It was busy this late morning, but there was no wait for a table. My menu choice: The million-dollar crispy bacon my must-have side and a great compliment to my multi-grain blueberry pancake. Always had good service and friendliness at First Watch. Won't be back to another one. The worst. Servers kept looking around and moved to the bar area hoping to get served. Still no one to speak to or order from. Why be in a customer facing job and hate customers. Seems odd. Move on from this manager. Finally the gentleman that eventually served me was nice enough. Cannot redeem how I was treated upon arriving. Attitude in the restaurant reflects the leadership. After finally getting served. Food quality is never an issue. But Service trumps that in many cases. Our friends asked us to meet them at First Watch. For just recently opening at this location, you would have thought they would make the restaurant a place to enjoy a quiet breakfast or lunch. Instead we immediately knew we would not be able to hear ourselves think as we walked into this open space. The host was not very welcoming - with just a matter of fact greeting, he grabbed 4 menus and led us to a table near the kitchen. I asked if we could sit somewhere quiet and his response was we would not find it in this restaurant. He suggested maybe a table near the restrooms. We chose a different table for 4 near the windows (which was slightly better for the noise, but really cold sitting next to the windows). Our server came over with the menus. The first thing I will tell you about First Watch is that this is not a calorie/nutrition friendly restaurant. You will be hard pressed to find any of their entrees with calories under 700 - most of them come in at over 1000 and that included the salads. She never introduced herself. She took our drink order and was off. When she came back with the drinks, she forgot my husband's coffee. After coming to our table at least three times after that, and long after the food was delivered, she brought the coffee. I ordered the Ham and Gruyere Melt (810 calories), it came with a choice of greens or a cup of soup. I had the greens and they were just okay - plain without any dressing. My husband asked for a side order of two eggs over medium (which were done perfectly) and Bob's Red Mill Cheesy Grits, which he said would be better with a little garlic added in. Our friends ordered the Chicken Avocado Chop Salad (790 calories) and a BLTE sandwich without the eggs and with potatoes (1120 calories). Our server never came back to see if we needed additional beverages or anything for that matter. We had to ask for more water and more diet coke. To pay the bill, my husband was directed to the cash registers next to the front door. At first, no one was there; however, one of the waitresses came over to ring out one of her customers. She then took our bill, entered the information in her register, and told my husband to use the credit card device in front. When no amount showed up, he asked the waitress, and she said no amount would show up until he tapped his card. It was then that a screen appeared asking to select a tip amount. By this time, the waitress had walked away. He had to get her attention to return and print him a receipt. Sat at the bar area at 1-1:30, and the restaurant was relatively quiet; my server was prompt to start, taking my salad order and watermelon refresher order, of which the refresher came out promptly, but thats about it. Never saw my server again, sat quietly with an empty glass, just looking for water. About 15 or 20 later, my salad came out, drenched in dressing, to a point where all you could taste was incredibly sweet dressing (which I do realize was honey dressing, and why I ordered on the side), although I requested it on the side. At that point I asked a runner for a water which he brought, and then a bit later a different server (I believe) brought a water. Overall, the service was less then stellar, the salad was meh, but the watermelon refresher was good. People and staff of entitled to an off day, and while I am sure I'll be back again sometime, I won't be in a hurry to get back to this location. read more

The hunt valley location has great service and the consistent yummy food. There can be a wait, check the website and get "in line" online before you get there! Today I had one of there fall specials brussel sprout hash! Was delicious! And I like to get my eggs over medium, minus. So I like my eggs jammy. Not runny I asked the server and boy they delivered. Picture shown. Over the years I've had the lemon ricotta pancakes, the million dollar bacon the ham and guyere sandwich, the chia bowl, the avocado toast and more. I enjoy all of the dishes!! I like their speciality drinks too! My favorite is the morning meditation and the lavender butterfly pea flower! So yummy!! Do not hesitate to hit up the HV first watch for your next brunch!! Wildron Knowles, General Manager, you, sir, have one heck of an employee on your staff at the HV location. When my party arrived a man was standing in the back waving good morning at us. That man was Warren. It was just so unusual to have a server already making contact and we hadn't even been seated yet. Luckily, we were seated in his section and he was dynamic from the get go. He provided exceptional and personal service....something you don't see often these days. He was so friendly and engaging and not afraid to show off that razzle dazzle smile. We normally patron the Timonium FW, but we would return here if guaranteed to get Warren. The chickichanga was delicious, as was the Trifecta with Belgium Waffle. My family and I waited for 20 minutes for a server, four of them and the host past right through and none of them checked out table and asked if any server came. My sister got one of the servers to get a manager and the manager came, only to say that she didn't know who was the assigned server nor did she knew the seat chart. The manager wanted to comp the meals, but my sister wasn't having it and we left. I recommend to not go to this location. Go to the one in Bowie. Maryland, instead. I've been to this new location in Hunt Valley a few times before I decided on my rating. I will say that they are pricey for breakfast. Since when does breakfast for 2 cost you $42..And for that the food is good but not $42 good. On the last visit I had the Tri Fecta which is 2 eggs, a meat, and a waffle which was a simple breakfast and one of the least expensive for them. The waffle was not fully cooked so softer, but I like it better this way than overcooked. Eggs were eggs. And the meat was not very flavorful. My wife did try the shrimp and grits and loved.it. Plenty of grits and shrimp. The other people in my party were neutral with their meals. The chicken pesto barely had chicken or pesto in the dish. But she did say the flavors in the fish were good and fresh. And the other person had the biscuits and bland watery gravy. She said her eggs were cooked perfectly and loved the potatoes, But said it wasn't enough gravy for the meal. The waitress was nice and attentive. Friendly and helpful. Parking is a breeze at this location. The inside is open but it can get noisy inside when filled. It is very clean and lots of natural lighting. They do have a weird check out process as no one really is stationed at the check out. So when you want to pay it takes a few minutes before someone sees you and comes to assist you. I like this place. I've never had bad service. I will say the food could be more consistent. The first time I went my waffle was hard and way over cooked, but I decided to give them another try and was better the second round. It's a nice little spot to meet up for breakfast just know it's $$$ The reason I give them 4 stars is I like this place, and will be back. We have been a few times and have had a decent experience each time. The food is above average but I've never had anything 'out of this world' good. One thing bothers me though. The eggs are always undercooked. They ask you how you want your eggs cooked but I've always gotten eggs with raw whites. I usually ask for poached but I've ordered over medium in hopes they were more cooked but still the same outcome. Came in to have breakfast at First Watch in Hunt Valley and was so disappointed. I asked for no powder sugar on my waffle and when they brought my food with a ton of powdered sugar. The waitress took it back and when she bought me the new waffle it was hard as a rock! I immediately asked for my check and was told to just go to the front to pay. They seated a table next to us and their food came out within 10 minutes! We came mid morning on a MONDAY and their restaurant was mostly empty; how bad is it on the weekend!? I would give no stars. This is my second bad experience. Last time took over a hour to get food. Today was even worse. After a hour I was told my order was coming up. Five minutes later I was told they did not have the granola or chia pudding for the Superfood Bowl. So basically could not make our order. The restaurant was also extremely dirty pretty empty and tables with leftover diner's food sitting around. It was gross and slow! I will never return or recommend this place to anyone! read more

I was at the Hunt Valley location not too long ago and had an incredible beautiful young lady, Sarah. She's one of the best servers Iv had at a restaurant and was very attentive to our table. The reason for the one star is for the manager. There was an issue with our order and I saw her ask what seemed to be the manager a question about it and he looked her in the face, blatantly ignored her and walked away without responding. That is extremely unprofessional and I do NOT stand for treating your employees wrongfully. I will not be returning to this location because of this incident. We ordered right away-- took another 20 minutes for some food to show up. Of the 2 entrees, each was missing half of its contents-- one didn't come with potatoes (as it should) and the other was missing it's bacon (which the server told would be 10 more minutes or we could get a different protein).
