I would absolutely trust my car and its care to Kyle and team simply by the way that they do business. Last November, my car died and I had it towed to be diagnosed. Turned out it was a total loss so I needed to junk the car. However there were some title snafus that took 6-8 weeks to work out with the DMV - and I wasn't able to get my car out of there until quite recently. They neither charged me for looking at the car to diagnose the issue nor did they ever try to charge me for the over 2 month period where they allowed me to leave my car on their property or insist that I have it towed. Having a car die and needing to purchase a replacement is a stressful event and Kyle and team were so kind and patient. You are going to laugh at this one. I took my daughters car in to the Firestone in South Elgin Illinois last Monday. Her HID headlamp was out so they changed the bulb and it still didn't work. They charged me $160. Then they hooked up a scanner and said it was the headlight ballast. They ordered one and I went in today to have it installed. I asked Scott the store manager that if they replace the ballast and it still doesn't work are you going to charge me for the new ballast and install fees and he said yes. read more

Seems like giving customers estimates on unnecessary repairs is common. Came in for an oil change and when it was done, they told me I should get my ball joints serviced ASAP as they would fail. Told me that there was a lot of play and movement on the wheel. Gave me a quote of around $300. I took my car to a mechanic and told me my ball joints were fine. That there was no excessive play. If you do take your car for an oil change and they give you estimates for additional repairs, take it to another shop and ask for their opinion. I guess it makes sense now of why they would offer a free car inspection. read more

I wanted to get my tires replaced on my 2006 Hyundai Sonata and found a set on Firestone Website. I ask for a quote of the tires (PW VALERA TOURING II 225/50R17 94V BL) and booked an appointment with them with specific instructions that I will be hanging around until my services where done. 1. I drive from my place at Dekalb and reach the service center at 06:00 PM and the manager tells me he cannot honor the appointment because they had accepted the appointment on the pretext that I would be dropping my car off meaning my so called specific instructions were ignored. 2. They wanted to reschedule my appointment to the next day and then they tell me that they don't have stock of the tires I required. Why would you guys even schedule an appointment if you don't have enough technicians and if you don't have the stocks of parts that the customer wants. You guys made me drive 30 miles from Dekalb, only for me to return empty handed just because of staff negligence. I ain't recommending anyone to this sorry excuse for a service center. read more

Previously I bought tires for my daughter's car over a year ago without any issue(s). My how things change in a short period of time. I scheduled an 11am appointment for new tires on my vehicle and brought it in at the appointed time. Then I get to hear a customer complain about how loud his new tires are, and that Firestone manager never followed up with him and he finally wanted something done. All I wanted to do was drop my vehicle off and leave it. Finally someone came to wait on me, but still the customer was arguing with the other Firestone guy who didn't know what to do. This was a premonition I had not expected. By 4PM I called to find out the status of my vehicle and they had not gotten to it. I told them I would be over to pick it up in 10 minutes. I would give this store, in particular its manager, 0 star if I could. I made an appointment online for a wheel alignment at 11:00AM on Friday. I dropped off the car at 10:50AM. At 5:00PM, I still did not hear from the store, so I called and was told they were working on the car. At 6:55PM, 5 minutes before the closing time, I called again and were told they had not worked on the car, so the car would need to stay in the shop overnight, but they would work on it first thing in the morning, they assured me, and it should be done by 8 or 9:00AM. 8:30AM the next day, Saturday, I called to check on the status of the car and was told they needed more time to work on the car. I asked if they could give me an estimate when I could pick up the car, the guy, who turned out to be the manager, kept repeating that he could not tell me when the work would be done. I said just give me an estimate so that I would have an idea, the answer was still "I don't know," "I cannot tell you how long it will take." He also told me that my car had some problem with the tie rods, and there would be two choices, either he would replace the rods, which costs $600, and for that he could get the job done within three hours or he would just work on the wheel alignment but not knowing when that would be done. I have never heard such an unprofessional answer from an auto repair shop, let alone a supposedly reputable one like Firestone. I told him in that case, I would go picking up the car right away. When I came in, he handed me an "invoice" listing the "recommended services" for the tie rods that would cost $721 and the statement that "Recommended Services not Authorized by Customer." So, now it appeared that the job was not done because I did not authorize the work, which was totally bogus. The reason I took the car back was because the guy refused to give me a time estimate after the car had been in the shop for almost 24 hours, plus the disrespectful tone that he talked to me over the phone. I then brought the car to the Mavis Tires & Brakes in Geneva, IL, where they got the wheel alignment done for me within 2 hours even without an appointment. The Mavis Tires & Brakes also did not find anything wrong with the tie rods of my car; it was just a simple wheel alignment for $103. So, I got the worse experience with car services at this Firestone store. Stay away. read more

Went to price tires for my Toyota Tundra. On the side of the building they list two brands in particular, Firestone and BFGoodrich. When I told the clerk what we were looking for, and gave him the dimensions on my truck (285 65r18) I was told they do not carry low profile tires, in a manner usually reserved for a maitre d working at a french restaurant requiring tie and jacket. Good, that's not what I was looking for. He told me they can not even order that low of a profile tire. I pointed to the truck, a four door CrewMax with a 2 inch lift, hardly something low profile and he said that they don't make tires that size. This became all that much more interesting when I went closer to home to a tire dealer that carries BFGoodrich and they had at least three different brands, including BFGoodrich, that came in that size. Sorry guys, you just lost over $1500 in business at the very least. read more

I have brought other vehicles here before and never had that much of an issue, until today. I brought my '86 Mercedes 190e here for a replacement of the fuel pump, accumulator, and check valve. As well as some other minor work. Keep in mind to replace the fuel items mentioned previously, it is a very staging forward repair and the parts are very easily accessed from the underside of the car. When they called with the quote, the parts alone were a 70% markup from the cost directly from Mercedes Benz (which is literally two blocks away). 70%!!!! The labor was somewhat reasonable $480. Parts were $1972! Actual parts cost (verified by Mercedes) roughly $1200. $700 markup. I asked them about different part sources knowing the parts donor cost that much and the answer was "we don't do that." I asked if I could bring parts, "we don't allow that. We have to make money". I'm all for a company making money, but 70% markup is ridiculous. So, they lost the business and another shop who offered a reasonable quote is getting it. read more

On the way home from work, I suddenly saw smoke billowing from the engine of my van. I pulled over and figured out there wasn't actually a fire. I assumed there was a radiator leak somewhere but really had no idea. Anyway, it was 7pm on a Friday night and I had a big weekend trip planned. Unfortunately, every mechanic around was closed including this one. However, This shop answered the phone and the manager, Mo, said he would ask his mechanic, Tim, if he would stay. They both ended up staying and both worked on the car. A part was needed from a dealer but it was too late for delivery. Tim got in his car and went to pick it up himself. It was a 2 hour labor job, but because both worked on it they only charged me one. They stayed until 10pm and my car was ready for the weekend. In 3 hours I went from panicked to very grateful. Went in here for some replacement winter tires on my Subaru. They were knowledgeable and courteous. The tires I needed had to be special ordered from the local distribution hub and schedule to arrive in 1 day. We scheduled the appt, they honored the time slot and I was out in no time! An alignment when you get your tires done is offered at a special price but I couldn't wait for that service, so they even promised (in writing) to honor that special price at a later time. All in all I'm happy! A family member took their Fleet Car here as well and they were also treated with honesty and respect. I can say that I fully recommend this Firestone. read more

Staff at this location are very honest and professional. I go extra miles just to get all my vehicles serviced. Unlike the in Elgin!!! I had a blow out the other day and I took it to Elgin location. I was told I will have to pay $200 even with my warranty due to wear and tear. I took the same tire to St Charles location and they charged me $50 plus some fee. This is not the first time they tried to rip me off but each time I take my car to St Charles location for the same issue they always charge me a lot less than Elgin location. read more

They are supposedly "all season tires" yet we have had the same problem twice, with the seal of the tire exploding when temps go below 20 degrees. Happened today. Rep at Firestone said the tires are fine, no recall or defect, (in other words, it's our fault) proceeded to speak with the manager who was at his home and same B.S. answer. No offer for at least one free tire, not even a discount offered for our trouble that now requires a tow truck. DO NOT TRUST THESE HACKS. Total scam shop. Brought 2 vehicles in for an oil chang and they claim all my control arms and ball joints are failed. I went to Just Tires afterwards and they inspected and actually took the time to show me they were fine. This shows Firestone employees and management at this location is just trying to sell unnecessary parts and labor. They also used an impact wrench to tighten my oil drain bolt and completely over tightened it. A bunch of lazy scrubs that can't even do a proper oil change but they want to replace my suspension? Sunday 12-11-2018 Had a flat tire on my trailer. Found the rubber valve stem was cracked. Called Firestone spoke to Brian and told him what I had and asked if I brought the wheel in if they could simply replace my valve stem. He said no problem. Took the wheel off and drove over. Brian looked at my wheel and said corporate policy states they cannot work on tires that small? I told him I was kind of in a jam because I had sold the trailer and some one was actually coming to pick it up. He would not replace the valve stem. I asked if he could break the bead on the tire so I could replace the valve stem myself and again he said "corporate policy" precludes him from servicing a tire that small? The tire is a normal size and not what I would refer to as small. I left pretty pissed off and drove across the street to Pep Boys. I was there for about 5 minutes and left with the tire repaired. THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE! I have worked as a dealership service manager for 18 years , owned my own repair shop for 8 years so I very familiar with automotive repair shops. Its sad that good customer service is so hard to find. Pep Boys will get all my tire business moving forward. Because of my previous positions I get a lot of people asking me for referrals and I will be sure to let them know of the poor customer service I received at Firestone of St Charles. Nice Job Brian!
