Great place for a quick lunch with healthy options. I had the grilled fish tacos, and they were fresh and prepared quickly. The side of grilled asparagus was prepared well; I chose the jalapeño corn as my second side and while it had a nice flavor (a little heat, but not too spicy) the consistency left a little to be desired. It was a little gelatinous and would pick a different side next time. I'd definitely come back to try out other entrees as this seems like a nice place to get something other than the standard heavy fast food fare. Brown Bag is a casual Americana style restaurant that focuses on the healthier side of the menu. They are located in the main area of Cool Springs, directly on Cool Springs Boulevard. This area of Cool Springs boasts a lot of corporate offices, so Brown Bag does quite well with their location, especially since they offer catering! I found Brown Bag through an office lunch, where we placed the order online and went to pick up. The process of ordering was seamless and pick up was straight forward and easy. Their menu is pretty limited. It consists of entrees, sides, salads, a couple of sandwiches and a few desserts. The entrees are either Grilled or Signature plus 2 sides, and are priced at $9.95 and $10.95. You can also get a veggie entrée which is three veggies and is priced at $8.85. You have three salad options, six sides and two desserts to choose from. We had a working lunch and majority of the team got an entrée meal plus banana pudding. I personally got the Teriyaki Chicken, Jalapeno Corn Casserole and Red Mashed Potatoes...plus Banana Pudding. The meal was tasty. The chicken was decent, but did not seem like a solid portion size as a lot of the chicken was small bits instead of actual pieces. The jalapeno corn casserole was the winner of the meal for me! I am normally not one for banana pudding, but I gave in to peer pressure and had some here. While I am not yet a full convert, it was a great banana pudding! I appreciated the vanilla wafer to banana ratio! Overall, Brown Bag is a decent place in a good location. While I won't go out of my way to stop by, I can see many Brown Bag meals in my future given my offices located right around the corner. read more

It was crowded as it is a popular place to both grab lunch but also pick up your larger catering orders, so make sure to leave some time for waiting on a table to open up at lunch time. The portions were substantial for lunch. My husband got the fish tacos with two sides and I got the grilled chicken with two sides. It was a nice break from chain restaurants and over-priced signature lunch establishments in the area. It was also affordable considering how expensive it can be to eat in Franklin. Wow!! The food is amazing, simple home cooked meal but healthy! Good quality too. I ordered the bulk takeout for dinner tonight. I debated between the 1/3 or 1/2 pan of chicken as I was unsure if their 4-6 estimate on the 1/3 chicken pan was light. So, I went for the 1/2 pan chicken and 1/3 of Mac & Cheese and 1/3 of mashed potatoes. I think I will be having plenty of left overs and probably a 1/3 pan would have been plenty for four. The ambiance is a 'smart casual' setting with a nice playlist to eat to. Ordered - Salmon Burger (5/5). May be one of the best salmon burgers I've had. The light sauce on the perfectly cooked burger was topped with veggies to add that natural flavor to it. - Mashed Potatoes side (4/5). Good but not anything different. - Asparagus (4/5). Cooked with the right amount of char. Complemented with the potatoes and burger well. Prices were reasonable too. The servers are all so friendly and seem like they actually want to be there. The food itself was excellent, too. I ordered a grilled steak sandwich without horseradish or cheese. It contained a generous portion of tender, flavorful flank steak strips covered in steak sauce; caramelized onions; and lettuce in a toasted ciabatta roll. It comes with two sides, so I chose spinach salad and jalapeño corn casserole. The spinach salad was sweet and refreshing with all the different fruit it had in it: mandarin oranges, blackberries, and craisins. It also had parmesan cheese and a sweet poppyseed dressing. The corn casserole was delicious - spicy and sweet. I enjoyed listening to the Christian music playing over the speakers while I ate. Great lunch spot! Nice location and the outside seating is a plus on these lovely fall days. This is an order at the counter and they bring your meal place. The staff at the counter was courteous and answered my numerous questions about the menu choices. I settled on the fish tacos which were fine but my sides stole the show. Don't agree with the hype and high reviews. Firstly, if you don't eat meat, you have seriously very few choices left. Ordered Salmon burger with extra spice. The front desk mentioned the burger comes right off-the-grilled, in other words : No customization! If the burger was cooked and sandwich prepared from scratch, adding extra spice should not be an issue. The salmon burger itself was mediocre...And these many high reviews, I definitely had higher expectations. So very disappointing. One less star for their weird hours.
