First Watch is definitely "first" on my Breakfast-Brunch list. While I have visited both locations in Franklin, the venue on Meridian is our family's new go-to place for breakfast. Yes, there are lots of other breakfast options in our fair city...good options at that. But First Watch has all the things we've been seeking. --Parking - lots and lots of spaces right in front and alongside the building (as opposed to the crowded lots you find at other places.) --Seating - once again, lots of seats normally available (no standing in line for any length of time; there is plenty of room here.) --Food - oh my! Omelettes Fritattas Oatmeal and Power Bowls Griddle Goodies like Multi-grain pancakes (or how about my wife's delight: Lemon Ricotta pancakes) I love, love, love to eat...yet, I find it's very easy to satisfy my oft' times overzealous appetite here at First Watch with one of their "Healthier Side items". Note: these are not just "sides" these are full-on healthy - low cal - low carb options. My personal favorite is the Tri-Athelete with a delicious egg-white omelette jam packed with slightly spicy green chilies (one of my faves), mushrooms (another winner) onions and tomatoes plus a small side of pico de gallo. You also get very thick (hearty?!) whole grain artisan toast, all-natural house preserves (very thick) and fresh fruit. You can also substitute a salad of lightly dressed greens. Try that sometime, it's a delight! (I also had a fairly lo-cal side of Hash Brown potatoes - about 150 calories - that were crisp and tender and nicely seasoned.) If my wife isn't noshin' on her Lemon Ricotta pancakes, she's digging into the Avocado toast - creamy and delectable with two eggs cooked to order (although her last pair were a bit underdone for sunny side). Lunch is also a treat for the health-conscious. No big juicy burgers here, but ample choices from a slightly healthier menu of salads, soups, and artisan sandwiches. Ordered biscuits and gravy. There was not enough gravy to even cover one biscuit- let alone two. Potatoes were so salty I couldn't even taste how burnt they were. I ordered my eggs over medium and they showed up undercooked even by poached standards. It's hard to screw up breakfast this badly but it seems like you found a way. Terrible place. I am so done with this first watch! This was my third time trying it again after two failed experiences and I am officially pulling the strings and never returning. I ask for my eggs a certain way and they ALWAYS come out wrong! The cooks do not know how to do soft scramble and forget modifications. I regret not going to Tupelo Honey across the parking lot. This was undoubtedly the worst FW experience I've ever had. I dined with my son and we were seated at a table that wobbled so badly, the hot sauce at the edge of the table fell and broke as soon as we were seated. It was cleaned up quickly and the waitress tried to place something under the table to stop the wobble, but it did not work. We were not asked if we wanted a different table even though several were available. My son ordered hot chocolate and we quickly learned that you can't touch the table or else his drink would also spill. A different waiter came to take our order. While waiting we went to the rest room. My son said the men's had no paper towels and the women's was in need of cleaning, plus the non-handicap stall has no way of locking the door behind you. Once the food arrived it felt like eating on a surf board. I could barely cut my frittata without the table moving like crazy. Who wants to dine while feeling like you can't even breathe. We weren't asked if we wanted refills or checked on. Simply given the check. Then while standing in line the person in front of me had an issue getting a receipt, and the person who was behind me was serviced first. It was relieved to finally get out of there. The two stars is for the food and the wait staff is doing all they can, but who ever manages this place needs to wake up. It felt like an "upscale Waffle House" experience which I never anticipate for any FW! Skip this location and go to Tupelo Honey or the other location across town. read more

I ate here back to back mornings for 2 reasons - 1. location (my hotel was across the street). and 2. it was GOOD! Their entire menu sounds amazing, but I am on a strict meal plan so I needed something simple. I opted for the tri-athlete breakfast (egg white omelette with tomatoes and mushrooms). I added broccoli to mine and requested it to be made dry (i.e. with cooking spray instead of oil/butter) and a dry english muffin on the side. They cooked it exactly how I requested, which was wonderful. I was a little disappointed because both mornings the omelette was a little cold (not piping hot but not ice cold, just room temp I guess). But it was very tasty and fit my diet, so it was perfect. The second day I ordered it with dry sour dough toast instead. I was hoping it was homemade, but it didn't seem like it was. Came with 2 pieces of toast. The multigrain toast looked amazing...thick cut so it was only 1 slice. My coworkers each ordered different options and everyone was happy with their choices. They made them to your requested order. The specials board had some great sounding items too like a nutella french toast and some yummy juices. I would definitely return when I'm in the Franklin area again! Apparently this location was previously "The Egg and I." And its in the back corner of one of the many Franklin area brick strip malls. read more

If you want a fresh, farm to table breakfast then give First Watch a try. I've seen a couple comments about a long wait, we've never waited longer than 15 minutes, even when it's crowded. The food here is the definition of fresh, it just has a different taste to it. It's so good. They have a great variety to choose from, rather that be something salty like biscuits and gravy to something sweet like fruit pancakes or French toast. The service is always good, the waitresses are friendly and always refill your coffee for you. Breakfast can be a busy time in Nashville, and it's nice to know that if you are over at First Watch and there is a line, then you can come over to First Watch and there probably won't be one. That was our experience just recently when we decided to go to First Watch for breakfast, but there was a 40 minute wait, so we left and came to First Watch. Okay what i'm getting at is this. The First Watch over on McEwan seems to always be busy, but the one on Carothers seems to be less so. Possibly due to the proximity to Tupelo Honey. But don't let that stop you. As a fan of First Watch Breakfasts, this is a great, and less busy location to try. Also, those pancakes are BIG, there is a reason most people only order one! read more

I stayed across the street for business and walked over to First Watch this morning. I was greeted and seated immediately. There was only about 4 other tables in the restaurant occupied. The server came over and greeted me shortly after I was sat. She promptly poured me some coffee. I'm liking her already. The menu has a lot of great options. I chose the eggs benedict BLT option. Poached eggs, on a ciabatta roll, with bacon, avocado, and tomato, with the traditional Hollandaise sauce. Come to think of it - there was no "L" - which was fine. Who wants lettuce on their eggs benedict anyway? I opted for the potatoes as a side vs. the fruit. I should have ordered the fruit, but my server was quick to point out that I had all day and breakfast was the best meal to have potatoes with. I'm really liking her now. The food came in a reasonable time, and was very good. The poached egg was slightly underdone, but it was good. I might have let it poach another 30 seconds or so. The food was delicious. 1 negative - it wasn't as hot as it should have been. A cup of coffee and the meal cost $15.16 plus tip. Pricey. Overall slightly overpriced, pleasant place to have breakfast. So y'all. I LOVE Pile! She's always our waitress and I couldn't adore her more. She calls everyone friend and the look in her eyes make you totally believe it. Today the service was crazy over the top. I mean in 30 minutes we were back in our car driving away. This was at 8:30am The food is always spot on. Today I had Eggs Benedict Florentine. OR something like that. Amazing. Too many greens on the side... I wasted a lot, which I hate to do. Usually I love their avocado toast. Best! Another thing I love. Coffee I in a caraffe on my table. I am definitely a regular at this first watch for many reasons. The first reason being the food. I have enjoyed the pancakes, waffles, breakfast tacos, omelettes, oatmeal, A.M. superfoods bowl, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, you name it and they are all always incredible. Any food that I order at first watch always impresses me. Another thing, their pancakes are probably the best in the world. They are the fluffiest, biggest pancakes to exist. In addition to this, their food has options for everyone. They have healthier options, they have more traditional american breakfasts, they have omelettes. No one I have ever known has struggled to find an option at this restaurant. Also, at my last visit, they were out of iced coffee and I was devastated. However, this honestly serves as more of a rave review of the coffee than a frustration about the lack of coffee. First watch is the only place where I will drink coffee because their iced coffee is just that incredible. I would go there solely for the iced coffee honestly because it is just that good.
