We stopped in for a lunch and drink on a weekend during the "slower" season (March: kind of in between Ski Season and Lake Season in which the locals refer to as the "Mud Season"!). We sat at the bar with Laine- who was just fantastic. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and made some really great drinks for us! We asked him to make "something fun that maybe isn't on the menu" since he talked about really loving being a mixologist. His drinks were creative and elegant... and delicious! He had a full bar and still made us feel like we were the only customers. We ordered the Blistered Shishito Peppers (OMG the lemon aioli too!), Lamb Lollipops in chimmichuri and Mussels and everything was SO GOOD. The views from the restaurant are beautiful and from what I hear it's quite the spot in the summer once the docks are back in the water and the windows are open. We can't wait! Well, they packed a whole lot of bar and restaurant into a small but well thought out space. We went for lunch, kind of late, and it was still pretty packed. Cocktails are top notch; well crafted and thoughtfully designed. The bar seems eclectically stocked with a wide variety of libations - including the whole Old Forester line, which is my favorite bourbon that's easily found. But I digress. The Disco Fries are well covered in other reviews; I will just reinforce that they are mandatory unless you are vegetarian or gravy intolerant. The fisherman's stew is probably a must-order if you are a seafood fan. Don't sleep on the grilled cheese with short ribs and peppers and onions. I was excited to try Firewater for the first time. We started off with hush puppies and they were good. We put in our dinner order right away. Service was then incredibly slow and it took a very long time for food to come out. Everyone was disappointed with their main courses. We had the honey soy salmon, crab stuffed salmon, and the crab louie. The salmon was dry (both dishes) and the crab louie was pathetic with barely 6 any crab, a few tiny pieces of asparagus (not whole spears). None of it was worth the price. We asked for a dessert menu and never got one. We won't be going back after this experience. read more

The outside is beautiful and I am very eager to sit outside one evening next summer as this place is freshly opened. To make a reservation or request a table, you can call or do so on their website. Although, I did do both options with calling getting me a table and online not. The drive from our place isn't bad as we are familiar with Ace's which is right next to this establishment. The parking might get interesting but I bet they are going to paint lines when weather cooperates. Still a small lot? The building is super lit and pretty up close and afar also smelling like new wood. We were sat for our reservations right away which were supposed to be at bar but moved to a small side table which I guess was up to the hostess. I think after looking back I would've liked to have been given that option to remain at the bar because the table & location where we sat was very tight. It was a high top bar table so maybe people who were drinking with apps would've been better sat here. Our server was very attentive. Other servers were also attentive to rid of any dishes. We ordered drinks as you will see in photos. Two apps of fried green tomatoes (which might be better in season) and edamame dumplings (great idea, would've appreciated them being a little less doughy and seasoning the edamame.) I went with my traditional scallop pick as I stray from mushroom or squash options which seems to be a big trend at most every restaurant? Scallops were little so to me that means they are likely not totally fresh but I could be wrong - they were good though atop cheddar bacon grits. That was probably the best part. I think I would've like to see a vegetable other than bok choy. The dish-ware all around was super cute & decor was modern but rustic too. Again, this place will thrive in most seasons in my opinion. Also, the Diet Pepsi I had was really good. Idk just the fountain ratio was spot on. We ended with butterscotch cake that was really good. I almost would've liked to have butterscotch pudding to go with it lol. We were in and out in less than an hour, too - so for a new place two people were in and out pretty effectively. Lastly, I appreciate the fact I didn't feel insanely stuffed after eating all my food even dessert. I just did not get that heavy feeling. I like this. Stopped here for a meal on NYE. Being a new and crispy restaurant, only several weeks old, I was interested to see what this place was like. Located behind Ace's Run, it's not a particularly large place, mountain cabin type architecture with big windows and open ceilings. The bar is the focal point with open shelves to see different bottles etc. Sat in the bar area - which is pretty much the whole place, and greeted by waitress. Put in app orders of Edamame dumplings and fried tomatoes. The dumplings were decent enough, though the points were still doughy and probably weren't steamed long enough; and the fried green tomatoes had a nice collection of bleu cheese crumble, aioli, and garnish, but lacked seasoning before they were breaded and fried. For my entree I ordered the steak frites (steak and fries) but subbed out the fries for cheddar bacon grits. Ordered the steak medium. It also comes with a sunny side egg on top. I'm in. The steak was cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, but the steak was cut way too soon - and bled all over everything. Usually, steak needs to rest 3-5min before cutting, or if it must be cut, let it rest and "drain" somewhat before plating. As for the grits - **I MEAN WOW** they were great and the flavors with the steak and even egg was a perfect blend. Ordered a coffee - which unfortunately came out room temp. Waitress was nice and attentive, and since it's new, I can see it becoming a mainstay and worthy of 4 stars here. read more

Nice, newish restaurant/bar on the side (down the hill) from Acers Restaurant on Deep Creek Lske, Garrett County, Maryland (NW Md.). Lots of big windows inside and outside seating to view the lake; I understand you can come by boat and walk up to the restaurant- that would be nice. We ordered sandwiches-chicken w/pimento, blacked salmon BLT, beef short ribs with onions and peppers with one side. Prices were $16-18 and were nice sized sandwiches; my mango broccoli slaw was very tasty and it looked to be plenty of fries. I saw lots of people drinking (surprise, surprise) but I thought they drinks were kind of pricey....? Service was good, no one tried to rush us out, enjoyable. PS. I love salads with some type of protein and eat them often in many places, cities, states, etc. I think a lunch salad with protein should not cost more then your speciality sandwiches; certainly not up in the mid-$20's. The service was fine and the view is fantastic, there's the good part. The food...crab hushpuppies served with a jalapeno corn thing were almost crabless and unremarkable at best. I got the curry scallops, the scallops were flavorless, the carrots were undercooked and the curry was bland, generally nothing was seasoned in the entire meal. For some reason, the chef thinks that corn substitutes for seasoning. My better half got the crabless crab stuffed salmon, with, of course, bacon corn salsa. The highlight of this is that the meal was inedible and the waitress was nice enough to take it off the bill. We closed with a piece of store-bought cheesecake. The cherry on the sundae is that they have a great outdoor patio that is not dog friendly even at lunch. The two things saving them is sitting on the lake and new tourists. read more

Came here for a bachelorette dinner. The atmosphere is undoubtedly a 10/10. A great place for photos and the ambiance is just right. The place is small and gets loud, I'm sure it helps when the weather is nice and you're able to also sit outside. Service was good. We ordered some fries right away - they were the star of the show for me. Nicely seasoned, almost like a mini wedge fry. I saw some pics of a fry trio, I didn't see that on the menu or I would have definitely gotten them. Food was...ok? Ordered the shortrib, mushroom stroganoff dish (don't remember the full name). The meat was tough and did not seem like short rib. Noodles and sauce were ok. Didn't like the big dallop of sour cream on top. It was also served in an oversized bowl that reminded me of a dog bowl and threw the meal off for me. I'm cool with paying $26 for a meal....but not really for this one. A couple of the other girls got the salmon and said it was great! The cocktails also looked super cute and got rave reviews. We recently was in Deep Creek and stopped by Firewater for cocktails and we were left speechless. When we come to Deep Creek we look for somewhere to hangout and this is a great stop The bartenders here are super knowledgeable when your ordering and all you really need to do is tell them what you like and they make you a fantastic Cocktail. I would recommend Firewater for dinner as well we saw some wonderful dishes coming out to the dining room and definitely we will stop in very soon for dinner and the view from this place is amazing panoramic view of the lake read more

Stopped here for lunch today. We were seated quickly and then sat there for 20 minutes with NO additional interaction from anyone in the restaurant. There were three other tables with people when we arrived - two of them left within 5 minutes of our arrival, so one active table. Two people at the bar. There were 6 employees (three behind the bar, three others walking around). People walked past our table 7 times in 20 minutes without so much as a glance our way. After we had waited for 15 minutes, two other people entered and were seated, given water and the waitress chatted with them for at least 5 minutes. Meanwhile, the other employees who were not behind the bar came to set up a table for a group of 8 or so that had arrived shortly after the two who were talking with the waitress. At that point, we had been seated for 20 minutes - there had been one active table for 15 of those minutes. We left without so much as a second glance. I mentioned people who were entering as we left that I wished them better luck than we had as we'd waited 20 minutes and had zero service after being seated. This is not an issue of being "short staffed". There were three tables of people when we arrived and two left within 5 minutes. There were 6 people who were employed (I hesitate to use the word "working") there for essentially 2 tables with two and four people respectively and two people at the bar. Went elsewhere and had infinitely better service (which was not difficult given we had NO service here). Disappointing to say the least read more

Have been here a few times with friends. It's a fun, noisy, happy atmosphere. Bartenders are very impressive with their knowledge and their Tom Cruise Cocktail moves with the shakers. The view is beautiful and the outside fire feature is super cool. Girls' trip? Boys' weekend? Impressing out of towners with fanciness? Come here for sure!! That's the good stuff. This is a bar. Make no mistake--there is a small menu, but this is a bar. This is a place for bachelorette parties, friends gatherings, fruity-boozy-drinks-fueled shenanigans. You with the toddlers should move along--it's just not for you right now. Here's the stuff I would improve if I could: - Nearly everything on the small menu has meat in it. If you're not a meat-eater, you are going to have a very hard time here. Even the brussel sprouts are coated in bacon. A little diversity--one non-meat entree that's not a green salad--would be amazing. - Good God, it's expensive. For what you get, I'm going to say it's silly, Dave-Ramsey-stroke-inducing expensive. Dutch's prices, no exaggeration, only Dutch's gives you more food. If you really want dinner, you can do a lot better spending this kind of money (stay in the Brenda's family and hit Ace's next door--it's about the same price point but more real food, larger portions, etc.). I wish there was one non-craft drink and one simple entree (pasta--a simple pasta or a meatless grilled cheese would be amazing) that were reasonably priced. - It's really small inside. And that's fine, but it's super duper crowded (so most people must not be bothered by the price--you go on with your spendy selves). If you're not a crowds kind of person, it gets a little squishy. So good for them that this place is jumping several years after opening--it's nice to see. I'll see it from afar going forward. Just not my kind of dinner joint. read more

Great bar. Very upscale for Garrett County. Purpose built to part lake-people from their money. Not that I have a problem with that. If you are coming for dinner; lots of better places. This is first and foremost a bar. Very few tables but plenty of room to drink. Its a beautiful building. Had fried green tomatoes for an app - excellent. Sat at a wobbly high-top next to the server station - awful. For the main course I had braised short ribs and my date had steak. Both were excellent but I'm 90% sure my short ribs were actually a chuck roast. The staff is outstanding btw. All in all, it is what it is: a lake bar by lake people for lake people. read more

Atmosphere: We sat outside and that is probably the highlight of this restaurant since it is lakeside and pretty, especially with the fire. The inside does look nice too. The bathrooms I have to complement for the modern tech! Food: Smash Burger is exactly that; a small piece of meat smashed in a bun. When I say small, I mean less meat than a McDonalds burger has. The Salmon BLT was much nicer and filling. Service: TERRIBLE! We were seated, 15min later got water. A little later she took our order, and then we waited, and waited, and waited. At least 30-40min later our food arrives, with no utensils, no napkins. The waitress noticed and said something and then didn't bring anything back. Also asked for water refill which never came. After reminding her twice, we finally got A fork and 2 napkins, still no water. We finally gave up waiting and I finished with my fork and gave it to my partner to use. We Will you try the eggs as an appetizer absolutely horrible some new flavor avocado and barbecue flavor deviled eggs. Also we had the soup of the day a chicken mushroom combination that had absolutely no flavor and was a bunch of chicken broth with some mushrooms thrown in. Who is cooking...Absolutely gross the waitress tried to keep a smile on her face. Horrible way to spend $40 and you get nothing out of it except for some gross yes deviled eggs.
