I am a fairly frequent customer to this Luther Burger/Sugar Shack location & I have always thoroughly enjoy each food & drink item I have tried at this location & that truth continued with this visit as well. My daughter & I opted for take out on this visit. I ordered a Rose Latte[which was the Employee pick of the day] & the Nacho Smashburger [turkey burger]. My daughter ordered the Smashburger combo[Burger, Fries & Drink]. The food was nice & hot, fresh & perfectly cooked. The Rose Latte was delightful. A perfect Springtime concoction. The Rose flavor was delicate & not overwhelming. It was served at a drinkable temperature. Another plus on this visit was the Special discount the location was offering the day we visited, 12 or 16 Oz Lattes for 2.00! What a deal! I am hopeful that they will have more specials like this. As a retired person, this is just the type of discount opportunity that allows me to support small local businesses a little bit more. & that is always a plus for me! TLDR; hot honey chicken tenders were AMAZING but the smashburger was average. I would have given 4 stars for the tenders but the burger wasn't great and the "service charge" is problematic. Vibe - Luther Burger is inside of the Sugar Shack which was a bit of an odd experience. From the outside it looks like Luther Burger is a small but separate addition to the building but that wasn't the case. On the bright side, I guess it's easy to get dessert with your burger? There's a large covered patio for sitting outside but only a few tables inside. The inside really isn't conducive for eating in. I took my burger to go. Service - the two girls that helped me were very patient as I browsed the menu. I asked for their opinions on what to order and their input was helpful. One issue I have with this establishment (and I put this on my sugar shack review as well) is that they add a 3% "service charge" to your bill without explaining why. This time I made sure to ask and was told that the service charge is how they keep the menu prices down. Well, if you're charging people a mandatory fee for their food, that's not keeping the prices down at all. It's actually just a shady business practice. It feels like they're sneaking in the fee as a way to make more money and just hoping people won't notice. Food - I'm so glad I ordered the tenders because those were the star of the show. They were surprisingly large with an excellent crunch. I got the hot honey toss (AMAZING!!) and ranch to dip. The ranch wasn't homemade but it was still delicious. I also appreciated that they gave me 2 for my 3 tenders and didn't skimp. I'll probably be back for the tenders. Now the burger was a bit disappointing only because I had it after the tenders. It felt like a burger I would make at home? There really wasn't anything special about it. I also didn't like that they put ketchup and mayo packets in the bag for you to add yourself. Pros: great selection for those who do not eat beef (vegan, turkey, crab) and I love that you can customize your fry flavors. The people who work there are so friendly. Burger sauce is delicious. You can get delicious donuts for dessert (we love their cake donuts). Cons: We ordered the original burger and it tasted bland to me. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't as great as I remember it being three years ago. Perhaps I just prefer a greasier smash burger. They were also out of many of the fry seasonings. Getting in and out of this spot can be a little difficult if you go during high traffic times (but off-hours is fine). I think a Sugar Shack donut is the reason to come to this location - while we were eating our burgers, a customer really wanted a vegan Boston Creme donut but they were sold out and one of the staff members said without hesitation, "I'll go make you one right now!". I heard about this place from a friend so my wife and I decided to stop in and try it. FIrst off, it is not easy to find. This will help- it is inside of the donut shop. They are one in the same- the sign for the donuts is fairly easy to see but not the burger sign. There is adequate parking as well. We stopped in around 1 pm on a Saturday. They were actually selling more donuts than burgers... not sure if that is the norm or not. I got the regular burger combo. The burger and fries were good although a little slow coming out.. The eat in area is pretty small. I think that this location is set up as mainly a to go clientele. THere are about 6 small tables and chairs around the front of the counter. It looks like they may be doing a renovation as there is one side blocked off partially with some wood. I am rarely on Southside so I am sure I will not be here often, but I would get the fries again for sure... they were good. read more

Yes it's nice to have a vegan burger option, but the quality has gone down over the years (I used to go there often, stopped because the quality declined, just tried again tonight and...meh). The girl taking orders was polite and patient and answered all our questions. They have vegan options if you're in to that. They also have milkshakes which peaked my interest but ultimately I didn't get around to. They have a variety of dry rubs for the fries which is cool. Food came out pretty quickly. I would suggest getting a double since the burger is kinda small. Bf was pretty impressed with the bacon saying it was plentiful and crisp. Overall the burger is good even without a doughnut. I didn't have the nerve to try the burger on a doughnut when I visited, but it's on my to-do list, perhaps the next time I'm in town to visit my mother. She, too, is generally up for any sort of culinary adventure out there and we can share one. But honestly, what to say? It's a solid burger joint. This isn't a place to come for wild burger variants, they do a reasonably small collection of things and they do it quite well. The same goes for the chicken, the fries, the pizza... and of course the doughnuts. Monday evening @ 7:43pm I have been CRAVING a burger. I do hope I've visited the right spot. This place has 4on Yelp! On arrival, it was a little confusing because facing the door to the right, is sheltered outside seating and when looking inside it didn't appear to have inside seating. I explained to the lady at the counter that I have never been there before and asked how it works as far as ordering. She explained I should order there at the counter, go sit down and they bring the food to you. Since I've not been here before I asked for suggestions. She said that the Luther burger was popular and it's like a burger with a donut on it or the donut is posing as the bread... something like that. Anyway, that's way too much for me. The Luther Burger was supposedly inspired by Luther Vandross (see the photo). They also have a crabcake with no filler, burger, if you will. Sounds like something I would like to try but not tonight because I have been wanting a beef burger. Out of curiosity I did inquired if Sugar Shack and Luthers was the same owner because of how it's set up but she told me no. I also asked how big the burger patty was and she told me it was of normal size. Anyway, I ordered a basic bacon cheese burger with waffle fries/sea salt. Headed to Sugar Shack side to wait for my food. 1st things 1st! Bathroom visit. They have one family bathroom and another bathroom men and women share. I decided on the family bathroom. Let me just say, there's never an excuse for a restaurant bathroom to be this unkept. There are holes in the wall, dirty floors, trash full, the toilet paper is just sitting on the back of the toilet AND they're not busy, at all. It's not like it's Friday during Happy Hour. I'm not sure who's responsible for the bathrooms, Sugar Shack or Luthers. Since they are sharing space they both need to be responsible for the review. My food arrives!! Omg, are serious?! the burger patty is soooo thin. (See photos). Puts me in mind of the old Wendy's commercial "where's the beef". Very disappointing! Especially because I inquired about the size of the beef patty and I was told it was normal/regular, I beg to differ. There's nothing normal about the size of this burger patty. The waffle fries were fine. I can tell you now I will not be coming back. The size of the beef patty is ridiculously small. They were also stingy with the mayo/ketchup on my "burger"(See photos). Ketchup on the table was pretty empty and the window beside me had some brown substance smeared on it, that looked nasty. Music was too loud. Soooo, I'm sitting here debating On whether not I want to get a Sugar Shack doughnut. Oh gosh so I have been wanting to try Luther Burger for a while, decided to give it a whirl last night. For those not in the know, this is connected directly to Sugar Shack and you can enter at either Sugar Shack entrance or a little to the side. You order first at the Luther Burger walk-up area, then you seat yourself. Not having been there before, obviously I didn't know what to expect. It's pretty simple. You pick what kind of burger you want, customize it, decide if you want their waffle fries, and then choose a beverage if so inclined. I chose a beef burger. All I can say is that the service and taste/quality of my burger was not much different than that of a Wendy's fast food burger. It was crazy thin, so much so that is kept crumbling apart when I would go to take a bite. Yep, crumbles of thin burger falling out from the bun. The taste was just very mediocre. As for service, the nice lady who took our order was fine, but after bringing our food to us, there was no other table service. Even we told her we had never been there before, for some reason I thought maybe someone would come by and ask how was our food. If you want to sit outside and drink beer and socialize it might be kinda cool but there is nothing at all about the food that would have me wanting to return. read more

Ive been to Luther burger more times than I can count. I really love this place, I've stick with them a few years back when there customer service was not that great but now their workers are really polite. I'm someone who does not like burgers at all. I always feel sick after eating burgers except that doesn't happen here. It's the only place I can eat a burger and Im not in distress 40 minutes later. They have numerous burger types like crab, vegan, Turkey and a few other options. They also have fries and you can add whatever seasoning you want on it. Now they don't give you the option to only do a burger, you have to get the combo which comes out to about $12. They also have the sugar shack area where you can indulge in some donuts while you are there. 10/10 definitely recommend read more

I ventured here last week with a friend and our children. I had heard about this place AMD how good their burgers are. It has been in my bookmarks for quite some time , so I decided to give it a shot. My friend suggested the crab burger. So that is what I ordered. It was between that and the Turkey burger. I ordered the crab burger with garlic parmesan fries. My child ordered the bed burger with all but the onions and fries with sea salt. I considered trying a milkshake, but voted against it. That will be tried next time. At first bite, the crab burger taste so good. I was nice warm, you could taste the lumps of crab meat. Barely any filler (which I LOVE) and just every bite was good. The fries were heavy on the garlic parmesan seasoning, but that was fine to me. The yellow sauce hat seemed to be honey mustard (I think. That is my conclusion.) also taste good. It was good on the fries and the crab burger. My child.sais the fnurger sauce that was ordered on the side instead of on the burger taste good and made a good fry sauce. I will be back. I sill get a milkshake. The fact that Sugar Shack is in the same building was nice. I finally gave their doughnuts a real try. I don't like "dough"nuts. I like cake doughnuts. I ordered a mix, r dough and 4 cake. I am glad thrt have that option because it is hard to find good cake doughnuts everywhere. The doughnuts are dense, but they are moist and flavorful. I tasted the red velvet and chocolate cake doughnuts. They were throughly enjoyed. I didn't care for them to be glazed. I would prefer them just plain. It wasn't a thick layer of glaze, so I didn't mind much. I finally have more than one spot where I can get doughnuts I like on my dose of town (this makes spot #2. I was so excited to go by and get curbside service. I ordered a beyond burger w/lettuce & cheese and cajun fries and both were so good. They had a really great organized curbside process and just as soon as the wait seemed to get long, someone knocked on the door with a free box of donuts for the long wait. This was such a nice gesture. The best part was we are vegan and she didnt mind at all when we asked if we could swap for vegan donuts instead. And low key....Those donuts were really delicious too. KIDS MEALS: we picked up a handful of vouchers for free kids meals during last visit. There were enough to take our whole family (of seven) out to dinner last Monday. Expected a nice treat; got a filling meal. ... The location is take out only for Covid. A little booth in the parking lot serves as the order window. Once an order is placed, you just pick up parking spot and wait. They bring the food out to you. We had vouchers for seven kids meals. These cute little boxes each contained an impossible cheeseburger, waffle fries, and an apple sauce gogo pouch. Also, little set of crayons to complete the games on the box, and a couple pirate themed temporary tattoos as a bonus. The kids meals come with boxed apple juice, staff gave us the whole package of eight juices. As nice a gesture as the extra juice box was, we were even more impressed when we opened up the box of donuts to see a total of eight in there as well (our vouchers covered one donut per kid meal. I have been dying to try Luther Burger ever since I heard they opened. All I have to say is Why Did I Wait So Long??? What a great burger. If I didn't think I would die from a heart attack I would eat this everyday. So first of all I went alone and I felt intimidated because I didn't know what to expect or where to go. When I looked up the location I thought it was somewhere else and I passed it. So make sure you keep an eye out as you come around the corner. Luther Burger and the Sugar Shack are the same building. When you go in the menu is as simple as can be. What do you want on the burger. What do you want in the fries. That's it, basic. But basic is good. There is a nice selection of beers. I think there were 4 on tap and a whole lot more. After you order try will bring the food to you. If you have beer I think you need to sit outside on the Luther side. There was a sign leading to the Shack that said no alcohol. Now the burger. It was awesome. I got everything on it. I really like the sauce that was on it. I had a little ketchup to dip it in but I really didn't use it. The sauce was great. The donut buns get a little messy but I was ok with that. It would have been nice if they gave you a hand wipe when you get the burger Luthered. But hey no big deal. All in all I can't wait to go back. It was so yummy. read more

I had a double with the works and bacon. 4 year old loved the burger with no cheese. Waffle fries were on point! Delivery via GrubHub was fast. This was our first time trying out Luther's and Sugar Shack. Ordered online for curbside. Online and email confirmation said it would be brought out. Text said to come in. However, we checked in online and they brought the burgers out quickly. No donuts, so had to go inside to get our order. No big deal, but not a seamless process. The burgers are good. Nothing fancy or over the top. Just a really good tasting satisfying burger. Fries were just ok. We tried three different toppings and the salt and vinegar the best. The donuts are the hit! Sugar overload, but in a good way. The maple frosting delicious! The yeast better than the cake, but all yummy. We will definitely return. read more

Hubby got the infamous Luther burger. I thoroughly enjoyed my burger. I loved that it was small and the burger sauce went great with it. It's a little pricey. But so worth it. I have been coming here for over a year and it used to be my after work go-to but now it has gone very downhill. The fries that used to be huge are now very small and they no longer offer many of the flavors. i ordered waffle fries and i got regular fries i would get from mcdonalds. This was ok with me but there was only one table free and I could see how things could get crowded quickly with the over flow from Luther Burger. With that being said, I ordered donuts for the kids and waited for my order which came fairly quickly. I ordered a turkey burger with white cheddar waffle fries. The fries were great but my burger was lukewarm. It was definitely tasty but I would have preferred it warmer. The pickles that came with it were delicious and so was the sauce.
