The Morning Meditation beverage was nice but my food was lackluster. Once the food arrived, it barely held a warm temperature. As if it just sat there for several minutes before it was brought to me. Literally 17 minutes went be without so much as an acknowledgment of my presence or the obligatory, "would you like coffee?" Over the years I've come to this first watch many times with my parents. They are great and never disappoint! One of my favorite things to get here is the avocado toast. It is huge and comes with lots of avocado and a nicely cooked egg on top, along with thickly sliced bread. I also love their pancakes as they are exceptionally large and light and fluffy. Their breakfast potatoes are also SO good! One thing I really miss is their chopped salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and I think kiwi? The team made a great point to be extra cautious during these odd times and were cleaning extensively during our visit. We had the avocado toast, which was perfect. Adding the lemon really makes a difference and adds a pop to the flavor - highly recommended if you get the dish. I always love the Farmhouse skillet; I have never gotten one that was bad. It has a perfect combination of flavors that make me want to continue coming back. Lastly, the pumpkin pancake is a must have in the fall. It doesn't need any syrup, maybe just a bit of butter. Love this classic brunch spot! I dined solo on a casual weekday morning. Service was quick and attentive. I love their sweet options, so I chose a pancake. I was even able to put in a specisl order for the Cinnamon Chip pancake despite is not being their seasonal offering. If you're watching what you eat, I'd ask for the greens with dressing on the side because it's quite saturated. The hash with 2 eggs on top was great. We tried the Italian. It's like a breakfast scramble with all of the fixings. The lemon ricotta pancakes are inconsistent; last time we came they gave us two pancakes for an order and this time it was only a single pancake. Pricey at almost $10 for a single pancake. Very homey and instagramable atmosphere. My roommate and I were having an indecisive Sunday, so we ended up splitting two dishes: the Tri-Athlete Omelet and the Smoked Salmon Benedict. While I liked it, I'm picky about my Benedict, so I will note that this one wasn't my favorite. My roommate, who loves salmon, agreed. However, switching our side to potatoes was a power move, as they were tasty. The omelet on the other hand was delicious. I'm a sucker for health in the morning and this one doesn't disappoint. While the green chilies and mushrooms make this dish, don't skip out on the jam that comes with the toast. So. Good. Would 100% order again over the Smoked Salmon Benedict. If I'm going to overpay for brunch I hate to do so in a strip mall (but in Kenwood, unfortunately, there isn't much else). My main complaint with First Watch is that it's a bit overpriced. It's over $15/ person for dishes that, while cleverly marketed, are still only pseudo-healthy at best. Don't get me wrong - the wait staff and customer service are amazing here... on a busy day I was immediately greeted, seated and served. If I want a boutique breakfast I guess I'd prefer local Cincinnati places like B&A Street Kitchen, Taste of Belgium, Maplewood, Cheapside or Baker's Table... it just feels wrong to eat something as beautifully hipster as avocado toast in a strip mall. read more

I ordered the Trifecta breakfast, which consisted of 2 eggs your way, your choice of meat, and your choice of either a waffle or pancake. What I really loved about this option was that it offered a little bit of everything (salty, savory, sweet) was also allowing a lot of room for choice. The meat selections range from bacon to sausages to patties, which both chicken and turkey options available. There are also lots of pancake flavors to choose from too, so the meal is really customizable. I really enjoyed what I got overall. The scrambled eggs were light and fluffy, the turkey sausages very nicely seasoned, and the waffle was sweet and not too dense. Loved the berry compote it came with. I always want to like First Watch much more than I ever do. I have eaten at this location 3 times over the past year. Each time my requested over easy eggs were medium hard. The servers were very nice about replacing them but eating breakfast in 2 courses takes a lot of the pleasure away from enjoying a meal. I also wish they would replace the margarine with butter and get syrup dispensers that dispense more than a trickle. Kudos for serving maple syrup but it takes an age to get enough to moisten the pancake. I love breakfast but I always leave vaguely disappointed. read more
