A friend had invited my wife and I for a Sunday Brunch to First Watch. This was our first time and checked out the menu and reviews before going. Menu was very interested and not your standard breakfast place menu. I was a little suspect because of the poor customer service reviews but all food ones were good. Our friend called in for a call in reservation and we were seated with in 5 minutes eventhough the restaurant was packed. The server came to the table to take our drink order, came back with our drinks and took our food order. The food order came out fast. The "works" omlet and a side order of French Toast. The only thing missing from the "works" was the kitchen sink. Cheese, onions, sausage, tomatos and mushrooms and their fired,cubed potatoes were amazing. The French/Texas toast was great. Everything was perfect and service was great. We'll be back. read more

Overall not what I was hoping for. Some of my colleagues suggested trying first watch for breakfast, so I decided to try it today. They sat me down in a corner and no one wanted to wait on me.. I have no idea who my waitress should have been. After 10+ minutes of waiting, the person who seated me asked if I had been helped, I said no, so then he took my order, but I don't think that was his job. On the menu, the regular drinks like orange juice, didn't show a price. This seemed strange to me; I am pretty used to being charged for an OJ, but it was my first time here so I asked if this was included in the meal (that would have been a nice surprise). He said no. I asked if it was free, and he said no, it costs money. I asked how do I know how much it costs, because there was absolutely NO price anywhere on either side for the cost of orange juice. He said it's a hidden charge that they will charge in their computer system...... That's bullshit at a fundamental level! I asked how much, he quoted me a price without checking the computer, but how do I know? It's not listed on the menu. Is that the price for the small OJ or a large? How do I know? How can I make sure they're not overcharging me? That's the whole point of a MENU, to list what they sell and for how much, so you can decide without having to waste the waiters time asking the price of each item. I really don't like this! I should of listened to my inner voice that said just walk away now. Foolisly, the only reason I stayed was because of the recommendation by my colleagues. Needless to say, I didn't get an OJ because I had no way of verifying the price. I ordered a water. I would have enjoyed an orange juice with my breakfast. Maybe I should have ordered it and then told them I'll pay the price on the menu.... After about another 10+ minutes of waiting, no water was brought out. Then a lady came out and asked if I had been helped, I said yes but I don't think it was his job to take my order, so she said she would look into it and brought out a water a few minutes later. The sad part was, the place was not very busy.... Just a slow Tuesday around 10am. When the food finally came out by ANOTHER waitress who I never saw before, I was a little sad because the toast was loaded with way too much butter. The menu didn't say anything about butter, nor did the waiter... I scraped off as much as I could, but the damage had already been done. Dam, am I responsible for telling them everything I don't want on toast that could possibly be put on toast? The bacon was okay tasting but overly salty. The eggs were the opposite, pretty bland without any salt. What they did add to the eggs appeared to be finely chopped scallions. I don't enjoy the taste of scallions on my scrambled eggs. It's a bad combination for me. The fruit was okay, but a very small portion. Overall a lackluster tasting breakfast, very poor service, and the menu that I fundamentally disagree with. For these reasons I give it the lowest rating possible. I am thankful I tried it so I could see what my colleagues were talking about, but now I know. I probably won't return ever again to any first watch. read more

And then the food starts coming out 2 of the 3 people got our food then 15-20 minutes later our server finally came to the table and says nothing except here the check and we had to be like we still are missing food. This was my first time at First Watch, we went on a Sunday right when they opened and there was about a half hour wait. But you can get in line from their app at home. I love dining here for breakfast. However, today was the second time I received a burnt pancake. The first time, I mentioned that the pancake was burnt, and of course, it was replaced. On today's visit--the second time--the pancake was burnt so badly on the bottom that I could smell it, which prompted me to check underneath. I do not fault my waitress, Ms. Brown. She was sincerely kind and apologetic about the incident. However, I believe I will give "First Watch" a break, as I've now received burnt or poorly cooked food on consecutive visits. The food is pretty good and the atmosphere is nice. It feels clean and isn't too loud when it's filled up. The service isn't the best however, several times when I've come the waiter doesn't come back around often enough, the app is very inaccurate with timing and getting in line is a joke because you have to go in and check in anyways. I was told as well as others that "your table is being cleaned" and then 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes passes. I'll start off with that the staff was so sweet. They were very very busy and the staff took really good care of us. The prices were a bit higher, but that's normal for a place like this. Everything tasted pretty good. We sat outside and I'm thankful we did. The inside was so full it looked cramped and it was very loud walking through the restaurant. Back in the day, did you ever go out on a date with a really good looking person only to find out that you just didn't click? Me neither - but my wife has and she described it to me. That's is how I have felt about First Watch - but this was our second date. I didn't review the first one. The people are pleasant, the space is open, there is even a counter service bar for individual diners, dining alone. Coffee is hot and a pitcher of coffee is on our table in addition to a bottle of cold water, so refills are easy. Self-service or full service, the refills are on the ready and the wait staff does check in regularly. We visited at about 10AM on a Tuesday. The restaurant was medium busy. We were immediately and cheerfully greeted and seated. We were quickly served iced water and hot coffee. The service was very good, so we tipped well. Everything seems great! But I just didn't like the food. Both times. It almost is as if the food is plated for appearance and not for flavor? Well at least the hash that I had, but more on that later. My wife had just scrambled eggs and a biscuit. Literally two side items, and each was $5 range. I had the Spring Menu special Tacos Al Pastor hash, since it was a mid-morning brunch type deal. This is described as: "Two cage-free eggs any style atop fresh, seasoned potatoes, crispy pork al pastor, pineapple, fresh avocado, house-pickled red onions, Cotija cheese, cilantro and lime crema. Served with a side of warm tortillas." The problem is that none of the flavors of al pastor really meshed together. The ratio of any other ingredient to the potato was off, with potatoes being much more of the dish, comparatively. But the dish looked awesome. The eggs were cooked over medium, covered in the Cotija cheese and the purple onions contrasted with the green avocado to make it very appealing. I just didn't get the al pastor flavor from it as a "composed" dish. And it was $13-14 range. We also had to try the "Million Dollar Bacon" which is 4 strips of hardwood smoked bacon with brown sugar, black & cayenne pepper and maple syrup - but it's not a million dollars, only $6, otherwise known as $1.50 per strip of bacon. It was good, but the bacon could've been crisper. I'm probably coming back and will find something simpler next time (the menu is extensive). I am sure that FW has their audience, especially the brunch crowd, with great fandom, but to me it was just okay. If this was a food presentation contest, hands down a winner, but it also needs to deliver flavor commensurate with the appearance. read more

Really enjoyed our breakfast out. It's always tricky to find a breakfast place that actually makes something that you don't think is overpriced and is less flavorful than what you can make at home but this is one of the exceptions. Really good breakfast and the staff was awesome. read more

Food, service and ambiance is great!!. But my emphasis is on the service I endured because of one server "Ms Logan". She was attentive, quick witted, extremely friendly and quite warm. I live in NY and was visiting for a week. I diligently returned everyday with my children in hopes that we'd have her as our server. We did and she smiled and greeted us with warm hugs and hot coffee like we were long lost family members. So nice to feel at home when we're actually away from home. She flitted around at top speed serving many yet she's was so efficient and personable. What an amazing young woman!! She is an asset to First Watch Greenville SC. I loved this place! We loved it so much that we came here twice during our six-day trip to South Carolina. I am so glad that we have one close to home as well. We tried a combination of sweet and savory items. Their lemon blueberry cornbread (summer special) was delicious, and I am usually not a fan of citrus-flavored pastries, it was not dry at all and the lemony butter made it even better. Their chicken avocado chop salad, protein bowl, and breakfast sandwich were full of flavor and so filling. The grilled muffin that came with the oatmeal was such a fun surprise (had never heard of muffins being grilled before). Their fresh pressed juices like the kale tonic and lavender haze were also absolutely delicious. It's a great place to get breakfast or lunch with your friends or family. Well- I've gone to many First Watch over the country. This was disappointing. First, the 'hostess' was not friendly. I realize they are busy but still, she's the first face you see. Then she quoted 40 min. We signed in at 10:24. We were not seated until 11:16. I am fairly sure they seated 2's ahead of us. We were on a time crunch and that was crazy. Then they seated us. We had such a mess under our table. Yuck. Our waitress was very nice but seemed very frazzled. It took 20 min (11:36) to get our food and my husband didn't get his until 11:46. We were all done. It was nice, but busy. I'm a picky person when it comes to spicy. I ordered the shrimp and grits and when I got it, the presentation was nice, large portion but I thought it was spicy and not to my liking. My daughter ate it and I just had toast. It was too busy to wait and I didn't want to disturb the flow in the kitchen. It was my choice and the server was really nice. I'd probably try again but just knowing what I should stick too. My partner and i stopped in here for breakfast fairly early in the morning, around 9. The inside of the building is clean and has a very warm, rustic atmosphere that I found charming. They have an open concept kitchen where you can see right into the back of house, and as someone who works in kitchens, it looks very clean, tidy, and up to standard. Our waitress came over quickly and offered us coffee and water first thing, I wish I could remember her name because she was very sweet and informative. She gave us a quick breakdown of the menu and what items were new and suggested some that she liked. My partner went with her suggestion, a Brooklyn breakfast sandwich with bacon and eggs and pickled red onions. I chose the salmon Benedict on ciabatta, which i think is a nice deviation from the normal english muffin that come standard; it held the ingredients much better together where an english muffin is prone to falling apart under all that hollandaise. The salmon was notably fresh and tasted great. My partner said their sandwich was pretty good but not fantastic (i'll note here that they're a bit more critical than i am about food). Terrible. My husband and I ordered a simple Togo order directly through them by calling in. I ordered a trifecta meal with a blueberry pancake, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, and slices of avocado. My husband ordered the traditional breakfast with toast, potatoes and scrambled eggs. We also ordered a separate side of bobs red mill cheese grits and biscuit & gravy. My husband got the order all the way home to find out the trifecta for $13.00 was missing the turkey sausage and scrambled eggs. We called back up there immediately and the worker who answered the phone just said oh! After we explained that they forgot to put half of our order in the bag. She then put someone else on the phone who asked what we were missing so I had to repeat myself and she said: okay, you can come back up here to pickup and we will have it ready for you. She didn't offer an apology or anything. Customer service could've went a long way for the inconvenience you all caused. The woodruff road location needs to do better and until they do, I will not be back! read more

The food is always amazing, but we have had problems with receiving dirty glassware and silverware several times now. Barbara was our server the last time we went and we were given dirty glasses (not by her!) and she went above and beyond giving us excellent service. She was personable and had a fantastic attitude. So many times you feel like the establishment doesn't care if you are there or if you care to return. Barbara was the exact opposite of that. We will definitely return because of her!! read more

So behind the times to have the customer wait in line to pay. Initially I thought she had too much to do but then I would see her in the kitchen hanging out and the waitresses yelling to get up front. Zero personality as well. She should probably look for a different line of work. The waitress was unattentive and would forget the simpilest things. She never once checked on me. I ordered the blueberry lemon cornbread which I love. But not today. Stale and cold. And I waited about 10 minutes or more to get it. I thought it would come out piping hot. I also ordered the chimichanga with the potatoes. The potatoes were WAY undercooked. This is NOT a chimichanga. There was nothing crisp about it. Just soggy. Good flavor inside. But was missing avocado and chorizo. Overall a super disappointing experience and extremely poor value. The better location (in every way) is on Harrison Bridge. read more
