St, Charles location I brought my vehicle in for a simple oil change on a Monday and didn't get it back until Friday. During the process, the manager called to say my car needed additional work and quoted me $2,092 -- which I agreed to. When I went to pick up my vehicle , the total was over $2,900. When I questioned the price difference, I was told they would "pull the call" to prove I agreed to it -- but I know I never did. On top of that, the free tire rotation discount plus discount oil change for $49.99 that was supposed to be included with my oil change never showed up anywhere on the invoice. Nothing about the pricing or discounts added up. The whole experience felt shady and misleading, and it's made me lose trust in this location. I won't be getting any major work done here again unless I have the full quote in writing beforehand. I'm sharing this so others can be aware before doing business here. read more

I was charge nearly $2000 for an exhaust job the should have cost a fraction of that amount. They damaged the new exhaust during installation and said nothing until i found it myself upon inspection after the fact. True, they did correct the problem, but would thy have ever told me it was there on their own? I had the car, the job was "done". I now have to pay to have the job completed someplace else. The exhaust was left hanging loose on one side and is banging around against the gas tank. read more

I took my noisy exhaust in for an estimate assuming it would be disastrously expensive. Turns out I never went anywhere else. After about 20 mins with the car tech Adam said I could spend $700+ and get all new stuff or they could weld me up / patch me up for under $200. I went with the $184 fix. I live close and planned on walking home while they did the work. Instead I got a door-to-door ride home from another technician, Tyler. About 90 minutes later the work was done. The manager, Mike, answered the phone when I called. I was just looking to get an oil change. When I went into the business the guy seemed fine for the most part. I asked how long he thought it would be. He said he'd take care of me which didn't answer my question. I asked again and he said they have a couple cars ahead. There were two people in the waiting room and one left shorty after I spoke with Mike. There were also three people in the manager's office including Mike. I waited 35 minutes before they even brought the car in. The service was so so. They were slow on business. It annoyed me that Mike danced around the question. However, something I appreciated was not being sold a bill of goods. The two items he mentioned were legitimate and I was aware of them from previous mechanics. read more

Took two vehicles in for oil changes. The good news is that they were able to take care of both vehicles while I waited. The bad news is that something went wrong with the oil change on my Audi Q5 and much of the oil ended up on my garage floor, in the parking lot where my wife works, and all over the engine compartment. I brought the car back the next day, since it had "Minimum" showing on the diagnostic screen. I had to take a 1/2 day off of work, not happy about that. The store cleaned the engine compartment up, but I spent about an hour scrubbing my garage floor. I was only able to clean about 90% of the stain up, oil was already absorbed into the concrete. The store Manager was not in, but customer service guy said he would call me the next day...of course he never did. I really expect some type of accomodation for the mess and inconvenience...like a free oil change the next time? This is my only bad experience at this location in 7-8 years, so I will come here again and hopefully they'll be more careful in the future. read more

I have been a customer of this business since my car was out of warranty, approximately 2009. It's old, but fixing it is cheaper than buying a new car. Over the last few years, I have averaged about $1500/year at this shop. I didn't know the business had been sold. When I called, the new manager would not give me an estimate over the phone. Mike, the manager who is no longer there, always did. The new manager told me I could bring it in, and they would charge $79 to give me an estimate. I took my business elsewhere. The new shop has earned my business. Midas lost it. I suggest the owners reconsider how they deal with long-time customers before you lose more of us. read more

I've used this location for many years and have referred friends, but it was sold last year to an independent owner and I can see a difference in the way customers are treated. I'll never come back here again. I took my car here to have the rear brakes replaced. They were under warranty, but Andreas (the manager) said he looked through my paperwork and found the invoice for my service done in 2017 but said the Naperville office failed to put the warranty number down so he couldn't honor the brake pad warranty. I asked him if he could check a Midas database for the info he needed and he said his computers don't link that way. (I call BS) He also wanted to charge me $45 in labor to replace the bulb in my rear tail-light. I've watched it done before and it takes all of 2 minutes to do that task. So, no thanks. He gave me a $30 discount on the service, acting like he was doing me a big favor when really I think he was hoping to pocket the difference. When I got home that evening, I collected all my paperwork I leave in the glovebox regarding warrantied service and found the warranty number with no problem. Went back to demand my money back for the pads and Andreas offered me $30. Again, no. I know how much the part costs, you owe me $X plus tax. He finally refunded my money but looked like a little boy caught in a lie the entire time. The mechanics here do a good job, but be prepared to get ripped off by Andreas. It's such a shame that a place I trusted tried to rip me off. Take your car to the Naperville location instead. They're honest over there. read more

I was in St. Charles for the weekend to see my father in the hospital and late Saturday morning my car had a spring break and take out my tire as well. I called around and was lucky to find Mike at Midas. He helped me find a towing company, took great care of my car and even had his guys stay over a bit to get my car done before they closed. Had he not, I would have had to miss another day of work to get the car repaired, extending an already stressful weekend. The guys at Midas gave me great service, weren't out to repair stuff that wasn't necessary, and were pleasant to work with. I couldn't ask for more from an auto repair shop. Second time I have been here. I know a lot about cars and so I generally know when someone is trying to pull a fast one. Having said that these guys are great. Honest about what they can and cannot be done. I recently was quoted $1800 by another shop to replace a Y pipe that didn't need to be replaced. I went to Midas to get a second opinion on my way home. They showed me where the noise was coming from and all they needed was to make 2 cuts and weld a small piece of pipe in - something the other shop strangely said couldn't be done. Less than $150 out the door. He also showed me where the next section of pipe was going to fail and when that happens they could easily fix that section too without replacing the entire pipe that only Nissan sells for $1300. I own 5 cars and will start using these guys more often. read more

I scheduled my appointment earlier in the week for Saturday first thing in the morning. I had a list of stuff I wanted them to go through, and 2 very simple easy things I wanted to get done. They said they could do it. They didn't get my car out untill 40 minutes before they closed, and had got NOTHING done on my car. In fact, the front bumper mount was snapped off from them. the dude, slammed my bumper back into place right in front of me without even looking into it. I also had a light dangling from my car. I called earlier in the week and they said they could get a simple pipe job done on my exhaust but their excuse was that they didn't have the right hooks. You don't NEED hooks to get the job done. The fact that they didn't even do a simple oil change, or change the light either? This is nothing but laziness. I would NOT recommend coming here to get your car looked at unless you are very specific with what you want done. Had my car in for nearly 7 hours. Just recently went in to get an oil change and was recommended that I also change my air cabin filter, engine filter and get my tires rotated. Which ended up costing $287. I did some quick research and saw that the filters cost $10-$15 at any auto supply store but they were charging $90 for each filter. I received $10 off (like that did anything) the oil change in sympathy. i was recommended to go see them because of their service and prices. I know they are under new ownership and I can see that they just want more money over giving a quality product. I will not return to this location. read more

My family and I have been going to this location for almost a decade due to their honest, quality work and reasonable prices. They would never try and upsell for things that didn't need to be replaced. Every since they switched ownership, this place had declined tremendously. I used to get my oil changed for $50 (full synthetic) and now they want me to pay $70 and said they cannot honor the price I was getting before. They also try and upsell anything they can to make some extra money. I am no mechanic but I sure am not a naive idiot. The quality of work is terrible now. I purchased 4 tires through them (why I don't know) and they damaged my tire pressure sensors and did not replace/fix them. They tried to charge me to replace them. They also forgot to put the valve caps back on. Even though that's a minor error, it's still an error. Who knows what other errors they make that aren't visible. Also, when I got my oil changed they spilled oil all over my engine bay and did not clean it up. Needless to say they have lost my and my families business. Please take into consideration the previous positive reviews were BEFORE ownership changes. I see I am not the only customer who has had a negative experience with the new owner. This place is as honest as it gets. I've been taking all my cars here for years, and the manager Mike is extremely honest and trustworthy. Last time I was in my check engine light was on, and my car was hesitating. He said he needed to flush the fuel injection, but that the check engine light was on because of a part that failed that you only need to pass emission testing. Since I don't need to do emission testing, he said it wasn't necessary and wasn't affecting my performance at all. I really appreciate an honest mechanic, and I will continue to bring my cars here for that reason alone. These guys have earned my business and my loyalty by being trustworthy. After getting screwed over at the Sycamore Midas, I thought of giving the St. Charles Midas a shot after seeing so many good reviews. (See my Yelp review on Midas Sycamore) Took my caravan in on Saturday morning to have the noisy struts looked at since Midas in Sycamore are a bunch of dumbasses. Got there at 7am, right when they opened and talked to David the manager about the situation. He said they would look at it and after about 6 hours of trying to find the problem, he replaced the quickstrut. Noise was gone,and he didn't charge a dime as the strut was still under warranty. David kept me updated throughout the day as to what was going on. Anybody looking for an honest mechanic, stay away from Sycamore Midas, and take a drive out to the Midas in St. Charles. read more

Its a shame to see this place get a negative review. We are three-car family. Chris, Mike and the guys here are so friendly and courteous that I've gotten to know them on a first name basis. Beyond simple maintenance, they have done a lot of extensive repairs for me such as replacing an alternator, starter, wiper motors, etc. They've also troubleshot a nagging electrical problem that even my dealer couldn't resolve. Good guys, always willing to go the extra mile for you and take a lot of pride in their work. They are honest as well, telling me when I should take my vehicle elsewhere to save some money or because of some expertise they don't have in-house (transmission repair in one instance). I'd trust these guys with my wallet and thats saying a lot. Service isn't dead, as these guys are proof. Give them your business and you won't be disappointed. read more

I went to Midas when I needed an oil change. They did a great job of getting me in and out and the price was great. I spoke with Brandon and he let me know that my brake pads were low and would need to be changed in the near future and gave me a fair quote. A few days later it sounded like the pads were starting to rub so I went back in. I spoke with Brandon again and he let me know it would take about a half day and would let me know what the rubbing was. I feared it was the calipers which would have cost me a lot more money. He called me with great news that it was just the wheel bearings. They are very honest people that do great work. They have definitely earned my business!!! read more
