6/17/2025 While on our way home to Puget Sound on our 6,000 mile road trip our air conditioner faded out. My mechanic in Port Orchard, Washington could only suggest it was the A/C relay, but baring that it would need to be brought in. I stopped by NAPA. The clerk listened and advised that, no, it was likely not the relay. I bought it anyway. My wife pointed out, two doors down from NAPA, the Midas reader board posting "We fix air conditioners today". After checking with Kevin McNeil, he set us up for an inspection , had our air conditioner recharged, and got us on our way in no time. Good friendly service! 2 weeks after I had a trusted ASE certified mechanic look at my car and tell me it was functioning properly, and NOT burning oil, I had Midas on East wash do my oil seals. less than 2000 miles later, the car lost all of its oil on the highway and killed the engine. AVOID this place unless you want to be stuck needing a new car. I called them to give them a chance to make it right and they told me my engine must have burnt up 6 quarts of oil within 1500 miles. I had an occasional rattling sound under my car that I was concerned about and wanted to get checked out. I scheduled an appointment online and the following morning the Store Manager Amber messaged me to let me know that the time I picked would not give them time to make a repair the same day if they found something. She offered another option which worked well for me. When I visited the location Amber knew exactly who I was, gave me the inspection cost upfront, and got my car right back to be inspected. After a few minutes, she called me up and took me back to see what they had found. Luckily nothing was broken and it was just a bent heat shield. She gave me her professional opinion on the options available if i wanted to get it replaced. It was a great experience and would take my car back to them any day. read more

I even made an appointment and came in just to be told she never saved my appointment and now they're booked. There is a discount tire right next door that treats you like a real customer. I chose this location because they're open earlier than most on Saturdays. I needed my car serviced and nothing in the area accommodated to my busy weekday life. Not only were they open on the weekends, but open in the morning, so I have time to take care of everything else in my day. But I have returned because of their customer service and commitment to quality work. My car feels happier whenever I leave. Well, go here if you want inconsistent pricing and condescending management. Called the Park St. location to get a quote on brakes and was quoted $150 for the front, $100 for the back. I canceled the appointment to go to this closer location and received a quote of $520 from the manager Kevin after overcharging (to which the owner Jeff Turner admitted). I used a coupon I found online to knock the price down to $470, but was still greatly overcharged on what they considered "necessary hardware." Funny thing about this hardware is that it is support accessories that I was charged more than $90 for installing. I'm not at all surprised by this after finding out that the auto techs work on commission. Bottom line - the stores don't charge consistently, and after confronting this, I was told that the less expensive store simply "got it wrong." After checking around, it's clear that Midas of Madison is not only expensive, but it isn't trustworthy. EDIT - the less expensive store was the highly rated Park Street location. read more

I took my car in to have rear brakes put in which cost $844 plus I had a battery put in. My sister who uses the car the brakes went out and she almost got hurt. I took the car back and I said what's with the car that's the brakes not working and the new manager Jennifer, who took over in November who is abstinent Not willing to work with you said that she didn't notice that the brake lines were leaking and I said well if you change the brakes and you filled the brake lines with fluid, wouldn't you know that they were leaking and she quoted me a price of 900 and some dollars to fix it now I'm an old lady and my sister is an old lady and I believe you I believe I who is paying for it Was ripped off first for the $844 and again when she quoted $944 to fix something she should've caught when she put the brakes in immediately had my car towed to a different place to have fixed and that was quoted $300 difference then what mitis had charge me since Jennifer took over Midas on E. Washington Ave. they have raised their prices and I wouldn't trust them at all and I had been going to Midas for years and so is my late husband but know that she took over no way. Be very wary of this Midas shop. read more

I received a quote to fix my VWJettas muffler for $918..Alex told me "hey thats what you get when you buy a Volkswagen. .Im in waiting room at Speedy Muffler up the street getting the repair done for $60 out the door..incredible.... Edit: Since they responded, I want to give an update of the situation, but I don't feel like this warrants a second review. I gave Midas my contact information through Yelp, along with a suggestion for the best times to contact me. They thanked me, and shortly thereafter I got a really bizarre call from a representative informing me that my case had been assigned (What was the point of this? I don't know.) I received a call a couple days later outside of my stated availability and--being at work and busy--couldn't take the call. Confession: I didn't make any superhuman attempt to return their call; I tried once after business hours and predictably didn't get a person, but I frankly just wasn't interested enough to keep trying to follow up with them. My original review follows: I don't know that I got ripped off, but I think it's fair to say I was the victim of some questionable decision making on the part of the service tech, at best. I took my car in earlier to get a low beam headlight replaced. Normally I'd take care of that myself but Ford's engineers are geniuses and in my car that requires removal of the front bumper and headlight assembly. Pain in the neck, right? I don't really have the time or the skills for that, so I left my car in the hands of Midas. I was given an estimate of around $50 for the cost of the light and a little bit of labor. Now, it's worth mentioning that around a month ago I gave a deer a love tap on accident. It ran out in front of my car, I swerved, braked, and ended up giving it a tap on the butt At the point of impact I was going 5 or 10 MPH at the most. The deer ran off and there was no apparent damage to my car. I forgot about it within a couple of days. [Full disclosure, one of the tabs on my bumper is broken off so it doesn't latch correctly and it looks like I've had a small accident. It's been like that for over a year, I don't remember the cause, and I don't care enough to replace it; bumpers on city cars often look bad and my car is getting a bit up there in age, so what do I care?] Well, I guess that deer may have got its revenge. The tech put the bulb in and apparently it blew almost instantly. Apparently, the socket was melted and needed to be replaced. Now, I'm no expert, but here's a couple of assumptions: 1. I would expect that someone trained to work on cars should be able to notice something as blatant as a melted socket pretty quickly, and recognize the potential problems that damage might create. 2. I should think that, having noticed this damage, standard operating procedure should be to alert the customer of the defect and consult with them before moving forward. I don't know about (1), but (2) definitely didn't happen. The tech replaced the light bulb, it blew, and then I was told about the problem. If they had told me before moving forward and recommended replacement of the socket, I'd have likely acquiesced and if I hadn't, I'd have no one to blame for the cost of the service except myself. As it stands now, I'm $220 poorer, and I know $40 of that, at least, is because the service tech either wasn't diligent enough or didn't think to tell me about damage. I've taken my car to several mechanics in regards to an ABS sensor failing. It's been over 2 years. All of them said I could live without my ABS and quotes astronomical prices to replace it. This past winter my car's brakes didn't hold when I got stuck on ice. Then, my car's ebrake activated on the highway. I couldn't turn it off. Nearly got in an accident. I took it to Midas, and they did a thorough search on the car. It turns out the system was failing because it couldn't talk to the ABS and my brake fluid was murky. They replaced the sensor and I couldn't be happier. read more

My 2007 Honda Odyssey had rear brakes that were beginning to make some noise. I dropped it off at the E. Wash location and was told they'd check it out and possibly be able to fix the problem the same day. They did not have a ride service to drop me off at work, so I rode the bus for 30 minutes. While at work, they called and told me I needed new rear rotors and pads and it would cost $395. Sounded high, but I didn't really know what it should cost. I asked if they had any deals or coupons and I was told to check their website. They said they'd honor a coupon if I brought it in. I told them to go ahead with the work. I checked their website and found two coupons which appeared to apply.. One was for $30 off $300+ of service. The other was for up to $100 off a brake job, I think it was actually $50 off each axle. So I thought they'd honor the $50 off coupon. I printed both and took them with me as I left work. After my bus ride back, I forgot to present the coupons and instead paid the full price. It was only after I arrived home that I realized my error and by then the shop was closed. So the next day I stopped in just after they opened. I wanted to see if they'd refund me the $30 or $50 by crediting my card. I was told that their computer system doesn't allow them to go back and make changes after the transaction is complete. I find this to be a line of crap. What if they had undercharged me? I think they'd find a way to revise that charge. This would be the most primitive point of sale computer system on the planet if that were true. So they offered me one free oil change. I asked for two, considering the $50 value of the coupon. Nope, all they could do was one free oil change. As it stands, I doubt I'll even use it. I don't really want to give them any more business and I wish I had checked this profile before going there at all. Looks like my experience is not unique. read more

Beware here that Justin and/or his manager Dave rips off with parts markup. Only sign off after looking at detail estimate. I did not and was charged $181.99 for a $81.99 NAPA wheel bearing assembly. Over 220% markup not American and who knows what it does to the sales tax "they" pay? Don't fall for the just like Best Buy story. Good mechanics anyway, just crooked pricing! read more

I have never been so poorly treated by any business, ever. After my car was sideswiped while parked, Midas East completed $500 in repairs without authorization from me or from my insurance company. They chalked it up to a miscommunication. Honestly, I could have let this slide. Mistakes happen, and my insurance agreed to cover the costs anyway. No harm, no foul. However, what pushed me to write this review was their customer service even in the face of such an enormous error on their part. From the beginning, they treated me as though I were lying about what happened to my car, or too stupid to notice that I'd hit something myself. Additionally, when there was a discrepancy ($600 worth of discrepancy) between two quotes for work between Midas East and Midas West, I was told I must be remembering incorrectly, or perhaps they had been referring to a different part of the vehicle and I misunderstood. I know little about auto mechanics, which I'm sure was clear to the folks at Midas. In turn, they made it clear that this fact apparently renders me incapable not only of operating a vehicle, but also of following basic conversations about servicing a vehicle. I will not be returning to any Midas location ever again. read more

Full disclosure: I understand the nature of Midas warranties and that they need to be honored only at Midas locations. My main point is the lack in basic customer service which I would say is not worth taking your car in. Recently at an oil change, Midas caught a leak significant to warrant dropping a lot of money into a repair. The service was fast, and the rep was helpful enough through it all. It was fine. The parts and labor came with a year warranty only at Midas locations. Less than three months later, one of the newly put in parts broke or became faulty with no outstanding circumstances to cause it, in turn causing me to need a long tow and more work done (circumstantially is was very stressful). Additionally the situation brought up another issue in my car that also needed to be fixed. I did not take it into Midas because the tow was closer, and because I trust my mechanic more. After the second repair, I wanted to let Midas know what happened, thinking they would care. Kind of wondering if they would offer something for the situation, but never really assuming they would honor the warranty given the circumstances. I explained what had happened and what my mechanic had claimed was likely a cheap part (not midas' fault per say, just that it's generally a cheaply made part, but in my mind, why would something 3 months old need repair without something major causing damage..) the rep on the phone, merely eking an apology, had little to say other than my warranty was not covered. No questions about my experience or what may have happened, no empathy or understanding, just mostly silence. Didn't even ask who I was or about the original repair. I was appalled that they had no care about the follow up to work they had done. I got the impression they didn't trust me enough to care if what I was saying was true or investigate at all into the issue, which I would assume would be basic customer service. If that is truly their perspective, bunched up into transactional warranties lacking genuine care for the work they do, I would not get any significant service done there. There are far better (and without a doubt cheaper) places out there who truly care about their work. Don't go to Midas. read more

I was driving from Mpls to Chicago to pick up my son from school and take him home for the holidays. My car started to make a noise and it seemed to have a "slipping" in the drive. I had stopped at a Cadillac dealer in Wisconsin Dells and they told me they could get me in tomorrow. I need to get going and drove on to Midas on Washington Avenue , David Key, Store Manager. The were busy, I explained my situation, they pulled the car in right away, diagnosed the problem and fixed it at a reasonable price. They could not have been kinder to a mom travelling by herself . I would recommend this shop to everyone. read more

After over $500 repair needed for braking, I was told they had missed a problem when first looking at my car. An additional part/labor would be required. However, I was told it would be okay for some time. But as soon as I test drove my car, it was worse than when I took it in. I had to take it back the next day. I then had to pay over $300 for the additional part and the additional time/labor needed because they would need start the repair all over again. read more

We've been to Midas a few times now. First time we went there was when our car had overheated due to a Jiffy Lube blunder. They fixed that and also noticed other useful issues (we'd changed a dead battery over a year ago during winter and the guy who replaced that one had used a similar but not proper model etc.) Their work appears to be top quality. They are not condescending at all but courteous.. Each time we had major repairs done there they would take us to the nearby mall to wait there instead, then bring us back when the work was done. This is something not many places do and we appreciate it. As some other reviewers have stated, they can charge above average. This is indeed (for me) the only problem and the reason they do not get five stars. Also (like most mechanics) they will try to 'sell' you services you do not need as urgently as they make it (this has also happened with us). However, our experience shows that whatever they set out to do they will do it properly. For this reason, we go to this one as we trust them a lot more. read more

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I took my car here for a check engine light and only to find out the what was wrong. The car is kind of a junker so if it was going to be super expensive, I was not going to fix it. 45 min later the guy (Dave I think) comes out and tells me a bunch of things wrong with my car... windshield wiper blades, oil change, air filter, tires... over $2,000 worth of recommendations. My boyfriend had just changed the windshield wiper blades THREE DAYS before this guy tried to sell me some for $40, changed the oil 2 weeks before, and had new tires put on just a few months before. The man was very demeaning in a way that made it clear that he thought I was a stupid woman who could be talked into any repairs. What a terrible place. What terrible service. These people are the ultimate liars here. Go anywhere else besides here if you'd like to be treated with honesty and respect. read more
