The issue I had was that it took a while for our water to get hot and once hot, it did not get very hot. David came over and helped me fix my tankless water heater in no time (he diagnosed that the pump blew and stopped working-- so he replaced it, and a very competitive price ). Prior to calling them, I had another service out that couldn't diagnose the issue and simply said "call the manufacturer." The manufacturer told me how to turn up the temperature , but that didn't resolve the issue of having to wait 5-10 minutes for warm water either. My water heater started leaking on a Saturday evening. I put a request with my home warranty. I knew nobody would come out on a Sunday but first thing Monday morning, I get a text from Carlos Gomez asking to come earlier then planned. Being a single mother, I've had repair guys trying to rip me off or try to get one over me. So I hit him with a lot of questions. He answers everyone of them and understood why I was asking them. Highly recommend calling anyone BUT First Class. They were sent out to replace my water heater. When they placed it originally, they did not brace it despite the invoice clearly stating "all codes & mods." They came back and strapped it. I called for an inspection (after waiting a month for the permit) and the inspector said it was not properly braced. They had to come back out. I feel like if "Water Heater" is in your title, you should really know what you're doing and do it Really Well!!! I hate to see how they handle other plumbing issues. Now the pilot light keeps going out and it's leaking and they won't come back out. Water heater was installed 2/7/2020 - less than 90 days ago. Very poor service. read more

Updated: The owner contacted me and took ownership of the issue and didn't try to write it off or explain it away, which I appreciated. I would use them again and recommend them with the one suggestion of following up with the office and don't rely on them to get back to you. The simple fact the guys who came to my house respected my time and did what they could to get my water heater up and running faster then it could have taken is truly appreciated. While it was a serious issue, we are human and bound to make a mistake now and then, and this one was easily fixed by PG&E and owned by the owner of the company. My water heater broke and home warranty sent them out. The guy who came out was AWESOME, he was able to get it fixed quicker than I thought. However next day I smelled gas, shut off the gas line to the heater and called the company about getting someone out ASAP to check their work. I did call within 15 minutes of close and left a message and called back twice more to no answer. I called PGE who came and fixed their work. I was going to give them 5 stars, even with this issue because it was small, PGE guy was not that concerned, but it now has been over 24 hours and they have not returned my call. If a customer calls with such an issue, I'd expect a timely call back and very disappointed the office personnel can't return a call. Pro: Awesome plumber in my opinion with the issue. The service and professionalism displayed by the service tech, Jayme Perez, was very refreshing. It was obvious he took pride in his work. Since moving here, we have found it difficult to find service professionals who actually do what they say and in a prompt , experienced manner. So many times there are more breaks than working, quality of work is severely lacking, etc. some "installers" are using Utube or someone on the phone to walk the job thru step by step. Let me get the positives out of the way first. They showed up when they said they would. They completed the work in a relatively prompt manner. They were friendly. The new water heater appears to be functioning in the manner in which it should. What triggers the negative review are the following: This company was offered to us in conjunction with our home warranty insurance provider. We had no prior experience with them in the past. In making the decision as to whether to "cash out" from the insurance company versus using the offered service provider, we went with this company only because we didn't believe we would be given actual costs to replace our water heater. Based upon our research, we were expecting the uncovered costs to be relatively minimal as these included necessary updates due to City/County building regulations. In fact, after agreeing to the insurance company coverage, we were told the the expected "additional costs" would be nearly as much as the cost to obtain a private plumbing service (e.g more than $1,500.00) and after repetitive requests we finally obtained a proposed list of necessary updates. The replacement water heater offered was reported to be one of their standard models and the price listed was consistent with the cost located online. It was not an upgrade as we had a very good quality water Heater before (Hoyt) which had lasted since the late 80's! In fact, many of the listed additional expenses were not provided or, would have been included with any standard installation of a water heater as the items "come in the package" - e.g. water heater safety strap which was charged as an additional cost at $100. An installation of a water heater requires a permit according to the information this contractor provided. They charged $200. According to the County, this can be obtained (and is recommended by the County due to Covid issues) by the contractor online. There is a fee listed at $75.00. The company added in a cost for a "stand" to raise the water heater off of the floor, $115.00. The stand and structure already in existence, which held the defective water heater as well as our furnace, required no modifications and was in excellent repair. They did nothing to modify it. The drain pan was another charge which is not an upgrade and not required according to the County website. It is available at Home Depot at approximately $17.00. The company charged us $175.00. The T & P drain was not provided as they utilized existing drainage. They charged us $150.00. The flue to vent the water heater was an additional charge of $150.00, yet First Class Water Heaters did not provide this item as they were able to utilize the existing materials and flue currently in place. These were all charges, in our opinion, which were bogus and unnecessary. This company obviously figured they could obtain duplicate payment for the service from the insured (us), as the insurance company would have denied the costs as duplicative. We have yet to receive the permit or the inspection from the County which will be necessary to ensure the installation was done according to Code, as well as to verify the licensed installation to any potential purchaser of our home in the future. Prior to departure, I was given no other instructions as to concerns, issues to expect, or information regarding the water heater (pilot light instructions, control settings, advisories or maintenance schedule, etc.). I was told merely that I should vent the system by opening the tub spigot first. There was no reference to any more than a single tub or any order. There was no discussion concerning the potential for rusty water to be noticed or any potential health risk; how long to flush the lines, etc. Indeed, there was a great deal of rust colored water which subsequently came from several tub and sink locations, and required a significant amount of flushing before it finally cleared. Prior to departing, instead of removing the construction debris from the defective water heater, Jayme dumped the waste materials into our Green Waste canister, which I didn't notice immediately as he had asked me to turn the water on to the house again. He should have done this himself, however this allowed him the opportunity to dump the debris while I was gone for a few minutes. Very unprofessional as well as unethical. Everyone knows the green trash buckets are for Green garbage, especially as there is a sticker on the top indicating what is allowed in that bucket. I had to remove this trash from the Green Canister and attempt to fit it in our landfill (Black) bucket. It did not fit, and had to be divided over two pick-up periods. Based upon these issues, we cannot recommend this company as their behavior and seeming dishonesty in double charges, and lack of forthright professional communication made our experience substantially less than ideal. I was having problems with my tankless gas-fired water heater that required evaluation and repair. Specifically, the unit was repeatedly making a loud explosive noise that caused my house to shake. I called First Class Water Heaters because they are listed by the manufacturer (Noritz) as authorized to provide repairs on my brand new unit (less than 1 year old). On a positive note, the company was initially very responsive, sent a repair technician the following day, and did not charge for the evaluation (consistent with their promise). Unfortunately, the technician had no idea how to diagnose the problem and told me to call the manufacturer for guidance (which was a strange suggestion since he is the repair expert). That said, he promised to get back to me with potential repair options. Since I didn't hear from the company for several days, I followed up with First Class Water Heaters and asked about next steps. They first told me that they were waiting for repair suggestions from the manufacturer, then claimed that they needed to perform a descaling process recommended by the manufacturer. They said that this process would cost $250 and that I should sign up for 2x/year descaling to meet manufacturer guidelines (for a total of $500/year). After this call, I never heard from First Class Water Heaters again. While waiting for the followup call that never came, I reviewed the official service manuals for my unit and found that, because the water delivered to my house is relatively "soft", there is NO RECOMMENDED descaling. More importantly, there is no relationship between the proposed descaling procedure and the explosive noise being made by my water heater. Since the company was unable to diagnose the actual problem, seemed uninterested in figuring out relevant solutions, and tried to lock me into a completely unnecessary $500/year service plan, I decided to look for another local repair company. The next company I found sent a technician who was able to diagnose the problem and work with the manufacturer to identify solutions. He also told me that descaling was not needed for a brand-new unit and would have no impact on the actual problem. I worry that a less educated consumer would have signed up for an unnecessary $500/year service plan that failed to solve the identified problem. Not a great look for this company. It's also unfortunate because homeowners shouldn't have to spend hours on the phone with tech support, combing through service manuals, and researching local water quality data just to determine whether they are getting legitimate advice from a local skilled repair professionals. read more

Spoke to the owner and he did care we had no hot water the whole weekend while they were off Sat & Sun, including Friday and Monday. The reason for the suboptimal rating is a "Lack of transparency". They invoiced me $200 for pulling the city permit and confirmed that the work is complete. I never received a permit and my emails were not answered. Upon calling I am told that they will check with their permit department if the permit is ever pulled. Also, they do not ensure inspection. You are responsible for the inspection by the city. Initially, I was told that the permit will be taken care of, and now a different story. Also, they refused to give me an itemized receipt (required for tax purposes). I am asked to check with home warranty if they can send me itemized received for non covered charges. Why will home warranty send me a receipt for the payment I made to First class water heater? In summary, not a trustworthy company to hire. I must admit that also the outcome was poor but Monique (the lady who answered) was courteous and professional in the communication). read more

My home warranty sent this company out. My tankless water heater kept giving error codes and they attempted a repair after they called the manufacturer for suggestions. When they left, the error still happened. On the second visit they attempted additional cleaning and broke it all together. I currently have no hot water now. They came on a Saturday and said they have no senior techs that can help. They suggested I call the home warranty and go with ANOTHER COMPANY!!! Dude.... WTF?!?!? My wife is starting a new job on Monday and she can't take a shower! I chewed a new ass to my home warranty company for having this company on the list of approved contractors. I typically don't take the time to post reviews, but our experience with the plumber First Class sent to our home at the end of summer was awful. I should have posted this sooner, but we thought our home warranty company would cover the service fee. They won't. More on them later. We had a sewer backup, raw sewage coming up into the shower. We had only owned the home for a few months and our realtor bought us a one year policy with Fidelity National Home Warranty (whom I can also NOT recommend). To their credit, since we could not shower or use any toilets (water was also gushing out from below the master toilet under the house), First Class sent a plumber the same day; unfortunately, the guy was worthless. I could get past the fact that he communicated poorly and that his tone was dismissive and that he was dressed unprofessionally (no clean uniform shirt with a name tag etc; he is the only contractor who has ever walked into our house with dirty boots and not covered then first.) if he had fixed the problem. But, immediately, he asks where our sewage clean out is. Our house was built in Carmichael in the late 70s; it has to have one, but we did not know where it was. The FCWH plumber walked our yard for a few minutes, looked around inside, told us we had no clean out and he could not help us. I called Fidelity National while he was still here and they also told me we were out of luck. They could not do any work without a clean out nor could they recommend any plumber to come install one even at our cost. Nobody pointed out that clean outs had been code in California for decades. The First Class plumber left quickly, mumbling that he would call the home warranty company and help us get someone else out, which never happened, and so we called a REAL plumbing company based on the yelp reviews, Boyd plumbing. The Boyd plumber found the clean out in the front planter of our house, a fairly large and easy to see concrete lid, in LESS THAN ONE MINUTE; right where he would expect to find it, he said. He quickly cleared the clog, camera- scoped the pipes (all were good, no foreign objects or tree roots or anything that does not belong down a toilet). He also replaced the wax seal for the toilet as the backup led to its failure. We assumed that Fidelity National would pay at least for the clean out, or not charge us the service fee for the worthless plumber from First Class. Nope. They denied us any claim, we had to pay over 500 dollars fo fix the problem, and worst of all, FN insists we pay the service fee for the house visit from the guy from First Class who never found the clean out. We filed an appeal, which they denied, even though we put the Boyd plumber on the line with one if Fidelity National's technicians as he was doing the work and forwarded a detailed invoice. But they are about to get their own review. Clearly, many people have had a better experience with First Class, but they have at least one plumber, if he was an actual plumber, who should not be in the business. I wish I had caught the name of the inept plumber from First Class, but I didn't. And I wouldn't recommend a home warranty with Fidelity National even if it is a gift. Good luck. read more

He replaced a new water heater in less than a few hours and used all precautions under the county health guidelines in regards to the Covid 19. These folks had come to give us a second evaluation. We had originally been assigned a different company, who had been negligent and sloppy. This almost resulted in my household having to replace our water heater out of pocket. The techs they sent out were quick but thorough.
