderful and have gone out of their way to help me with an annoying over heating issue. Vince was so kind to do some research and found a bulletin that implied my car may have an extended warranty for this issue. I take the bulletin to the dealership and YES! THANK YOU Vince, it was something that my extended warranty covered. 1 down and many more to go.. You Mini Cooper owners know what I'm talking about. I can't say enough of how wonderful these guys are. I needed a smog check, called and they said it would take about 20 mins, I went on my lunch break. My car was ready in less than 20 mins and I was back a work, all on my lunch break! Talk about productive! Literally the next day after getting my smog check, my front left tire was flat, I knew I was due for tires.. Just didn't know it would be that soon. Back to Vince and Dorian I go.. I drop in, with my sad flat shredded tire. Dorian inspects all my tires I need 4 new tires (I knew this), but he said I could just to the 2 front now and get the rear ones done later-ish, cause you know - money. Luckily they could order them and my car will be ready by the end of the day. Dorian even gave me a ride back to work! Either way, these guys are honest with totally reasonable prices. When the clutch went out on my Mini Cooper driving down San Vincente--not only did I get great service and Rob went out of his way to make sure that the car parts were from the dealer and had my car back in a couple of days. He also gave me a great deal and detailed my mini before I picked it up. When my mother's car broke down when she came to visit, Rob had it fixed in a couple of hours so she could go home that same day. It's my favorite local service station, and Rob's a gem. read more

So i have lived near this place for 20 years, but never went there, the gas is expensive and i don't need full service. TODAY however, i had a tire pressure light on in my car, I"d gone to THREE places to put air in it and have it checked and NO ONE could figure it out, the light stayed on even though I filled the "low" tire. I pulled into the full service bay at this place, and a guy came out and i told him everything, he spent A LONG time with me, checked all4 tires, read the manual, tried ot reset everythign and nothing seemed to work, but at least i knew my tires were ok. As i drove off the light went off (as he said it would). I tipped him (so it wasn't free) but honestly he was so kind and patient that i know I'll be going back there again to service my car (still going to buy cheaper gas elsewhere) LOL He was nicer to me than the Chevron station where i've been a customer and buying gas for 20 years ever was. read more

This is the second time I've brought in a car with a nail in my tire (gotta love all the construction in Brentwood). I went to Brentwood 76 Service just recently to have my Toyota Camry repaired for a Smog Test issue so I could register my car. I picked them from a list of Star rated Smog facilities on the internet. I recommend this facility to anyone looking to have a Smog Check or some auto repair. When I called they were courteous. Vince and his staff did everything in a timely and professional manner. He also explained in clear terms what was happening with the car so I could bring it back to reset the monitors on the vehicle. I also had Dorian do the retest instead of going back to the place where I first had my smog check. I was extremely happy with the level of service here. I had a staple in my tire and needed to get two new tires (after two people checked it out to make sure that was the right diagnosis). within 24 hours I had new tires and a good deal! By far the worst place to bring your car for a smog that I've been to. They couldn't figure out how to connect my to their computer and declared it defective. Charged me full price for a smog check and sent me on my way. Frightened I took my car to the dealer and paid twice the price for the smog check. However, the car passed on the first try. When I told them what the "mechanics" at this stationed told me they laughed and said that these guys simply couldn't figure out how to hook up a car. Needless to say I was furious. My car is a Mazda Miata. Stay away, there are lots of places that do know what they are doing. read more
