AVOID AVOID I Went here for a full brake service and a full vehicle inspection along with oil change and tire rotation, Total of $1400 . 3 days of driving and the car locked up due to brake failure and lines being broken. Went to another shop to fix that cost around $400 Still haven't heard a word from firestone regarding the situation or what they exactly " fixed " , shows the incompetence of the store. One month later check engine light comes on, hoses on radiator were messed up, spark plugs were bad Thermostat was bad. $3400 dollar bill. It seems even when paying for a full vehicle inspection that they still didn't even complete that. So my question is what did I pay 1400? I've used this Firestone for the past several years and I've been very happy with their service. Staff is professional and my car was always serviced well. However..... ....I booked an appointment online for 10am today (Fri 12.27)....arrived about 10 minutes early....walked in....wound up requiring a diagnostic...OK, I said....then went to waiting area with my book and coffee....he said diagnostic would take a couple of hours. At 12:03pm I went to the desk to check on status....he tells me that they HAVEN'T STARTED YET since they have a "...couple of cars that need to be finished...." Are you kidding me?? I asked him what was the point of booking an appointment if they didn't honor it. Just said "I'm sorry..." I believe my time is valuable also so bad planning on their part does not constitute my having to wait over 2 hours just to get my car in the work area past my booking time. Took it back was told to come early morning Saturday I was turned away then told to come for my appointment Sunday. Sunday picked up my car hood of my car was open and tire pressure sensor still on. Firestone Oak Lawn - I would not risk going here. I went in to get new tires and they ended up damaging my rim. Even though I took before and after pictures, they took absolutely NO responsibility for the damage. They tried saying curb rash which was a total joke as the the damage was caused by their pry bar. (This was confirmed by experts). Over $700 in damages on my rim. They just lost a 30 year loyal customer and yes I am telling everyone I know not to go there. I was told "yeah no problem come on in at any time" I show up 5 minutes later and they say "I'll be out of there within the hour. 1.5ths later I'm told it will be at least another 1/2hr before they even look at it. Brought car in for new tires. They called me to tell me I needed an oil change...just had oil changed 1 month ago and told me I needed a new battery. Decided to call the dealer where I have all my work done, just had rear brakes 2 weeks ago. Dealer looked up my car and said I didn't need my oil changed and my battery is fine. Firestone also charged $110.00 for wheel alignment. I thought it would be included so the 100.00 they gave me off for the sale they just took back. From now on I will go to the car dealer!! I was told my tire needed to be replaced when all I needed was a tire repair due to a nail puncture. I was told that there was damage to the thread on the inner side of the tire, but no nail was mentioned! They wanted me to pay $388 for the new tire plus labor, I didn't . I instead I took my car to another tire repair shop where they showed me the nail and how there was no issue with any other part of the tire. $20 fix at G & S tire repair shop. read more

I made an appointment for new tires showing the service writer which ones I wanted, on the day of my appointment I was told that those tires didn't fit my car and I had to choose another tire. Originally I was told this would take 1 - 2 hrs. it took 4 hrs. Before leaving I wanted to make sure that the tire pressure sensor had been reset, I was told by the service writer that the mechanic said the tires would balance themselves as I drove. I knew this was incorrect, I have owned the car for 5 years and have tires rotated every 6,000 miles and they always set the tire monitor with a hand help machine and have to walk around the car to do this. I also noted that the tires were 37 pounds, 2 at 33 pounds, and one at 34 pounds. I called the next day customer service and was asked if I would like to bring it back and it would be fixed. The only item they did was inflate all the tires to 35 pounds as factory specs. the mechanic still told me I didn't know what I was talking about. However, it is on the owner's service manual, Google, and well as Youtube. I like the tires but I don't like to service. Now I have to find a new place to have my tires rotated and the sensors set correctly. read more

I took in my car for wheel alignment and to get tires balanced. I was told they cannot do alignment because old shims not installed on new front end suspension. My response was it's in for an alignment that's what need to be performed. Even if I reinstall old shims how would you correct toe and camber? that is part of an alignment. Their response we can't do it. I go pick vehicle up and they didn't even get wheel balanced. They performed non of the services they offer or I wanted. If you need an alignment or tires balanced they can't do it. Take it somewhere professional that knows what they are doing and can perform services offered. read more

I was driving local errands and my low tire pressure warning light on dash went on. I kept driving just thinking my tire was low. After about 1 hour of running errands I looked and saw it was REALLY low. I found a place that aired them up but by then my side walls were deteriorated (from driving on them low) so I knew I needed to replace it but since tires 5 years old and another one has sidewall damage might as well replace them all. Called up Hiram (General Manager) at this location bypassing the one on 95th Western for horrible service and told him my situation. He asked what the year make and model and I told him I wanted premium tires (normally I get the cheap ones). He said he had 4 Bridgestone Ecopia 422 (fuel efficient) in stock yet the tires on my car from factory were Michelin Energy Savers and he said the Bridgestone's were comparable but he could order the Michelin's if wanted. I went home did the online research and the Bridgestone's had good reviews and actually cost less so I told him I would be in next morning at opening because I needed the car by 12pm. Of course I wanted an alignment with new tires and Firestone is the only repair facility I know that will give you lifetime alignments for less than the price of 2. Maintaining proper alignment is crucial for even tire wear for this pot hole city we commute in. I dropped car off late at 7:30am and he said they will try to have it ready by then. I made arrangements to drive my wife's car but at 10:40 I got email that car was ready. I picked car up and soon as I drove off lot noticed the tires did ride better than what I have been driving on. The bonus is that he priced matched from local competitor so I got tires professionally installed fast at a GREAT price supporting a local business (esp crucial during COVID)!!! My appointment was at 3pm and it is now 5:58pm and I'm still waiting. I come here now because the one on 95th & Western has gone way down in service. Hiram is my guy. I will not come here if he is not on site. I read the other reviews but I can only go from my experience. Like I said I only come when he is present. I get the service I want and need. It is sometimes a little more expensive depending on what it is but I will pay "a little " more for the service. So far oil changes and tires has been the most I have been willing to swing. I am fair though I will give Hiriam a shot if he is fair and convenient. I will also send my mom and sister here because i know he will do right by them. I brought my car to this location because I was having some issues with it, I brought it in, for 80 dollars I had everything checked out. In the end of everything there were 3 things they wanted to do which would of cost 1900 dollars!!! I went to pick up my car because I couldn't afford it, gave me my bill with all the "recommendations" and didn't explain anything they wanted me to get done which would've cost 1900. So I brought it somewhere else for a 2nd opinion, 2 of the 3 had to be done. The 3rd item didn't, as well as for a full checkup they should've mentioned. My brakes which were down to nothing which I should've gotten on my full report, Luckily the 2nd place I brought it to told me about it. For pads and the 2 other things done which woulda cost me around 1500, that price was literally cut In half!!! Firestone charges waaaay too much for their work, if you know what's good for you, go to other places for quotes and work done on your vehicles!!!! read more

This is the second time going to Firestone and not receiving a oil change. The first time I was told they were completely book ( mind you there are no customers inside or parked outside). Now I made a reservation, the excuse is someone ( an employee that failed to do their job ) didn't confirm my reservation. This is the reason I made a reservation to not have problems. I went in for a nail in tire. Man told me it would take 1 1/2 hrs. I left vehicle and walked home, and called back an hour n 40 min later. The boss said I was next on lift. I gave them another hour, and walked back up 2 :40 after dropping off. Still where I parked it, with totally flat tire. I spoke w manager, told him their time estimates are b.s. Now pushing 3 hrs after I dropped off my jeep. I went next door to get lunch, after lunch, they finally started work on tire. Simple job, small screw in tire. The worker did a fine job fixing. My problem is they could of said they can't get to me for 3 hrs, I would 've gone somewhere else. They also could of apologized for the excessive time, and knocked off 25%. My first impression was amazing! Eddie was very helpful and explained the process very well. I needed 2 tires changed, a wheel and an alignment. As far as I can tell, the work was done great! But there was one detail that made me give them only 2 stars. I got my car back and it reeked of weed. (I do not smoke weed nor does anyone that enters my car.) It was unbearable. I had to buy a scent fogger and the smell is still not out. It is pretty embarrassing that whenever someone enters my car they asked why it smells like weed. If it wasn't for the weed smell when my car was returned, Firestone would have gotten a 5 star review. read more

Just had 4 tires installed and alignment. Very poor customer service from the store manager named Hiriam. Charges were added to my bill for a CVI that I was never quoted a price for. They tried adding $10.00 extra for the alignment till I showed them the Firestone website price. If any one goes here please get everything in a quote beforehand. And then take a second to look over your bill very thoroughly. The manager and counter people will double talk when asked questions about your bill. I called the store in Oak Lawn, IL. To set inquire about the warranty status on tires I bought from them back in 2010. I spoke with "Bill" who sounded annoyed by questions. I heard from other people, independently, that they all said the same about "Bill" who is known as the manager. I also heard that the local police and fire department will not go there to get they're personal vehicles serviced!!! It also seems that the employee turn over is constant! After talking with him over the phone with my car issues, he reassured me that he and his team will take care of it and me. I didn't feel pressured, he explained to me in great detail and showed me the problem and potential future problems. The cost was reasonable. I would definitely now recommend this Firestone. In the past, the service was ok, but I always felt like Ive been bamboozled, so I stopped going there.
