I had a very concerning experience with this plumbing company through a home warranty claim which seems to be a pattern with this company whenever there's a home warranty claim looking at other reviews. The original service request was for a toilet leaking at the base. When the plumber Beto came out the first time, he focused on the tank running instead of properly addressing the actual complaint -- the leak at the bottom of the toilet claiming that our tenant was complaining about the noise but he having the responsibility to read the dispatch and actually look at the toilet which he clearly could've seen was leaking at the base because it wasn't bolted securely to the flange. He left without addressing anything so we had to contact the warranty company again - On the follow-up, he addressed the toilet was leaking around the base and the bolts securing the toilet had rusted away. I was on my way there to meet him with my tenant but he was at the residence for only five minutes . The proper next step would have been to pull the toilet, inspect the wax ring, bolts, and flange, and then determine what was actually needed. Instead, without pulling the toilet or inspecting the flange, the plumber usu g his amazing X-ray vision submitted an estimate stating that the flange needed to be replaced and that additional non-covered work was required to "modify" the flange, adding about $400 in out-of-pocket charges. Modifications to a flange she had never actually seen when in fact the only issue may have been too rusted bolts costing all of $1.50 in parts. When I questioned how he could possibly know the flange needed modification without removing the toilet and inspecting it, he told me he did not need to pull the toilet because he "just knew." That is not a diagnosis I can trust. A contractor should not represent hidden work as necessary without inspecting the hidden condition first, especially when that creates extra non-covered charges to the customer. Based on my experience, I would be very cautious using this company for a home warranty claim. I felt the estimate included unsupported work that had not actually been verified. I am now disputing the charge and considering filing a complaint with the California Contractors State License Board. read more

The technician came out to look into my slow drain issues. He clearly stated verbally and in writing, that my existing pipe and P-trap connected to my tub were corroded and needing to be replaced. I said OK since I'm working with my home warranty company all I pay is a service fee and they cover the cost. I soon get notification from my home warranty company that that technician is telling them that a modification to my plumbing is required. And that they do not cover modification. Of course, I'm upset because the plumber at A1 Phoenix plumbing never mentioned verbally or in the right up , any sort of modification. Nor can I imagine why there would need to be a modification to replace piping and the P-trap that currently exists. It's all basic plumbing on a single-story home with ample crawlspace. So I had my home warranty company, contact A1 Phoenix, plumbing on the three-way to clarify the meaning of this. We speak to a dispatcher who indicated that there was a modification required to replace the piping, but that's all he could say because he was only the dispatcher and we would have to speak with a technician. I ask the dispatcher are you reading the notes from the write up on the work required and he said yes. I asked do those notes indicate a modification at all and he said no but that he's not a technician so we would have to talk to the technician. So I ask him why are you stating a modification is required if you don't even know that. He agreed to have the technician and a supervisor called me back to discuss it and I'm waiting for that call. In the meantime, I need to say, for anybody looking into this company to have them do work for them. Be careful... My home warranty company agreed to have a different company come out and give me a new assessment of what's needed to correct my problem. I have five properties. I'm happy I had this experience because I know out of the hundreds of plumbing companies in my area I will never ever use this one again. This plumbing company is a joke! They came out from my warranty company to snake a plugged drain. The Technician said he could not get the snake through and our warranty would not cover what was needed a clean out$$$$. I asked for an estimate on the work needed he said he would have it to me an a few hours. 6 days later and multiple calls from me and no response from them I called another plumber out for an estimate. The new plumber shows up and snakes the drain job completed in 15 mins. I called to talk with a supervisor with this company and the office person acted like the manager got no where. read more

Repair was speedy and fine. They would have received a five star review had they just left. However, while I was on a work call with my boss, the technician continued to tell me he "needed (my) phone" so he could "give (me) a guarantee for the work". As a woman alone at home with two men I did not know, being asked to give a technician my phone, I felt incredibly uncomfortable and unsafe in that moment. Instead of giving me a guarantee, the technician sent me a review and prodded me through the five stars before submitting. This is extremely unprofessional. A woman home alone should not be made to feel this way. You want a five star review, stand on the quality of your work and leave the job like a professional. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE. They overbook appointments and cancelled last minute stating the plumber had an accident and had to go to the hospital. I rescheduled the appointment. The next time, he didn't show up after until 2 hours from the appointment time. I called the number and they said the plumber had a meeting with the manager in the morning and it's taking longer at his prior appointment so everything is running slow. This made me realize no accident happened on the prior occasion. They overbook themselves and then have to cancel someone in the day since they can't cover everything. BE AWARE. Finally, the person shows up 2 hours late and just fiddled around in the toilet tank and wasn't willing to repair anything. After some arguing, he said I will replace a flapper and that's it. He did that but that didn't fix the leak in the toilet. He submitted a false report to the insurance company stating that everything was working. read more

If you get assigned Gerardo, ask for another person. He came and mentioned that he would have to but through into the walls to fix the pipe for faucet leak it was almost $300 per faucet between AHS and paying out of pocket ($600 additional after I already paid $125 for diagnostic) Got a local plumber to come out and I paid $100 for labor and parts to replace the leak same day, no pipe modifications and no damaging the walls ... sounds like Gerardo is trying to scam ppl for more moneyzzz read more

The seal around the drain in my bath tub was corroded and leaking into my garage so I called my home warranty company, who dispatched A1 Phoenix Plumbing. They came and made the repair; we waited two weeks to be sure it held, and then got the area in the garage that the pipe had leaked into re-sheetrocked. Two months later we took a deep bath, the water came out the overflow, and immediately started flooding the garage.  Apparently the gasket behind the overflow had not been properly sealed. Because it was outside their 30 day guarantee, my home warranty company refused to reopen the original case.  A1 ignored my calls and texts, and the home warranty company's calls and messages as well. I had to open a new case with the home warranty company and pay the case fee over again to have a different company come out and re-do the repair.   When I told the tech from the new company the story I began: "So, two months ago we had a leak and A1 Phoenix Plumbing..." and he just rolled his eyes like he'd seen it all before. Looks like A1 might do good work if you contract with them directly, but don't have them do your work through a warranty company. read more

Truly terrible experience. Had to work with them bc they were assigned by the home warranty. If this is your situation, do what I should have done and pester your home warranty until they give you a new contractor. Took 4 weeks to get a water heater replaced because they took 10 days to respond to the initial request, then ordered the wrong part twice. They blamed the home warranty and took no accountability and were defensive. I know I sound like a meanie now, but I do lead with respect and kindness. They requested prepayment through Zelle, but also required a credit card to schedule the appointment. I told the technician I'd prepaid, he charged me again anyway. I'm now having to call and email and generally rage to get them to refund me. I have to wait for the second, fraudulent charge to clear on my card before I can dispute it. They DID replace the water heater tonight, after a month of no hot water. I'm not hopeful it will hold, but I'm bitter and cynical. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. read more

A1 PHOENIX PLUMBING (ALAMEDA) One of the worst service providers we've dealt with. We were assigned this company through American Home Shield, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The first technician gave us a report stating that everything was covered under warranty. Later, a second plumber came and said the first one didn't diagnose the issue properly -- and then changed the conclusion to say it was not covered. For two weeks, they kept going back and forth trying to figure out what the actual issue was. There was no proper diagnosis, no clear communication, and no accountability. A1 Phoenix Plumbing was amazing! We used their service under our home warranty, Fidelity, to fix our kitchen sink clog. They were able to come the next day after filing our claim in the window of time promised. Their scheduling staff were incredibly kind and helpful. Mario Gonzales and his crew came to fix the clog and it was done in under an hour. They replaced a gasket that was broken and performed multiple trials to ensure the clog was gone and the leaks were fixed. Mario took his time to explain to me the process and what exactly they were doing. Im sure it can be annoying to have homeowners ask questions during a job, but I was genuinely curious and wanted to know more. I appreciate their kindness and time!
