Apple cider donuts are my favorite fall treat! I'm always pleasantly surprised by how plump First Stop's donuts are. The cider also hits the spot. I go to Carter Mountain every fall but I've found their donuts have gotten pretty small over the years. It's nice to know there's somewhere much closer (and better) for my fix, and available throughout the year! There's usually a line but they keep it moving pretty quickly. Oh my days, i've literally been dreaming about the moment I could stuff an apple cider donut in my mouth for real.... I hear about first stop donuts from some friends and decided to hunt it downat the farmers market which is literally one of the best decisions i've ever made?!? Donuts have also never been one of my hyperfixations, so I was suprised when I tried this one out. To preface, I think hot donuts from krispy kreme have something off and somewhat eggy about them the one time I went, so I was hesitant about the warm donut. It's so so soft and fluffy it literally warms up ur whole soul especially since it was a bit chilly. I love that they weren't overbearing but a perfect compliment to a coffee! Delicious donuts! The line was a bit long, but to be expected and well worth the wait. They are made fresh, and pretty light (not super dense). Affordable as well, I spent about $8. PS I love the sign on the bus about their hours. read more

Went to the farmers market to grab some of the blueberry lemon donuts. It is a food truck or bus I should say that is brightly colored. They take card or cash (tips welcomed). Service was excellent; you place your order, pay and move to the left like the electric slide and wait patiently for your donuts. They are freshly made...you can't beat a warm donut that just melts in your mouth. This was my second visit and the apple cider donuts are just as delicious! read more

[Pandemic review - 2020] A friend recommend these when I came to visit Richmond. The truck moves its location, so you will want to check their social media to know where they are at. We got up early to be among the first to get them. That day they were selling apple cider donuts and hot apple cider (see pics for the prices). I decided to go with the dozen without any dipping sauce. One of my friends did get the apple cider and liked it. I thought it was a little too expensive for what it was. The donuts were nice and hot and covered in sugar. I personally thought there was way too much sugar. I dusted off a lot of it before trying it. They tasted good fresh...but I don't think it is worth getting up early, flagging them down, and paying $10 for a dozen ($6 for 6 donuts). The donuts are medium sized. Bigger than mini donuts but smaller than say a Krispy Kreme donut. I guess if you are craving fresh donuts, these are good. Otherwise I can't really justify the price. read more

I stopped by First Stop's truck while they were vending at South of the James Farmers Market this fall. The sign down the path advertising apple cider doughnuts is what drew me in. I asked if I could order one and was shown the size of the doughnut and told they sell them in six or 12 bundles. I opted for the six. The price was reasonable, the doughnuts delicious, but I had to share them. I only ate a couple of them myself. I definitely think the option to order a single doughnut should be considered -- or even maybe a pack of three. Otherwise, my experience was good and I'd order from them again in the future. read more

First Stop Donuts made a trip to the neighborhood we live in today! Sending thanks to you all coming out during this crazy time. We were able to preorder last night for a dozen donuts. My husband was able to go pick up this morning during the time we selected and they delivered to the car. The donuts came in two baggies 1/2 dozen each. They were toasty hot apple cider donuts, super delicious. Perfect amount of cinnamon and sugar covering the donuts. The only thing I would say is that I wish the donut was slightly larger... they were on the petite side. For anyone that has had an Apple Cider Donut from Carter Mountain or Carpe Donut in Charlottesville, very similar. All in all very good I would totally get their donuts again read more

Yumm! Who can say no to warm fresh donuts on a cold, drizzly fall day? These guys served my neighborhood today. I had to resist eating any more so the kids could have a chance. Packaging was minimal which was good; no styrofoam or plastic to feel guilty about.
