This is one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Music blasting all night from other rooms. Doors from the outside don't lock. Pet feces and cigarette butts all over the ground outside. Smell of smoke in our nonsmoking room. Freezing cold one minute and sweltering hot the next. Would never ever stay here again and I'd never recommend to anyone. Green River is in the middle of nowhere Utah. We stayed for two nights while visiting Arches and Canyon Lands. The front desk staff was very friendly. Our room was comfortable and clean. Direct TV had been installed on the day we arrived. While the rate was high for the property, lodging in Moab was expensive. There are no proper restaurants in GR, and we had to drive 45 minutes to Moab for dinner both nights. I took a look at the breakfast and was glad, thinking ahead, we had stopped at a bakery in Moab the night before. A Keurig coffeemaker in the room made for a good cup of coffee. If the Dunham fruit stand cross from the hotel is open, do stop for their award winning melons (cantaloupe, honey dew and watermelon) for only cents a pound. read more

We stayed here on our way back home from Boise. It was a very nice room. They accommodated us with a Handicap room (wheel in shower). The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Ok, I read reviews and so on before pulling into this tiny town for the night and man people are nuts. This place is clean, neat, tasteful and comfortable. We searched dog friendly and called 2 places and they are not dog friendly. Obviously most people that travel with a pet are freaks about animals so to not allow it is crazy. First off out of the places I called Lauren was the most friendly on the phone and in person. They had two dogs sleeping behind the counter which is how it should be with a young lady at a front desk alone. It was pleasant and the breakfast is awesome they offer everything and the coffee was delicious. There is a big park behind the hotel with grass so my dog could run between the long drives. I will stay again if I drive back to colorado. Everyone was very nice and people are nuts with reviews they think because they don't face the owners they can be powerful. During the covid-era, I was on a road trip from LA to BOS, were I randomly pulled in at 9:30p hoping for a room & a good sleep. I was greeted by Ken and luckily there was a few vacancies. Ken was professional, courtesy and generous with booking my room. I was impressed by the quality of the bed and quiet noise levels. There is a small gym with bicycle, treadmill and a few dumbbells. If Holiday Inn Express wants to compete with chains like Hampton Inn and even Marriott's Fairfield, it needs to upgrade its properties in places like this one in Green River, UT. This motel isn't terrible, but it is terribly overpriced ($150+ in the off-season) for what you get. This property is much like one of those old mom 'n pop motels your parents used to stay in. The rooms have cheap, dated furnishings, there is only one small elevator for the building, and the hallways are narrow and hot. Each room has individual satellite TV set-ups instead of motel-wide cable or satellite. You have to figure out how to program the Dish system in your room. We figured it out one time, but the next time we couldn't get the TV to work, so we had to call the front desk and have someone come up and turn our TV on! On the positive side, the staff was friendly, and the included breakfast spread was very good. read more

Glad we booked ahead cause they were filled up when we arrived that night. Too bad, they do not give goody bags to Priority Club members. The room was nice and clean. The walls seemed pretty thin though cause we heard a lot of noise next door and across the hallway. Of course, the people were probably much louder and ruder than most people. For the most part though, we slept well cause we were all tired from our adventures at Arches National Park. Staff could have been nicer. Breakfast was fine. We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel and recommend for future travelers. We arrived after midnight but the owner was there to greet us and very accommodating. To wake up to a hot (and delicious) breakfast exceeded our expectations and gave us the energy to start our day. Had a wonderful stay at this hotel, driving through cross country. It was still a whopping 90+F at 11pm and I just couldn't get myself to sleep in the car, so I looked up this place and am so glad I decided to stay here. I think this is kinda a weekend / vacation type of spot, too, which unfortunately I did not get to experience/checkout. They have a wonderful pet policy and are so welcoming to our furry family members! Their COVID-19 preparedness is great and I felt super safe at all times. You can preorder your breakfast during your check in the night before and they'll have it ready for you in the morning to pick it up at the check in counter. They also have a nice lawn and a few chairs under the trees outside to the left of the building. It was clean & friendly. read more

Nice clean place. Not real special, but shower head worked as it was supposed to, towels were fluffy and clean. These kind of places always provide a "free breakfast." I've had two good breakfasts for free in my life. One was at rival Tamarisk also in Green River where an actual chef cooked up omelets or eggs to order. We cannot stay at Tamarisk because they do not allow dogs. (I presume that they have to allow service animals by law, but we were traveling with a non-rated animal. The other was at a Best Western that didn't fool with breakfast at all, they simply gave us a coupon for a free breakfast at a diner across the street. Now that is the way to do breakfast! My pet peeve about motels/hotels of this class is that they give our plastic-wrapped plastic cups instead of good old (fashioned?) glass glasses. The difference between glass and plastic is monumental and ecological. read more

I was traveling with 2 kids and 3 dogs on my way back home to colorado and was running so late I wanted to deal with it when i got home which was the next day! So this place could be very good if they just fix a few things. The rooms are quiet and spacious. The TV however, didn't work correctly. We finally went and got our own batteries for the remote as the person at the desk was filling in for the Manager and was very friendly, but seemed overwhelmed. This is a good Hotel for pets. However, outside the rooms needs some cleaning. The breakfast was weird, they have a list of a few items and they hand you what you ask for to go. Very rude lady at the front desk. I would not recommend staying here unless they make some changes to improve their customer service. They've got a bank of Tesla super chargers next door, which I'm sure their guests take advantage of every day, yet when someone comes in who is charging, to see if they offer any refreshments, etc., she asks if you are a guest of the hotel, and if you say you're just charging next door, she says "we don't allow people who aren't guests inside." Never met someone who worked in hospitality who was so inhospitable. read more

Upon driving in, we were greeted by wonderful staff (the owner himself) working the desk. He did such a great job in helping us check in in under a minute, and showing us to our room. It was a quiet February night, and we were pleasantly lounging in our room all day. I was awakened at 12:30am with an itching red bug bite on my foot. We packed up and left the hotel. The next day my back was broken out in red bug bites. Unaware if these are bed bugs or flea bites, but neither is acceptable. The hotel had "newer" carpet lying on top of the old carpet. The manager refused to provide a refund because I did not report this before we left. We couldn't, as there was no one at the front desk at 1:30am when we departed. It took four days to get ahold of the manager. In that time I was told I had the wrong number, a message was taken saying the manager would return my call. What made me rate this place 5 stars was the personal attention the staff gave my son in assisting him on his way back home via greyhound. We've stayed at 17 different Hampton Inns, Best Westerns, and Holiday Inn Expresses in the last couple of weeks on a road trip between California and Kansas. On average, we've paid $100/night per room. This was the worst out of all of the hotels we stayed at and also the second most expensive. (The most expensive was the Hampton Inn in Moab, which while pricier, was also easily the nicest room we stayed in.) Our room at the Holiday Inn Express in Green River lacked both a fridge and a microwave - something nearly all of the other hotels had. The lighting was awful - green tinged compact fluorescent bulbs so dim that you feel as if only half of the lights are on in the room. The bedding was shabby and threadbare. The edges of the bathtowels were frayed in several places (photo uploaded). The tv was an old fashioned 25" analog tv. The wifi was slow: .69M down and .31M up. There was no desk in the room, just a round table crammed into the faux "sitting area." The bathroom had blue toothpaste stains splattered on the wall and the bathroom light switch faceplate. They both came off immediately with water, indicating that whoever cleaned the bathroom before we arrived didn't notice or didn't care. The carpet in the hallways and on the stairs was also threadbare and plainly hadn't been vacuumed in quite a while. The pool was cold and the hottub was tepid. If this room had been priced at ~$60 a night, the amenities offered would be understandable. At $140 a night, this is inexcusable. The parking lot here seems full. We get the distinct impression that the local franchisee is raking in money and not using any of it to maintain the property. As a direct comparison, we stayed in a Holiday Inn Express in Goodland Kansas (for $90) that featured a flat screen tv, a microwave, and a fridge, and blazing fast Internet connection. The pool and spa there were the perfect temperatures and included thoughtful extras like swim noodles. Maybe this is the "second best" hotel in Green River, UT. It certainly isn't up to par with similar properties in other cities. The only favorable thing I have to say about our room is that it does not seem to have any resident bedbugs. read more

I pulled in for an easy night from an east to west destination. Figured what the heck, why push it. There are several choices that were pet friendly. I chose this one because I figured it was the best chance of a decent bed and room. I paid double anything else in town. Everything was fine, until I tried to just relax and unwind and turn the television on. Spent 45 minutes trying to make the television work. Then I tried to call the front desk and the hotel phones don't work. So in adventure of another 30 minutes and the desk clerk finally settling with some cables got it to work. Absolutely defeated the purpose of stopping in Green River (which is a bit creepy) instead of trudging on to St. George or better yet Nevada. The mission of just relaxing from the interstate defeated. I just feel like the businesses here are only present to extract money from the traveler. Not really caring to provide the service that they overcharge for. By the way, there's maybe five other guests here, it's not busy season at all. My reminder, is never spend a penny in Utah!!! read more

Located about 40 miles away from Arches national park. Friendly staff and rooms are bit outdated but very clean, but it is not worth the 200+ I am paying for. There was a loud machines noise going on and off every 30 min or so right underneath my room which was really annoying and it knda affected my sleep throughout the night. No water pressure and the temperature was either scalding hot or freezing cold. -1 star for the grounds...in the morning when we were leaving the trash cans were overflowing full. They should be emptied every day! -1 star for the price. Holiday Inns have a better reputation than, say, a Super 8, but for over a hundred per night, I expect more from a hotel. -1 star for the extremely mediocre breakfast. Marginal hotel with incompetent/dishonest billing practices. Please check my review history and see that I hardly ever write negative reviews but this is going to be one. I recently stayed at this hotel Saturday April 25th for 1 night. A friend had booked 2 rooms for us and paid via hotwire. Upon check in we were asked to provide credit cards for incidentals which we gave them. So we got to our rooms which were marginal at best. They were not very clean, and frankly smelled of pet odor. Beds ok but wireless internet was painfully slow. The room was also noisy due to the nearby highway. At breakfast, the coffee was luke warm and the eggs seemed pre-made (almost artificial) and did not taste good. The kicker here is that we checked out the next morning and later at the end of the trip discovered that they had charged each of our credit cards for the room that night. Again, these had been pre-paid via hotwire. Upon calling them and notifying them of the mistake, they said that someone had made a mistake and that a refund would be promptly coming. After 5 days and not seeing a refund on my credit card, I called them again and they said that it takes 7-10 business days to process a refund. As a business owner who accepts credit cards, this is not the case and I can process a refund and have it in my customers accounts in 2 business days. That's it. Sorry for the negativity but these guys don't deserve our business. Tomorrow I'm calling Holiday Inn Express Corporate to see what can be done. I failed to update that I did receive a full refund within a couple of weeks of this post so they did end up taking care of my problem. read more

Better than a "chain name brand" because what you pay goes directly to the motel, not to a corporate office, and it shows: they put their energy into upkeep and providing top notch accommodations. Stopped here while driving cross-country... it's a shame that this is yet another Small Town, USA that is all but gone. Main St. is filled with moth-balled businesses and about all that is left are a few hotels, gas stations, and restaurants. The HIE is probably the newest and cleanest looking building in town. The rooms look recently-renovated. King Suite was VERY spacious and comparable to other HIE that we've stayed in recently. Pet Friendly hotel with grass area & poop bags outside, $10/pet/night fee (with weight limit). Free Breakfast has the usual HIE selection of hot & cold foods which is a big plus (beats waffles and toast). Pool looked nice. Only downer was no gym. WiFi is free, but slow (512 KB/s download). No issues with the bed/towels etc. read more

UPDATE: This is an update to the review I left after I was told that there was no room available for me at First Choice Inns at the Swell even though I had a confirmation through Hotels.com and was tagged as a no-show rather than refunded for the room. I had to file a complaint with the BBB and happily I finally received a refund. I changed the review to 2 stars because of that but everything could have been avoided if the hotel had been trustworthy to begin with regarding contacting Hotels.com to refund my money. I can't believe it was worth it to your business to have negative reviews on the internet. To any future travelers: If there are any issues at check-in, be sure to get printed receipts/explanations at the time. Hopefully, this will alleviate any problems for all parties. read more

What a great place to stay! I think it's under new ownership recently. Rooms are clean, up to date; bathroom is very nice. Refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave in the room :-) Clean and quiet; bed is large and comfortable - Far enough off the main interstate that you don't hear traffic noise, and there is very little traffic in tiny Green River. Very friendly staff - excellent experience at check-in. I am super, super happy with my choice of First Choice Inn. I am here to visit Arches National Park. It is about a 45-minute drive from here, but so worth it - great accommodations at a fraction of Moab prices! I would also recommend the taco truck down the street, La Pasadita. read more

The hotel was just as expected. There was plenty of parking for the moving truck, they offered free breakfast in the morning. Granted, it was kind of gross, but what do you expect from the eggs at a Holiday Inn? For what I paid here, I had an awesome stay at the Argosy Casino and Hotel in Kansas City. That room was the tits. This room was more like the belly button. Still, though, the room was clean and we were able to rent a movie for a buck. Not all bad. read more

Unforunetly, we got gouged here. I guess that is to be expected when you get caught in a sandstorm when you intend to camp on a holiday weekend. I would give it three stars but since we got gouged for a 50 dollar room, it gets two stars. THE ROOMS: Extremly small, yet clean, and all the basics you need. THE LOBBY: Small, yet clean, but not a place you want to hang out. AMENITIES: Pretty much non existant. They have no elevator so you have to lift your luggage up a flight of stars. Not such a big deal unless you have a cooler you want to bring into your room. THE PRICE: Maybe it is okay most of the time, but it was outrageous what we paid for our small, simpel room. BOTTOM LINE: Well, we were in a pinch, and the girl at the front desk took advantage of us. She said she only had one room left, and then when I agreed we would take it, ask me which floor I wanted to be on. I thought this was funny since she had just told me all the rooms were assigned and the only reason she had a room, was because someone just canceled last minute. That and the fact that the parking lot was 1/4 full. What can you say though, it was last minute, and a holiday weekend. read more

Nice, clean hotel. They have a very good area to walk dogs and have bags/trash cans at entrance. Breakfast was the usual eggs, pancakes, etc but area was clean and food was hot. Hotel price seemed a little high for a small town hotel, but we would certainly stay again. read more
