Ignition coil that fell apart when mechanic tried to get plugs out

When I first came in back in December 2022, they were nice. Pushy but nothing I didn't expect. Walked out of there hours later, with my car. As I was driving off the lot, the car started acting up. (this was of course after a supposed look by their mechanic, like I assume all cars are to be looked over before selling, when I tried to call back to speak to said mechanic, he was no longer there). It was back in with them to have the same mechanic look at it a couple days later because the issue persisted and I still wasnt 100% sure what the issue was. Soon after, I noticed, 2 tears in the upholstery, and the inside of the passenger side door up front, was separated from frame and rattles while driving. Starting in March 2023, I had to take it in for brakes, rotors, and calipers at the cost of $860 because the brakes were sticking. Then in July 2023, I had to replace all the tires for low tread (as in they were surprised I hadnt blown a tire yet because it was so thin) @ the cost of $1300...Same month, I had to spend another $600 on spark plugs and ignition coil, because it disintegrated in the mechanics hand when he tried to pull it out to replace the plugs. Then in August 2023, I spent $600 on a diagnostic, which came back saying I needed about $4000 worth of various work (A/C compressor/gasket, Exhaust pipe/muffler/gasket, pressure relief valve)... Thats not too mention what I believe is the ER brake rubbing, the radio cutting in and out along with dashboard lights flickering low/bright, off and on and 4wd system turns off on its own periodically. Now I realize that wear and tear happens, but a lot of this stuff is not because I've had the car. Most of it should have been caught before the car was put on the lot for sale.

To shorten what is a long and boring story, I "paid " the full amount of my loan with them, by credit card. The amount I paid was directly FROM THE BILL THEY HAD SENT ME, not an estimate, but a clear bill. So I paid the entire amount ON THE BILL off, including a late fee I had accrued. When I went to find my car title, I realized I had never received it when I paid off the car. They had sent "bills" but since I had moved and expected nothing , after paying off amount, I hadn't seen them. When I do call they show me a bill in which I owe the "interest " I they had charged me, in the month of my last billing statement. Again, this was interest they had charged me on their and not stated any amount! What ended up being their extraordinary "explanation" when I went in to get the title and sort it out, is that they DONT INCLUDE THE AMOUNT OF INTEREST THEY HAVE CHARGED YOU ON THE BILL YOU ARE PAYING! They send you a follow up "receipt" that breaks it down, but they do not put it in the breakdown of the very bill you have in your hand. Notice the good reviews on here are all that they were desperate, had bad credit (I was) and they act NICELY. Which they do! While screwing you over for every penny possible. I ended up paying not only $244 (the hidden from the bill interest for the month I paid) but additional interest for not knowing I owed them this money. I went into this with my eyes open, yes. Any company in the business of "giving" people loans that charge upwards of 27% interest are seriously questionable company. But this last move is so blatantly unethical the word needs to be spread far and wide ACME FINANCIAL PREY ON THE DESPERATE AND POOR, BUT DO IT WITH A SMIlE!

(mistake... we should have shopped around) Problems: - Required use of their own inspector to evaluate the home.... and charged us for the cost. (the primary loan had already had a very well detailed inspection and was 4 times the amount of this loan) - No communication about the inspection even happening. The selling realtor had already taken the lock box off the home and there was a mad rush to let the inspector into the house. - Really poor communication regarding what was happening with the loan process. No notification on whether our loan was approved. - Late in getting the loan documents to escrow causing us to wait 45 minutes in the lobby of their University branch to sign the loan. I would understand a little bit of this if we were a risky applicant. Problem is that we have impeccable credit and are very well qualified. Is this really how they treat customers who will make their payments?

I'm on my fourth SAAB that only he touches, and have been working with him for over 20 years. I see some reviews that say hes been difficult or unfair and I can only assume it was double sided. I'm a customer that drops by whenever, always pestering him with questions and expecting him to turn same-day miracles because I don't like to be without my car. He's gotten far too busy to oblige me anymore, but he's never been rude. I buy SAABs because I love them, and he's the one that helped me to appreciate them. His first repair on my first SAAB, I was driving home at 11pm when my front wheel fell off and passed me. I slid on what was left for half a block. I had picked this car up from a friend for $150 and it was thrashed, so.... So I called a tow and had it dropped off at his place. In the morning when I called him, he says, yea yes I'll take a look, it'll be done when you get off work. How much? Don't know yet. 6:00 I go to pick it up, it was ready, and the Bill was $65.00. That was 20 + years ago, but he has ALWAYS BEEN FAIR, done great work that he's stood behind, and has ALWAYS TREATED ME respectfully. He kept that first SAAB running for 2 years, then finally said we needed to put it away, but look, he said- "I've built you a new one, should you want it". That car ran for ever. The latest SAAB is a 9-5 that I bought from his lot. I made a down payment, drove home, and a freak problem popped up. There had been a small crack in a spot where you'd never see it on the cooling tank for the turbo that finally broke. I'd driven it less than 2 hours, and I said to Moe, "You gotta fix this". He reminds me that I've bought the car, and he won't be fixing things for free when they come as a surprise to me, because they sneak up on him as well. So he charged me towing $100, and fixed the $400 problem the next day. Even though it could have never been caught prior and really wasn't his problem. I've NEVER had any problem larger than that with him. He will always explain the situation, what he has to do, and advise the worth of it to me. Wouldn't fix a blown head gasket on one car because it was about time for other parts to wear down as well. See, he won't just take your money- he wants a happy, life long customer. This is his passion, and I'm so happy to see how much he's grown since we met. Because I used to tell ANYONE WHO'D LISTEN about the magic mechanic on 85th that treated a person fairly and refused to do it any other way. In closing , this man here is an artisan of motor vehicles, a lover of his trade, and the most honest man whose palm I've ever crossed with silver. You absolutely have nothing to lose meeting him, and you just may gain a lifelong mechanic/friend that will make that part of your life less aggravating. Someone you can trust, and not lose sleep worrying if he's treating you wrong. It's just not in his nature. And as for the variety of vehicles on his lot for sale, he'll be honest about which ones he's examined and if he thinks they'll fit your needs. (Yes, I'm adding "honest used car salesman" to his accolades!). Look, if the guy even cared about Yelp reviews I don't know. I think he's unaware of them. But his attitude and professionalism make it look like he wants them all to be 5 star, for his own pride, for his reputation. For how he's viewed by his peers. Old school honesty lives at Moe's Automotive. Plus I dare you not to crack a smile every time you start your conversation with a "Hey Moe". Look into this shop!
