When I got home later that day I seriously almost drove past my driveway; I didn't recognize my yard it looked so good! I put off really taking care of my front yard landscaping for too long and I was on the radar of the HOA, starting to get fines. I had tried doing it myself for a while and think I was just barely getting by until lately. I didn't want to pay for a landscaper to come do it for a long time because I thought they would be too expensive. I really don't know what I was thinking now. The prices were excellent and I definitely got my money's worth! I could not have done what they did and my front yard looks the best it has in years! I love it! I called these guys just a few days ago and they were so professional and squared away when I called. They put together an estimate for my front yard and laid out details on what I wanted. They even had it emailed to me the same day, just a short while after I called. I saw the estimate, liked the price they quoted and they scheduled to come do the work just a few days later. I was so impressed and relieved at how easy this company made everything! I really felt taken care of as a customer. :) I don't take the time to leave many reviews but I was soooooo happy with the job this company did I wouldn't feel right until I did. And the price I paid was fantastic for the quality of work they provided. The attention to detail! Wow! I will definitely be calling them for all my landscaping needs and recommending them as well. They are quick to respond to my service requests and easy to work with and they provided me with a range of services (ficus and palm trimming, one-time clean-ups, sprinkler repairs, and landscape design). Service has gone down hill significantly. We use them monthly to clean up the yard - trim the bushes and shrubs, kill the weeds, blow out the leaves and debris, etc. And at first they did an adequate job. They email every month with a schedule day. Every trip it's 2 or 3 Hispanic guys... and my beef with that is that none of them admit to speaking English. How am I supposed to communicate what I need or want if they cannot understand English? I have to email "Victor" and try to explain what I want done. And there is always an extra fee for that. We have several lantana bushes, a large desert sage bush and 3 or 4 fairy dusters in the front. My preference is that they be trimmed in a way that looks "natural" and not sheared into balls (what's with that, anyway). They have finally stopped turning my shrubs into cotton balls, but I still cannot get them to trim the fairy dusters to look natural. About 3 months ago, I asked them to just cut everything back and let it grow out new. They wanted to charge me an additional $75. On more than one occasion they have just not shown up on the scheduled day. Of course there was no warning and no compensation - just an email at the end of the day rescheduling. If I had tried to do that, there would be a "service fee" for their inconvenience. I recently got an email from "Victor" telling me that their costs have risen (hasn't everyone's?) and they were raising my monthly rate by almost 30%. No thanks. That was all I needed to make the change that I should have made a year ago -- I kicked them to the curb. Looking for a new landscaper now. read more

I signed a contract with them to take care of my lawn front and back. price would be $1500. was supposed to be done on the 31st of July. they wanted to reschedule. then they cancelled. no reason as to why. the owner led me to believe I could trust him. if he felt there was a problem with the price, he could've tried to renegotiate but no. and no answer as to what's going on. We needed the fall leaves cleaned up on our cul-de-sac lot, 13,000 sq. ft. We called 2 companies and received an estimate the next day from First Option. We waited for the other company to call us back, to set up an estimate, 2 days later we called First Option and had them do the job. Glad we did, they cleaned up the leaves including those that blew on our neighbors gravel lawn, and went well beyond even that! They did a quick weeding of our flower bed (it's a small one) cleaned around and in our garden beds, and for a very nominal fee mowed our lawn area. They did it thoroughly, quickly and well. THANK YOU First Option! We have already recommended you to others and will be contacting you in the future for more work. Called for an estimate of my front yard to trim some bushes & blow out leaves... gave me an estimate of $160...!!! SERIOUSLY...???!!! Who do they think they are to even suggest that high of a price??? They should change their name to LAST OPTION LANDSCAPE...!!! read more

Instead, we had their employees defecate in our yard and they allowed our grass to die without informing us that the sprinkler system had malfunctioned! I would NOT recommend this company to anyone! Signed a contract to trim trees and plants naturally, remove and replace green rocks with crushed granite. Stressed that wanted some mounding added and when complete the yard would be firm leaving minimum footprints. All bricks were to be removed. Sadly it was not completed as requested and during the work reached out several times for owner to contact me to discuss, Victor never called or replied to text or email messages. During the process they left tire marks on sidewalk and driveway. I gave them a check when they finished sine it was obvious they didn't care. Expensive lesson for me but hipe others can learn from ny mistake in choosing First Option, keep looking for a company that actually has customer service and follows the contract they write. Got a bid on a job, emailed back to ensure we were both on same page but only performed part of the job. When I questioned I was told to call the employee who performed the work --I refused, that's the job of the business owner. Then they came back and said they never agreed to all of the work ---funny, that's not what the bid and email reply say. Would not recommend. read more

Quality of service has been declining recently. Company sends an email to confirm appointments--always with a reminder that if YOU cancel without adequate notice, you will be subject to a fee. In April 2021, I had an email confirming an appointment for Monday 4/12 (no time specified). I remained home all day so that I could point out some problems with irrigation--but no one showed up. In the late afternoon, I received an email stating that my appointment had been rescheduled for Saturday, 4/17--again, no time specified and no explanation about WHY. I then spent the entire day on Saturday waiting--but again, a NO SHOW and no explanation about WHY. When I sent an email asking what happened, I received an automated "OUT OF THE OFFICE UNTIL NEXT TUESDAY" response. On Monday, 4/19, just after 7 a.m., two older men I had never seen before showed up to start working with no advance notice, but I sent them away. In addition, even though I always mail my payment to the company's PO Box within one day of service, I have twice received automated emails telling me that my payment was 7 days overdue. In the first case, the check had already cleared my bank account, and in the most recent case last month, the office admitted that they had my check, but had not yet processed it. That's it for me--time for a new landscape company. read more

This company is HORRIBLE!! We have been with them for a year now and they literally reschedule every other time... and even Reschedule 2 x in a row. They are Ridiculously Unreliable and honestly don't do that good of a job... they skip out on bushes. Do yourself a favor and go with another service. read more

Terrible service. Complained from day one about ocotillos only to be told they needed time to root. Continued to complain and finally told them to come remove. They did a terrible job planting the trees and shrubs, using heavy rock and poor soil mixture. The regular clean up service was also poor, repeatedly blowing debris around the yard and into the pool with little effort to clean up after themselves. Very unprofessional and given the number of good landscape services the the area would not recommend them but encourage finding another more reliable and professional company. read more

Our yard was in need of some work after all of the rain that hit us this winter. It had been a couple of months since we had anything done. I googled and yelped landscapers near me and first option landscape popped up. I must say their google reviews are much better than the yelp ones. My husband and I spoke with JC (That's what I believe his name was) They came by that very day to give us a free estimate. It was a little steep for us so they had a negotiation option in the email and we managed to work something out. They showed up right when they said they would and in about an hour our front and backyard looked amazing! They did an excellent job and I look forward to having them come once or twice a month to keep our yard looking great! They cleaned up all of the weeds, trimmed the bushes, fished out the debris in the pool that made its way in it after all of the trimming and leaf blowing, sprayed for future weeds, and even moved our trampoline to mow the grass underneath. I am very pleased with their service and would highly recommend. read more

For two years in a row, my two Mexican fan palms are trimmed to my liking with no fuss. Left a check taped to a door and they came by, trimmed my 45' and 30' tree and were done in 30 minutes. After my previous 1-star review and frustration w/the work done, I was contacted by the First Option Landscape team. They offered to come out and clean up the work to right the wrong they had done. It took nearly a month of back-and-forth emails, several visits by their team to discuss the issues I had and point out the problems, and 2 separate trips by their team to get it as close to fixed as I could ask given the situation, but they did clean up the branches cut mid-branch, bringing them back to the joints. The tree looks better now, even if there are still a few branches that could use some cleaning up. On the whole, this was a pretty awful experience. Still, I'm glad they dealt with it and took it upon themselves to clean up the mess they had made. I only wish that I didn't have to keep showing them what the problems were - as a landscaping company, they should've been able to see the problems right away. I still won't call them again but I am glad that they focused on customer service in this situation. read more

Wow this the third time we have this landscaper!! They are great. First they come to see the job then they send a detailed email with the estimate. They sent an email with a 4 hour estimated time of arrival. They then show up with workers that actually listen to what you want done. We had 3 trees trimmed, two citrus one heritage live oak. When they left all trees were trimmed to perfection!! And they blew out the yard !! Really a very professional operation. read more

I hired First Option for about a year for monthly service. When they came they did an acceptable job, nothing special but still worth the price. One day my mesquite tree in the front yard fell and needed to be replaced with at least a 24" box tree (per HOA requirements). I scheduled the removal of the old tree and planting of new tree, and took a day off of work to supervise the work. They never showed up... The next day the crew came around 4:00 in the afternoon to remove the old tree and said they'd be back the next day to plant the new tree. They didn't show up... I emailed them and they said they'd plant it next week. The day of I get an email saying it was much to hot outside to dig the hole, and they'd plant the tree at my next service. That day comes and they planted a 24 gal tree instead of a 24" box tree and tried to pass it off as the same thing. So I fired them... Through emails they eventually fessed up to it and offered to replace the tree free of charge and were reasonable by removing the tree they planted from my final invoice without a fight. But in the end I really wanted a landscaper that was more reliable and trustworthy. read more

We hired them to clear the weeds from our yard. First of all, their idea of clearing was to hack away at our landscaping with shovels to just cut off the top of the weed. This left debris all through our rocks, some of which is still there. Because of this method, none of the small weeds were removed, and only about half of them were sprayed. I spent 30 minutes respraying them with round up today because after almost a week, they weren't dying. Also because of this method, my rocks are now uneven in places, the colors are mixed in spots, and there is even dirt showing in other places. I raised my concerns to the workers the day they were here, and they assured me that the yard would look fabulous by the time they left. Well, it doesn't. There are a ton of branches from the tree still lying under it, and the yard looks terrible. I know what their response to this will be; that my yard was filled with weeds. No kidding. That's why I hired a team to do it instead of trying to do it myself! I was very, very disappointed with the service. read more

Just unreliable and unprofessional!! It seems that my problem is the same as everyone else. My business isn't their priority, nor is accepting fault when they drop the ball. Their customer service is just the beginning of why "First Option Landscaping" should be your LAST option for landscaping or anything for that matter. They were very rude and unprofessional when explaining why they couldn't keep their appointment and if missing one appointment wasn't enough they missed their second as well. My fault for trusting the manager JC or Victor that they'd actually show up on time and do a landscaping service. On the other hand call Aztec landscaping and ask for Frank!! I had my Palo Verde tree cleaned up by First Option and was pleased by their work, the guys were right on time, brought decent sized truck to put the debris into and also helped clean up any branches that fell into my neighbors yard. All the guys were very nice and moved fast! read more

On phone call and before the started the work I indicated that I wanted our four palms skinned. When they were done, we walked the front yard - but didn't check out the back yard where the palms were. My mistake. They didn't touch the palms. I called them four times in the week after the work was done to get the work corrected. They called me back once five days after the first call. They said that I never asked for the palms to be skinned - and that this wasn't included with the price already paid. Very disappointing. read more
