Appetizer: Caramel Pecan Pie Cinnamon Roll -extremely sweet -mostly taste caramel and not so much the pecan and cinnamon in the pecan roll We started our meal with the caramel pecan pie cinnamon roll which was extremely sweet. The cinnamon roll was was sitting in a bed of the caramel, plus the cinnamon roll was drizzled with icing making it even sweeter. It mostly tasted of sweetness, and caramel, and so you did not taste the cinnamon and pecans as much. It was extremely good, but extremely sweet. I had the cinnamon chip pancake breakfast and it was absolutely divine. The pancake was perfectly crispy on the edges while the inside was perfectly. The cinnamon chips were also well dispersed so that there were not large clumps of cinnamon chips in one area of the pancake, so that all you got in one mouthful was cinnamon chip and nothing else. I orders mine with the turkey sausage, and two eggs scrambled with the cheese. The turkey sausage was good. It was not as amazing as the pancake, but it was still really tasty. The eggs were really good, and they were cooked really well. Many times I find that when I order scrambled eggs with cheese that the they do not taste cheesy enough but these were great! My husband had the turkey club sandwich without the avocado, and a bowl of their soup of the day which was vegetable. He ate all of the vegetable, but only half of the club sandwich because it had too much of the turkey on the sandwich for him. My mother got the biscuits and gravy with turkey sausage, seasoned house potatoes, and scrambled eggs. She said that sausage gravy delicious especially considering it was made using turkey sausage. She loved the potatoes as well, and thought they were perfectly seasoned. In fact she said that she should have tasted them first before she added more pepper to them because they were seasoned so well. We did not have to wait long at all for a table, and our waitress was really good. We did have to ask for silverware, and a straw for my husband's soda, but there was nothing offensive in our service. The next time we are passing through we would love to stop again. read more

This place is super cute inside and I was really hoping to like it. We tried it for lunch and we did a takeout order...so I can't vouch for eating in or breakfast. But, we arrived right before our order was supposed to be ready, the place was packed. I waited patiently in line to be helped only to find that if/when my order was ready it should be sitting on a shelf to the left of the entrance. I told the waitress my name and she went to check on my order and said it would be out soon. I sat and waited for at least 10 min and saw no orders come out in that time. Finally mine was brought out, I ran through the icy rain to our car where our baby was screaming and ready to go...and opened my lunch, only to discover that the grilled ham and Swiss sandwich was so cold that the cheese had solidified! My husbands meal was also pretty cold, but he was so hungry he just ate it. I just couldn't handle paying that much for a cold sandwich that I couldn't even stomach eating, so I ran back inside and told them the problem. They took my food to the back, then the waitress came out a few min later and asked if I wanted it remade...to me it seemed obvious but yes, I wanted a new sandwich. It took about 5 more minutes and they brought me out an almost hot sandwich, which I accepted. After all of that, the meal was just so so and I scarfed it out of starvation. Not impressed. I was excited to have a first watch come to the NRV area. I grew up with one pretty close to me and then to move to an area that's closest one was in Roanoke was kind of sad, so the expectations were rather high. To preface this, this location had been open for a month so the regular "gaffs" of a new location SHOULD have been worked out. I also want to disclose I am not a heartless wench who doesn't understand we're in a pandemic, there's a labor shortage, eating out is a privilege, etc. I get it, and I know (and I still tipped over 20%). I was running late and my friends had been at the table like ten minutes earlier than me, it had taken that whole time I wasn't there for the waiter to come over. Then he forgot menus. Then he forgot drinks. By the time I got there they finally got everything but this whole ordeal had to start over again for me. When it comes to eating out, it is a privilege and a luxury that I'm not going to do every day, so little things add up for me and can alter the dining experience. My friend ordered a drink that was red on top and it came so full to the table it spilled and made everything sticky, most of the eggs were over cooked. For a place that has like 85% dishes with eggs on the menu, that's kind of concerning. Overall there's just a lot missteps that could have been avoided with more preparations and attention to details. Hopefully this will get better with time. read more

It was not the least bit crowded so lack of help is not the cause for blame. The avocado toast was really cold as were the eggs which were overdone. The eggs at Waffle House are actually better. The service was not great either time I have eaten here. After ordering I did not see the waiter (who does not deliver the food) until the meal was finished when I asked for the check. This was one of the worst establishments I have been to. The food from our visits to other locations has always been good, however the management is horrendous at this location. I honestly am not sure there is any management. After waiting 30+ mins we were told it would be another 30+ while we proceeded to count 12 empty and dirty tables needing to be clean. So we proceeded to wait the additional 30 mins to only go ask the hostess once again how long it would be, guess what...you got it another 20-30 mins. Now in that 30 mins I believe we counted a total of 3 tables being cleaned. I guess making money isn't your priority or having a clean establishment. I'm not real sure how you can operate like this. I have been to numerous First Watches and this one is by far the worst I have been to. The layout up front is such a congested clusterfu$# that every one was complaining and making suggestions on how to fix it. But all of this was just met by blank stare of stupidity. And don't even get us started on the uselessness present at the front desk! When someone pointed out to them that there was numerous tables that have been dirty for a long time they were met with the typical response of "we only have two people to clean tables". If your workers can only clean 3 tables between them in 30 minutes, you may need to address your staff or lack there of..Well that sounds like a you problem and I hope it continues to cost you business. If I was a server here I would be furious with the way things are handled as you are now taking money out of my pocket! Oh the best thing we heard while standing there was from a lady who came in to pick up a carry out order. The hostess proceeded to tell the lady that they couldn't find her order. Service was very poor (probably mostly due to staff shortages), coffee was mediocre (no real cream just the stupid little plastic cream containers you get at McDonald's), food was good, the bill was shocking! Honestly, when I looked at the bill I almost wanted to call the police because I thought I was getting robbed. Four of us eating breakfast and the bill was over $90 with tip. Breakfast! Granted, this is a very upscale breakfast, but no breakfast outside of the Four Seasons Hotel should cost that much. You want a taste of New York (prices) in Christiansburg, eat here. We came in during this homecoming weekend and expected it to be busy, and was told that our wait was 1-1.5 hrs. We came back in 40 minutes just to see where we were in line and the hostess at the front was rude and said "well it's been 44 out of 120 minutes" and nothing else. So they not only pushed us back, but gave us a wrong time. After over an hour and a half we were seated only to be told that despite ordering the moment we sat down, the bigger parties foods would be pushed in front of our 6 party group, and it's been over two hours and we have not eaten. Our waitress was kind enough to give us slices of bread to hold us off, but the employees overall don't seem to enjoy working here. They ran out of muffins, biscuits, etc. I suggest getting here at 8-9am if you want to eat at a reasonable hour, and probably eat an entire meal beforehand if you want to come later than that.
