Used to love this place. I have been bringing my cars here for a few years. I recently bought a new car and wanted to get full synthetic oil in it before an upcoming long road trip and I went in Friday 9/23 and setup an appointment for Monday 9/26. I informed the man at the counter I had my own full synthetic oil and filter. He said the oil change would be full price. And a conventional oil change was listed as 37 dollars. I mentioned I also did not need any tire rotation or fluid top off just the oil swap. He said he would note in my appointment comments about getting a break in price on shop supplies. So today I take my car in at 11 am a different man was working the counter. He told me it would also be full price. He then steps back to talk to his manager comes out rings me up for 75 dollars. Standard oil change is 37. So I asked him why are you charging me 75? His reply was that is how much they get for a full synthetic oil change. So I guess pouring in synthetic and using a customer bought premium filter costs so much extra labor?? After years of using this place this is the final straw for me. It's absurd to charge me FULL SYNTHETIC prices when I am supplying the oil and filter and do not need any of the other services provided with an oil change. It appears this shop is to corporate to think outside of the box and work with its loyal customers. Despite some less than stellar reviews I must say I had an excellent experience with Ken and his services. Have an older cart that needed front brake pads and rotors. Inspection showed a defective caliper as well. Ken was forthright in his explanations of what was going on. I am by no means a brake expert but Ken made it understandable. His pricing was fair and he helped me out with a battery as well. I won't hesitate to recommend this location for service or to use them again. read more

About a month ago, my wife had to travel from Lisle to Iowa to visit colleges with my son. I took the car in for a regular oil change at like 7:55 am. I mentioned the trip and asked if they could also do an inspection of the car and he said they always do. Since the van has 96,000 miles he said the timing belt needs to be replaced and one of the rear tires was balding due to low tire pressure. He showed me the tire tread and surprisingly it was. He also recommended the battery be changed when I had the chance as it was below spec. I told him I needed to be out of there by 10:55 sharp, no exceptions, as I needed to pick up my daughter at 11:00. He said he understood and if he had to, he would help the mechanic make the time. I had both rear tires replaced and the timing belt replaced and was rung out at 10:40 am. I had wal-mart replace the battery as they got the consumer report best buy for batteries. By having wal-mart do it, I pay the same price and they coat the terminals with some chemical. I am very pleased with this shop and have had other auto work done there as well. read more

I wish i could give them 0 stars, I was having suspension issues, went to a local mechanic that quoted me 600 dollars, I figured I would get a second opinion at a known named place like firestone... Of course I didn't tell them what the first mechanic told me about 2 springs and 2 bushings needing replaced. The mechanic, at firestone proceeds to tell me my entire suspension needs to be replaced at a price tag of 1600 dollars! I feel like they try to up sell unnecessary repairs, please please if you go here to get a major repair, get a second opinion!! Don't go this shop. I don't even want to give them one star.Bring my car in to do brake bleeding. They just open one bleed screw to do this job.I told them it's not the right way to do this job.The guy said we flush all old fluid out. Any body can tell me how can they flush all old fluid out with only one screw open?How can they flush out the old fluid in the other three calipers? The guy said the screws are too rusty,they can't open them. I said I told you they are rusty before, and if you have problem with them,just let me know.If you guys can't do that, don't touch them. I would NOT recommend taking your vehicle here. I took my car in to get a repair they said it was the belt/pulley, they replaced it, was not the belt/pulley so they replaced the wrong part. Then, the manager tells me it's the power steering pump and to turn up the volume on my car radio to make it go away. I had it replaced somewhere else (I bought the part and had it put it) guess what?!?! Wrong again... BEWARE!!!!!!! read more

My wife scheduled an oil change for 11 am on 10/13/2011 @ your Route 53 address in Lisle IL. She arrived and proceeded to wait 45 min for her vehicle. After 45 min she ask why her car didn't have any wheels on it, as she was only getting an oil change. The person behind the desk said that "our process is thorough and usually takes 1/2 hour to 45 min.". Directly following that, she looks out the big picture window to the garage area. That's when the gentleman from behind the desk started talking with a garage attendant (By now it's been a hour). She then watches 1st hand the attendant draining oil from her vehicle, the oil change hadn't even started! She was in and out within an hour and 15 min./hour and 20 min. and got to be treated like an idiot along with being lied to. The person behind the desk tried to convince her, that she had not seen what she had just witnessed. I just thought corporate should know how the business is being run on the ground here in IL. The time spent at the shop is one thing, the treatment she received is an entirely different situation and completely unacceptable. Unfortunately this experience has ruined any chance of future business with your company. I can also not recommend your company to any friends, family or other consumers. read more

I went for an oil change 2 weeks ago and they broke my lock off my car. No one said a word and the solved it by putting a screw in the plastic while they ordered a new part for me. The came back in to get the lock fixed that they ordered and noticed the person working on my car struggled to get my window to go back up when putting my door back together. After my car was done they then returned it to me and did not say a word about the window. While in the car the window stuck half way going up and going down. I then go back into the shop only to be told that someone else was in my door before them and that my window was like that when I dropped it off. I was so pissed that they did not say anything about the window. I should also mention that I used that window coming over to the shop and it worked perfectly fine. I was made to feel as though I had been working in the door and was given attitude upon entering the store. While waiting again for my car to be fixed another customer comes in and is asking about tires and when he is told that they are not a corporate store and cant honor the price quoted by another Firestone. The customer asks to speak to a manager when he is told "no" there is noting they can do. The customer then again asks to speak to a manager before they lose a sale and the customer service person tells him that he is busy and cant speak to him. The two then get into a loud verbal altercation in the store and the manager never shows up. I have been getting my cars oil changed here for months but after this experience and how they handled it as well as the other customer I will not be returning. I would highly advise to not take your car to them!!!!! read more

Aside from the very convieniet shuttle car that they offer that can take you home if you need to leave your car for repairs, I find this Firestone to be useless. I have been to this particular location for an oil change a few times and I am ALWAYS told there is more work that needs to be done on my car. I always just sucked it up and let them do the work until most recently when they told me the serpentine belt was upside down and they were surprised my car was still running. I was bummed until I realized that THIS Firestone is the only place that has done any work on my car so if it was upside down, it was obvious who had done that. They refused to take responsibility for the problem and wanted to charge me $250, just to flip the belt over!! Are you kidding me? I told them to leave it alone and I would figure it out. I left Firestone and went immediately to a mechanic that my whole family goes to and when I told him the problem he laughed! Without looking at my car he knew that the serpentine belt is grooved on both sides and it wasn't upside down and then popped my hood and showed me himself. I was livid needless to say that Firestone almost charged me $250 for NOTHING. Don't trust these guys, they are scammers and try and squeeze every dollar out of you they can. I had to drive a trailer loaded with kid's suitcase's from my church over 65 miles on the highway to a camp in Indiana, leave it there and pick it up the following Mon. I brought my truck to Firestone of Lisle, Il on 2/11/2016 to have them check and repair the trailer connections and wiring on my Ford truck. I was told that they can do that. I told them to just replace everything. When I picked up the truck they had spliced a new 3 pin connection to the old wiring and left it dangling (not secured to the truck). The other, round connection, was not replaced. They told me they cleaned it up and that it should work. When I connected the trailer to the truck at about 4:00pm, the lights on the trailer did not work. I called Firestone and asked if I could bring it back and was told that there was no one available. I went to another place to try to get it fixed but they were closed by the time I got there at 5:00pm. I had no choice but to drive the trailer with no brake, turn, etc. lights over 65 miles in the dark. The trailer was big enough to prevent anyone from seeing the lights on my truck. I had to go pick up the trailer that Mon. and did not want to take another chance driving on the highway with no lights, so on Sun morning at 11:30 when I should have been serving at my church for services, I went to Farm and Fleet in Montgomery, IL and they replaced everything, mounted it correctly and made sure all the lights worked. I did not want to take a chance of another poor job from Firestone. Those lights are very, very important. Firestone charged me $139 and did not repair the issues. Farm and Fleet charged my $60 and corrected all issues. Firestone refuses to refund my money but instead want to issue me store credit. Why would I want to trust them to work on my truck again? On another occasion, they damaged my dash board. They didn't say anything and left it for me to find. They said they would clean it but when I went back, it was not cleaned, but I needed the truck so I agreed to bring it back another day. Once again, it was not fully repaired and I was told to bring it back another day. While discussing the trailer issues with a rep from Firestone, he implied that I was lying about everything. read more

Was in there to have my car looked at, having an issue with the heat going cold when she idles. The guy whistled and said "usually when that happens it's a head gasket." (it felt like a movie) That's a big conclusion to jump to! A very expensive conclusion. Aside from that, I've been in there a few other times for maintenance like getting an oil change. They always decline my business because they're "too busy'' but the last time they were too busy the girl added "But if theres anything wrong with your car and you need a repair you can leave it." I hate bringing my car into places - even for little things like an oil change - because I always feel like someone is trying to scam more money out of me. Pleasantly surprised that did not happen here. Came in for an oil change, happened to have a check engine light on that I've been avoiding getting checked out because it always costs so much. Autofix changed my oil and checked why my engine light was on. The guy at the front explained to me (in terms I could understand) what the issues were with my car and which ones were most (and least) important to get fixed now. Turns out it didn't cost nearly as much as I was anticipating and they were able to take care of it that day. The worst experience in car repair I've ever had the displeasure to attend. When I called to make a quotation for an electric repair that my car needed, one of the employees assured me that the value of the electrical diagnosis would be 65.00 dollars. So I took the car to repair. However, in just one hour of service, they called me saying they did not find the problem and that I would need more two hours to repair, and that the amount that I should pay would increase from 65.00 to 350.00 dollars. When I said I did not want to continue because I did not had the money, they said they would charge me $ 117.00 for the "service" already rendered. Anyway, they made me pay $ 117 for nothing; I went to my house without any kind of resolution to the problem of my car. Furthermore, the employee in charge was extremely arrogant and treated me very bad. What a rip off experience. Anyway, I totally DO NOT recomend AutoFix as a Auto Repair option. read more

Honestly if it weren't for the Duke of Oil, I probably would've never known about these guys. It's a pretty small shop stowed away in the corner of the Duke. I went to get my Oil changed at the duke and when all was said and done I went home and saw an Oil leak, Obviously frustrated I rushed back to the duke and asked what happened. The guy in the white shirt had said that both the filter and plug were tight, he did manage to grab the mechanic from Autofix to see if he could see anything different. Within 5 miniutes of looking underneath the vehicle he managed to find some kind of sensor leaking, He advised me to follow him back to the shop and he'd be able to get it fixed today even though he seemed pretty busy. It's been 3 weeks, no leaks and the work was done at a very reasonable price and done within an hour. The Mechanic even showed me the part that failed after he had replaced it saying this is a pretty common failure on my Vehicle. read more

Fuck merv at this place. he charged me to change a link, then the other link went bad so I took it to a different place and he said the 1st link had never been replaced. so MERV charged me $136 to change the 1st link and never changed it. I had my car towed here, because my car wouldn't start on Saturday. Today, they said it was my starter. I agreed to the price and they replaced my starter. I went to the store down the street. I came out a few minutes later and my starter just spun, but wouldn't engage the flywheel. It took 6 attempts to start my car. The store was closed, so I will bring it back tomorrow morning and have them fix it AGAIN!!! read more

Stay away from this place. I only wish I could give them MINUS five stars. They are rip-off artists of the first degree and very dishonest. My wife's brakes failed but she managed to get the car home. I noticed the right rear brake line bad a bad leak. Since we live nearby I was able to nurse the car to Firestone of Lisle the next day. I told them about the bad break line and also told them I was a first time customer and looking for a new mechanic since my old one had moved. He said he would do everything in his power to keep me coming back. What a joke that statement turned out to be. After a few hours they called me at home and told me the brake line was indeed bad and needed to be replaced but that the other one was rusted badly and also needed replaced. They quoted me $370 to replace two brake lines which are nothing more than 20 feet of aluminum tubing worth about $30 max. I told them I thought it was excessively high but I was kind of stuck because it would have cost me a tow bill to take it somewhere else. Here comes the kicker: They also said the car wasn't safe to drive because the steering rack and pinion and the tie rod ends were bad and needed replaced. They quoted me $800!. I had just had the tires replaced and the front end checked at another place and they said all was well so now I suspect these folks are dishonest but like I said I was stuck. I told them to just replace the brake lines. When I called to see if the car was ready I asked them if both lines were replaced and he sad they were. When I picked the car up I asked again if both lines were replaced and he said they were. I paid the $370 and went home. I noticed the brake pedal was low but thought It might improve within a day or two. Since I used to do my own mechanic work when I was younger I crawled under the car to check out the new brake lines. To my surprise they only replaced ONE brake line and charged me $370! I couldn't believe they let me drive away with only one new line. Worse, the other one was heavily rusted and would have failed soon with my wife driving the car! When I pulled up in front the guy could barely look me in the eye. I asked for the manager and showed him the one brake line and the low pedal. I also don't believe they bled the brakes and if they did they only bled the one wheel. I told him to just adjust my bill because I didn't want them within 50 feet of my car ever again. Folks, if you want to go here for an oil change or something that's fine but please don't have them do any mechanic work on your car because they are dishonest. Please get a written estimate and take it somewhere else for a second opinion before you let them touch it. I really don't want to join yelp but feel so strongly about this I'm going to do it if I can warn someone else away from this place. I can only imagine if this happened to a single woman or a senior citizen they would be driving a time bomb. read more

This place is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. My family and I have been to this place and each one of us have had a horrible experience. First of all the customer service is ridiculous. I even spoke to the manager and he is way worse than the employees. I went in for an oil change and they broke my tire pressure sensor, which was expensive to fix. My mother went in for an oil change and they broke the tire sensor off her vehicle as well. My most recent experience was my husband vehicle went in for an oil change and they broke the struts off his vehicle. They tried to blame it on us when we were driving the vehicle around way before it coming in for service with no problems. We also brought brand new tires (4 days before going to Jiffy Lube and the tire shop never ever mentioned struts needed for the vehicle. We also had the struts fixed not even six months prior. How do you go in for an oil change and come out with worse problems? Usually you go in to a service shop and they will tell you what is wrong with the vehicle and ask permission to fix other things. THIS SHOP IS THE WORSE AND I WILL NEVER EVER EVER take another vehicle to this shop. There are a whole bunch of inexperienced people that work here. Run and run fast! If you want to go to Firestone...go to the location in Lombard, IL....the service is great and the customer service is wonderful. The Lisle location need to be shut down and the manager need to be fired. It is one thing to believe in your employees, but it's a whole other thing to make logic of something that doesn't add up!!!! read more
