I had the oil changed here and the splash guard under the car was not secured properly. On a trip to Ohio soon after the car started scraping -- the same as one other reviewer. Since then we've had to remove parts that are falling off and need to schedule service to get it replaced. If not for this I would have said I received quick and efficient service. read more

If you like condescending tones and unwillingness to provide basic customer service then this is the store for you. I was denied service because the new store manager Shaq had his big ego hurt when I asked to order some tires. His response is they don't sell them. However I literally purchased the same tire there 1 year ago for a different truck. We're talking a two thousand dollar purchase. After over 10 years of doing business there we will no longer go there for service. There is no saving this store from their egos and attitudes. I had my oil changed here, the next day my check engine light is on and they "had nothing to do with it" and wanted to charge me $113 for a diagnosis. I went to my local garage and he told me it's likely because they checked the air filter and it needs a new one hence the check engine light. I didn't ask for them to look at anything other than my oil change...Always go to a local garage! Too expensive and they try to upsell and find problems which is the issue with chain places. I hate having to write reviews like this, but... Recently I took my car to Firestone for some routine maintenance services. After picking up my car I suspected that some of the work was not done, so I brought it to an independent mechanic to be looked at, and he was able to confirm that at east three services I was charged for were not done. Two items definitely were done, the others could not be determined. I went back to Firestone and questioned them and they attributed this to a "miscommunication", so take that for what it's worth. If you're like me you're a bit skeptical about people handling your car, especially since I don't know much about how it works, so I can't really tell if I'm getting ripped off or not. I got a routine oil change from Firestone, and it went without a hitch. It was finished in about 90 minutes, and I was helped out by a very friendly clerk named Mark. However, I am a bit more confident since my car is fairly new, (2015 Rav4) so I did not expect to have any big issues. If you're wondering, the mechanic that handled my car was Nate, so hopefully that offers a bit of comfort if you see he's the guy handling your vehicle! The location of the Firestone is OK as well, since you can walk 10 minutes over to the local plaza and do some shopping at Stop & Shop to pick up some groceries, or get a haircut at Great Clips. read more

Had an appointment and was told it would take 2 hrs. was asked what time I needed it done by. In the moment I was thrown off by comment. Never been to Firestone before and when I have appointments with my mechanics they say when it'll be done. I said I didn't have a time. 4.5 hrs later I called and they said that my pick up time was 6pm because I didn't specify I time. Called to put in a complaint with customer serve. The guy who helped me was great. I ended up getting a discount but feel that I was taken advantage of so these guys could pick up walks in. This is why I try not to go with corporations. Will not go there again. Purchased 4 tires. Work was not completed in stated time frame. Wheels not balanced correctly. When I went back to have them fix it they confirmed they were not balanced correctly but then charged me to re-balance them. When I asked the service advisor why I was being charged for their error he was rude and disrespectful. After a brief argument I allowed them to charge me just so I could get out of there. My wheels are still not balanced correctly but I'd rather deal with my car shaking than have to go back there again. read more

My daughter was stranded on the Mass Pike and was towed to this place to get the car repaired. The estimate for a radiator repair was over $900. The part cost was $120-170, so I figure they were charging for an entire day to put it in. I called around and had it towed to another place and paid $400. It was fixed in an hour. The purpose of this place is just to rip people off who are stranded. they thought they could do that to a young girl. Avoid this place unless you would like to pay double and not know if the work was done correctly. The other repair shop tested the engine block first to make sure she was not wasting money. Firestone did not. Go to Gregs Auto Repair to be treated fairly. read more

Well, the guy I spoke to on the phone just said "bring it in," and it was hard to get info about how long it would take or how much it would cost. It was only a clutch slave cylinder, one of the easiest things a mechanic can do, and the price was over $400! and it was $99 for the "diagnostic," which we used to call putting it up on the rack to see where the leak is. I had gone on youtube and it looked like less than an hour with a $30 part. But they had my $99 and it was raining... they did it quick and that was good. I just drove it home, and it seems fixed just fine, but... Wow! on the price. Prepare to get ripped off with a smile. read more

Disappointed with my last few visits. The customer service has been dropping recently and I was pretty put off when the guy at the desk implied I was probably at fault for my check engine light coming on, since I hadn't gotten their suggested tune up a week prior (I'd gotten a tune-up in the last year and since I haven't driven far in months it would definitely be unnecessary). Turns out the tune-up had nothing to do with my busted catalytic converter, which they somehow missed the last two visits (one of which included a major diagnostic) I'd had at this place in the last 3 weeks. I've been coming to this Firestone for a while but I'm not going to be back anytime soon. Hard to believe they missed so much in such a short window of time. read more

I am incredibly uncomfortable leaving negative reviews (as most dislikes tend to be pretty subjective, in my view), but I'm afraid that my experience here requires it. The first time I came here, I was given free windshield wiper fluid and the dudes were really friendly and helpful. I decided to go back to get my oil changed and check up on my car. Again, everyone was perfectly nice, but I was shocked when they came back with a huge list of necessary repairs! I literally don't have the money to do that, so I asked for a printout (with the order of necessity marked) and left. Upon further inspection, I saw that they marked my car as having 200,000 more miles on it than it does. I'd like to think it was a mistake, but considering the way that these places make money (and my obvious lack of automotive knowledge), I'm not so sure. That's a pretty dirty con, in my book. Plus, how much labor is needed to attach new windshield wipers?? The charge for that seemed excessive. read more

Reflecting on my experiences with Northampton Firestone last year: Last April I got a set of four tires for my son's 09 Honda. The car was dirty with greasy fingerprints and all all tires needed air pressure adjusted. One bead leaked... I broke, cleaned and resealed it. It was just easier to fix it, and clean it myself... but I got my new tires... I should have known better... in the summer I bought another set of tires for my other son's 07 Volvo. After first trying to sell me tires I did not want. I finally got my tires mounted and balanced. Again, I got it back with dirty prints and incorrect pressure. I scrubbed the wheels and adjusted air pressure at home. I find a broken centercap, which the 'tech' clearly knew he just cracked. Should have asked them to replace, but did it myself for $20. ... I had my new tires... I was a service tech for over a decade... ASE certified in suspension, steering, brakes. (Which I never mentioned to NFS) I've mounted and balanced countless sets of tires. I'm in another business now. I don't have the necessary equipment in my own garage, so I am forced to find a shop to trust for a simple set of tires mounted when I need them. Northampton Firestone is NOT that shop. I will spare you all of the more petty details about how I was treated and spoken to. In November, I really should have known better....... D Hamlett is a slick liar. Again, I simply wanted four tires mounted and balanced. This time On my super clean Ram pickup with 45k or so on it... First, Hamlett spent 25 minutes trying to talk me out of the tires I chose. He tried to steer me into a promotion by telling me my choice was not available. He persisted, and actually tried to conspire with me to rip off his own company by buying a promotional set of tires, and then agreeing to give me the set I want within 30 days, after I received $100. rebate, under the satisfaction guarantee! Slimy... (no, I don't really believe he ever intended to do the swap) I should have walked out then, but I wanted a new set of Bridgestone Duelers. Finally, magically, the tires I wanted were available. I returned the next morning to get them mounted and balanced, and an inspection. I'll also note that every single time I was painfully pressured to pay for an alignment, which I did not want, or need. When I told Hamlett I did not need an alignment on my truck, he smugly asked, 'How do you know?" I waited four hours. First, Ugh... Hamlett tried to convince me that I almost did not pass inspection because of a worn ball joint. Ha! (Lie!) I kept a straight face and said I should bring to the dealer under warranty then? He replied that they prob wouldn't replace it cuz it's 'not that bad yet'. The slimy just seems automatic at this point. Next, Hamlett tried to charge me 150, or so, for road hazard, which we never discussed, and I did not want or agree to. I always decline road hazard protection, when offered. After making dumb excuses, he finally removed the charge. Once again, my fenders, wheels, etc were all greasy. Blue still on my raised white letters. As I drove away my TPS sensor was blinking. Once again, these incompetents can't even handle proper tire pressure! I went home, adjusted my tire pressure and scrubbed my truck. I had my new tires... It was then that I noticed the Frest Ugly DENT in my wheel. (See image) NOTE: my wheels are super clean and in new condition. I went back. Hamlett was not there. I spoke to a pleasant fellow who apologized that this happened, noted that I was there, and asked me to return to see D Hamlett on Tues. In the meantime, I drove to work on 91 and it was vibrating like mad at highway speed. (It was indisputably incompetent balancing, and was later easily corrected at another shop) Hamlett turned into a smug fool, defiantly refusing to acknowledge responsibility and negotiate satisfaction. He flat out refused to replace my wheel (in new condition) with a new one ...three times. He finally drove me to threaten a small claim and walk. He finally agreed to provide a new oem wheel. I wouldn't allow FS to work on my vehicle any further. In a sarcastic and hostile tone D Hamlett suggested I go to the Town Fair Tire ship across the street, and see how I'm treated there. The dealer went out of their way to get the new wheel Hamlet provided to me swapped for another, because that new Mopar wheel turned out to be damaged in the box... so, in the end, I got my damaged wheel replace with a new one, which Hamlett should have done in the first place. Hamlett made one comment that was inadvertently revealing when he picked an argument with me. He said, "I've been dealing with angry customers for years." I believe that Dan. When I picked up my new wheel Hamlett had written a snide note on the recpt. Look at attached image and see that the dent clearly could not be farther away from 'half way up the spoke'... and what is 'typical' tire mounting damage, Dan? Slimy liar. read more

Had a 130 appointment for an oil change. It has been over an hour and the truck still had not been touched. It took 30 minutes for someone to drive it into a bay, and it has been sitting untouched for another 30. What is the point of an appointment if it isn't even remotely kept? Was ok, now TERRIBLE, AND UNSAFE! 1) Tire pressure monitor somehow goes bad? $99 to fix? No. 2) I go in for oil change/tire rotation and they are talking about how slow it is. I get duped into front struts, due to "age". NO mention of leaking. 3) Changeover of snow to other tires. They didn't balance properly. Car shakes. I have to lose time from work to get fixed. "Of course we're not going to charge you." Really? What about a credit for my time/lost work? 4) While selling me other stuff, didn't point out bad rotors earlier. Had replaced elsewhere. 5) Friend's employee in the last month or so got 4 new tires. They didn`t tighten lug nuts on one wheel. Would not go again. Went a few weeks back to get a state inspection sticker and an oil change since they were the only local place to where I was that could do both. Read the reviews online and had been to other firestones before and had good luck so I thought this would be a trustworthy spot to go check out. I checked in the morning and left my car. A few hours later I got a call back saying that my car could not pass the inspection for a few various "safety hazards". One in which being my driver's side seatbelt was twisted and the person on the phone said they would need to remove the bolt and take about an hour to fix the whole thing, quoting me at $145 to fix a twisted seatbelt. Also said my wipers were bad among other things that I recently had replaced and knew were in fine working condition. I agreed to just have the oil change completed and when I got back I went into my car, immediately fixed the seatbelt by rotating it back a few times and magically saved myself more than a few bucks. The oil change typically comes with topping off all fluids in which my windshield wiper fluid and coolant were running low when I checked later. Disappointed to see this happen and especially being a young woman, this is what causes so much distrust in mechanics. I'm not an idiot and I don't appreciate being treated as such. You should look into the kind of business you are running and not scam or upsell your customers what they don't need. Never coming here again. read more

Terrible, just brought my car there for a third in the past 4 days, total of about 9 hours between the three visits to still not get an inspection sticker. They keep saying the machine is down after having my car for most of the day and so I go back and the same thing happens the next day. Last summer my friend and I ventured up to Northampton to pick something up at Smith Voke. His truck began leaking fluid onto the passenger side floorboards, and being concerned we pulled into Firestone. Without much of a wait one of the staff pulled the truck into one of the bays and immediately knew what was up. Condensation had built up due to the running of the AC and the port that the condensation leaks out of was plugged up with dirt. They drained the water and sent us on our way at no cost. I haven't seen that kind of treatment from a "chain" service center EVER! Thanks Firestone! read more

My husband and I have been Northampton Firestone customers for close to 28 years. On more than one occasion, I have found myself in an "automotive jam" - they have fit me in and put me back on the road on the same day. The service department is friendly, competent and knowledgeable. The mechanics are the best we have used. If there is ever a problem, they fix it. The waiting area is clean and comfortable... We can't say enough about this hard working team. We have trusted them for all these years...that says it all! read more

Worst tires and service i've ever had! I purchase $600 tires for my Prius and have been back in for balancing and leaking every 1-3 weeks! Manager here is rude and disrespectful and continuously snapped his fingers in my face multiple times when I would try and talk, in order to cut me off. DO NOT BUY TiRES HERE unless you like weekly to monthly visits and horribly rude managers!!! read more

My daughter, a new driver, came in for an oil change. After they were done with her, the bill was over $500 for work that may have been unnecessary, like coolant service and fuel system cleaning. I brought my truck in for a tire rotation and shortly after that to diagnose a noise coming from the wheel/axle. They rotated the tires but couldn't diagnose the noise -- said there was nothing wrong. I brought it somewhere else, and within 15mins (and without removing any wheels) they found the 4x4 vacuum hub on front passenger side was randomly locking up while driving and causing noise/vibration. When I went to replace the vacuum hub with manual locking hubs this weekend, I noticed that my lug nuts were all mismatched. One was longer than the rest and not even fully threaded on, yet I couldn't spin it more than 1-2 threads in either direction on or off (stripped/cold-welded on). One was a completely different size (3/4 vs 13/16). That's only 2 wheels. I haven't even looked at the other 2 wheels yet. I immediately called Firestone, since they were the last ones to remove the wheels. They completely denied any wrongdoing and said it "wasn't possible" that they did it. They even said it would've had to have been "intentional" to do it. I 100% believe it was intentional then. Which is why this is a bigger issue than just a 1-star Yelp review. read more

Came at the end of the day and they told me to show up the next morning and be first in line. I appreciate that. However, during an oil change elsewhere my car had been okayed for inspection as they had replaced a tail light for me. The next day at the inspection here, two small tail lights had to be replaced for a total of $66. This was about twice the price of the inspection itself, but I was told it had to be done for it to pass, despite them not being major lights. It was explained as being often overlooked. They gave me the option of paying today and getting it done elsewhere, but that would mean another trip and I was in a time crunch. I was displeased with the price, it seemed to me like a way to make money. The staff noticed my hesitation and was nice enough to show me the lights lit up, but when they showed me the dead lights they didn't actually light up the other tail lights so I didn't fully see them burned out, just them working again. Still felt kinda scammed. Aside from that the staff was very friendly and personable, despite the lady in the waiting room with me that was giving them a hard time about the guys not wearing masks. My car smelled of cleaner when I got in it so I know they were otherwise following protocol and they were staying the proper distance. Masks don't filter out small virus particles anyway, so that part didn't bother me. Was disappointed with the overall price tag. It totaled to $106 instead of $35. read more

The store here in Northampton is outstanding. Best example: I needed to remove frozen bolts to get my new plates. They got it done in 15 minutes and below their estimated cost. Can't beat that. I came to the store to have a tune up and to see if there was anything to explain a sound, flat tire and feeling off on my car. The chairs were comfortable and spaced apart appropriately; the people working were wearing masks and shields. When I was walked through my invoice, each item was described to the best of his ability. When asked to see and have explained the issues they noted on the invoice they were happy to. Taking me out to my car and showing me what the issues were, was assurance that they knew what they were doing. read more

I would give Firestone of Northampton a no star rating if it were possible. Made an 11:00 appointment for an oil leak and oil change on a 2008 Toyota Highlander with 159,000 miles on her. Three hours later they called and asked us to pick up the car as they were not interested on working on it? "It's too much work to find where the oil leak is coming from". When I inquired why I couldn't pay them to find the oil leak I was told "It's got too many miles on it and I'm not putting people to work on an old car" I asked him if that was Firestone policy or just his opinion, he doubled down on his reasons. When asked for his name, he stated his name was Dan the manager. When I asked him for his last name, he refused and directed me to take a Firestone card. Brought the car to Jiffy Lube in Hadley and within 15 minutes they identified a faulty hose and had it repaired in an hour and a half! As a school teacher and part time Uber driver that both carry discount deals through the MTA and Uber perks I don't recommend any of its employees to go to Firestone in Northampton. Don't ever come here for an inspection! They'll screw you over big time! They Failed me for an upper ball joint, my father, who works on cars, looked it over and nothing was even wrong with the upper ball joint! They quoted $230 dollars to repair something that wasn't even broken to begin with! We went back and they reinspected it and it passed. Not qualified to handle even the simplest of tasks. Had appointment to switch to snow tires (on rims, each tire with its own sensor). One hour wait time became 2 hours. Late for next appointment, I drove off with yellow warning for incorrect tire pressure on, but no more time to ask why. My fault, I was told, for not telling them about the sensors. (I did, when I made appointment, and I wasn't asked when I handed over the keys, but didn't know tires with sensors were unusual.) The shop's only solution: Make another 1-hour appointment (which takes 2 hours) to reset the sensors, which takes perhaps 5 minutes. Add in my 1 hr. RT commute to/from shop, and changing to snows on rims will have taken 6 hours, but I will NEVER AGAIN turn my car over to these incompetents. read more

Normally I'd service my vehicles myself, but I've been too busy lately and instead decided to bring my car to a service center. After I dumped my last mechanic for lying about having inspected and cleaned a part he obviously hadn't, I thought I'd give one of the local franchises a go. Brought my vehicle in for issues with the exhaust, suspension, and to check for a suspected oil leak. Left and they said they couldn't fix the exhaust, there were no problems with the suspension, that it needed all new brakes, and there was no oil leak but they changed the oil. After some back and forth, maybe it didn't need new rotors but it did need new pads. Definitely needed new pads, like within the next 100 miles or so they claimed. Well, it actually does have an oil leak, the brakes weren't so far gone as suggested, and it does have a problem with the suspension. So my $120 got me an oil change and not much else? Perhaps the technician didn't actually drive the vehicle or know what to look for, but I'll probably keep looking for a reliable shop to take my vehicles. read more
