We've taken our cars here several times and have never received anything but quality service. Each time I've genuinely felt as if they've provided us the best possible service and genuinely care about our satisfaction as customers. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because recently I went in for an alignment and they pointed out a repair that I needed and that they wouldn't be able to check the alignment until I got this repair. So, I went ahead and let them order the part, they fixed it perfectly, tested the alignment, found out the alignment was off and then told me because I drive a Cadillac, they don't have the proper tool to perform the alignment there and that I should take it to a Cadillac or GM dealership. That would've been nice to know before I authorized the repair, it is kind of inconvenient to take it to 2 different places. Not a huge deal though. read more

I scheduled an appointment 2 weeks in advance for an oil change and tire rotation for 5 p.m. Tuesday Dec 16. I had to sneak out of the office early to just make it to the appt on time at 5 p.m. This cost me money as I had business at work that I couldn't get to in order to make it to the appt on time. I sneak out of the office early, fight rush hour traffic for 40 minutes to get to Firestone East on time at 5 p.m. I approach the customer service rep at the front desk and he asks for my phone number, name, and home address and then drops the bomb that he doesn't have me on the books, that my appt was never actually scheduled! No appt was ever scheduled! This was incredibly, incredibly frustrating as I sneaked out of work costing me money and also fought rush hour traffic for 40 minutes just to get there on time for this customer service rep to tell me nothing was ever scheduled. I'm not sure if the customer service rep guy (he was little short man) was lying to me in order for him to allow himself to somehow leave early that evening or if the guy I scheduled the appointment with 2 weeks earlier actually did fail to put it officially on the books. The customer service rep even asked me if I knew the name of the guy who I scheduled the appt with 2 weeks ago. Of course I didn't, I thought they were running a tight ship (how dumb of me) and that I didn't need to. read more

I was out of town and my car died in Madison. After 3 days of saying they are checking my alternator and battery they finally called me and told me my car was good to go. My very first car started having battery issues, and Firestone was the only place open near me on Saturday. William diagnosed the issue immediately, kept a straight face as he answered all of my anxious (and frankly ridiculous) questions, and walked me through exactly what the fix was and what I should do in the event that it happened again. Get new tire and have my new tires on the front and best of the rest put on back. I originally came in to get my tires rotated they popped one and put a brand new tire on but left it on the passenger rear and the rest need to be replaced. I scheduled this morning's appointment a week ago, to get one new tire, show up on time and find out they don't have the tire in the building! Really! So now I have to wait 1 hour to get 1 new tire and have them rotated. The only reason I am having it done here is because apparently the tire they put on can only be bought at Firestone, I will never give them any business again. read more

Made an appt. for 3pm, walked in a few minutes earlier and waited almost ten for anyone to be in the front. Going to pass this off as just short staffing with everything going on, and they even had a sign asking for patience during these times. Will also pass off my oil change and tire rotation taking two hours to this as well, and thats only thirty minutes longer than the 1-1.5 hours estimate I was given. However, $130 for an oil change and tire rotation seems a bit absurd (just the oil itself was $86). Based on some quick google searches that is way over the "average" price for those services. I was never told the price at any point until I left and looked at my invoice which I found odd too. I definitely could have asked about pricing and should have, so I would recommend confirming prices before proceeding. Overall just a not so wonderful experience, if you are not in a rush and looking to spend alot for an oil change go for it! He also wrote up my ticket wrong which bad news bud, I was a mechanic. And if I wasn't 38 weeks pregnant, I'd have done it myself. For someone who wants business, it's easier to keep business if you give people real appointment times. Dishonest, bad faith service. Knowingly lied to my face If I could give less than 1 star I would. I took my car in and told them I had a potential issue with the brakes indicated by the Brake sensor. I also told them I had had issues with the sensor giving me a false reading in the past, as the wiring has been a bit funny. For my trouble, Steve gave me a 3 page diagnostics with tons of recommended services that were downright lies, such as dirty/low oil (I'd had my oil changed 2 weeks prior) and the car needing a complete change of brake pads (I had just had the back brake pads replaced) among many, many others. When I called them out on this, they changed their story and said that only the front brake pads needed replacing, and that they were at 2mm and in desperate need of repair. Steve kept saying "If I remember correctly, the brake pads are worn to 2 mm." I called him later and asked him to confirm, and he said the same thing to me--I was suspicious because I hadn't heard any squealing from the brakes, and a mechanic should be able to tell you with confidence--not "if I remember correctly"--what brake pads were worn to. Their invoice was for over $1,000. I could tell they were trying to wring as much money out of me as possible, so I took my car to a local, honest, reputable mechanic at Midwest Engine Service who told me that the car was completely safe to drive and it was just a wiring issue with the sensor--. My back brake pads were at 8mm, and the front were at 5mm. If I wanted to get the sensor fixed, they quoted me less than $500, but said it wasn't strictly necessary at this moment and gave me the option to get it fixed later on. I'd heard bad things about Firestone, but never imagined that anyone in customer service position would be so deceitful. I expect my being a woman had something to do with it, but maybe they treat all customers like that. Sharing this review on every platform I can think of as I'm completely disgusted by the treatment I received here. Completely amoral, giving mechanics a bad name. read more

Steve is shady and not worth your hard earned money. He states his team would threaten to leave him to barely accommodate a customer. If it's that bad....leadership quality MN ust be horrendous. When I called about status or specific reasoning on specific parts that were recommended they didn't know and had to go "check". I called and originally asked for the vin number and they didn't even have that on my file. Disorganized, incapable, and should not be in customer service. We've been bringing both my car and my girlfriends car here for years. My girlfriend needed tires so I called to schedule an appointment on 12/15/2022. I told the person I talked to that this appointment was for my girlfriends car. The person I talked to scheduled an appointment to get the tires replaced on 12/28/22. He even gave me a quote on the replacement. We dropped my girlfriends car off on 12/27/22 and used the key drop box. She called the next morning about an email about a work order to check the tires, but she was told she probably wouldn't get in that day (the day I scheduled the appointment for her). I scheduled this appointment, told them the make, model, etc. of the car, was given a quote, but two days after the appoint I scheduled for her the car has not moved, and I have not heard anything from Firestone. read more

They did 2 oil changes first with real oil, and the 2nd with synthetic oil which was expensive over $100. Without asking me, and without any indicators whatsoever, they decided to take my battery out of my car and test its viability. I was informed at payment time that I had a battery going bad and it might not start next week, and I might get caught without it starting when I needed it. I understood they said something to the effect that the amount of charge in the battery on the bench--not in my car--wasn't at peak. They presented me a $500 written estimate for a new battery. I asked if they had a problem with starting my car because I never had any problems with that and that battery had been replaced about 2 years ago and had never given me a problem starting. I didn't ask them to remove my battery from my car and bench test it as they showed me paperwork that was described as coming from that very bench test with the battery out of my car. He persisted that I might have trouble next week. The next day I took my car to another dealer who tested my battery and found nothing wrong with it. After that I worried if Firestone on Mineral Point Road in west Madison might have done something somewhere else, as I couldn't trust them now. My car certainly has many things I could replace, but I do not need to be told to replace a good battery for an extremely high price for another battery. It seems that every place I bring my car for repairs, these extremely high priced shops to begin compared to my income, but they still want to defraud me in a wide variety of ways that violates ethical principles and the laws of God. read more

I attempted to get an alignment done at this shop, they said they could not do it because my tie rods were bad. Ok. No problem I understand. However when I got my estimate to do the needed repairs I was shocked and amazed by how ridiculous the price was. The labor was high but not crazy, but the parts were literally twice the price of actual dealer parts! I would not recommend this shop to anyone. I get price mark up, but let's at least be a little reasonable. $42.99 dealer cost. $109.99 Firestone cost. Brought my car in for four new tires for 1000 dollars. Price wasn't the issue. After kicking up the car drove home and over 40 miles an hour felt like the whole car was going to shake apart. Actually pulled over on the highway to make sure wheels were tightened. Brought car back the next day as they were closed and they said it was balanced wrong but there is still a vibration due to a bent rim. Funny because the car rode like a dream before they touched it and a bent rim would have been prevalent before tire replacement if that's the cause. More prevalent with old wore tires. Ex Bmw tech who has done hundreds of sets of tires and never will a bent rim cause no issues and then you replace the tires with new ones and the car is unsafe to drive due to the shaking. Avoid this place at all cost. He spoke to me like I didn't know what I was talking about even though I was a Bmw master tech for a decade. Now I have to out this in a lift and see what they actually screwed up and are not telling me. read more

Here's the lowdown: They're like every other shop that makes you take it in the Chili Ring. They only did the bare minimum amount of work possible to align my vehicle. I know a lot about alignment, I would have done it myself if I had access to the equipment. They only adjusted the Toe-in, and reported back that the bolt which actuates the upper control arm eccentric was frozen so they couldn't make the adjustment to the caster angle. I then informed Jr. Pinhead that I have a Benzo-matic torch and can heat the bolt to loosen it, which he replied that his tech had use a torch on all the bolts. Funny thing is in the report from the equipment, all the angles were within spec that would have required heat to loosen the adjustment hardware, with the exception of the 'frozen' one. I used to work at a Firestone and I thought that lazy shit was just at my location. I was expecting this type of work from a local shop with a couple of random dopers.... not Firestone read more

I went in for an oil change and an inspection. i receive close to a thousand dollars in "recommendations." The next day, I decided to get the breaks serviced as they told me it was the most pressing issue with my car. After fixing my breaks they refused to put my tire on because they decided it was not road worthy, but for an additional 200 bucks they would fix it for me. Perhaps I would have been more understanding if : 1) This had been in the original inspection (it wasn't) 2) I hadn't had the tire looked at on several other occasions including them (twice! Once several months ago and once during inspection) 3) They hadn't decided for me what is and is not acceptable - (ask first then together we make choice). 4)They asked me to sign a new inspection ticket as if they had brought up wheels initially, smeared with capital letters and exclamations as if that would help send it back into the past. I found it so antagonizing that I decided to share the experience here. It was shady business. it made me feel like they were trapping me into spending money that I did not have. There was a better way to express their concerns, if they were legitimate. In the end, I had someone else call on my behalf because I was so confused. They get two stars because the person who called to inform me of the debacle tried to sound understanding and because my breaks seem to be in working order. With all this stress perhaps I should have gone to the dealer. Turns out they would have charged me less for my breaks. (that almost never happens) Just be careful and shop around. read more

Came here for an oil change on the weekend and an inspection. Overall, it took about 2 hours which isn't bad for a Saturday afternoon. When I returned to Firestone later that afternoon, they gave me a huge list of things wrong with the car which I knew before I came in the place. I didn't get my car completely fixed but I had a wonderful conversation with a woman named Christine who works there. She gave me so much great advice and I appreciated her honesty! If I asked a question about the car and she was unsure, she would walk through the garage to find someone who knew. I'm a happy firestone customer. After being ripped off by a small family owned auto repair shop in Madison, I was pretty leary of taking my car any where in this city. They've never pressured me to make repairs when I take my car in for an oil change or other minor services. They have made me aware of things that will need repair or recommended services, but there's no pressure to fix it immediately. I appreciate the heads up and I'm happy they respect my decision of not making repairs unless it's a safety issue. read more

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. For real this place is VERY shady and will do anything to rip you off, even if it means messing with your car so that you have to come back again. I went in there for the first time for an oil change and for them to replace my wipers. I got the oil change, and then had them order all the parts for my wipers. I called the next day and turns out they didnt even order them. But that is not even the worst part, that night i found my two front tires completely flat. They said they would have it towed there for 75 dollars then they would fix it along with my wipers. I had a friend some over and check it out who knew about cars, and he told me someone took the metal piece OUT of the air valve of my tires. Obviously they did it do to make sure i came back to spend EVEN MORE money, But after finding out they took out those metal pieces of my tires. I could have been seriously injured or even killed because they wanted to make extra cash. I find this COMPLETELY disturbing and i would never EVER go back to this place or even the company. Another reason why i knew they were being shady was everytime they said something it was something different with another technician who knew what was going on. Also, when i was on the phone about my tires, i told one of the guys that I had read all their reviews online and most of them are bad, and about the same things that happened to me. after I said that to him, my bill mysteriously changed to be lower. still I am not going back somewhere that pretty much almost threatened my life. read more

This place is such a rip off they told me my car would need over a thousand dollars of work done to fix what was still "damaged" on my car after an accident I had last year February and some parts on my car didn't get handled and properly repaired where I originally took my car so I go to firestone in madison, Wisconsin on the Eastside and they do a diagnostic quote and now all of a sudden my repairs on my car are going to cost over a $1000. Keep in mind I took my car to them weeks prior for an oil change and they quoted me how much a camber bolt kit would cost to repair my car and they told me only $275. Well to make this long story short I just took my car back home (chicago) to a place and they gave me an alignment for ONLY $55 and my car is good as knew, my steering wheel is straight again when I drive and everything so why would firestone charge me this much???? I brought my car in for an oil change and told them I had noticed that the front tires vibrated or shook at high speeds. Left the car for them to check things out. The called me to tell me I needed new tires, that there was uneven wear. I told them to put them on and do a front end allignment. When I went to pick up the car, they told me it needed ball joints and tie rods, so they did not do the allignment (said it would have been a waste of money with the bad ball joints and tie rods). When they discovered the problem with the tie rods and ball joints, they should have called me back. Took it some place else to get a second opinion. I was told Firestone should have never put new tires on the car when ball joints and tie rods were needed. I will never go back to this Firestone. read more
