In terms of breakfast houses, as a California native, I never once thought I'd fall in love with breakfast foods the way I did this weekend at the Waffle House. It was truly a testament to the basic items for a breakfast, and providing a comfortable space to enjoy a meal, and to do what you need to do. I went twice over my weekend stay, once with my friends in the morning, and another when I was needing a place to work late at night, and both experiences I was served with kindness. Growing up Waffle House was known as Waffle And Steak in Indiana and we never went as my parents didn't like it. I've been to plenty of Waffle Houses, but this one really stood out because of the service that hit me as soon as I walked in--felt like I was stepping into a relative's house. The staff was amazing, and the food came out super fast and was just as delicious as you'd expect. I did run into one small issue, but they handled it so quickly. They recooked my meal, took it off the bill, and even gave me a complimentary coffee since I was heading to the airport and had work to do. Overall, I give them an 8 out of 10 and will definitely be back anytime I'm in town! read more

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. They brought my food to the table with hair in my eggs. I sent it back for a re-do. When she brings the 2nd round back, she tells me that she tried to get my food waived for the hair in my food but the district manager (Tom) who was cooking, wouldn't let her. I didn't ask for my ticket to be waived. She took it upon herself to ask. But the fact that a district manager made that mistake and had no more customer service than that, should make Waffle House question if he's the right person for the job of district manager. So the 2nd round comes out and the bacon is burn to a crisp. Just BLACK! I asked for my hash browns to be scattered and well done. They came out undercooked and like a noodle. We landed in BNA at 12:45 AM and we didn't get into our Uber until around 1:45 AM. Our Uber driver was recommending that we should go to the Waffle House and order their t bone steak. He dropped us off at the Waffle House and we walked in and searched the menu high and low and found no t bone steak. I was pretty sad and thought wow my Uber drivers lyin' to me. Looks can be deceiving. Yes, nearly all Waffle House establishment look the same. Unfortunately they look like they were built in the 1950s and have not been updated...crowded, dingy, and not shabby-chic. Bathroom in this one...same thing...looks just don't cut it. But my grandson wanted to come here for a waffle (IHOP across the street was jammed, so this was our second choice). Onto the good part. Service (as usual...we have been here before) was swift and polite. Waitress was especially gracious to my "guest." Food was cooked exactly as ordered and delivered to our table quickly. My Eggs over easy on top of Bert's chili on top of has browns was spot on!. Nice size portion, well seasoned, cooked perfectly. Grandson't waffle was ok....a little thin, but perfectly fine with him. His bacon was also done nicely crisp (and 3 big strips to boot). All-in-all, while I won't be a regular, if you are looking for an old fashioned quick-serve greasy spoon (no slight intended) with excellent service...give it a try. Addendum: small parking lot is not easy to exit cross-traffic onto Murfreesboro Rd, so better plan on just turning right out of the lot and heading East-SE. read more

Marked into the foreseeable future by unhappy COVID-19 restrictions it's still the Waffle House we've known for years. As of my Sep. 21 visit, efforts to manage COVID impact and spread are obvious, but this location's staff are becoming lax regarding masks. COVID realities have impacted staffing across all businesses, so experience levels will vary. Be patient if your server or cook is still learning the menu of "scattered, well, covered, country" and intricacies of short order pull, drop, and mark communications. They can be especially troublesome during a rush. There was no rush during my visit, but my order still required reconfirmation, came out mostly correct, and still satisfied my longing for hash browns. Ummmmmm. Hash browns! read more

Also had the pork chops with eggs and hash-brown potatoes. Added chopped tomatoes and ham to the potatoes. Delicious. Pork chops were great. They reminded me of grandmas cooking. I see a lot of complaints on here, but our experience couldn't have been better! Went to a late night movie and wanted dinner after so decided to try the WH. Sat at a booth immediately and the waitress was quick and really nice. Food came out super fast and was ummmm ummmm delicious. It's like you know what you're shoveling into your face isn't good for you, but you just don't care cause it's so tasty! We will be back some other late night for sure. read more

We were never acknowledged or told we could seat ourselves, so we just stood there waiting.... We finally sat ourselves and again, no acknowledgement from the server. People knock waffle house but I don't make it anything more than it is. It's excellent comfort food -- pancakes, 2 eggs, hash, toast and your side of meat. To me, the Waffle House is a pretty much a George Webb plopped down in the south. The food is OK and reasonably priced. We sat at the counter and had breakfast menu placemats, but later I noticed that those at tables had three menus and a lot more to choose from. The counter area was understandably noisy due to plates and pans being stacked up there by the employees. The manager was expediting food and overseeing prep quantity, and all of the employees we encountered were very nice. The coffee was OK, the bacon was OK, the grits were well made and I had an obligatory plain waffle, which was OK as well. All in all this was an OK experience. read more

We have been going to breakfast every Saturday for a few weeks. Food and service has been good. This morning during breakfast music was played at a very "high" volume. It was so loud that my friend and I could not talk and hear each other without yelling. We asked for the music volume to be lowered and was simply glared at by the counter staff. First off I love Waffle House. When I travel I always eat breakfast there. I am very irritated at today's meal. Everything was good, the server was great, the food was great, but I was at the counter and there was a woman washing dishes behind the counter. She was being so careless that she was splashing dirty dishwasher up on the counter. Now, this happens from time to time, but it is usually just a few drops. This time a few droplets got on the counter and I noticed she was being very careless. Not a second later she splashed dirty water on my bacon, on my eggs, and in my coffee. It was enough to see the soap bubbles. I am not being a wuss here it was enough to turn my stomach. What really makes me mad is when I complained the woman that did it gave me a snotty "I didn't do it on purpose" I don't care if you did it on purpose. No one wants DIRTY DISHWATER in their food! Of course, they offered to make it again, but I only had one piece of bacon left and maybe one of the three eggs I ordered. I did not want another whole order I just wanted what I had left. I did not have time to wait for another order and did not want to waste most of it. I will eat at Waffle House again and quite often, just not this one! read more

We usually have very average experiences at Waffle House. Unfortunately last night was awful. We ordered take out and my friend told she lady on the phone the order and repeated the instructions just to be sure. We ordered two all star meals. When I got home, we realized that the order was not correct. The eggs on both orders were incorrect and flavorless. One order looked really small, like only one egg was used. The meat choice was incorrect as well, and there was no syrup packed for the waffles. They always put syrup and butter in with waffles in past orders. We call to ask about being charged for items we didn't get, and the woman who took the order got on the phone. She was defensive and kept talking over me about how it's my responsibility to make sure i ask if the order is correct and i have everything i need before i leave. She was incredibly rude and had no interest in fixing anything. Things happen of course, but the place was empty and the lack of concern, apology, and the inability to even listen to me was so annoying. read more

Lorrainne, our waitress, was the very best!! We tried to find Gary Morris' song "The Waffle House" on the jukebox but not there - it's on one of his newest CDs. This Waffle House location recently reopened after a few months of being closed for remodeling. And when I say "remodeling," I mean "Completely gutted and reduced to an empty shell before rebuilding it from inside out." As a result, the Franklin location currently has by far the cleanest restroom of any Waffle House I've visited. Considering that filthy restrooms are the near-universal bane of Waffle House, this was a welcome change. The dining room also feels cleaner and more pleasant than other Waffle Houses, and the kitchen across the counter from where I was sitting appeared to match. One change I didn't particularly care for: There are now fewer booths, as some were removed to make room for more counter seats. I for one prefer booths--while some may like to chat with the staff, I find it a little odd facing them while eating. Also, it's harder to converse with whoever I'm with, I find the seats less comfortable than booths, and there's the likelihood of rubbing elbows with a stranger and having to share counter space with them (which some sociable people no doubt enjoy, but I don't). But our server told us that the House prefers counter seats due to "higher turnover." Perhaps customers simply leave sooner because they don't like counter seats as much? Anyway, there are still booths available for folks like me, but they'll be harder to obtain at peak times. And apparently peak times are occurring frequently at Waffle House of Franklin: The place was full when we visited at 9 AM Friday morning, and our server said that it's full every morning. (Perhaps it only seemed particularly full to me because we often eat at W-Houses at odd hours, but I suspect Franklin's 'House *is* busier than others). I also saw the most staff behind the counter that I've ever seen at a 'House, even at busy times. As for the food: While as a franchise all Waffle Houses serve largely the same items, whether the hash- browns are unburnt with sufficient cheese and the eggs are just right depends on who's cooking. And I'm pleased to report that on this Friday morning, one of the better 'House cooks was on the job. (I do notice that another Yelper who recently had a poor experience visited at 7 PM. Having visited many Waffle Houses at all hours, it *does* seem that Waffle Houses often put the less-experienced staff to work at off-hours. If you visit W-House of Franklin at an odd hour, I'd be particularly interested in reading your review). Anyway, speaking from the experience of having eaten at every Waffle House between Prattville, AL, and Franklin, TN, on I-65: If you like a southern breakfast as served in a diner, this is a good time to visit Waffle House of Franklin...just get there early if you want a booth.
