I had never been into this Firestone in my life until disaster struck today. I was driving home from work in Arcadia and my car started to overheat. I made it to the Pep Boys on Colorado and they weren't able to help me because they didn't have any mechanics around (it was already 6:30 on a Tuesday). The lady at the front counter pointed to Firestone across the way and told me to try them. At first it didn't look good there either, as they were closing at 7:00, but as I was talking to the gentleman at the front counter, a mechanic named Avo overheard me. He followed me out to my car and started poking around to see if he could find the radiator leak that had caused the car to overheat. He worked on it for several minutes. Then another mechanic, Race, came over and started discussing how all the the different components of the cooling system worked. They looked here, they looked there; they tried this, they tried that. Bottom line is they pressurized it and Avo found the leak. He then got the car up on a jack and fixed the clamp that hadn't been put back correctly on a hose the last time the car was serviced. By now it was 7:40 and these mechanics and the gentleman at the front desk were staying overtime to help me get this problem solved. They were extremely helpful, patient, and conscientious. I had to be out to teach at UCLA at 8:30 the next morning, so if my car wasn't fixed right then and there, I would have had to take buses and trains to get to Westwood from Pasadena. They really saved my skin. I was shocked at the time and care they took to help me out even after the garage was closed. I'm going to be real here: I've been to several Firestone in the U.S......Some are good and some are real bad and Its like that with other chain business. However, FS in Pasadena is point on blank professional with me and kept up with my appointment on-line which many other mechanic shops struggle to do and I receive a new Master cylinder Brakes. FS is not cheap, but not too expensive as many people want you to believe, but when the mechanics work, they get to work right away with your auto......My father been a client for FS since we moved out here in the West Coast for over 11 years and we never had a bad experience......This mechanic business is 10x's better than the Pep "phoney" Boys across the street on Colorado BLVD!! read more

Meant to write this review yesterday -- anyway, I first went across the street to Pep Boys because my tire pressure light was on. I just wanted someone to help me fill my tires with air, and to remove the exclamation point signal that was turned on in my car. I don't know how to do that. The Pep Boys guy basically told me to read my car manual and it would show me how to do it. I was annoyed and left. The guy didn't seem like he wanted to help, so I went across the street to Firestone. The manager at Firestone was busy, but was friendly and didn't have a problem with my request. He told me to pull my car up to the second station where a mechanic kindly took care of my problem, free of charge. It wasn't a big deal to them and I really appreciate their service. Once I'm ready to get new tires, I'll be coming here. Customer Service goes a long way, and I'd rather give my service to businesses who make me feel welcomed and appreciated. read more

If I could rate this place negative stars I would!!!! I I took my flat tire in to be repaired. The didn't have the tire in stock. They would have to order it. Not a big deal except I live an hour and a half South. So I left and when I get to my Firestone near me, they tell me that the rim was left at the other location. So, when the employees in Pasadena put the tire in my car, they didn't include the rim. I called the place and instead of making it simple for me, since it was THERE SCREW UP, I was told they called me and left messages( neither of which was listed in my VM or my call log) and if I had answered the phone, we wouldn't be in this predicament. ALSO, I was told i would have to drive back - a 3 hr venture with no traffic, to get the rim because it would be expensive to mail it to Huntington Beach. SO I wasted about 4 hours( Traffic in LA was a mess) on my day off, had to find a ride, pay a friend gas money for this trip, to convienence them- which was expensive to me. i came here for my alignment about a year ago, and i never went back. i have the lifetime alignment, so i went in to get my car adjusted. the man at the counter also tacked on a full inspection, which was eighteen bucks so i didnt mind the add-on. but then the add-ons continued - he kept telling me i needed new products, such as tires, windshield wipers, and more things under my hood ... i have a couple friends who work on cars, so i was going to get it confirmed before dropping the quote of $1,200 that day. the man was very adamant, i declined but then he asked me what tires i would hypothetically get; then he gave me a quote. again, i told him i was not interested. he urged me to get the services rendered, but i had already made up my mind. he was soo pushy! before i left, i called a friend for some advice and asked him to meet me at my place. fifteen minutes later, my friend meets me at my house. when he popped open the hood, he saw that firestone didnt fasten the air filter back into my car. my friend said that if my car would have driven fine until i sucked up a rock, then i wouldve been screwed. i was dumbfounded and livid! people like that salesmen give firestone a bad name - i will never go back to that location...im not sure if i want to continue with firestone at all! read more

I went in for an oil change and they of course did the mandatory inspection and I already knew that I needed tires but didn't plan on buying any that day and not from them. I walked off with my husband to the rite-aid down the street and I get a call from the manager asking me to come back. He shows me my car up on the lift and the back left tire looks fine from the outside but the steel threads are completely showing on the inside of the tire, he told me he really didn't advise that I drive off like that. They were super nice when I told them I didn't have the money for all 4 new tires and he worked out a deal for me. He wasn't pushy I didn't feel ripped off like they were just trying to get business. I bought 2 rear that day and came back the next Friday for the 2 front and even did lifetime alignment there. I've been coming back for my oil changes etc ever since. Absolutely awful! Scam artists! Evil, trying to take advantage of women! I came here for an alignment on my only day off, giving them a couple hours to get it done while I go to the hairdresser a few blocks away. When I came back, they still hadn't even looked at my car. Angry at the wasted time, I spoke to the manager who apologized and said they'd look at it right away. .. And then told me the car was unsafe to drive, needed $700 worth of stuff done and it was SO unsafe I should have it TOWED out of there if I didn't have the repairs done. (Inner and outer tie rods and 4 new tires). He was pretty dramatic about it and pretended to be genuinely worried for my safety. He saidthat mytie could fall off at any moment and that i would lose complete control of the steering as well. It really freaked me out so I called my mechanic who said don't worry, your car is not unsafe, yes, you need tie rods but that's it, nothing will happen. (My mechanic was out of town so I couldn't see him that day). So I went to a mechanic right by my house who was honest and confirmed what my mechanic said and did the work for $200, after which the car was perfect. read more

Oh where do I start! Came here to get an oil change and while I was here, I decided to ask them to check my breaks (since they were making noise). What a mistake! I ended up paying $75 for an oil change! That has been the most i have ever paid for it. Then they had given me a list of what was "recommended". They told me that i needed new disc break pads, bleed the break fluid and replace the fluid. All that for $400 give or take! I didnt do my breaks there. I wasn't paying that much for breaks. They also told me that i needed to replace my motor mounts for $1,470! So i decided to take the car to a different shop, they checked my breaks and they were fine! Which they should be since I had just bought the car 6 months ago! All my car needed was for the breaks to be cleaned out and be adjusted! This company is just out to drain your pocket and they just threw cusfomer service out the window! Talking about customer service, the front clerk and mechanics completely ignored me for the first 5 minutes that I was there. I should have taken that as a sign. I am sticking to the other place that does my oil change for $35 including a car wash. read more

I got a promotion deal for oil change awhile ago. Went there and was tricked to buy the 'LIFETIME" alignment and rotation deal for $199. The thing the guy failed to mention was, you have to have your original (manufacture) tires or buy new tires from them in order to continue getting the lifetime free alignment / rotation services with them. Recently I had two of my original front tires replaced somewhere else for a lot less. Still have two original tires left. Soon I will have to replace them as well. I told this gentleman the guy that sold me the deal didn't tell me that at all. Otherwise, I would not have buy the deal. Not worth it! read more

My experiences at this Firestone location have been great. I started with my oil changes a few years ago and was always happy with the customer service. I ended up needing new brakes and an alignment last time I went to the Honda dealership, but the dealership wanted a absurd amount for both. I priced out everything at multiple service shops and found that Firestone would be my best option. I'll be honest, I was hesitant to go anywhere worse other than the dealership because I baby my car but I wasn't about to fork out the amount of money Honda wanted. So I took the dive and Firestone did a great job! I ended up doing the lifetime alignment service which allows me to have unlimited alignments for life for the price of only 2 alignments. When the going rate for alignments is $90, being able to have unlimited alignments is a great value! They had a promo for the lifetime alignments for $175. Great deal! Now to the brakes. I wasn't sure how the Wagner brakes they use would be, but I couldn't be happier. They perform very well and if not better than stock actually. And to make it better, they gave me a discount to do rear brakes for $130...that's $100 cheaper than than the dealership. Firestone was great and they were upfront about the amount of wear on my rotors as well. Long story short, great service and great prices. Jennifer was extremely helpful. read more

I must say, this place is the best for auto repair. As a woman I am always concerned about getting ripped off by auto repair shops. This place in particular, this location, is amazing. They are respectful of your time. I am able to make an appointment unlike the pep boys across the street. Even when I have come by needing work without an appointment I never waited too long. Once my AC was broken and they fixed it, but something else went wrong with the AC a day or so later and they took it back and fixed the new problem for free. I have never felt talked down to and I've never felt that they charged me for things I don't need or try to sell me on things that I don't need. In fact, the office it has been true, where they have not charged me for things they should have. If you want honest and reliable and courteous work on your cars, come to this location. I am not vouching for any of the other locations, especially not the one in La Cañada. I have been put off many times by the people there, and have always gone back to the Pasadena location. read more

I purchased tires here a year or so ago and have since returned for flat/damaged tire and some miscellaneous things. My experience has been that each and every person is knowledgeable and courteous: George, Saul, Carlos, John. I've both made appointments for work and, sometimes, just dropped in for a sudden problem/concern. Either way, they attend to my car as quickly as possible. As other reviewers have mentioned, these guys are really good about explaining what's going on in lay terms and answer all the stupid questions we auto-challenged people have. With an upcoming road trip, I took my car in to Pasadena Firestone to make sure it was in good working order for the long drive ahead of me. Firestone of Pasadena checked the entire car and found that my 2006 Nissan needed a lot of maintenance work from replacing rear breaks & a leaking power steering hose to a full on tune up with new spark plugs. They told me the items that needed to be taken care of straight away and listed the other things that could be repaired later in order of priority. I decided to take care of everything at once. With the amount of work that I was having done, and the time that it would take to fix everything, they offered me a rental car at no cost to me! I was so surprised and completely pleased by the level of customer service! My car was repaired in time for my road trip. All was well. I drove up the coast and while driving at highway speeds I found that the car shook every time that I would break. I called them while on my trip and Ava was very helpful and said to bring my car in right when I got back in to town & they would take care of it. Upon my return, I took the car in again and they said that one of the rotors on the front breaks was warped. I guess it was warped when I originally brought it in the first time and since I only needed the rear breaks replaced they missed the warping on the front rotor the first time around. Also, they don't typically test-drive the cars on freeways after they do the repairs. They usually test-drive the cars on surface streets only, so they did not catch that the car shook when breaking at higher speeds. They apologized that they missed this and offered to replace the front breaks at no cost to me. One of the guys there even gave me a ride home so they could keep my car over night. From Ava, the service advisor at the front desk, to Edgar, the technician, to the lovely gentleman who gave me a ride home, the customer service at Firestone Pasadena was above and beyond! read more

It's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic--unless you know cars, it feels a bit like hoping the alligators don't eat you! Firestone, though, has become my go-to location for any service needs because of their fantastic customer service. I feel secure knowing I'm not being taken advantage of and that the advice I am given is legitimate rather than a ploy for more money. They've always been pretty good, but recently this location has taken things to a whole new level that has 100% won me over from ever going anywhere else and it's all because of Carlos. My husband usually changes the oil in our cars, but through a series of random events we had it done at Pep Boys (nearly directly across the street) last time around. When it was time to change it this time, my husband couldn't remove a drain plug he needed to because it had been over-tightened. He called Pep Boys and they refused to just loosen the piece saying they were too busy. (I'm no "car person" but I assume loosening a piece should take, oh, 30 seconds.) So, my husband called Firestone and explained the issue. They wound up changing the oil for only the cost of the labor since we already had materials and worked us into their busy schedule unlike their competitor. This is only one example of how they've gone far out of their way to help lately. When we just had the tires rotated, balanced and aligned on both cars earlier today, Carlos one again came to the rescue. Although we had an appointment, they were busy and he did the work himself to get us in-and-out without an extra long Sunday morning wait. I trust that the work they do at Firestone is necessary and comes at a fair price. The facility is clean and the customer service is as good as it gets. I had a very bad experience at this store. On November 5, 2016, I had my car's alternator replaced, paying over $800. Today, I took my car to an independent air conditioning shop nearby because the a/c was not working. They discovered that several connections and fuses behind the radiator had been disconnected and not properly re-connected. This occurred during the process of changing out the old alternator. I did not discover the problem earlier because the a/c was not used for the entire winter. Firestone's negligence cost me $180. read more

This place is a total sh*t show. There was one manager who rocked, but since he has left, the customer service and communication in that shop has gone to the dogs. Every SINGLE time I have gotten service done there, it has ended up costing significantly more than initially quoted, I end up waiting significantly longer than I was told I'd have to wait, and they almost always forget to check something that I've asked them to check. This last time I went in, I had asked them both in person and on the phone to check the weather seal on my windshield. I left the car with them overnight for a diagnostic as well, so I figured they had plenty of time to simply, you know, check the f*cking seal. They didn't, so I had to drive back after picking up my car and have them look at it again (or perhaps for the first time despite repeatedly asking about it). Through the lobby window, I see front desk girl wrangle two mechanics (who are visibly irritated) over to my car where they proceed to poke to seal a couple times and shrug. Front desk girl comes in and says I need to get it replaced at a body shop and that the best the could do would be to glue it in. So, not only did they fail to do what I had asked them to, when I called them on their error, they made no attempts to rectify the situation. If I had accepted their shoddy solution, I'm sure they would have charged me for the glue and I'd be waiting for two hours only to find that they glued up the wrong side of the windshield! While that sounds funny, I'm actually serious about that. In general, it seems like no one there really knows what the f*ck is going on. After giving this place several opportunities to redeem itself, I am officially done-skies. If you actually care about your time and money, take your car somewhere else. read more

To keep it short and simple, I paid for an oil change and didn't get one. I also asked them to put air in my tires and they didn't. Several days after I took my car in to get serviced, OnStar alerted me that my oil was low and that my tire pressure was low. I won't be going back to this location. read more

i brought in my 2012 toyota for an Uber inspection. my car passed, but they notified me that the car needs a new battery and new shocks. they quoted me $600 in repairs! i took it to my personal mechanic and he said that Firestone was full of sh*t! my battery tested at 14volts, which my mechanic explained and showed me is very good condition! he also said my car is too new to be needing shocks and struts so soon! always get a second opinion when it comes to suggested repairs! i only came here because it was required by Uber, but now i know for sure i am staying away from these guys! read more

Not being from the area I was a little bit hesitant about just walking into the door of a business I did not know. I called ahead and talked with both Jim and Robert. Both were very courteous people and very helpful. Jim is the person we ended up working with. I had stopped in town to see my son on my way home from having cancer treatment. His brakes needed work immediately and I wanted to know when I went home that his car was restored and safe. I expressed to Jim concerns I had and the desire to get to the most important things and not go over budget. Money was an issue. Jim was very kind and jumped in to help us work through and get the situation fixed. He was professional, compassionate and very very helpful. My son's car was repaired better than I had hoped and Jim worked to be our advocate in decision making that would make our dollars work to the best for the safety advantage on my son's car. I left this business with renewed hope in auto repair facilities and peace knowing my son's car was safe again. You never know what you are going to get when you walk through the doors of an unknown business. If there are negative yelp reviews, I think every business has days where things don't go perfectly. It is a world where that happens everywhere we go. But, for me, what I experienced at this Firestone, I would walk back into their business again, and I would recommend it to anyone and not think twice about it.
