My daughter took her Ford Taurus in for an oil change. At the end of service the tech could not get the hood to close. Another tech came over and said "just slam it really hard", which he did. I later looked at the car and the hood was notably out of alignment. Upon opening the hood the first thing I noticed was that the cap for coolant reservoir was sitting next to the tank as was not put back on. This was holding the hood up. She called back to the location and spoke to the Manager, he said she can come back and he will "top it off" I had told her to demand a full system flush. The manager said he can't offer that without seeing it, and seemed very disinterested. He never asked her for her name, invoice number or specifics, nor did he offer to schedule. Noting here that VIOC address concerns by asking you to contact the care team. I sat on hold for 15 mins twice and their system dropped me. I then used the chat feature and was able to file a claim. I was told local management would call within two days, but usually sooner. I asked for an area/district manager or higher leadership since the local manger was already dismissive. UPDATE - They have contacted me on the claim and they are flushing the system and refunding the initial service. This is the resolution I was expecting. read more

Honestly, a terrible experience. The service took way too long. I was there for almost two hours and there weren't that many cars there. The workers seemed to be fumbling around like they weren't quite sure what they were doing. My car was running pretty good before I got my oil changed and now it has a check engine light and needs a $4,600 repair on the multiair actuator. I was told to send my supporting documents to their claims but the manager Ralph called me late at night to tell me he was denying the claim even before I submitted the paperwork stating that because I had a mechanic look at it to evaluate the damages instead of Valvoline, he wasn't going to accept any responsibility. I don't think this will go very well in court. You are putting yourself at risk by going to Valvoline. I see multiple other reviews of people having major issues after taking their car to the Gammon location in particular. read more

My car tires were low on air. I needed to get air but the station where I usually go has air pumps that fail when the temperature is below freezing. It was 7pm so I tried my local Valvoline where I always go for my car 's regular oil change. They are only open till 7p but the auto technician Tae was already closing for the night. Not only did he stay and fill all 4 of my tires, but he was kind and considerate. I call that good customer service. He should be praised for his kindness. read more

I took my truck to this Valvoline in late May, for an oil change. In mid-August, while driving, my dashboard suddenly said the engine oil level was low, and to stop the car immediately. My truck died less than a minute later in the middle of the street. I was not at my 3000 miles threshold and never saw any leaks or warning signs, before then. My truck was towed to a local auto repair shop in Madison that has over 35 years of experience and is staffed by certified mechanics. The mechanics stated that my oil filter gasket was not installed tight enough. It held out for a while, slowly loosened, and when the pressure was too great, it burst off and immediately drained my oil. They informed me that my engine was dead and that whoever completed the last oil change was responsible. The mechanics added that the gasket came off too easily for Valvoline not to be responsible. I took pics under my hood when the tow truck driver contacted by my insurance arrived. The mechanics also took pics as soon as they diagnosed my vehicle. I called Valvoline and was treated rudely by the manager there. He stated that my oil change happened too long ago for Valvoline to be at fault. I filed a complaint with their corporate office I had to go on the corporate website and request assistance through the chat function. I was eventually given a claim number and was told an Area Manager would contact me. He did so and went to the mechanic to inspect the vehicle later that day. The garage said he was there only a few minutes, did a quick 5-minute inspection, didn't ask questions, and took the gasket with him when he left. The same Area Manager ignored emails and phones from me and the garage regarding the process of the investigation. The Area Manager eventually contacted me after I made a complaint and he gave the same excuse that the store manager did when they were initially contacted. He didn't respond to the evidence in the pics nor did he provide any detailed explanations why my claim was denied. He just stated they weren't at fault because of the time frame. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and Valvoline just recycled the same excuse and didn't look into the matter further. No other individual or business has serviced this vehicle since the oil change at Valvoline. No additional factors, explanations, or rationale were shared by Valvoline, in their responses. Finally, they did not address any of the physical proof, pictures, and condition of the filter. Learn from my mistake and don't risk your vehicle at this shop or at any of the company's other sites. Just schedule an oil change ahead of time by contacting a dealership or a certified auto repair shop. Your vehicle deserves better than the trashy professionalism and sketchy ethics exhibited by this company. If I would have checked their reviews online from different sites first, I could have known to avoid this business altogether. Finally, ignore the 5 star reviews that are posted on here every time after they get a negative one. read more

Save your time and money and avoid this place at all costs! I had been taking my vehicles to Valvoline for years, then I started having problems. The first was the wrong oil. They admittedly used a standard oil in my Volvo when it was supposed to be a European blend. It was documented in my file that if I had transmission problems going forward, they would be responsible. I now have my doubts that they would stand behind that after my latest trip. In October, my service tech failed to put all the screws back in my under-vehicle skid plate. After countless calls with corporate and calls and texts that have gone unanswered by the local manager, I would seriously doubt that this ever gets straightened out! read more

Stopped in for a simple oil change, long story short, it took six days to get my car back and working. When they pressure you to put on a serpentine belt, or anything serious, just say no. Had to have it done at Midas at their cost. There were over a dozen problems I could list with communication, covid distancing, expertise, pricing, professionalism...but this place was the original shit show rodeo. The manager I worked with the night before didn't show the next morning, didn't tell people I was coming, nobody had keys to the building, they opened 40 minutes late. My car was there for over 8 hours total over two days, before being towed to Midas. Once the regional manager got involved, things got handled. They said they will give me my money back. read more

I had no issues whatsoever with this location. They did everything I needed them to do which was just a simple oil change. It took 15 min while I sat in my car, they filled tires and fluids as well. I had a $20 coupon and accepted it, great customer service throughout. I rated it a 5 because they were not pushy about other fixes I may have needed, they made suggestions and when I told them no they quickly went along with the process. Basically, a straight forward oil change, nothing over the top which is exactly what I was looking for. read more

Do not go to this Valvoline location under any circumstances. They appear to have some sort of time quota that they need to meet which means they hurry through your oil change and don't do a good job. Typically my boyfriend does the maintenance on my car, however we were in a time crunch and needed the oil changed before a big trip. 2 weeks after my oil change at this Valvoline location, I had my boyfriend look at my car and he quickly realized that they "forgot" to put an o-ring in after they changed my oil- which is a very costly mistake. My car was nearly out of oil by the time we figured out what happened. Forgetting to put an o-ring in after change the oil filter is like forgetting the peanut butter on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. There are much better and cheaper places to get your oil changed in Madison. Don't risk it! It could end up costing you a fortune in repairing your car! Absolute worst car service experience!! I went to Valvoline for a simple oil change. While there, they suggested that I replace the filter; I mentioned that last time they did not have the filter in stock, but if they had it I would like it replaced. The manager boasted about how he must not have been working that time, because even if they didn't have it he would've picked up the filter for me himself since it would take only about 15 minutes. I said that would be fine, I would wait for it. I was waiting there for 2 HOURS in total for this filter. They completed my oil change. As I turn my car on, the engine light comes on. I ask if this is normal, and the guy says no and plugs it in to the diagnostic tool. Then the light turns off, he says everything is fine and I can go on my way. A few days later the light is back and I notice that my car is leaking from below. I bring it into another shop and they tell me it's my oil. The guy who did my oil change at Valvoline never put the the cap/stem to my oil reservoir back on!! So oil has been splashing out for the entire week! AND the service engine light that had turned on right away after the oil change was indicating the problem, but Valvoline instructed me to ignore it. Replacing the parts and fixing this mess cost me an extra $220. The careless negligence from this Valvoline staff was unbelievable, ESPECIALLY for a manger!! read more

When I arrived I told the CSR, Cyrus, that I wanted the basic oil 5w20. He said that the manufacturer requires maxlife 0w20. I told him I am aware of what the manufacturer recommends and that I still wanted the basic oil. He ignored my request and still had the guys put in maxlife 0w20. While I was getting the oil change he was off at the center console receiving and sending snapchats as I could hear his phone dinging with notifications. When he told me the total was almost $70 I asked what oil he used and he said maxlife. I told him that I had already asked him to use the basic oil. Instead of apologizing he had an attitude and threw a $20 discount on my invoice and said to me "I'm not going to let you destroy this car". I'm really offended he said that because I have a 2010 Toyota Camry with 79,000 miles and I have never had any major issues with it. Your "customer service representative" needs training on the basics of customer service. I was not greeted, I was not listened to, I was not apologized to, and I was not thanked by him. His poor behavior and bad attitude has turned my business away. I will add that Vaughan was professional and he thanked me for my business as I pulled out of the building. read more

I got an oil change yesterday & it went fine. I think it took a bit longer than it has in the past but still only took about 30 minutes. For my synthetic blend oil it cost sixty something but I got a military discount which was nice. I wish I know about the discount before though. The mechanics working were nice too. read more

Pulled in the other day for a standard oil change. Both bays were full, yet the staff came out and explained to me the wait. No prob. When it went even longer due to a added service by one of the vehicles in the bay, they got right out and let me know. Again, no prob. Appreciate it. Then, they began to in process me before I got in the garage and started a light check. They were on it. After looking at the dipstick, the lead tech explained to me that I did not need an oil change and showed me the oil. It was still in good condition and since I was at 3k miles, it REALLY wasn't needed. My choice, but the advice was not to worry about it. Went to get my oil changed, and nobody knew what they were doing. the "manager" didn't even believe that my 1992 Crown Vic had a rear differential. I also told them to grease the fittings in the front end, they never did all the while telling me they did. I asked them to check the rear diff for fluid level, and that was never done either, again while telling me they had done it. They take forever to get cars done, since they only work on one car at a time. What's the point of having a two car garage if you're only going to work on one at a time? Having worked at a Valvoline for about 7-8yrs myself, it's really painful to see these kids having no idea what they're doing to peoples cars. read more

They did a diff flush. Immediately after my diff starting howling and ended up going out a couple weeks later. Had to get it completely replaced and cost $3500. Valvoline didn't cover any of it and ignored calls from me. Nothing wrong with the diff before the flush. Fluid came out fine and I was just doing routine maintenance. Don't go here read more

My oil change took over 45 minutes. They serviced three cars in the other bay while I waited in my car inside the garage with the hood up. They would start on my car, then stop and go work on someone else's car, finish it and come back. Why should I wait 45 minutes on a routine oil change? There was nothing unusual about my car or the service I was requesting. I am unimpressed, and found the customer service unacceptable. They didnt bother to apologize or give any explanation either. I wont go back, and I will just pray that nothing is screwed up on my car now. read more

Darn fast most of tsecond time here because they are so darn fast and send me updates and reminders right to my snail mail box. Nothing like good ol fashion marketing. What is also nice is that even though they have to ask you if you'd like service (eg transmission flush, new air filters, ect) they don't PUSH push or make up bull chitz that your vehicle will collapse or break down if you do not get the radiator flush. That's nice. Nothing like moseying in and moseying out. The last placewant to waste your time off at is an auto shop. There's also a girl that works there who is phenominal at what she does. Even wiped the inside of my dash and windshield. She would NOT except a tip from me but who is to say that i didn't just throw it out the car window and say "you deserved it". She rocked and that was extra special of her to go above and beyond. She even let me know where I can go to get nitrogen air other than costco for my tires. read more
