I am not a person who is generally picky or makes a fuss about things when it comes to food. I am very easy going and don't really waste time thinking about it. I am a huge fan of breakfast places and First Watch does not disappoint. There are not very many good breakfast places around that have a wide variety of options. It can be very difficult to please the masses, but First Watch did a very good job at that. The food at First Watch is very good and they also have a lot of options. They cover all your morning cravings, whether it is salty or sweet. Even with their wide variety of options, they also have a part of the menu that includes healthier options. On top of that they also tell you how many calories are in each dish, which if you are like me, makes it extremely efficient. I got the eggs benedict and it certainly did not disappoint! It was just the right amount of food and I honestly have no complaints. It was nice and hot when they brought it out and it looked very appetizing. The best part of the meal though was by far the coffee. I am picky when it comes to coffee because most of the time it tastes burnt and I won't drink it. The coffee at First Watch was perfect! It was very cold outside, and the hot cup of coffee was just what I needed to warm me up. The pricing at First Watch can be a little pricy when it comes to some of their menu items, but all in all it is pretty reasonable. The ingredients that they put into each item are top of the line, which is why the price is a little bit higher. My meal was $14 including my coffee, which to me is pretty reasonable for how much food I got. I love the feel in First Watch as well. They have such welcoming and rustic feel that makes you feel right at home. I like the little touches they add to your experience like having water in a glass mason jar. It was a friendly environment that makes your morning feel just a little bit better. When I went we were in a group of six and were going during the morning rush, so it would have been a while before we would have been seated. We were offered to be seated at the community table right away, so we didn't have to wait, and we decided to go for it. Even though we were sitting at the community table, the server was still extremely attentive to us and our food was out very quickly. They were extremely accommodating when it came to each person revising their order. When our food came out our whole table was happy with it and everyone had gotten exactly what they had asked for. While the menu is creative and incorporates organic ingredients, and the food is usually very good, I simply haven't been able to bring myself back to this location. For starters, the environment and atmosphere is anything but relaxing. In fact, eating here is a downright stressful experience. The building itself, limited in space by the fact that it's a part of a strip-mall or "business park" type of area is just too small for the inherently busy brunch rush of an establishment that has such limited hours. The doorway and small, two bench waiting area in front of the hostess is usually packed with 15-20 people: some of whom are waiting in line to pay at the very inconveniently placed cash register. It is difficult to tell where that line is versus the disorganized mob of those waiting (and waiting and waiting and waiting) for the limited seating. Do not be fooled by the advertised "no wait app" check in process. Never once have I utilized it and been seated with "no wait". In fact, after checking in on the app, getting ready, driving to the location, and giving the hostess (usually the same, very crass, very rude older lady) our name we still sat in that crowded mob of anxious waiting people for almost 40 minutes before a table became available. Unfortunately, the wait times have, of late, become so horrendous that the food is no longer worth it. On multiple occasions we have left and enjoyed other food options in the area before ever being seated. One specific occasion, a guest, who was particularly chummy with one of the servers on staff walked in the door, through the mob, and was immediately seated ahead of all of those who had been waiting there before. The final straw was when my family, whom I don't often get to see, wanted to get together for brunch at this location on a Sunday. I made reservations ahead of time (three days ahead of time) that were confirmed as I received an email saying such. I was then called by someone at the restaurant where the employee essentially told me the person who accepted my reservations didn't know any better and they were simply too busy to take reservations on a Sunday. If that is policy, I completely understand. But there should not be an option to make online reservations and staff should be trained to not accept them. We got our hopes up and they were promptly crushed by the employee. They offered no apology and no assistance in the matter. Essentially, what was insinuated is that my party was too big and would be a bother to them. They did not seem to care that we would have to take our business elsewhere when we had time constraints and the only solution they offered was for someone from the party to arrive two hours early to ensure we got a table by the time we needed it. I suppose they did not want the sales and the gratuity from our party of nine (with nothing under 10 dollars on the menu, drinks, and sides- that's a pretty penny) and believe me, we tip well. If they truly feel they are just "too busy" for bigger parties (and by default-bigger sales) then perhaps it's time to relocate to a larger building that can accommodate these situations instead of making them feel like a burden- even when they have three days notice and tried to be understanding. Since this issue, we have not been back. I have not wanted to go through the hassle and I probably won't go back to this location ever again. I will spend my money at the many other brunch options in the area. read more

The breakfast food was very good. The seasoned potatoes were tasty. The sausage and bacon were done perfect. Just moved here a couple weeks ago and this is the first restaurant I hit here in Dayton.....the morning after driving in. This place is awesome. I had the avocado toast and WOW....that stuff rocks! The ingredients were fresh, seasoning was spot on, service and staff was great, an overall awesome experience. I went there by myself and sat at the community table. Really cool idea and I met some locals that gave me some great scoop on things to do in the area. I've been back twice since then and I can't wait to bring my family when they get here next week. Visiting Dayton and looked on Yelp for a decent breakfast place. First watch had excellent reviews so we decided to try it out. We were not disappointed! Food was excellent and the service was fantastic. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I had the Bacado (bacon, avocado and cheese omelet) and it was so fresh and filling. The fresh fruit cup was exceptional as well! Lots of grapes, watermelon, honeydew and pineapple as opposed to the usual restaurant fruit cup loaded with gross cantaloupe. So, first things first....food was delicious. Debated on 3 or 4 stars because of service. Had to wait 40 minutes for our food. They were turning tables quickly. Family of 4 was seated 10 minutes after us (group of 3) and had their food before 10 minutes before us. Hostess was sweet, server was adequate...maybe a little less than. I always expect a wait when I go for breakfast on a Sunday but 40 minutes is excessive; especially when you see multiple tables eating before you. No need to go back because there are plenty of great breakfast/brunch places in the Fairborn/Dayton area that have great food AND great service. Oh!
