I found out about first watch about a couple of years ago and I've been hooked ever since! I usually come to this location because it is always clean, the staff is always friendly, and the food is always yummy! I came to this location two times in one week and definitely recommend asking for Jessica to be your server. She is sweet and efficient! She also remembered that I like an extra ramekin for my ketchup (picky I know, right?). But in all seriousness she's great and so is this place. I came on a Saturday. I'd gotten up on weekday time, and I hadn't had breakfast yet, so I was pretty hungry @ 8:45am. I ordered the Traditional Breakfast. Eggs over-easy. They came over-hard with one broken yolk. If the cook didn't care, the waitress should have done. As to the potatoes, I'm not crazy about square chunks of boiled potatoes but they were OK if you like that type. I prefer when they have a little bit of crisp from the frying pan -- home fries. Positives are they leave you a thermos of coffee. It was kind of weak and had that tap water taste, but that's common in restaurants. They also leave you a bottle of chilled tap water. Don't get too excited, I believe the purpose of this is to save on waitress attention, as they give their waitresses a lot of tables and you won't see them again till you get the check. Another positive was gluten-free toast and the preserves in a little dish giving the impression of home-made. I came alone, only because I was starving, but I wouldn't take anyone here. Shoney's or Denny's are as good and are cheaper. IHOP is even better, and they leave a thermos of coffee also. Now if you're one of those Millennials who thinks life is a super awesome experience and everything's just amazing, well come on and help the local economy! Otherwise, find some place that isn't a chain. Or at least a chain that has national standards to maintain. read more

This is unfortunate. First Watch is always good food wise, no exception here. The waitress was also very pleasant. However, the way the front desk is handled is a clear indication that this particular location is terribly mismanaged. Terrible experience getting a place in line for no reason other than the seemingly incompetent way the workers are trained and, in one case, the inherent behaviour of the worker. This used to be a great location to get seated quickly, but now you needlessly wait and, if you are lucky, you are berated by a frustrated employee simply for being in the front of the correct line and pointing out that nearly every other customer's name is being taken before you (hi Jenna!). Solutions: 1. Have a sign above eye level, in addition to the one below eye level, designating the cashier and wait list lines clearly. Avoids costumer confusion and employee frustration. 2. Have dedicated hosts/hostesses and dedicated cashiers who are actually trained in their job and are not juggling waiting with the tasks that hosting and ringing up customers entail. 3. If you can't hire dedicated people for hosting and cashiering, then do an overhaul of employee training with a focus costumer service at the front door, not just at the table. The latter is pointless if people leave in disgust before sitting down (Which, btw, a very large number of people in line before us did). read more

Worst breakfast I've had in years. Service was slow, but it was their rush so they get a partial pass. $3.25 for a cup of milk. Highway robbery. Pancakes were disgusting. I didn't finish one because they were hard as a rock. Then I asked for hash brown cubes. They brought me just a few potato cubes that unknown to me had onions on them. Won't be back to this first watch. Service was absolutely abysmal. We waited 10 minutes for a table to be cleaned, then another hour to get our food as people who came after us were seated, fed and LEFT! We finally had to complain to a manager who brought us food...unfortunately the food was not the quality you would expect from First Watch. I've had croutons that were softer than the brick they served as multigrain toast. My mother's traditional breakfast came out almost inedible and completely mangled. Broken over easy eggs, burnt sausage. It was just overall a very bad experience, especially because we weren't even offered so much as an apology and had to pay full price for food we didn't even get to enjoy. read more

Over a half hour after ordering still waiting on the food. The waiter has yet to stop by again. If you have no where to go you may want to come by for breakfast. Just be prepared to plan nothing for at least 2 hours. Food was good not worth the 30 minutes wait to sit down and over 45 minutes. Living here part time and in Southern California and South Florida part time, I've loved the First Watch Restaurants (not just any restaurant, mind you ) for years now beginning in Sourh Florida; and now this First Watch is just as incredibly delicious and always satisfies my hunger and delectable palate! Thank you for the wonderful service and the best of the best food!!! I'll continue going to this first watch for more because it's a fun environment, but honestly I go for all the delicious food and unique entrées this First Watch serves as well!!! I absolutely love this place they have the best staff and always greet me when I come in. The breakfast here is just what I need to get my day started! I love the day glow orange and carrot juice! I come here at least 2-3 times per week and they never fail to keep me coming in! Went here twice on vacation. Loved how clean and the atmosphere of the restaurant. Nice and open, didn't feel like I was sitting on top of the other guests. Healthy options, and not so healthy to choose from. The pancakes and French toast were yummy. We also had oatmeal and a couple different muffins. Coffee was good and service was too. Just left this location and I'm pondering how this restaurant has such a high rating. I ordered the trifecta... A pancake, sausage, and 2 eggs. My pancake, which was supposed to be plain, was overcooked and had chocolate chips in it. I ordered my eggs scrambled soft with cheese and not only were they overcooked, there were eggshells in it as well. When someone finally decided to come ask me how my meal was (no one had been by since the plate was dropped on my table), I let my waitress know and she had another order made. She came back with another order of overcooked eggs. I was extremely disappointed with not only the service but the quality of the food as well. This is my 3rd time at a different First Watch location and this unfortunately seems to be the prevailing theme. It is unlikely that I will visit one of these restaurants again read more

Finally we decided to try first watch for the first time. And i have to say, we're very pleased with that decision. We love the ambience of this particular location, and the food were very satisfying from every aspects ( healthy choice, flavor, and portion). Breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Sure. I agree with that. So when I have a bad breakfast, it gets my day off on the wrong note. I'd been a patron at the First Watch on McEwen in Franklin for a good while and always had a mostly good experience. With an office move, that location became a little less practical, and I switched to the location on Meridian. Unfortunately it's been a miss nearly every single time. I continue to modify my morning commute to allow for more and more time. I'm always quoted "15 minutes" on to-go orders, but it frequently takes longer, so I've adjusted. Today set me off though. There were plenty of people working, not too awfully many eating. A server, who for respect of his persona I'll simply refer to as "M" greeted me when I arrived, fifteen minutes after I'd placed my order and asked "oh yeah they're working on it, btw, how would you like your eggs?". I was a little surprised they hadn't called to catch this missed detail. He went to the back and was back there five minutes. He then came out and wiped down two tables, brought out drink refills to one table, to-go boxes to another, and then went back to the back again. Several other wait staff came up and tended to myself and the six or seven other people behind me. They kept saying "They're working on it". I kept eyeing "M" to see if he'd ever come back up, and he would make eye contact and then just walk away and do something else. Then, ten minutes after I'd arrived, he came up and said "Sir was there something I could help you with?". Yes. My order that you said they were working on. He left, and finally another young lady, presumably the one who'd taken my phone in order came out. 15 minutes turned into 30 minutes, and there was no "let me take something off your bill" or "it's on us today". I left, late for work, with a very bad taste in my mouth. The food is almost always lukewarm when I get it, but I can heat it up. Nevermind the fact that no matter what you order, it's 60% carbs and 30% or less protein. Being late for work though, or spending as much time on getting a to-go order as I would just coming in and sitting down and ordering just isn't acceptable. I have noticed both at this location and at McEwen that people don't have responsibilities... they just pick up wherever there's a need. Connor's, just across the street has a specific person to greet, to ring-up to-go orders, and to bring the to-go orders out. Not saying you need three people... but perhaps ONE dedicated individual at the front at all times would be a good idea. read more

Great spot for breakfast. The omelettes are prepared exactly as I like them and the kids meals are delicious. Very good ice coffee, cheaper and better than Starbucks. I like the fact that they source local and seem to use high quality ingredients in their food. This may be a chain but you wouldn't know it judging by the food. read more

First time eating here and it was really good. Device was fast and our waitress was great answering questions we had. Our food was as expected when arrived and was delicious. We had the farmers biscuit, a bacon special, kids chocolate pancakes, eggs Benedict and a half salad with half roast beef sandwich. Everything looked and tasted delicious. I'd recommend to anyone wanting a great breakfast, brunch or lunch meal. Edit to add: we also had several fresh juices and the house coffee which were also all really good. read more

Went here for brunch, was very pleasantly surprised. Our server, Kala, was very knowledgeable of the menu, and recommended the best things for our tastes. The food came out in a very reasonable time frame, and was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend the baked-fresh biscuits, as they are to DIE for! read more

So so good and I'm a very sad Birmingham native because we do not have one in my hometown or in Auburn where I am attending college. The staff was friendly, the environment was pleasant and I had the best pancake( I was advised to get one and the waiter was right because they are enormous) and the most wonderful fresh juice I've had in a very long time. Disappointed. Ordered Chicken Avocado Chop salad to go for lunch. Drove to pick it up; got back to office -- no avocado. I ordered it because I wanted -- I don't know, chicken and avocado. Called to let them know. Hostess/server who answered says hold on, going to get manager. Comes back and says manager is busy; call again later. Umm, no. I ordered, I drove, I picked up, I paid, I called to communicate service failure. Not calling back again. Mistakes happen, but no apology, no indication that there was a care at all. read more
