Beautiful Bar- lunch moderate as is dinner based on selections! Really nice dining space.
    Susan W.

The bartender who also took our order was very professional. He made our dining experience pleasant. We had not tried Firewood Grill which is one of the newer establishments in Howell. I had previewed the menu before we went so I was prepared that it was a moderate ti high priced restaurant. They had an extensive menu and consisting of appetizers, burgers, and lunch items, comfort food and of course dinners. They also had a decent size dessert menu, a large wine list and a full bar. My dining companion ordered a Shirley Temple And I was surprised when it ended up being "bottomless". Tim make sure that he brought refills without even being asked. I ordered a Mojito end it was good. Most people probably would appreciated the amount of alcohol in it. It kind of overwhelmed the drink for me.Tim kept a good eye on us but was not intrusive at all. We decided to go ahead and have a late lunch from the dinner menu so that we would only need a snack if anything later in the evening. We did not indulge in an appetizer because the dinners all came with soup, salad, or coleslaw. My dining partner chose the New York strip steak which was a $22 item. It came with a baked potato which was readily substituted for hand cut french fries. It was ordered medium. When it arrived it was cooked properly. I was very disappointed that my dining partner only ate about a third of it. He complained that it had areas of gristle in it. He also opted for salad with ranch dressing. For my dinner I chose the Stuffed Cabbage. It seems that it is more of a northern dish as I have rarely found it on menus in Texas. My mom made delicious (galumpkis) having gotten a recipe from one of our neighbors who happened to be polish and having the knack in the patience to par boil the cabbage, make the meat and rice mixture, also a semi sweet beautiful tomato sauce and being able to roll them fitting about 40 in a large roasting pan. Anyway I consider them comfort food and was very excited to try them. They were served with mashed potatoes and I chose a salad as well with bleu cheese dressing. I'm not sure if my dressing was homemade or not but it sure was good. In fact it ended up being the best and most tasty part of my meal. The salad was fresh with Romain lettuce and some mixed greens, Shredded carrot, several grape tomatoes, cucumber and shredded cheddar cheese. It wasn't too small and it wasn't too large. The dinner came with two stuffed cabbages. The meat and rice were cooked properly and the cabbage was softened the way it is supposed to be. The problem was they were fairly tasteless and the sauce didn't help either- as it was a light red in color but I really didn't taste any tomato in it. Probably the most disappointing thing is that my mashed potatoes were instant. I ate my salad and one of the stuffed cabbages. I also need to mention that right after we sat down and we're thinking about what we wanted to drink we were asked if we would like a bread basket and some nice warm focaccia was brought out along with pats of butter. It was very good. We never made it to desert as both of us were full before we even finished our meal. I would love to see them inject more flavor into their food. Maybe even something as simple as salt and pepper would enhance the taste. I will likely try it again and try something different to see how

Stopped in for a Saturday afternoon cocktail and appetizer. We sat at the bar. Bartender was super nice. Clean inside, nice bar, outdoor seating. We had chicken tenders for an app. Nothing special. Kinda reminded me of a well cooked Tyson chicken product.

This place is awful. Food is a disappointment for the price, management is rough, not kind, yelled at me and made me cry. Do not recommend.

The bar had a family of 4 sitting there with two minors and all were dressed appropriately for a McDonald's and not a nice restaurant. I asked the hostess about the outdoor reservation after realizing this table was going to be a problem. They said they'd try to get us outside, and would move us when a table opened up. A few minutes later, two people walked in without a reservation, asked if they could sit outside, and were seated outside. We then asked about this, and they said the other couple asked to sit outside and the hostess said this to us with a straight face! So now I'm fascinated. What exactly is the reservation doing here? Is it ceremonial? Did I reserve the opportunity to watch someone else get the table? We decided to stay anyway and ordered two drinks and an appetizer. 25 minutes later, we had no drinks and no appetizer. At that point, you have to admire the consistency. They didn't honor the reservation, they didn't bring the drinks, and they didn't bring the food. Nothing we requested made it to us. So we left. I assume somewhere around 9:00 our drinks arrived at an outdoor table occupied by the couple who just walked in.

We got the spinach artichoke cheese dip, calamari, beer flight, fish tacos, sliders, truffle fries, power bowl with blackened salmon. Too bad their Fog's Mac & Cheese comes with bacon and pulled pork, but it was possible to replace the meats grilled chicken with no up charge. They wouldn't let my FIL have two cheeses on his slider without added fees. Our dinner portion was $99.64. The spinach cheese dip is light on spinach and rather salty. It's so-so. I spilled the mason jar as it slipped out of my hand back onto the table. Oops. The water dumped enough all over the table and our dip and chips too. Guess we are done eating that then. We cleaned it up the best we could with the thin dinner napkins. No one came back by this check up on us and take care of the now water logged table. We should have put in our order earlier. The calamari is too bad, the meat is tender. Crust is just slightly crunchy. The fries are maybe a bit undercooked, wilted too. The sliders are good. The fish tacos aren't bad, meat is still tender. The rice is blah. The Mac & Cheese is good, creamy. Cavatappi noodles are a great noodle for this dish, holds creamy goodness in each bite. The grilled chicken is dry. The power bowl is meh, the veggies seemed to be sautéed in the sweet chili sauce, not for me, would have rather have a soy sauce based sauce for this power bowl. It was way too sweet for me. The blackened salmon is not too bad, although a tad dry. Service got better after our order was placed, the start of it wasn't so good.

Possibly something to keep in min d and ask for if you go the Burger route. Aside form the burger, I ordered an Old Fashioned with Makers Mark Bourbon as the base for my cocktail. Aside from the burger there were an assortment of food options that I would classify as Elevated Bar food bordering on a Bistro style Menu that looked very interesting. Nice! The menu offers a lot of delicious options, and both my husband and our friend loved the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. I ordered the Salmon, which was okay. The Spanish Coffee was one of the best I've had. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was how my food allergies were handled. I had included my dietary restrictions in our reservation and also called the restaurant the night before to make sure they could accommodate me. I was reassured after they checked with the kitchen that most items on the menu could be modified to work within my restrictions. Based on that conversation, I felt comfortable keeping our reservation. Since we were dining with others for a birthday celebration, I had hoped the information from my reservation and phone call would have been communicated to our server so I wouldn't need to go through all of my restrictions again at the table. Instead, I had to explain everything during dinner. Because the restaurant is extremely loud and the tables are packed closely together, our server had to stand across the table from me, which meant having to discuss my allergies loudly in front of our entire party and the surrounding tables. It was an uncomfortable and awkward situation. What was most frustrating, however, was then being told that my options were essentially limited to a protein and green beans. This was a far cry from what I had been told the night before that the kitchen could modify most items on the menu to accommodate me. I completely understand that not every restaurant can accommodate every allergy or dietary restriction, and I don't expect them to. My concern is that I specifically called ahead for this reason and relied on the information I was given. Had I been told beforehand that my options would be so limited, we simply would have chosen another restaurant where I could enjoy a nice meal along with everyone else for my husband's birthday. For anyone dining with significant food allergies or restrictions, I would recommend getting very specific information about what can actually be accommodated before making a reservation.
