Our 2 less-than 2 year old water heater had the pilot light go out back on Tuesday, 02/15/2022. We were able to relight the pilot a few times, however, it wouldn't stay lit longer than a minute. When Pedro Ramirez showed up on Thursday 02/24/2022, he had to call to verify my address because they ladies who set up the appointment input an incorrect address for a neighbor's place across the court, no biggy. I thought he was there to fix the water heater. It says he's a plumber on his business card he handed me. Apparently, all he was there to do was to take a picture of the water heater to send some info to the warranty company so they could let them know what they would cover.... He then proceeded to tell me about how the younger guys getting into the plumbing field either just want to keep staying at home collecting their government checks for doing nothing or want to do the quickest/easiest work and try to get rich quick. He went on to say the plumbers actually working are overwhelmed and backed up 2-3 weeks... That's all fine and dandy, but would you fix my water heater so my family can have hot water again? If he would have been willing to just fix it right then and there, I would have handed him nice, crisp, hundred dollar bills to cover the service. Weighing words vs actions, based on his action (taking a photo of the water heater and then leaving), I'm left thinking that perhaps he's one of the younger guys he was telling me about, wanting to do the quickest/easiest work, instead of getting the job done. Here it is, Saturday, 02/26/2022, water, cold as the swiss alps, not feeling very confident this is going to be fixed for awhile still. Update - 02/28/2022 I've got to hand it to First Class Water Heaters. They really came through and got the situation I shared in my initial review taken care of. My initial review was crafted out of a true lack of understanding of the home warranty process regarding taking care of these issues, and it is a legit process. Nobody's happy about it, but it does take some time and the primary reason it took a week longer to get my water heater issue resolved was that the first company enlisted to call me (Budget Rooter), never did. I was even given their number to call if they hadn't called me within a day or so and I did. However, I wasn't able to reach anyone at Budget Rooter, nor even leave a message. After giving them a few days to reach out to me and them not doing so, I reported that and the home warranty company reached out to First Class Water Heaters. In short, in less than a full week from the time First Class Water Heaters were on the job, they got a new, higher quality water heater installed. Pedro Ramirez was the man who got the job done and although my first review didn't shed the best light on him, that was largely due to me not fully understanding the process (even though Pedro did give me a quick, basic explanation), and from the duress of already having been without hot water for over a week. In the end, Pedro is truly a good, honest, skilled plumber. I appreciate him, thank you sir, you did a great job. And this review wouldn't be complete without a thank you to Andrea from the office as well. She called me regularly to keep me in the loop and that was very much appreciated as well. I reported a problem with my failing garbage disposal to American Home insurance. They referred me to this outfit for replacement. One star for their quick initial call to schedule, date set for a week out. One star for picking up the phone to confirm my arrival window, on the day of the job. After that, no-show, no follow up call to maybe apologize for my wasted day sitting at home, maybe a reschedule? I would NOT recommend, TOTAL waste of time. Zenas came out to work on our water heater through our home warranty. Zenas was very thorough in explaining things to me and ended up coming out to replace the water heater. My Rinnai tankless water heater had no power. I called 6 other places and they couldn't come for 2 days. I called 1st Class Water Heaters and left a message. David called right back and came out to check in one hour just like he said he would. He found out within 5 minutes that it was a GFI circuit that had tripped. He pushed the button on the electrical outlet and we were back in business!! David saved the day! To top it off, then he said, no charge. You don't get that kind of honesty and integrity these days. Plumber Pedro Ramirez spent 5 minutes providing terrible advice on my I could not install a tankless water heater to solve my water heating needs. He said 6.5 gpm was inadequate gor my small family of 3 when I told him specifically that it was in my other home and worked. He was unwilling to provide an estimate on installing the unit I showed him and seemed happy to take his trip charge of $75, do nothing, offer nothing and leave. Waste of time and money. I spent the last 6 months making the decision of switching out my 26 year old 75 gallon hot water tank for a new tankless unit. In a matter of 10 minutes, Charles Yocum had a estimate to me and we were scheduling the install for the next week. He estimate came in 30% less than the 3 other estimates and with a reference from my Brother, it's all that i needed to feel comfortable to move forward with them. Contacted this company to come check out my water heater. My pilot light went out and was unable to get it to relight. They came out and were able to get it lit. Apparently a wire was no longer in the right position. It also appeared my gas valve wasn't working properly and I knew about. They were going to order the parts and told how much they were and cost of installation. Told them to do it. Back in November. Haven't heard from them since. Very nice staff. FIRST CLASS WATER HEATERS did an outstanding job for us today @ 9:50 am,They came out to see why our hot water pressure was almost non existent.. Trejon Edwards was the young man they sent out. He tried multiple things to make it work but eventually said it needs replaced.. He said he would call the Warranty Co. (We had just moved here 3 mo. ago) They gave him an auth. # and First Class called me back and said if you are going to be home Trejon can put it in today about 1:00pm. He was here by 1:00 and he put it in explained everything was respectful and pleasant. He also knew his stuff! At 3:15 he was done.. Doesn't get any better than this!! Completely incompetent. Specifically the ladies that I have spoken to over the phone have been AWFUL. Here's a quick rundown of my experience. I'm writing this after 3 weeks of no hot water and heat so I'm testy. -Didn't show up for scheduled appointment -Didn't call before RESCHEDULED appointment with 30 minute courtesy as promised -Reported to me that water heater needs replacing and that either their company or my home warranty company will call me in a couple days -Four days later I had not heard from anyone and called to check on status. Gal on phone said the water heater has a leak that needs to be repaired but they're not able to do it. *First off - what? First Class Water Heaters doesn't repair water heaters. That's just odd. *Second off - totally different than what your service person reported to me. -Then she says it's turned over to your home warranty company, it's out of our hands. Wonderful. Now I can work with a company that can actually help me. It's one thing to be totally incompetent, but rude and dismissive on top of that just created a totally unsatisfactory experience for your customers. My water heater started leaking and flooded my garage. Due to my warranty's American home shield unprofessionalism, lack of communication (I always had to call them to get an update), lack of urgency that I didnt have hot water and had kids in the house, it took six days for me to get hot water back on. My only consolation was the technician who came to replace the heater, Mr. Charles Yocum. He was professional, respectful, patient, and able to answer all the questions I had. He went further beyond the call of duty to help me understand how the water heater worked and how I can better take care of it. After years of trying to get the original repaired I finally had to replace the unit. I got a very reasonable quote on Monday and the work done on Wednesday. I would not use First Class Water Heaters again. They came to my home through my Old Republic Home Protection policy and failed to correct the issues, left a mess in my home and later claimed I did not pay the Trade Call Fee which was paid in the same day they arrived at my home. Charge me to pull the toilet to snake the line because they couldn't find the clean out and failed to reinstall the toilet correctly. Very disappointing. Update: I received a call from Carl at First Class Water Heaters. I appreciate that he seemed to want improve the situation. He did refund the costs of pulling the toilet. Look no further if you have a tankless water heater. I had the most impressive experience with this company. I made a call to my warranty company who referred me to a company that did not do tankless water heaters.(make sure you are specific that you have a tankless system) First Class water heaters was recommended and are certified. One quick phone call to a very helpful receptionist and we had a plumber out in 30 minutes as they had just had a cancelation. We had to replace the whole system and wait a few days for the new tank to ship. The plumber was installing the entire new system the day it was received. If I could give more stars I would. First Class Water Heaters was amazing! My nightmare started on a Sunday afternoon; my water heater started leaking! Called my useless home warranty company (First American) and they made my case an emergency since I have a baby at home. Of course they couldn't find no company to come out Sunday, only Monday. I bit my tongue and said Ok. Monday morning came and no one contacted me. I called and First American said no one was available until Tuesday!!! At this point, I escalated to a supervisor. Long story short, First Class was contacted by my home warranty and they quickly made my appointment for Monday from 1pm-3 pm. Jayme called me from First Class and asked if I was available sooner than 1pm. I said "Yes!" He showed up quickly and assessed the situation. Sure enough I needed a new water heater. He explained that my home warranty had to approve the work order and once they approve it, he would come back to fix it. I was stressed out because that meant another day without hot water. He assured me that he'd be looking out for my approval so he can come repair the water heater. Tuesday came, First Class called me first thing in the morning and said that my home warranty approved the work order and all they were waiting for is to pick up the new water heater and would dispatch someone out to my home on Thursday!. OMG!!!! I was mortified. First Class said they would call me back so they can see what they could do for me. And let me tell you, what they did for me was very kind, caring, and thoughtful. They made me feel they really cared about my situation. They asked if they can send out Jayme between 1 pm- 4pm. Of course I said yes. Then, rather than try to make it right, they wouldn't give me another appointment sooner than several days later. They had to special order my odd size water heater and made sure that they not only found a new heater that would fit (old heater was discontinued) but they rushed to get it installed the very next day. Problem fixed! There was a lead obstruction in my mainline pipe that backed up our toilets, bathtub our first Friday in our home. Fortunately, we did have a home warranty, but unfortunately, they couldn't get first-class water heaters out until Monday. And the problem finally got resolved.. pipe was replaced on Wednesday evening thanks to Dave, Eli, and Luis acting quickly to resolve the issue. The home warranty process is tedious and has a lot of red tape that held up the project when it should have been simple. Glad we could get this sorted before the weekend. Thanks guys. read more
