Brisket, pulled pork and cornbread was very good, although served at room temperature. My kid enjoyed his grill master burger. The part I didn't care for was the automatic 15% tip charge when paying with a card when this place doesn't even have waitresses. Luckily there is an option to remove it. No worries if you want to leave a tip, you can just leave the tip on your charge. they also conveniently have a tip jar at the register when paying with cash. read more

I was a little nervous coming here after seeing some of the reviews. However, it definitely exceeded expectations! We got the slow smoked ribs with the pickle chips and Mac and cheese. The ribs were delicious and fell off the bone. The pickle chips were crispy and crunchy without too much batter or too greasy. The one downside was the Mac and cheese because it needed a little bit of salt. After adding some to the Mac, it tasted perfect! Will be coming back again! read more

This is a nice place the atmosphere is acceptable. The customer service could be a lot better If only everybody could smile. I didn't care for the coleslaw. It was too vinegar, and they looked at me like I had three heads when I asked for something else. Nice place with good music. Good quality meats. I had chicken and ribs. Cornbread is good. People don't know how to cook cornbread up north they at least came close. Cole slaw has a weird taste. It's not traditional Cole slaw. Mac and cheese should never have spices in it. I did not like the Mac and cheese. Idk why they say brew on the title no brew here. Just sodas and factory made tea. Cookies are good. Service is fast and very friendly. Prices are decent but a bit high. I will be back for the chicken because this area does not have good chicken like this. I don't mind paying higher prices for a good meal, but our meals weren't that good! Your 3 bone ribs (I paid extra for) and your rib tips were burnt and the meat was dried out! It was like we were eating beef jerky! If I wanted burnt ends, I would have ordered them! If I wanted beef jerky, I would go to the store and buy some! I was so excited when I noticed they were opening a bbq spot in their area! I ordered immediately and the food was great! The amount for the price was fair and everything was fresh..tender and delicious. I would order the 2 or 3 meat platter. I was never a huge fan of the sides but the meat was on point...considering. It's been a while since I've ordered and I had a taste for descent bbq. I got the ribs and spicy link sausage. The ribs were chewy and the sausage had that old meat taste. As if they shopped at food 4 less. I gave it 2 stars because the potatoe salad wasnt bad and the servers (phone and in person) were nice. Probably won't go back. They appear to be in a "soft opening" phase, and this review takes that into account. The haven't yet received their liquor license, so we decided to get our order to-go and head to a local brewery. It was apparent that the employees were still training, as communication seemed disjointed and it didn't appear the "team dynamic" had yet been developed. All seemed very eager to help and answer any questions about the menu. The desert menu was limited (I was really looking forward to the smoked bacon chocolate chip cookie), but as I stated before it's a work in progress. The food was AMAZING, I got the three meat combo with rib tips (huge), Burnt Endz(sic), and smoked wings. Portion sizes were ample and the taste was on-par with any of the Texas pits I have been to. The prices for the amount of food you get are more than fair, and even with my above average appetite I had leftovers to bring home. The onion rings weren't crispy by the time I got to them but I'll chalk that up to sitting in a carry-out container for the ride. The same goes for the "burnt endz," as by the time we got to our destination, it seemed more like smoked pot roast than true brisket point. I'm definitely looking forward to trying them again on-site and tasting them the way they were intended. Steaming in a styrofoam container is not kind to any food, but especially BBQ and battered items. We will definitely go back once they're firing on all cylinders. They are a welcome addition to the Alsip dining scene and something the area has been lacking since the other area BBQ places have gone downhill in service and quality. read more

Meh. Chicken was really good. Brat was okay, but not at all bad. I'd go back to try some more meat after they are more established. I was not a fan of the mac and cheese at all. Just didn't have good flavor and the cheese was almost the same consistency as canned nacho cheese which was off-putting. Cornbread was pretty good though too...although not served warm. read more

I paid 25 dollars for the smallest portion of meats I ever got in a bbq place, the ribs were burnt and the brisket was ok but they just gave me a small amount of it. the cashier was friendly but the food is terrible. I can't tell you how disappointed I was with this place. I had really high hopes. First off let me commend the cashiers as they were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately things went downhill quickly from there. I ordered the two meats with a side and it came to about 25 bucks with the tip. I ordered the brisket and the ribs with a side of Cole slaw. I had concerns when I saw there were only two couples in the place at 6 pm on a Thursday. The space is very welcoming with an open kitchen. The second thing that was a big concern was I saw the cook deep frying something. That something was my ribs which he dumped in a bowl then slathered with sauce, then into my container along with a heathy portion of sliced brisket. Ribs were very tough, fat not rendered, and hard. Brisket was even worse. Dry, fat not rendered, tough as leather. No bend, and I literally couldn't pull it apart with my hands. No bark, a hint of smoke but overall the absolute worst brisket I've ever had. I've never returned food at a restaurant because it was bad, but I was really close to doing so as the meats were so horridly prepared. Cornbread was crumbly and dry. Cole slaw, pickles and peppers were the best things that I had. Sauces were good too The frustrating thing is this location is great, the atmosphere is great the service is great but the food is horrendous. I take BBQ seriously and have personally smoked ribs and brisket. It's like they rushed it. Fat needs to be rendered and meats should be tender. I really think this place can be fixed. As of now however, save your money and go to either Hog Wild or BBQ 911. read more

I have been here several times now, so I feel I can give my honest opinion. I like the ribs, especially the party trays. We don't have much in the way of smoke houses in the south suburb, so Firewater's ribs in my opinion are one of the best. The smoked chicken which I ordered twice was tasty both times, but also very dry. The burnt end are extremely fatty, skip them. The brisket was dry and not too tasty. The two meat meal portions were large. But the amount of brisket you get with the salad was very disappointing. Very little meat. The Grillmaster burger was excellent. The fries were good and plentiful, but the other sides come in very small container and not worth the price. This is my place to go for ribs, but not much else. read more

Pretty solid overall, the sweet potato fries were good but covered in brown sugar so take that as you will. I swear middle aged Karen's only have Yelp so they can cry and moan that they didn't get everything exactly how they wanted. I saw someone complain that they couldn't switch a TV when there were only 8 people in the restaurant, (like they aren't working on delivery orders.) I go on this app for photos and leave disgusted seeing that you old farts only use this app to complain and potentially ruin a business's future. My husband and I went last week. I had the pulled pork and sweet potato fries. They were the best fries I've ever had. The staff was friendly, the restaurant was clean and the food was delicious. My husband had the ribs and Cajun fries he was also happy with his food. The bbq sauce is delicious too. Can't wait to go back. We've needed a new place to go. read more

My husband and I have been here several times and have consistently had good food. We've sampled most of the meat and side options with the ribs, burnt ends, and wings being our favorite. As for the sides, the beans and onion rings are good. I wouldn't recommend the potato salad. The cashiers and service have also been on point. The establishment does have televisions and usually they have on sports, game shows, local news or other neutral programming. However, the last time we visited, they had the television on Fox News and it was uncomfortable to say the least. Just stay away from political programming on the television so you don't alienate customers of any political bent. read more

I would like to comment on the service but there is not much to talk about. We were not greeted when we came in. We stood and ordered our food. We stood and waited for our food. No one seated us. No one came to our table. No one asked if our food met our expectations. No smiles. The person pressing the buttons on the cash register had no problem asking for a tip as we paid standing up. The food was not hot. The slab of bbq ribs was colder than room temperature. The big sign outside said BBQ & Brew. But there was no beer as advertised on the web site. The root beer was good. The quality of food was very good but probably would have been better if hot. Overpriced for the serving sizes. Everything was self-serve. I could have used a self-serve microwave to warm the food. The tables and chairs are not user friendly. The bottoms of the A frame picnic tables are a tripping hazard. No serrations and not easy to cut the craft paper roll at the table that is apparently to be used as napkins. So I used the plastic knife. I have seen more courtesy displayed many times at the average McDonalds. Won't be back. read more
